Hipstamatic® for Negative User Reviews

Just say no to “subscriptions”This whole app is a thinly veiled attempt at persuading people to pay for a subscription to keep your accountants happy. Before Apple co-opted the word, a subscription used to mean you could keep the items acquired during the subscription period. With Apple if you cancel you get nothing..Version: 3

A total disappointmentI’ve been a big fan of Hipstamatic from the very beginning. I’ve had the app over multiple iPhones and have bought around 90% of the films and lenses they have put out. I was very excited to try the new version but, having spent the past couple of hours playing around with it I can report back that I actually hate it. Gone is the ability to edit photos by switching between individual lenses, films and flashes, replaced with “preset” cameras and a generic grid of filter combos… just like the ones in all the also-ran filter apps that weren’t as good as Hipstamatic. Worse, this grid of presets shows little locked icons on the presets you don’t have. I was surprised how many padlocks I saw, I thought I’d bought a ton of this stuff? …ah, but these locks only mean that there is one item in this combo you are missing, a single film you passed on could mean eight padlocks. This is clearly designed to make the user feel like they are missing out on stuff. It feels cheap and a bit greasy. It’s just there to push users toward the subscription service they have introduced. Let’s talk about that… As we hit “peak subscription”, Hipstamatic’s decision to jump on this bandwagon feels like an own goal. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the money to pay a subscription for every app I use. Hipstamatic managed to squeeze money out of me month after month, year after year because it wasn’t a subscription. I would NEVER pay a subscription for a filter app on my phone, but I gladly bought dozens upon dozens of Hipstapacks when they came out. I’ve put a lot of money into this app, money I wouldn’t have spent if it had been presented as a subscription service. I have regularly praised Hipstamatic for this very canny business model. Not anymore, I guess. So I’m deleting this new app. I’m gonna stick with the old version because it’s a better version of the app. And when they inevitably stop supporting the old version in nine months time, I’ll be sad, but I’ll find another filter app. We had a good run. I think Hipstamatic is the app I’ve used the longest of any app. It was one of the first things I installed on my first iPhone and it’s been on my home screen ever since. It’s a shame, but this new version simply isn’t as good and comes with that bad taste in your mouth that you get when a developer gets greedy and manages to kill their golden goose in the process..Version: 1.1

What a mess.Gave it a whirl and it made me throw my device across the room. I get why you wanted to hold on to name recognition but this “update” is just a whole new app. And all the features I like are either gone or buried so deep in the interface it’s like they may as well be gone. I thought the social network push was bad but this is some next level terribleness. And so many pointless gimmicks. Lord the gimmicks! Why do I want to shake my phone to see the picture I just took. That got old three pictures in. I can’t understand why y’all just seemingly aggressively want to torpedo what works but YIKES. If you can avoid updating, stick with what you have..Version: 10.0

Total bloated messAt its core Hipstamatic started life with a simple idea of quality film and lens simulation in a minimalist design. But no more It feels like developers have tried to justify their existence by creating something because they can and as a result the whole system of quick stylish photography has been lost and been replaced by a bloated mess of an app that doesn’t know what it is, has lost its soul and created a navigation system that is so far from intuitive that some options are only available in post processing. I’m not saying let’s go back to how it was but the philosophy that Hipsamatic started with made it stood out for a reason..Version: 10.0

App freezesFor some reason the app freezes while editing photos and zoom in..Version: 9.0

Missing features from the original hipstamaticI took advantage of the lifetime membership being a hipstamatic user since it came to be. It was my go to camera. One thing missing from this new and improved is the ability to do double exposures. The original hipstamatic has the slider on the top left of the camera back that you could use to take a double exposure. The other thing I find frustrating is the new releases of lenses and films are buried in all the lenses and films so you have to create a new camera and then scroll through each lens and film to find the new releases..Version: 1.2

Misleading Anniversary AppI assumed going through the tutorial that all of our purchases from the previous apps what go across. Unfortunately it seems we have to part with more money for this anniversary app that will only entice loyal Hipstamatic users. Give us a sign in option to restore purchases from all other apps we have invested in..Version: 1.1

