✓ I’m sorry butI cant say this app is very good I’m just prepping for high school and I need a note taking app on my phone as well as my school laptop which I will get who knows when maybye in the holidays before the new year but I’m complaining bout how this app works and why are there no options for covers in this app.Version: 13.5.5
✓ Misleading and not usable!!I downloaded the app to hopefully take my school notes on it. It worked fine but after taking 1 page of notes and 1 page of work I had run out of space. I tried deleting all of the sample files but I still had no room. I literally had 2 files in the app. When I went to download my work one of my files had been corrupted and all of my work for my homework was lost. This app does not work. Do not recommend ever buying it is a rip off. It lets you buy the free version but immediately makes you have to buy the premium which is $15. There are many better note taking apps out there for way less..Version: 13.4.5
✓ One of the worst note taking appsI used this app to take notes in class. When I first opened the app it was ugly and basic dispute that I used it with my Apple Pencil in my accounting class. The next day I went on the app to review my notes and there is nothing on the page. The text will randomly flash when i try to use different writing styles and show what was written on the page. I do not want to delete in hope of getting my notes back. I would rather eat jean jacket before I use or recommend this sorry excuse of a note taking app. The app is buggy and ugly and needs be fixed or removed from the App Store..Version: 13.2.4
✓ Limits and BugsI am running the latest version (16.0.3) as of this writing. I had the app lying around, but didn’t use it for a lot. Recently I decided to give it a shot for note-taking in classes. I was immediately met with a message telling me that I’d hit my limit of notes (I only had 2 I created for testing the app a while back) and to delete notes. There was a “samples” notebook that had also appeared. I tried deleting that. I couldn’t even delete notes due to a ridiculous arbitrary limit. I tried emptying the trash (bad UI and UX for that alone). It still complained that I had hit limits. No matter what I did, I was limited and at every turn I was constantly nagged to upgrade to pro. I had considered upgrading to Pro, but these bugs and arbitrary limits added to the “free version” have made me reconsider. There should be real, good incentives for upgrading to Pro. You should never, ever suddenly impose limits and then say, “Pay for Pro!” to get access to that which had been lost..Version: 16.0.3

✓ Had to use the updateFinally got a new tablet with way more space. This was one of the apps that needed an update, so I updated it (had to because it won’t stop prompting me to every couple of seconds) and started copying and pasting my documents. I was super excited about the new features, so I had 8 documents on it, all under 3 pages. Upon attempting to open a 9th, a was informed via pop-up that I had already reached the maximum number of documents for the app and pointed me to the Pro version I think it was for $15. The old version I had was free, like the update and I probably have around 30 documents on it, most at least 20 pages. ✓ Useful, but crashes a lotI’ve been using this app for about 2 years and find it pretty good - I like the features and pen colors, text boxes, shapes, etc. I mostly use it for note taking for classes, or preparing lecture notes. That being said, this app has crashed a non-trivial amount of times, causing me to lose parts of my notes. I don’t know how often the app saves, but I have found this to be very frustrating. I’ve also found that the app is very slow to respond when the notes reach ~20 fully handwritten pages, and crashes more often. At about 40 pages, the app crashes if you try to add any more pages, so I have to put my notes for one class in two separate files..Version: 14.4.0
✓ Latest update fail.I’ve tried contacting the team, but no response, so hete is the issue. I have the paid version ( pro), which has been getting more bloated with each upgrade. ✓ WHERE DID MY NOTES GO???I am extremely frustrated and disappointed. I spent a couple of hours reading and taking notes today for a homework assignment that depended on the info I took down, and for some reason my 3 pages of notes are no longer visible. What makes absolutely no sense is that the very last bullet point I wrote along with an empty circled box I did around another bullet point was still there. ✓ If only you could implement a voice recording like NotabilityI think this is a good note taking app for most people and can replace Goodnotes. ✓ Free version misleading & very limitedSo the free app comes with about 36 pre-made notes and 6-7 folders. When you try to make your own folders or notes, it tells you that you’ve reached the limit of the free version and you must upgrade to have unlimited notes. Thinking those sample notes and folders were causing the problem, I deleted them all. I tried to make a new note. No good. I emptied the trash. I was able to make a test note. I deleted it and emptied the trash again. I made 3 folders, one with a relatively nice in-app folder cover-design, two with cover photos uploaded from photos on my iPad. I put two 1-page each pdf notes in one folder and got the message that I had reached the limit of the free trial. Deceptive description and advertising by the app developer is on display here. You cannot try anything important in this app free. You have to purchase the premium version immediately..Version: 13.2.8
