A Better Routeplanner (ABRP) for Negative User Reviews

Verify email broken?I keep being pestered to verify my email, after using the system for years, and it wont go away no matter how many times I click the emailed link. Please fix..Version: 4.6.3

Great product - not yet premiumThe routing, charging information and integrations for live vehicle data are awesome - leading the market, and should deserve a premium mark and be worth a subscription. BUT it just falls short on delivering the premium features. Live data from the car requires another paid integration (obd hardware or TRONITY) making it even really expensive. The UX is not the easiest to use in planning journeys and setting parameters CarPlay integration is poor. As a premium feature, it doesn’t run independently so when the phone is used by the passenger, guidance stops. And the map doesn’t work in dashboard mode. Improve the integrations and the premium features and this will be worth the money..Version: 4.2.3

Bad start, getting betterStarted with a one star, now gone up to 3. Some really good features and some annoying ones. Routing could be better, plotting a route to Chatel in France and it took me through Paris. I like a lot of it so will try different routes and hopefully it was a one off. Hopefully more cars will be added that can connect and share live data..Version: 4.0.22

Works well - but the app keeps freezingMost of the app works really well, but since signing up to premium is locks up and freezes all the time. Tried reinstalling, closing, reopening, rebooting my phone. Nothing seems to work..Version: 4.3.1

Brilliant but buggy and expensiveIt’s a great idea and is capable of great things. But the interface is clunky and buggy and the asking price too high for premium features. I love that the devs are frequently updating but the bugs and UX need to improve significantly before I’d be willing to pay..Version: 4.1.14

When it works, it works wellInformationally, it’s second to none. It’ll calculate where to charge and what you need to charge to, to get to your destination in as little time as possible. It’s very accurate. However it’s very buggy in other ways. While in navigation, it doesn’t rotate, which means I cannot put it in my cup holder while charging. It’s also a very energy thirsty app, so you’ll want to be charging when in use. Last thing, the most recent update more or less killed it. As soon as it opens it’s a black screen, and it doesn’t go away. I’ll try uninstalling and reinstalling. Update: I’ve tried uninstalling it, didn’t work, DOA now..Version: 4.0.1

Planning good, UI terribleGreat tool for planning trips. But the UI in the app is horrific. Not optimised for touch, and clearly not tested. Lots of silly UI problems like truncated text, hiding import information like charge network, no ability to dismiss keyboard on some text fields, tiny tap targets, and confusing symbols. Certain fields once selected have to be edited, you can just cancel an accidental tap etc etc. I really wish the devs would put more effort into building a touch first interface, rather than trying to butcher a desktop interface into a phone interface. Just results in a horrible experience for everyone..Version: 4.1.10

An overly complicated nonfunctional piece of junkDon’t make the same stupid mistake that I did by purchasing an annual license only to find the software does not work and is just as much a fail as the absolutely non existent customer support. Almost every entry leads to a “We could not calculate your plan.” This is with default settings and simple trips. Forget about round trips, then I get all kinds of error codes. This app is currently not functional. And, of course, when my criticism is public, there is an immediate developer response which actually makes no sense whatsoever if you read it. Try getting something helpful in terms of real assistance if you ask them through support channels though as there is nothing but crickets. And forget about any refund for annual memberships..Version: 4.0.30

Route plannerCrashes on attempting to open. Removed from iPad..Version: 4.0.55

Clumsy interfaceUncomfortable app to use with small buttons, general laggyness and input fields covered by software keyboard. More thought should be given to whether a web app which may have good underlying functionality is ready to be shipped as an on-device app like this..Version: 4.0.44

AwfulI have persevered with ABRP for a month now and find it worse than useful. For example it tells me that to complete a 165 mile journey I will need to stop 4 times to charge, but my car happily completes it in just a single stop. If I switch car play away from the ABRP screen, it shows me in the wrong location when I switch back and spends ages trying to route me back to the start if my journey - the only solution is to cancel and replan the route, but even then the current location is often still wrong. For me the best solution to EV route planning is Apple Maps for navigation and Zap Map or Electroverse for finding a charger when I need it. Using ABRP to plan ahead is useless..Version: 4.7.2