A step backwardsThis isn’t retro, this is a step backwards compared with the regular Hipstamatic. Way more style than substance. I’m deleting it..Version: 1.1

Needs better connection optionsI would love to use this more but the iCloud contacts sync has never worked for me so it’s impossible to find people I know..Version: 9.0.4

Fix sign in and allow sign in with current accountI already have an account i don't want to create a new account with apple ID signup????!! Fix fix fix !!! What kind of Amateurs are you??? Also i have paid for a lifetime subscription for a product you no longer have???? If you want a social network release a new app!!!.Version: 9.0.2

I’m not going to start overI was an original user of Hipstamatic and accumulated many lenses and films, spending a nice bit of money in the process. I just tried downloading this new version and needed to create an all new account, and would need to subscribe to get access to all the stuff I already had. No thanks..Version: 9.0.1

Charging again!Advance press for this said I could import all my existing Hipstamatic purchases. However, once you’re in the app, it transpires the only option is to pay again. And for new customers, the pricing is ridiculous!.Version: 1.1

Took a simple idea and ruined itWhat should be simple and fun is ruined by an overly complicated interface. Can’t see any way to just change films to black and white for example. Everything is locked down unless you pay, would be good to have a couple of basic things available to try out. The original app was much better and more intuitive. Shame, I had high hopes for moving back to this app as my go to phone camera. Need to fix interface and free up at least one or two more options for cameras/films..Version: 1.1

UselessStarted using Hipstamatic since my first iPhone 3. Got lifetime membership but deleted the app because I can’t seem to find any use for it. Hipstamatic original app is better. I should remind myself I should never buy any new apps from Hipstamatic. Their attention span on their apps other than Hipstamatic tends to be short. their previous photo apps don’t work anymore. This app also felt like money down the drain and sadly it doesn’t feel like this one will last either. Many useless features yet not really practical for actual photography. Don’t bother. Waste of money and time..Version: 8

Only buy if you’ve never used the Original appI have been using Hipstamatic since iPhone 1. The ease and simplicity of the app since the beginning is the real retro appeal. This new version is only good if you’ve never used the original. Then I am sure the interface and idea are retro as in an 80s style. 10 years ago when Hipstamatic “Classic” came out is was a real 70s style retro camera. I prefer the old ‘Classic’ than this modern take. Nice idea. But when I reach to take a fun photo it will be the Classic app. Not this one..Version: 2

MisleadingThe dev responses here say I should be able to import my favourites from Hipstamatic 355 (which is what I have) and to contact support if I have any issues. I contacted support, to be told something about Hipstamatic 300 not being supported for imports. No response after I sent screenshots of the dev response on here, and proof of the version I am using. I paid for this but will be seeking a refund, clearly does not work as it should. The methods the support team use are annoying also - sending automated messages to double check I really need support (yes, I do) and then sending generic responses without validating the possible causes..Version: 1.1

WeirdSo if I got this right, it’s more or less the same app but redesigned and now I got to subscribe or pay 40$ ( for a limited time) to get the same films/lenses/cases I already have ????? 🤔.Version: 1.1

PointlessThis app is pointless. Why not just continue to update Hipstamatic? I hope this doesn’t mean the end of what was already an excellent and fun app to use..Version: 1.2

I like the idea of this app but DANG!Why can’t I take a photo without it crashing EVERY TIME? Why with the update today, March 22, 2023, am I unable to get past the login? To be clear, the page that is stuck is the “Let’s get your profile set up”. My info is already populated. After that, the app hangs… REALLY?!??? This should be easy by now. Get it together folks. March 23, still crashes at “let’s get your profile setup”…March 23. 17:05 Hangs at “let’s get your profile setup”…UPDATE March 24 Previously installed app still crashes when getting to. Let’s get you profile setup” on iPhone. Was able to get a profile set up on an iPad that had only been used once to take ONE photo. Many of the stickers in my passport are missing. I have shot every day since the 2019! What happens if I delete and reinstall from scratch on my iPhone?!? UGHHHHHH! Not ready to risk it yet..Version: 9.0

