Beans - Maps for Apartments for Negative User Reviews

Few apartments mapped outAfter using the paid service of Beans to mapp out apartment units in San Diego California for a few dozen deliveries, I realized the claims of Beans are not current, but for the future, as most apartments I delivered to where not mapped out. Customers should not have to pay for such a hit-and-miss (more miss than hit) type of service. I’ll be back once they up their game. If it were free now, it probably would not be worth my time since my experience with it says only a small minority of apartment units are mapped out..Version: 4.0.2

Can’t retrieve Proof of Delivery. At the end of my shift, I try to observe the deliveries I made in the end. After selecting the “Proof of Delivery” feature, the screen never loads; stuck on a constant load. I deleted & reinstall to no avail. The miles tracker is impeccable, but proof of delivery not so much..Version: 5.0.2

??If you want to charge people to use your app service that’s completely fine. But to make a awful virtue signaling paragraph basically saying “hey so your delivery company is too cheap to pay us to provide you with this app so we’re just going to make YOU pay for it instead.” Doesn’t make you sound any better imo. Especially if the app was originally free to begin with..Version: 4.0.3

Awful to make delivery drivers pay!As a delivery driver, we already have to account for car maintenance and other expenses. Having the audacity to have a pop up mention that delivery drivers don’t get paid enough and to continue using this app to pay for it. I used to tell everyone about this app, and I will no longer be doing that. Many drivers get stiffed on tips, and you’re not helping drivers at all..Version: 4.0.0

Could be a lot betterIt has potential, but not useful if you have multiple deliveries in one apartment complex. I think you should have an option to be able to see all apartment numbers such as a regular apartment map. Also if you could just click on multiple apartment number/ type in multiple apartment numbers, and then it optimize a driving route, and/or optimize a walking route which ever one you choose..Version: 2.5.1

Love the app, hate the feeI have been using beans since the beginning. I helped with the beta testing, sat in on some round table discussions, helped map properties with the sister app and have referred hundreds of people to use it. Only to get a message that it will Now cost $4.99 a month going forward. That fee is very steep. It also Says they integrated with Uber and I find that not to be the case. It takes you to The wrong building and doesn’t accurately show where the apartment is. Integration into Apple Maps would also be helpful since most apps navigation is subpar. I wouldn’t mind paying .99cents a month. But until then, I will Use the free resources at the complexes..Version: 4.0.1

Great idea, has my apartment building wrongI downloaded this app to help with deliveries. It’s a great idea and seems like it will certainly useful. When I first started the app, I looked and saw that my apartment complex was already mapped. However, when I put my address in, the building next door (a different address) was highlighted in the app. While it would be pretty easy to see the mistake once you arrive as the numbers are posted on the buildings, it shows a lack of attention to detail..Version: 2.4.1

DisappointedI’m a little disappointed that now I have to pay for an app that has been free for over a year. I just created an account to see the rest of the information like gate codes and the a week later I’m told I need to pay $4.99 to use the app. I suppose it was bound to happen with inflation being so high. It’s just disappointing to say the least..Version: 4.0.0

Good app but not for$4.99 a monthThis was a very good app that helped with about 75-80% of the apartments and trailer parks in the area. Now they want you to pay $4.99 a month. Why don’t you just put ads up that we have to watch. Well I guess they wont have to worry about the cost of the data set anymore, because no one is going to be using it anymore..Version: 4.0.2

New PaywallWas useful, but once again drivers get short end of stick with a paywall. Sell our data, serve up ads, anything instead of being another company taking it out of our pockets. The in app message where you sympathize with drivers for crappy pay just to immediately inform us that we gotta pay is super lame..Version: 4.0.0

