✓ Ok, could be betterI like this game, I play quite a few merge games like this and this one is a tiny bit different as in story line / how it’s done etc. so it’s a bit of a change. It’s easy to play and having no issues with slowness or crashing. I like that you have plenty ads to earn energy. I do think the wait times are much longer than you see in other merge games which means it can be a bit of a slow burner. Also think the points you earn from orders/missions is extremely little to the amount of points you need to level up .. earning on average 1-3points per order yet it’s 200+ points to level up. Board for merging is tiny and no way to expand so you constantly have to sell or trash stuff just to be able to make space to merge. While there is space to bank stuff it is offscreen and has to be brought back to be used. It is also expensive to add single spaces. Higher quality item generators dont seem to have any increase in higher material drops which means you need more and more energy to create a single item of higher level. Of course as you work towards this item you don’t have the space to work on another item when inevitably the generators run out of energy. ✓ Going DownhillMerge Mayor has admittedly been part of my daily routine for the last year or so. The cute art, gameplay, and story are amazing and make the game so so enjoyable. Prior to these last couple of updates, my rating would have been 5 stars. However, I as well as others in the Merge Mayor community have become increasingly frustrated with the game’s descent into a “pay to win” play style, which has become even more obvious with the recent time increase to generator cool-downs, as well as the new event “Mayors Cup” which essentially is only worth it if you’re not up against players who are willing to blow extra cash on this game. One of the appeals of Merge Mayor used to be its generosity with rewards. I realize they have tons of other merge games to compete with, but these recent changes have truly felt like a slap to the face. I was so excited when I saw they updated it and I played it right away, started noticing some things here and there but nothing bad. The worst at the time was maybe an ad froze and I had rewatch it to upgrade my perks. Then I ran out of levels and waited, super excited once again when I saw the update. And I usually get bored with repetitive games but have enjoyed playing this regularly for about two months. ✓ Average gameThe idea of this game is very simple and so is the gameplay, and I mean that in both a positive and negative way. The game is easy and fun but can also very easily become repetitive, tedious and boring. The game, along with most mobile games, relies drastically upon the player watching ads to gain a small amount of energy, energy they need to do litterally any action in the whole game. I understand that the trade off of “free” mobile games is ads but I think the reward from the ads just makes the game feel tedious because of how fast you run out of energy. I find I constantly have to take breaks from the game because I run out of energy and totally forget about the game for a few days. The more people wait and forget about the game the more likely people are to invest less time and eventually delete it. ✓ Level 11 Generators killed the game for meThis was my daily driver, literally the game I played first thing when I woke up and last thing before I went to bed. Over the course of the last six months, I have watched the game get greedier and greedier. Prices on everything went up. Generators gave less and less items and the cool down times were longer and longer. Then came the tournaments, which are pretty much pay to win. That’s fine, you can just ignore them. Then came the bombs to unlock the higher inventory slots, which you’re lucky to get one or two of a month. The chains have become longer, and then finally, the level 11 generators need literally over 100 high level parts, and there’s no guarantee that they’ll give much more than level 10 (no one’s been able to unlock them yet that I’ve seen). Since the new generator upgrade, right after I achieved my first level 10 generators, I find myself unable to play the game for most of the day. I have stacks of unused batteries. But it gets to today, I open up the app like always, and there is a giant Christmas tree with tasks for presents. I have a question, do you not know that not everyone celebrates Christmas? I’m Jewish and celebrate Hanukkah, I don’t see any special task for that. It just bothers me, and I’m thinking about uninstalling the app. Don’t get me wrong, I like it, but it’s just against my beliefs, I won’t be able to play for a month without being reminded of Christmas. And I know I can just avoid it, but I try my absolute hardest to not get involved with things out of my religion, I’m not one of those crazy people who only believe their religion is correct, but I just don’t want to be correlated with Christmas. ✓ Bad Update I Wish Would Go AwayI hate the new update. 