This is horrible! The lowest point in Hipstamatic history..Version: 1.1

App looks funHowever I was told by email my previous purchases will be transferred into the new app for free but I am not seeing that..Version: 1.1

RIP-off...As per all the others, love the original. This is nothing but a cynical money spinner. Can’t even access my previous purchases with the new features. Not good at all. Would give no stars if I could..Version: 1.1

Temporary photos for a paid membership?? What crap.Let me know when I can display my work permanently and I'll happily sign up. Until then, the idea of paying a fee for the privilege of having my work deleted is laughable. To anyone reading this: ignore these clowns and use Glass instead. Great community without ridiculous artificial limitations..Version: 9.0

So badCan’t remove the feature, it’s all over it. I only want see my own filters..Version: 9.0.1

I’ll stick to the original..I understand what they were trying to do but the user experience in this new app is very disconnected. I purchased almost every pak in the original and yet it’s hard to find what I have in my camera bag without being bombarded by what’s ‘locked’. It’s hard to see my films, lenses, flashes, or to navigate where they are all located without some searching. As a user that enjoyed the fast editing abilities the original app had by switching lens and film combos and seeing things reflected in real-time, this app is really lacking. Everything was made to be so simple that key features that made Hipstamatic a long time favourite are now hidden. I normally don’t write reviews, but I’m in user experience myself and honestly, this new application is like playing ‘I Spy’. It would help if the onboarding was more descriptive instead of so gimmicky, as it looks cool but is it helpful? Not really. As a hardcore Hipstamatic user, this new app is all about upselling premium membership and it just feels so limited. I don’t know about this version guys. I hope you keep the original alive because its experience and even the interface is by far much better..Version: 1.1

Where are the new lensesPaid for members club and have not seen updates since July. If there’s any add on lenses in the original Hipstamatic we should have it here as well it should be automatic. Wasn't that the reason for paying the membership. I’ve purchased so much lenses on on original app. I love Hipstamatic just want to have the updated lenses here for paid club members..Version: 8

Dreadfully dissapointing£23 a year or £200 lifetime purchase to access decent cameras. Having a laugh with that. Nothing worthwhile in the basic pack..Version: 1.1

CrashesHey Hipsta Sort out your crashes! I’ve just renewed my membership and it’s constantly crashing. Loses my edits! Never saves them or even that I can’t save a particular easy auto style. I’m losing interest in this app. I might ask for a refund..Version: 8.3

Laughably expensive£199 for a lifetime licence.........nuff said. When I saw the new Hipstamatic app I immediately searched for my old Hipstamatic app to find it is no longer in my purchases. Presumably it is unsupported now so I urge buyers beware that after paying £199 or subscribing monthly for the same cost as a Spotify and netflix account that when the iPhone XX is released the app will no longer work or be supported. For this price you could buy a real toy camera and about 20 years worth of film.... Anyone else remember the time apps cost £0.49 and were so popular their developers made money. Just goes to show the crapper the app the higher the cost..Version: 1.1

1 problemIt’s an amazing! but i’m not enjoying the fact that if you were to delete a photo from the app it also deletes it off your personal photo gallery.Version: 6

Very disappointingWas looking forward to using this new version but it’s lacks a lot of the features of the original. You can’t open a photo from gallery to edit. You can’t seem to change the lens to anything other than the preselected styles. Finding a lens that’s imported is much hard - just like finding an app on the Apple Watch!! The subscription should allow access to everything in the original app. There’s no viewing of metadata for the photos - location etc. If you can benefit from the discounted lifetime membership then you might be lucky in future releases but currently worthless. The original app now has a SnapPak called Sprocket how do I access these lens and know they belong to that pack? But most of all - I’ve paid for lifetime subscription I expect the original app to make all packs available to me for free..Version: 1.1