Has not worked for meI deliver for Instacart, Shipt, and DoorDash. I discovered Beans about a year ago, and was elated to find an app that I had myself wanted to invent! That’s where the excitement ended. This app has almost never worked for me in locating apartment units. I don’t know if it’s my location (California) or what. About 98% of the time I get a message saying that the apartment complex is not mapped. It’s so bad that I gave up trying. I tried again about a month ago and was stunned beyond belief that it worked. It hasn’t worked since. So you might imagine my irritation when I received an email just now informing me that they’re now going to charge $5 a month for this “service” that doesn’t even work. According to the email, Beans is also now integrated into the Instacart app? I’ve never seen anything about it in my app. If Beans worked, it would be worth a small annual fee. But $5 a month ($60 a year) is a lot to me even if it worked 100% of the time…. and ridiculous given that it doesn’t even come close..Version: 3.3.9

Great idea terrible executionI love the concept of this app. I’m a delivery driver in a college town and there’s more apartment complexes than I can count. I thought this would make it easier for me to find the building I need to deliver to (especially for places with buildings A-HH and no map) but I’ve been severely disappointed. Most of the apartment complexes I’ve been to after entering in the address into the app don’t give me an option to enter the apartment building and just send me to the leasing office. Other times it lets me enter in the building but then send me to building EE when I needed to go to building A. Until they start letting the users fix wrong locations and add in building locations this app will be a fail. I’ve only had one time where this app helped beyond Apple Maps use for the months I’ve been using this app..Version: 3.2.3

Delete now, not free anymoreYou say you want to help gig workers but now you are charging us $4.99 a month to keep using it. We already have to pay out of pocket for everything being a gig worker that now you’re asking us to pay to keep using. Half the apartments don’t even have floor info or gate access so paying is pointless and a waste of money. This app became greedy once they saw all the users who downloaded it. Now we’re all going to delete and go elsewhere. Shame on you for trying to take what little we do make already..Version: 4.0.0

Completely destroyed their appThis app used to be so useful. Free to use and built from the ground up by users. Somehow the developers decided that they’d charge $5 a month for people to keep using it. And they justify it by saying that gig workers don’t get paid enough. If we don’t get paid enough why would we want to spend $5 a month? A one time charge of $5 would be reasonable, but to pay monthly is unnecessary and will definitely push away more than half of their user base. Good luck from here on out Beans..Version: 4.0.1

Paid App?This app has been helpful in the past now it states we have to pay $4.99 per month? Seriously? That’s $60 per year to use. No thank you I’ll go back to keeping my Google docs with info since all this basically did was give me the apartment name. It was never accurate to actually find the right apartment in the complex. And the description saying delivery companies aren’t paying for it, I doubt they were at first or all this time it’s been free that’s a load of crap..Version: 4.0.1

Worth it?I’m paying five dollars a month for this, and it seems like only 2/3 of the apartments are mapped. Five dollars a month is a lot for an app that just shows you where the apartments are, it’s helpful, but it’s only helpful if I can use it for each of my deliveries..Version: 4.0.3

Was good, now against their own wordsI loved using this app, as a delivery driver, because I could figure apartments out faster. Until they decided to shove it behind a paywall, claiming that delivery drivers weren't getting paid enough. Yes, I agree. So why do I, a delivery driver, have to fork over even more money a month that I already can't afford? Really great idea, absolutely destroyed by the developers. Disappointed, but not surprised..Version: 4.0.3

Crashed 10 Times, Then A Pay WallDownloaded the app. Simple enough. Tried to create an account and the app kept crashing. Somehow… miraculously… I finally got an account created. When I finally get a chance to try my first search, I get hit with a paywall. I get a twisted story about how drivers don’t make enough money so it will cost $4.99 to be able to search… well I am a driver. That’s why I downloaded this app. Smh 🤦‍♂️.Version: 4.0.3

Apartment number locations are either not available or completely wrongI’m a delivery driver and every time I look up an apartment on this app, the map is either not available or the apartment location is completely wrong. The only time it’s helped a bit is when it gave me a GENERAL AREA of a specific apartment . Every other time, it’s guided me to the wrong place, causing me to actually lose time and money instead of saving it. The map UI is pretty bad too. The blue dot indicating your current location is always covered up and hidden behind other icons. Also, the search results list has an infuriating habit of changing itself right before I tap on the address I need, making me have to back out and type in the address again, hoping the selection I’m trying to make doesn’t suddenly change itself right before I tap it. Edit: Taking this down to 1-star because they’ve now locked the entire app behind a paywall..Version: 4.0.3