✓ It’s alrightHonestly for a free app it’s great, but if your serious about being paper free and having a good notes app then I recommend getting goodnotes. This app gets laggy after a while, the undo and redo is inconsistent with when it wants to work. I find the text box a total pain to use and the paper choices aren’t very broad, I get the apps free but you don’t get much more for the pro version either. Studygram raves about goodnotes so I’d go there before wasting time with this.Version: 14.3.9

✓ All annotations disappearedWarning! Don’t use this app. After using it for a while and putting up with the constant crashing and glitches, a document I had been working on for months had every single annotation completely deleted. I have no way of recovering these annotations. That’s months of studying gone down the drain because of this app. I had even paid for the premium version and still got screwed over. There was no backup to iCloud either. My stress levels have gone through the roof because of this. I contacted the app as well and they have not replied to my concerns. ✓ Limited number of documentsI had really liked this app, as it was one of the best note writing apps I'd used. it lets you import PDFs and take notes on them, which had been super useful for school. However, after a while, it started lagging and my apple pencil's notes took a few seconds to show. Not only that, but it stopped letting me create new documents, with the message " Oops! You've reached the maximum number of documents in this version. Upgrade to the Pro full version free some space here.” I didn't want to upgrade so I decided to delete some of my documents. ✓ Was good but paywall made it uselessUsed this app for years and it was awesome considering it was free but the recent update to paywall everything has made the app unusable. I am trying to export or save my work so i can delete enough docs to meet their free requirements but it won’t let me save anything until I reduce the number of docs (or of course pay $8). Seriously?? The free version doesn’t let you export or print docs?! There are many similar apps that are better than notes writer but they usually cost $5. So the only way I can get my docs is by paying them and once I pay them it would cost me more money to switch to a less scummy service that costs less. Settings for split view 2nd doc — not available unless you add a Document Editor. Then you change the view settings but the pages are now all in Document Editor mode where you can’t zoom in and out. Pen — inking is not bad, feels pretty good. But no support for pressure sensitivity Overall the UI and menus are done ‘average’ and need more polish — for example, why are all the different types of Highlight tools hidden in 1 button ? There is no thought given to the fact that Highlighter tools are often used all at once in combo? They should be able to be broken out so they are all on display and available in a single tap. Double-tap to edit pens and text highlighter tools, however, is a great UI touch. More apps need this. No zoom out possible on vertical scroll mode — Notability recently add this. ✓ It’s limitedSo it did everything fine. I was able to use it and write notes, download pdf and onto the good notes app. It was really handy. But then it said how I can’t put more documents and I need to delete some. By the way I only had like about 15 or 10 it was not a lot. ✓ Worst Notetaking App for SchoolThis is the slowest note taking app, with multiple glitches and crashes. Even with their newest version, I find myself daily frustrated while using the app. I’m in medical school, and we have very large PDFs and I wrote my own notes as well (full of pictures and colors). So perhaps this app could work with smaller documents. But I assume that this is the purpose of the app. I am in awe as to how many 5-star ratings there are. I have emailed the developers multiple times and have had no reply or solution yet. Whatever you do-save yourself the headache! ✓ Major bug.I thought this app was really good and useful because you can write notes and upload pdf documents. Although after using the app for about a week or so I came across an issue that makes the app almost unusable for note taking in school. The issue is that once you add another page to your notes document you run the risk of the app deciding to delete the page you just added and took a bunch of notes on! The first time it happened I was doing math homework, solved the problem, left the notes page to input and it came back to all of