Hipstamatic joins the subscription model. The app seems to work ok from my limited use of it. However, having already spent an enormous amount of money on Hipstamatic over the years, I refuse to subscribe to a subscription style camera app. Simply cannot justify it..Version: 1.1

Very disappointedUpdate: now the app forced me to join their social media platform and now my name is searchable. I don’t want this at all and invades my privacy. If they don’t fix this soon, I will have to delete the app. I was lead to believe that hipstamatic (regular) users could simply download our current equipment, but that’s not so and it costs $30 to boot. Makes me wonder what their intent is for the other app..Version: 9.0.2

Doesn’t work on iPhone seThe latest version doesn’t work on iPhone se. The feed screen where you see you profile and posts is to big for the size of the se screen meaning you can’t access some functions including settings..Version: 9.0.3

Seems PointlessI downloaded this because i remembered having the old app years ago and liking it a lot. It was fun you could combine different “flashes”(obviously there wasn’t a real flash, but), different “films”, and then different filters and effects, some of them really different with trippy distortions and mirroring of your image and some of them just simple colour/texture filters. This just seem basically like regular instagram colour filters with a few exceptions that don’t even look that great in my opinion. AND it’s super expensive on too of that, the app maybe be free but when i tried to save an image with a filter it said you have to pay to become a member. There may be cooler effects after the pay wall but from what I saw I was not interested especially for such an expensive one..Version: 3.2

Paid for most of this alreadyI bought most of the lenses and films already and now you want me to pay for it all again?? No thanks..Version: 1.1

Crashed during tutorialIt crashed on the first pic I took, during the tutorial. I don’t have the patience for an app this glitchy..Version: 3.1

PaidI waste the time of payment for the apps. I hate to paying for the apps. Pay for a month!.Version: 9.0.2

It hardly matters how good the app is......because the new business model is greedy, greedy, greedy. So, it imports all the stuff I’ve already paid for from the classic app. Big whoop, when it then wants £23 a year or a £200 one-off payment. (The grandfather offer seems to have gone for decade-long users who didn’t spot the new app quickly enough). So...no. The devs are absolutely entitled to make a living. But not to take the p**s with long-standing customers who have already spent plenty of money with them over the years. I can make novelty photos with many other apps thanks..Version: 2

Can’t access app since the new “social media site” upgrade.Hello, all. With the most recent upgrade to Hipstamatic X, I’ve been unable to open the app. There’s no way to bypass the startup screens leading you to open your “social” account. I’m not interested, and since I won’t allow Hipstamatic to access my iCloud, I can no longer use the app, which I paid for ( lifetime subscription fee, btw). Help? Addendum: Update stop still won’t let me past the set up screen. No joy. I don’t want to use my icloud account for this. Please just let me use the app I paid for, and really like, btw..Version: 9.0.1

GreedI was one of the original users of Hipstamatic classic and I regularly bought camera kits from them. I decided to give the new one a go as it stated my purchases would be restored, this is not strictly true. I clicked the restore option and was given less than a handful of available kits and the pinhole I had preciously bought kept prompting me to join the club to use at a monthly fee. Almost none of my original purchases were restored and I’ve since deleted the app. If your new to Hipstamatic this is great you have no lost purchases to worry about but otherwise this is simply a move towards subscription based service as opposed to pay per kit release. Its a greedy move and wrong to make early adopters pay again for kits that kept them in business. I have since gone back to the classic app and my original paid for kits without subscription..Version: 3

Confusing...I’ve gotten everything offered by Hipstamatic over the years. This new app sounded interesting. Unfortunately trying to select a film turns out to be an extreme challenge. Why not offer a list in addition to icons...to make it faster to customize a camera?.Version: 1.2

Unusable and crashes nonstop.Update (03/22/23) Hipstamatic 4.0 No longer able to use the app. Crashes as soon as I try to sign in my apple account. So I can't even get past that in order to use the camera function, making the app completely and utterly unusable for me. 🤦‍♀️ This is unfortunately the quality I have come to expect from Hipstamatic. I knew I shouldn’t have updated to the latest version. --- This app is completely unusable on my new devices. Progressively worse each new device I get, in addition to updates. I can only take one photo and the entire app freezes. It's incredibly slow, and freezes/crashes when I try to do anything other than take that first photo. It's awful. I have always loved hipstamatic, but the quality of their apps is going downhill. They're becoming unusable and outdated. They need to hire a new or more experienced dev team, because they can no longer keep up with the new devices and iOS's..Version: 9.0