Used to work wellThis app used to be great but now it keeps logging me out and then repeatedly asking for verification emails. Also doesn’t seem to have an up to date database, for example it missed an Evie fast charger 100 metres from my location..Version: 4.6.4

Want to love it.One of the most painful apps to use. entering an address is the most frustrating thing in the world. sometimes it allows you to type. sometimes it doesn’t. sometimes it remembers what you just typed in, other times it doesn’t. if you are lucky enough for it to accept two addresses in a row and actually get a route from it, it is very helpful. but that the core functionality remains so broken for so long is enough for you to look elsewhere..Version: 4.3.4

Ok but no newer Tesla modelsI like the premise of the app and what it's supposed to do, so it gets an extra star for that. I'm new to EVs with a 2023 X, but that isn't available to select at all. "Newest" model is 2021. I get I could use it generally, but the purpose for me at least is to help with range anxiety. And right now I'll stick to Tesla's own system in my car. This came recommended from another Tesla-owning friend, so it's unfortunate that it falls short. I can overlook the minor UI things people are complaining about, but I can't overlook an EV charging trip planning app's lack of support for my car..Version: 4.3.7

2-stars in generousExtremely buggy, confusing and doesn’t save any of my preferences. Don’t bother..Version: 4.0.29

Won’t even openApp won’t even open. Just hangs on the splash screen forever. Useless..Version: 4.6.8

Too expensiveThis is a decent app but it’s just too expensive unfortunately..Version: 4.0.45

BrokenApp is not working properly. No nav shown. Cannot see trip overview on map. Live car data not working..Version: 3.9.0

Why so power hungry? While the iPad and desktop versions of this app are helpful companions for route planning for EV owners the iPhone version seems to chew through my phone battery in minutes. I’ve reinstalled this app a couple of times but have removed it because it is just too power hungry to be viable. What’s goi g on with that? Also when I click on a pin for a charge point, then go back using the back button the map has zoomed out from the original route and eventually, if I repeat this process, I end up being zoomed out so far I have multiple complete maps of the globe. Still seems to have some bugs to fix **UPDATE**. Following the comments from the developer I have done some investigation. It appears the issue on the phone is that ABRP relies on Apple maps which I had in-installed in favour of Google Maps (I mean who wouldn’t). So it is possible that the high power use was ABRP trying to run everything across the net. Hmm. Also the zooming issue I have tested on a number of different routes with the following results. On my iPad it seems fine. But on my iPhone and MacBook (MacBook is running ABRP via the website) the zooming issue is definitely still happening. All devices are running up to date software versions..Version: 4.0.30

Great appGreat app but there’s a few things that really make it a pain to use: 1. Sometimes when the app loads, it opens up on a zoomed out globe view of the earth and I can’t zoom in or pan, it just snaps back out to the ultra-zoomed out view. 2. If I try to put in a negative temperature for outside temperature, it says invalid input..Version: 4.0.11

Sad…Unable to input specific details for trip - won’t bring up keyboard to type. Location is able to find current location but otherwise app connected to Tesla account is useless.Version: 4.2.9

Route planning is amazing. In-car navigation needs a LOT of workI really want to like this app. The route planning flexibility it offers is second-to-none. Unfortunately, it all falls apart when you’re actually out on the road navigating the planned route. Frustrating glitches make the entire experience untrustworthy, especially when using CarPlay with live SOC data. It will often report weird SOC values, pop up alerts for faster routes that don’t exist, get confused on when you’re charging, and on and on. If you are patient, you can make it work, but it’s just frustrating trying to figure out what’s going on while you’re on the road. I think the developers really need to focus on getting the CarPlay and live SOC experience to a more reliable state. Also, it desperately needs support for CarPlay Dashboard..Version: 4.2.12

Over hypedI saw so many YouTubers praising this app. I found it clunky and buggy. It allows you to set your trip departure time and charge which is great. But this feature only works some of the time. Also it sometimes skips over Tesla superchargers that are en route and instead advises you to travel to the interstate instead. It sometimes takes a long time to respond and will time out claiming I have no internet connection. I tried submitting feedback but it refused to acknowledge my account password despite the fact I successfully logged into the app with the same password minutes earlier..Version: 4.7.3