1st it’s good that you can do more than one daily quest but some people like me are unlikely to do many per day because I still have other quests to work on. So it’s annoying that now you only have one free change when before it changed at midnight and you also had a free change. So I feel like one change without paying has been taken away from me. I’d rather use the gems elsewhere. Worst of all is the change to the Sport event. Before the reward from playing the event would produce items on the board, and you merged those items to get to the reward to finish the very long quest. You could choose to do the event a couple times and take a long time to merge enough, or you could do it a lot so you got better rewards and better drops to merge faster. Now everything has been converted to points so the ONLY way to progress is to play the same event over and over. And then to top it off there’s a cool down for doing the event so there’s days where you can make no progress at all. They made the event many times worse just to clear some space on the board? Even the second most recent update (mayor points and museum) was OK, since the mayor points introduced new goals. But this most recent update, as of April 5, has ruined the best parts of the game. One of the best parts of MergeMayor was the free to play nature of the game. Sure, coins and gems are available for purchase, but choosing not to buy them didn't have a massive negative impact on the playability. Every day you could watch 4 ads for 25 energy each, and low-level bubble items could be popped by watching an ad. But in the new update, you can no longer watch ads for energy, and all bubble items can only be popped by gems. What was once a masterpiece of a free to play game has been ruined by the developers greed. The farther In the game the coins, gems, and energy should be balanced out more. It could happen when leveling up, Im level 20. The ratio for currency is too highly valued right now and makes it worthless in the end. An example is one space in the inventory is like 100 gems and one of the higher leveled plants is 250ish. It’s just odd and seemed to be a second thought for the usefulness to progress. The seeds should be balanced more, It needs large leveled plants so many times it’s difficult and takes a long time to load. And takes up space so it can be hard to progress when you need so many different high level items. Considering how hard it is to get space in the inventory too, that should be more balanced as well. The major update makes leveling up the town impossible when I have to get so many high leveled items for upgrades when I need them for main quests. ✓ Annoying part of gameI’ve played this game a little under a year and I love it. Normally I’d give it a 5 star but I ran into a problem which really really bugged me. In the storage area of the game, on the top of the screen you have really difficult challenges to get. If you have any of them they get highlighted in green. And if you double click them then it automatically sells whatever is green from your inventory. I had no idea about this so I accidentally sold 3 of my buffalos when I had zero intention on selling them. Was really annoyed cause there was zero prompt for it, there was no indication that the green symbol means you’re selling them I didn’t know. So I sold 3 buffalo which took forever so now I have zero animals. I’m just really annoyed now I have to get those back which will take around a month I’d say. ✓ New updateTLDR: great game, but daily tasks are just ridiculous now and should be reverted or completely removed as they are now. Started playing this game back in the fall of 21 and have been really enjoying it. High quality gameplay, something good to sit down and do every few hours for 10 minutes. No forced ads, plenty of easy ways to get gold and the paid currency, gems. However, the most recent update changed the ease of the daily tasks. As the name suggests, these are tasks you get daily to complete that give you some extra supplies to merge and a special currency to get parts you may need. These tasks used to be pretty simple, being able to be completed in the 100 energy you’re given every few hours. This would give you a good side mission to do instead of grinding away trying to merge to a tier 13 something or other and still assist in getting there. With the recent update, many of the tasks are just ridiculously high tier, giving at least the exact same (possibly worse) rewards. The way I play, it would take at least 4 logins to complete many of the tasks, which I’m not committing myself to, do dailies will just build up in my mission box, something I very much do not enjoy. However, there are a lot of things the update took away and that’s upsetting. 1) I feel like it is so easy to run through energy now. It’s out in a matter of no time and you can only get an extra 75 from watching videos before having to use gems to buy. So my playing time has cut down a ton because I can’t get rid of my inventory, all I have are big items to make. Definitely need more options for energy without having to purchase. 2) the sugar rush cut down and that was a huge hit. I use to save the sugar rush for the end of my evening. You would get 6 minutes of the energy replenishing quick and could end the 6 minutes with 100 energies to continue. Now you only get 3 minutes and it doesn’t keep track so you can’t store any. 3) I don’t feel like the selling to buying is even close. If you need space to make something, you have to trash an item or sell an item for almost nothing compared. You also don’t get nearly the amount of rewards for completing requests as you should for how much is put into it. ✓ Almost a Perfect GameThis game is fun and engaging and I’ve played it for quite a while. It can be very addictive and there are no ads during game play unless you choose to watch one, which I love. There are 3 things I’d love to see change though: A) the pop ups that go onto your board when you make certain types of matches that can only be “popped” by spending diamonds or watching an ad. 99% of the time I don’t want what’s in the pop-up and it takes up valuable board space for a full minute, which means I usually just have to sit there and wait for it to pop. Recently the cost of the safe key has increased from £4.99 to £6.99. I have paid previously but and I no longer but will not pay that much again.