the pages I added to the document being deleted. Thought it wouldn’t happen again so I kept using the app and after 3 more times I decided to write this to maybe have the creators see and solve this? ✓ Not good as a free appThis might be a good app, I dunno as it locked me out while I was trying to figure/learn how to use it. Stuff like this infuriates me as everyone has different learning curves and this pigeon holes everyone into the same category, which we’re not! I’ll be deleting this after this review. ✓ Deleting pages of my notesI’ve been using this on my iPad for the last couple weeks just drawing a few diagrams for class and randomly sometimes when go to the Home Screen or just close the app and then come back to it- it has deleted a random page of my notes. ✓ Crash, photo edit, zoomout, pen and eraser problemsPLEASE fix the following problems!!! Please! 1. Crash very often; 3-5times in 1.5hrs. When reopening that pdf, it doesn’t go back to current page, instead it usually goes back to 2nd last edited page. However, materials from current page is saved. It is pretty annoying though. 2. When copying a photo from gallery, and cropping it in the app, it sometimes zoomed out to outside of the pdf page which i can see with pinching out zoom. But i cannot maintain the zoomout out-of-page area to put the photo back onto the pdf page. 3. Again after cropping with the photo, resizing the image makes the photo stick to the top of the page, for which I have to scroll back to the top of the page and drag the photo to the desired area. 4. Buttons inconvenience: Instead of organising highlight, strike out, underline, textbox functions, etc under T-in-the-box button, it would be really TIME SAVING if you could put all the individual buttons on the vacant area of the left of menu bar. 5. Eraser Inconvenience: double tapping of apple pencil can ONLY change between pen and eraser. As a user of highlighter function, I cannot use the double tapping eraser function because (1) double tapping can give you the eraser from highlighter(*although that eraser cannot erase the highlight ink, you have to select the highlighted area and select delete which is very inconvenient ) (2) once you have the eraser, you cannot double-tap it back to the hightlighter. Whichever pen option; highlighter/underline/normal pencil that you’re using, the double-tapped eraser should be able to fuction and should be able to erase the current using pen. So that we can use it very quickly in taking lectures. Appreciated!.Version: 14.4.0

✓ Lost NotesI am in college, and I wanted to start taking notes on my iPad in physics class. At the beginning of class, I downloaded this app to see if it would work as an alternative to paying 9 dollars for notability, and all was well while taking notes. The interface was easy to use and made for some good note taking. I had the 4 pages of notes I took in the section called “on my iPad”, and I wanted to transfer it to files in my physics folder. When i tried to do this, it removed it from the app and when i checked the files app, It was nowhere to be found. ✓ Handy but is it enough?I’ve been using this app along with Scrivener to write my book. At first it was great, while I couldn’t add more documents — which i was fine with — the app did what it said it did. Everything was fantastic, until the syncing. For starters, it takes awfully long to sync between the two devices (using Dropbox), which I told myself I could deal with. Until Notes Writer started overwriting files with contents from another file. A recent example: it overwrote a file that had my project notes with the text from my outline. This also happened with several scenes I had written, and some notes on world building — which, in this case, was overwritten with an opener for a chapter I had written recently. If this had happened once, I would have let it go, maybe I’d made a mistake. But this has been happening ever since I installed the app. I can’t just keep losing my content because the developers didn’t work on this feature well enough..Version: 13.1.3

✓ Always resetingI like this app for what I have to do...Taking note during production.....but..... Each time my iPad turn off after 2 min or I turn it off by myself (battery saving), the app shut off too and I have to reopen it, reopen the file and reopen the note I am working on. All other apps stay open when the iPad turn off I was about to buy it to have more function but I’m reconsidering it. I was trying to create a few folders (no more than 5) but after creating the third I couldn't create anymore. ✓ Great, but...This app is great for a free app. Writing is smooth, quick to download, and connects to iCloud, google drive, and Dropbox. The amount of notes I can have is limited to 3, I think, but you can just erase unused notes so it works. ✓ Not satisfiedI downloaded the pro version of this app. The app constantly cashed, there was a lag in the Apple Pencil when writing, the spelt screen froze most of the time, auto recorded stopped working once you started to write and the projects tab is confusing. I take my notes on the dark paper, and when you write in white pen, your notes disappear for some reason. I have to just guess where my handwriting is and it’s super frustrating. 