VW eGolfAny plans to add VW eGolf support? (35.8-kWh).Version: 3.9.0

Seems to be outdated despite updatesMy car Mokka-e isn’t even listed. Some chargers had no information.Version: 4.1.16

App is brokenThat last three times I’ve tried to use the app over a few weeks, it shows offline even though my phone is connected fine. It can’t search, can’t load anything. Tried re-installing, checking permissions, no dice. The developer said the programmers are competent, but the app seems broken… Interestingly, I just used the website which works fine when the app is “offline”..Version: 4.0.46

Routing and GPS Lock is awfulSo much to like about this app. The car information and OBD integration is great although actually displaying the information more dynamically would be useful - just the battery % on the main screen is not enough. The massive issue with the app is it does not do the basics. Routing is awful it’s constantly trying to send you down side roads and small lanes. This is compounded by constant feeezing and inaccurate GPS positioning. It’s not like this is the first review saying this. Please sort it out or sell yourself to Waze or TomTom and we can actually have a BETTER experience..Version: 4.3.3

Poor navigation usabilityI like the routing of ABRP and have used it on web for a while. I decided to pay for a subscription ahead of a road trip and 10 minutes into the trip it was changing my (saved) route without any warning except telling me to exit 100 miles sooner than expected. I can understand suggesting a reroute and giving an explanation on why, but just changing up the route unexpectedly is not great. Then when I exited out, used Apple Maps to get to the next charging location, and went back to ABRP, it hadn’t logged any of the miles in the mean time and had reset. So it thought I had full battery. I’ll go back to using web to make an initial route plan and use Apple Maps or google maps for the actual navigation. It seems like it’s only a matter of time before one of those apps has comparable functionality and ABRP becomes irrelevant..Version: 4.5.2

Does not work with Hide my Email. Have to setup manuallyDoes not work with Hide my Email. I have to go to Hide my Email, create a new account. Go create in password a new one and put my Hide my Email I create and password. Copy the Email address, create account in the app with Email, go back to password to copy the password created and paste it in app. The app seem to not want to make it easy to use Hide my Email.Version: 4.1.9

Apple CarPlayIs there a free trial period before paying for a subscription?.Version: 4.7.2

Poor route planningUsed the premium version of this app to travel from Liverpool to Portsmouth and was very disappointed. It’s massively overestimated my consumption ( by around half) wanted me to recharge way more often than necessary (5 stops suggested when I managed the journey in 3 never going under a 50% charge), and choose some very peculiar routes. Worst of all though, it has a taste for directing you off motorways, only to immediately rejoin them. Infuriating. 2 stars because we did arrive at our destination- but I was ignoring it for the last 50 miles.Version: 4.0.45

Add more connectivity optionsApp would be better if there was a direct connection option using cars actual internal sim connectivity such as kia connect or Hyundai blue . This would make me more inclined to subscribe over having to pay for other attachments or other apps as well.Version: 4.6.4

Not A Great AppWe’ve used this app quite a few times, and honestly I’m about to uninstall it. It’s constantly taking us to chargers that don’t exist or are broken down, won’t let me adjust the starting battery percentage, and deletes my routes in the middle of driving. It’s slightly helpful for giving you an idea of where to stop, so you can use the ChargePoint or EVgo app to check if there’s actually a working charger. This app has definitely caused us more frustration and close calls with battery running out than helping..Version: 4.3.9

Good routes but maddening interfacePlans routes nicely. But the interface is absolutely horrendous to use..Version: 4.0.24

Great route planner. Poor satnavMarket leading route planning software. Google and Apple take note. Ability to export to Apple maps or to google maps is excellent and totally necessary because dashboard mode / live satnav is really unstable. Gps dropouts while trying to navigate complex French motorway interchanges time consuming and stressful..Version: 4.2.6

Used to be great. This app used to be great. Not sure what happened. Please fix this. Right now it doesn’t work at all..Version: 4.2.8

Amazing! (When it works)I honestly love this app and pay for the premium membership. However, IT CRASHES ALL THE TIME. It’s so infuriating. I spend around 5 minutes before my journey just rebooting the app trying to get it to work. When it does work, it’s truly magical. Takes the stress out of driving an EV and is a must for anyone with range anxiety. They just need to sort the stability and it will be amazing.Version: 4.2.12