So.....Seems my Hipstamatic gear transfers to this new app. Good. But I have to pay (whichever model) to use them. Bad. “Don’t edit. Just Shoot” so no editing facility. Bad. As a ‘special deal’ I can pay £29 to use the gear I’ve already bought. Really?! If you take a picture you can ‘edit’ with what seems to be previous purchases. Does this mean no need for subscription? What’s the thing about camera cases? Do people really swap cases? In pro mode you never see them anyway. There are some nice touches to the interface..Version: 1.1

Devs dropped this alreadyWas excited about this app but feel that the Devs have now lost interest, no updates for a while..Version: 6

Where’s the restore then? -5 not 1 starSo you send me a long winded email with ore-order and all my old hispsta purchases would be restored... well I tried restore and nothing happened Was this just to get me to download your app and buy more? No chance whatsoever! I’d give you -5 stars if Apple let me..Version: 1.1

Why? a light version of the original Hipstamatic appThis new app feels like a light version of the original Hipstamatic app which is my all time favorite photo app. I invested a lot of money in add ons and I truly hope Hipstamatic won’t get replaced with this basic photo app.Version: 1.1

What a rip offNot cool you guys... not cool... This is a rip off You could at least allow us to use the app with the lenses and films we have previously purchased! Now I have to pay £5 a month to use the pinhole lens? I’ve already bought it on the existing app! This is seriously uncool You should be ashamed Why not just update the existing app to make it into this? Allow for a separate purchase system and a subscription system to work alongside each other to accommodate all customers Like I said Not cook you guys... not cool....Version: 1.1

Buggy launch. This first (?) iteration of the app is slow, glitchy and has a few visual bugs. Hopefully an update will squash a few of these issues but I appreciate the community and not being sold non-sense for my attention left and right..Version: 9.0.1

Paid the $60 lifetime but doesn’t always workI try to restore purchases and it says they are restored, but it still says Join. Need a more customer friendly of remembering when a customer has made a purchase..Version: 8.9

Mist annoying intro tutorialVery annoying and long intro tutorial. Then it gets stuck at the last permission. Relaunched app had to go through annoying tutorial with loud obnoxious music all over again. Got stuck again so I’ve lost interest. Delete.Version: 1.1

Charging me for what?So I’ve been a fan of Hipstamatic and followed them through the original, the upgrade and their side apps like DSPO, tintype, and their photo booth app. I’ve bought close to every single lens-film-flash they’ve released to date. I was excited to see something new for them pop up and pre-ordered Hipstamatic X. I like the app itself- nice appearance, clever groupings of the presets and Eazy camera is clever at suggesting perfect presets when editing a shot. What does not impress me at all is the requirement to pay a subscription to play with all the camera gear I’ve already paid for. Or the dangling carrot deal of paying a $50 for a lifetime subscription this week only to access all my camera gear I’ve already purchased.... else be stuck paying a monthly/annual subscription or a hefty $320 for a lifetime subscription- with no mention or promise of how regularly new camera gear will be released. So essentially- a subscription to use what I have already paid for at a higher monthly cost than the snap-paks are usually charged... Nope. I’ll just stick with the original thanks..Version: 1.1

HmmmmmmJust proves that in app purchases are the equivalent of chucking money down the drain. £199 for what now? If they discontinue the classic version I’ll be petitioning Apple for my money back that I’ve spent over the years buying new lenses. Also don’t forget folks, as this is a now a subscription based model so you don’t own anything and will become useless the minute you stop paying. Aside from that. The app has a better design than the old one but doesn’t offer much customisation. Haven’t figured out how to change just the film or the lens, only offers the change of camera..Version: 1.1

