✓ Amazing adjunct to the Tesla navigation systemWhen planning a road trip, this is my first stop. While the Tesla app is useful while you’re driving, it’s not really available in trying to plan a trip and while not in the car. A secondary bonus of this app is that it prioritizes the lesser amount of time spent charging, versus the number of stops. The Tesla app, on the other hand, prioritizes less frequent stopping, but with more time at each charging station. I generally follow ABRs advice since I’d rather save a few minutes of total charging time in a road trip but pull off of the road a bit more. Plus this gives me the opportunity to stretch the legs and use the bathroom with slightly greater frequency. The app has a strange interface, though and one that takes some getting used to. ✓ Now the most reliable and powerful EV plannerIn recent years I have encountered little to no issues. The UI is intuitive and the routes are planned well. ABRP is the de facto standard app for planning a route in your EV especially if you’re away from your in-vehicle navigation! I am confident they’ll continue to update and improve this service. ✗ Why so power hungry?While the iPad and desktop versions of this app are helpful companions for route planning for EV owners the iPhone version seems to chew through my phone battery in minutes. I’ve reinstalled this app a couple of times but have removed it because it is just too power hungry to be viable. What’s goi g on with that? Also when I click on a pin for a charge point, then go back using the back button the map has zoomed out from the original route and eventually, if I repeat this process, I end up being zoomed out so far I have multiple complete maps of the globe. Still seems to have some bugs to fix **UPDATE**. Following the comments from the developer I have done some investigation. It appears the issue on the phone is that ABRP relies on Apple maps which I had in-installed in favour of Google Maps (I mean who wouldn’t). So it is possible that the high power use was ABRP trying to run everything across the net. Hmm. Also the zooming issue I have tested on a number of different routes with the following results. On my iPad it seems fine. But on my iPhone and MacBook (MacBook is running ABRP via the website) the zooming issue is definitely still happening. All devices are running up to date software versions..FitLike-YaKenVersion: 4.0.30