Grubhub/DoorDash DriverWhen I heard about this, I was pumped. At first, it found buildings really easily in the Tulsa area. As I continued to do more, I noticed that it’s right about 60 percent of the time. There have been multiple times that I get sent straight to the leasing office. It’s a start but definitely needs updates with new complexes..Version: 2.4.4

Could be so much betterSaved information is not apartment/unit specific, doesn’t seem to aggregate collected safety and tip data in any useful way. No way to report, correct or replace inaccurate maps. Offers jobs to collect maps, but then the app crashes when you try to do them..Version: 4.0.3

It's worth a shot...At least it mapped the apartment I'm at correctly.. I work delivery and my success rate so far is around 50/50. Luckily, some customers are willing to help me out when the app takes me to the wrong building The devs should probably verify apartment complexes so I and others don't get led out to the wrong buildings. Apartments are hard enough to navigate as it is.Version: 4.0.3

No updates on apartmentsI’ve submitted several locations I found that are not listed, it’s been a year since and yet you guys don’t update it on the app. Please keep busy in adding more spots and update the locations as a good amount of them are incorrect. I have canceled my subscription because of this. Till y’all fix it, I won’t be paying monthly anymore..Version: 4.0.3

Used to be goodWell how disappointing the Beans app is now forcing anybody that wants to use it to pay a fee to use it but they still want you to help them by supplying them with apartment maps still want you to help them by sending emails to the different apps that people would be on to use the Beans app so they want us to do all the work for them and also pay them sorry beans you’re being deleted and there were other ways than to charge your users I would think you could get enough money off of Adds and integrating with the gig apps but LS goodbye.Version: 4.0.0

Gets the job done… sometimesApp works well but not great. Disappointing that this is no longer free to use. Would consider paying $2-$3 a month for this app, but not $5. There have been too many times that this app does not work correctly to justify the $5 a month fee..Version: 4.0.0

Not worth it for a subscription. The app now requires $5/month to search any address. Even when free, most of the apartments I searched had no helpful information in one of the largest cities in the country. They acknowledge that "unfortunately many delivery apps refuse to pay to help their drivers" so their solution is just to force more expenses to individual users? The delivery companies aren't going to care. What a joke..Version: 4.0.2

Ok, but needs improvementI was hoping Beans would be helpful, but so far it has not worked-out so well. I’m a delivery driver in Tucson Arizona and after using Beans for a month, I found that it is no more helpful than Google or Apple Maps in providing apartment locations. In many cases Beans only provides the basic address location and does not recognize any apartments. In other cases, it provides incorrect locations to the apartments. I suspect that Beans works well in large cities where much more effort has been spent by the app developers in mapping the apartment complexes. If you work in a smaller city, like myself, then Beans may not be much help..Version: 4.0.3

…You’re serious?I use this app in conjunction with Apple Maps so I have as many ways as possible to make an accurate delivery. This app is pretty incredible when it comes to apartment maps (sometimes). HOWEVER Don’t sympathize with delivery drivers not being paid enough to justify a paywall. That makes no sense. Give me subscription perks. Give me some type of bonus for paying. Don’t lock out your app. It’s deceitful to show your app as “free to download” and suddenly you can’t use it unless you’re paying for it - MONTHLY. This is a waste of potential. More people need to know about what’s happening with this app. You’re bleeding users and making the money that drivers should fork over. Oh wait, I thought they didn’t make enough money? Get rid of the paywall. Do something else to monetize your app. This is straight-up disrespectful..Version: 4.0.1

Greedy developerWas free, worked okay but far from perfect. Now charging an extravagant monthly fee of $5. For what? Reports are that the app has only become worse and has more bugs since charging for subscription. Will only use again if the developers figure out a better way to fund the project than charging the users..Version: 4.0.3