£199 for lifetime subscription - oh boyNo lenses transfer from the old Hipstamatic and the UI and introduction is godawful. I can definitely see the brand and aesthetic but it’s a swing and a miss..Version: 1.1

Where have my old purchases goneThis is confusing. Presumably this is the new app to replace the old Hipstamatic. I’ve been using this app right from the start, and bought loads of lenses and films. Now this app seems to use a subscription model, which is fine - I don’t have a problem with that per se. But I do have a problem with there being no way to keep your old lenses and stuff from the previous app. The makers are being deliberately vague about what happens to your previous purchases. The initial email said something about special deal for existing customers like me, but I don’t see it. The new app is quite well designed, and if I were a new user would be tempted by the subscription but at £4.49 a month it’s a little bit pricey. £199 lifetime purchase is outrageous! That’s like 8 or 9 years worth of the annual £22.99! I like this new app but I want to be treated like a valued customer and not a new one..Version: 1.1

Hard to be OriginalI really don’t see any point behind the app - because the thrill of using the new hashtag. It’s basic , feels messy , things tucked everywhere - you have to pull down to view menus etc. I like change , but this I feel doesn’t stand at par with the real Hipstamatic. Everything is becoming subscription based these days , but it’s a hefty price tag for this app. I’ll stick with the old Hipstamatic - hopefully it continues to be updated..Version: 1.1

Updated app to introduce RentwareThis app is nearly useless without the paid upgrades. To the developer: When you offer in-app purchases with a monthly fee you are unquestionably sustaining Piracy. Rentware is not ok. It is a cancerous system that forces your customer to repurchase the software regularly. It is unethical..Version: 4.1

TerribleI’ve had Hipstmatic since it debuted years ago and I loved it, but this new app keeps crashing and you can’t log in with old account infi. The new app does not allow you to log in with anything other than your current Apple ID passcode after you download/update it and seeing that I have a brand new phone with a new Apple ID, it’s forcing me to create a new account. Currently, I’m only able to use Hipstamatic on my old phone and I really wish I could use my new one but it’s not allowing me to log in with my existing account. PLEASE FIX!!!.Version: 9.0.1

Close but no cigarI’ve been with Hipstamatic almost since the start. Bought heaps of packs (and still do), used the print service and is the one app that has been on every iPhone I’ve had. This new version, well..... Close but no cigar. If you are experienced with the ‘proper’ Hipstamatic camera, this new one seems, and is, basic. Honestly, for an existing user I do not see the point. For someone new to the whole Hipstamatic thing, then this may be of interest but the ‘membership’ thing might put people off. I know I hate subscriptions for all but a few vital apps/software. Luckily for me and all other existing users, Hipstamatic seems to have made it very clear that they are going to develop both in tandem, which is a wise move on their part, as forcing long time users into a new model and camera would, I think, kill their user base. So if you’ve never tried Hipstamatic, give it a go, the new camera is neat, but if you are a long time user like me, the core camera app is what you’ll want to stick with. And I really liked the retro 8bit intro :).Version: 1.1

.......Version: 9.0.3

Rebuy Everything? Really?Hipstamatic was the one of my first purchases on my first iPhone. Over the years I can’t really imagine how many of those $1.49 lenses, films or bodies I’ve purchased. Certainly spent more than any other app. It was alway one of the core apps on any new iPhone for me. And now you want to to rebuy everything through a subscription or a ‘one-off’ $46.99 (up to $319 in just a week’s time’). The new interface looks nice, but when 7/10 options are padlocked, I guess all my old lenses did get transferred for free, but won’t be suggested. I’ll probably still fire up the old Hipsta from time to time, but there are just too many other, better, and honestly, far cheaper options out there now..Version: 1.1

Why?I've used hipstamatic since release - it's fantastic! My goto camera on the iPhone. I've seen absolutely no advantage in this release, less editing functionality, no zoom etc. It makes absolutely no sense to me...if you have a large original collection of plugins for the original I'd suggest you stay with it..Maybe I'm missing something but it just seems like a money making automatic easy peasy variation..Version: 2.1