Utterly Useless ApplicationApp has great potential but the GUI is uncompromisingly horrible, and by the time you figure it out a new version comes out and it’s changed again. I’ve given up and deleted this pos..Version: 4.4.1

Saves don’t saveWhen you save a route close the app go back into the app saved routes have disappeared bug needs to be fixed.Version: 4.6.1

Route times wrong & date selector issueIt seems like there were some major changes that messed up some things. There was a route I had previously selected to go from my house in the Philly suburbs to Provincetown, Massachusetts, a trip that I know should take about 8 or 8.5 hours including charging time. But now, the same route is being calculated to take 16 hours & 44 minutes, which is about double the time it should be. Something is seriously wrong here. Also, the date selector when planning a trip is behaving wrong. When I select a date, it’s choosing the previous days date. In this case, I’m trying to choose July 8, but instead it’s putting July 7..Version: 4.3.5

Useless when you won’t add new cars to the databaseI can’t use this app because my car (2024 Audi Q8 e-Tron Sportback) is not listed in the car selection. Several dozen people have asked the developer to add this car, and there has been no response other than a canned, “We add the most requested vehicles first.” Since more than four dozen people asking you to add a car that has been on sale for months isn’t enough to get you to do it, I can’t be bothered to pay for a premium subscription. See how it works when you don’t want to support cars that people ask for? It directly affects your revenue. You’ll notice that the developer has not responded to a review in months. Cancel your subscriptions and don’t support developers who won’t support their apps..Version: 4.5.0

Early versions were betterThis used to be a fantastic, easy to use app. It has become really buggy (on an ipad, text or function buttons are often off the screen, can't upload routes to Tesla nav, etc). Overall, it's a pretty poor user experience now..Version: 4.0.11

Something brokeSomething is broken with this last update. Very laggy and at times unusable..Version: 3.9.11

Keep buging uselessAlways said off line and i m not. Give me my money back.Version: 4.0.44

4.3.7 broke app for meI logged in and nothing works—I came to the App Store, and sure enough, the app was updated 4 days ago. My saved EV has been changed to a Tesla, the preferred network has now become the Tesla Supercharger network. While I can change the network to CCS charging, the ability to change the car back is non-functional, so I can’t change it from Tesla. That makes the routing irrelevant for me, since the specs on a Tesla don’t match my ride. Guess I’ll set this aside for a few days and check back to see if there is yet another update to fix what was just broken..Version: 4.3.7

Needs polishedVery informative app but difficult to use with many chargers missing from app. Also, the iPhone widget doesn’t work and rarely updates to show current information..Version: 4.1.1

HorribleThis app is clunky and just terrible to use.Version: 4.7.4

Good idea…..worst NAV app ever!!!I love the idea, but I never use a bad navigation like this one, my god it is hard to set up, not clear. They should not charge anything for such a bad app. Do your work and try it first! It is a waist of money. Got reimbursed..Version: 4.2.9

Just Doesn’t Work AnymoreI recall using this app a while ago for a few roadtrips and it worked alright. I’ve tried this app a few times on a recent roadtrip in our 4th Tesla that we just bought - I can’t get the API to stay connected in my app so my SOC is constantly wrong. Removing the car and re-adding it works until the next stop, then I have to repeat the process. It also took a few tries to get the app to recognize my actual location using the “my position” option for route planning. I’ll continue to follow the app’s development process and hope that these kinks are worked out. However, with how long this app has been around and how popular it is, it’s quite surprising this hasn’t been polished yet..Version: 4.7.4

Unparalleled functionality, UI is a hot messFunctionality and what the app is actually capable of doing is simply unparalleled. No other app that is not integrated with the vehicle à la Tesla, even comes close. Even Tesla app and built-in navigation lacks a lot of the features this app has. The UI on the other hand is about as unintuitive and user-hostile as it gets. You need to study the app for weeks to figure out all the glitches and workarounds to be able to tap into the amazing functionality under the hood. To sum it up, this is the only app I have found it truly serves my needs. I found it well worth the months of learning for what it gains me when planning a trip.Version: 4.6.8