2) Cutting function! Selecting multiple pen marks is not useful at all because the app automatically groups all of the things you drew into seemingly random groups. If I want to move two words out of a sentence I wrote, I can’t because notes writer groups the whole sentence together and there’s no way to select only those words. The cutting function needs to be able to select the exact pen marks you are selecting and nothing more. 3) adding pages ! I’ve recently noticed that when I add pages it takes forever to load. If I am taking notes during class I can’t wait an extra 30 seconds for a new page to load I will miss many notes.Version: 13.5.8
✓ There are few annoying bugsCompare to all other apps this app has wonderful abilities and potential I refused to buy the premium version since I had a lagging experience in scrolling time specially in pencil note, and also partial selection of handwritten note has a serious problem. ✓ Nice NotebookNotes Pro offers a lot of great features, it felt very powerful with the ability to create nearly any kind of note. I'm not sure other apps offer quite as much to edit or add to your page. However, there were 2 issues that kept me from reading it above it's competition for the price. 1) the inking is occasionally over corrected which can make it feel less connected to the page. 2) and a deal breaker for me, it offers no OCR or ability to search text. ✓ Annoyed by advertisementI really love notes writer, but every time that I go on there is this big advertisement to update to the bigger version. I don’t want to, and it costs money, so N-O. It blocks me from seeing the title of the pages on the bottom row. I can’t scroll down any farther then the add. Also every time I stop typing for like, ten seconds to think about what I’m going to write next, it asks me if I want to undo writing. ✓ Slow, frustrating and shuts downI’ve had this app for awhile now and was enjoying it until recently. The app takes 5 minutes to add a new page to my document (i timed it) and it shuts down at Least once before adding one page. I was forced to get the pro hoping that it’ll be better but I haven’t felt any difference and it feels like a complete waste of money. I’m studying for an exam and it’s making it so hard to study and enjoy and majority of my time goes into trying to figure out how to make the app work. Please fix it..Version: 14.4.0

✓ No Save Button and Constant CrashingI really enjoy this app when everything’s working, however I’ve already encountered two app crashes in which my data was lost. There is no manual save option and so everything relies on the app automatically saving periodically for you. This is a huge flaw and extremely annoying as the app doesn’t actually seem to save that frequently. I never know if I’m just going to lose my work. ✓ It keeps crashingWhen I first started using this app it was great and everything I was looking for. I need to use my Apple Pencil and it has been hard to find an app that does everything that I need it to for drawing diagrams and annotations.thought I’d hit the jackpot! BUT I was 3 pages into a documents and the app stopped working with my pencil. It would draw, then disappear, then reappear when I out the eraser on it. I tried my pencil on Notes and it worked fine, updated my iPad and still no changes so I know it’s nothing wrong with my devices. Please fix this because I loved it until this happened! ✓ I’m thinking about it.I just downloaded it and I was trying to test the things and it kicked me out of the app. I just downloaded it again since last time I was not satisfied. ✓ My notes changed color on their ownEverything I wrote in black is now being displayed in white so I can’t see anything. I notified customer service for assistance and they are not helpful at all. They keep telling me to update the app (it’s updated) and not to use the dark mode (I’m not using it). I can select what I wrote and change the color back to white and others, but it takes forever and there’s no guarantee the app won’t randomly make the same change again which renders the app useless to me. I wasted so much time with this, weeks of note taking..Version: 15.0.6

✓ Great app, just the fact that I need to ‘upgrade’.I’ve been using this app for quite a bit (since last year for lockdown) and it has been working effectively and greatly. However, I’m starting to get annoyed with the fact that I need to ‘upgrade’ it or I need to ‘free up my space’. Firstly, I don’t have the money to upgrade this app. And secondly, I’ve tried everything to free up space on this, but nothing works 😐. I don’t use this as much now, but more so for my parents to sign documents of such, yet I can’t do a lot unless I’ve ‘upgraded’ or ‘freed up space’. And freeing up space means deleting documents from nearly everything. I urge you to fix this because I now have no use of this app anymore..Version: 10.2.5