Doesn’t work on iPhone 13 Max ProI used to really enjoy this app. But it basically stopped working after I got the iPhone 13 Max Pro. Would freeze up or crash. Photos were rally blown out or underexposed in my saved lens/film combos. Really disappointing too. I used this app for years. Deleted it a couple months ago..Version: 9.2.1

Useless without the subscriptionSo with the most recent upgrade the lifetime subscription is now £54.99. No longer a discount for classic users, instead we can get 3 months free then 6 months at £9.99 - yet the monthly price is £4.49 so really we’re paying extra for the benefit of a free trial? I’ll stick to classic - even if half my packs have disappeared....Version: 6

Where are my past purchases?Disappointing. Where are my past purchases that you promised would be transferred for free when I pre-ordered? A subscription model is dreadfully poor value. If my past purchases don’t appear in the next day or so I will be deleting this useless app..Version: 1.1

The unskippable opening intro...Honestly I almost deleted the app thanks to the painful intro....Version: 1.1

Blatant attempt at a money grab...What a joke. It’s times like this that there should be zero or minus sars..Version: 1.1

Cannot import previous purchases from hipstamaticHow on earth do I import my camera purchases from the previous app?? Also can you guys implement a new search system for camera parts and seperate the locked camera options from the already obtained items? Very annoying to endlessly scroll through camera parts I can’t use just to find ones I can use.Version: 1.1

YawnBasic camera waste of time.Version: 1.1

Hipstamatic for a PremiumThis is a dumbed down version of Hipstamatic running on a premium subscription model. I was emailed about his as I have been using Hipstamatic since it was first launched. I can’t use any of the gear that I have purchased (at least 15 packs) and everything I have tried to use wants me to pay $29.99 Ridiculous way to “re-invent” the app.Version: 1.1

Confused jumble of social garbageI remember when Hipstamatic was my favorite app because it was about taking photos with creative lenses and films. Now it’s just social network garbage on every single tab. I can’t find the lenses or films I used to love (black keys super grain was my favorite). The entire experience of enjoying creative photography to make the ordinary more beautiful and more interesting is gone now. Replaced with sharing and suggestions and points and badges and nothing that matters to me..Version: 9.2

Money GrabI have used Hipstamatic for years and this ‘new’ app is just a subscription service to use the equipment I have already paid for on the old app... This a money grab and if it goes the way I suspect I will no longer use anything from this developer. Two thumbs down. *edit* Just noticed the app just released today but the yearly subscription is advertised as ‘popular’ choice hahaha who do you think your kidding no one has subscribed yet. Lame.Version: 1.1

Disappointing compared to hipstamatic.Compare this to Hipstamatic and it’s second rate drivel charging you for the pleasure of using filters you already bought. Even if you pay for everything it is nowhere near as detailed and useful as the original. It’s just another retro cam/toy cam app.. you can download many apps like this with more filters for free. It’s basically selling the old app over again but without the content or controls the original has. Stick to hipstamatic originals they lasted so long because they are so much better. This is like a rip off of lomolomo which is now obliterated.Version: 2

The OG was better...I’ve been using Hipstamatic for close to 10 years! Most of my equipment never transferred over and the app pushes for one to buy a monthly membership. The plus is it’s easier to edit. But that doesn’t make up for the annoyance of having almost 10 years of lenses / film that I’ve purchased not copy over..Version: 3

Current version very buggyI got this app on launch date and was very excited as I used the original app fastidiously for years and years. It was working great but since the latest update the build a new camera doesn’t work at all. App freezes as soon as you select a camera body. Very disappointing for such a high price point..Version: 9.0.2

Wow...Almost 3 months using the app (no subscription, just my previously purchased hipstamatic filters), I’ve collected a bunch of stamps and after the last update I can’t even see them unless I become a member. What a disappointment... I’ve been using Hipstamatic since Instagram was for iPhone users only. Emailed the team, got no response. Please don’t bother with a generic response to that Hipsta team..Version: 6