CrashesUnfortunately this freshly installed app crashes immediately on launch on both my iPhone and iPad on iOS 12. :(.Version: 4.2.6

Premium steeper than a steep thing.Conceptually great. The free version does great things but pushing $8Aud per month of premium? I love supporting my devs but that's a big ask. Sorry guys..Version: 4.0.44

Every update breaks featuresAs others mention, the core route planning feature works ok sometimes but then every “bug fix” update should really be relabeled as a “break existing feature” update. Like for example the latest update broke the route planning completely and uninstalling and reinstalling the app didn’t help. A few months ago they broke the routing using L2 chargers. It came back but it’s sporadic and buggy and certain routes that worked just fine with L2 charging before are now completely broken. Anyway, you’d think that they’d be tripping over themselves to make the app usable enough for me to pay the subscription but I think the developer needs to get their house in order and at least be transparent about why features are broken or removed. Also their support forums are a ghost town. So no recourse there either..Version: 4.0.32

Good route planning, but fragile appI do personally like the route optimization strategy to minimize trip time, rather than stops. More frequent but shorter stops end up saving time on long trips. But the app can get itself into a state where it crashes on startup, and the only solution is to delete and reinstall. I did that twice on my last trip. When live monitoring the car at a charging stop, if you switch away from the app, it is likely to get very confused when you return to it. It will have lost the plan it had been following and will tell you that the current plan is not viable, but offer 0 alternatives. If you clear the plan and create new one from current position, it will often crash and not be restartable..Version: 4.0.42

Could be really good but the UI is terrible. It takes forever just to figure out how to input starting point and destination. It’s been that way for a long time and I always thought this app/web app would end up being great and that it was only a poor user interface because they were just getting started. But it’s been this way for years now and i fear they aren’t going to make it any better… I’m still rooting for them but I wonder if the car manufacturers will have surpassed them by the time they get their interface fixed..Version: 4.1.14

Not easy to use and inaccurateSo a trip from my address.....to my parents place takes 45 minutes.....without having to stop for a charge at all and not speeding. ABRP says 2 hours....without needing a charge. .....without speeding. Anyone else see a HUGE problem with this? Also yes......as the other review says the correct way to use temps is like this: -4c. NOT 4-c..Version: 3.9.0

Aggravating to useGreat concept for an app and it seems like the features I need to plan a trip are here… somewhere… but even just the basics of entering a trip seems too complicated for me to figure out how to do. And the estimates of travel distance and charge times don’t make any sense. The UI of this app is so cumbersome and complicated that I get frustrated every time I try to use this app, every 6 months or so. Edit: I think this app is completely broken now, trip estimates are 10x what they should be..Version: 4.3.9

This app is a messI almost never write reviews on iOS apps, but I’m making an exception here because this app is that much of a mess. The route planning isn’t even working. If you enter a destination, it basically draws a straight dotted line between the starting point and destination, and that’s it. It’s like it doesn’t even try to route your trip, let alone factor in EV charging like it’s supposed to. There’s what appears to be a button in the bottom right corner, but it does nothing. Maybe it’s just a logo? I thought maybe something was up with my account (or maybe it requires a pro subscription?) and/or something going on with the app specifically. So I tried logging into their website to try there and rule it out. However, their website isn’t accepting my login (even though I use 1Password, and see that I’m logged into the app with the same email). I tried resetting my password, and never get an email, as if I’m not registered with that email (even though it shows in the app as being logged in). The UX, when it does work, is also a hot mess. I could list all the problems I’ve had with it when it did work, but that’s been too long ago, I can’t remember them. I downloaded this after hearing recommendations from the EV community, but I’ll stick to just looking up chargers on other apps, like PlugShare, ChargePoint and Electrify America, and will be telling others to avoid this app..Version: 4.2.12

Very laggy, not worth the moneyI use an iPhone 12 ProMax, and the cars Screen is laggy and not up to the standards of the likes of TomTom when this satnav is in use, when you have the cars media playing (not CarPlay) the SatNavs voice is quiet, robotic and the first syllables are missing, the syllables return if you use CarPlay as your media and use ABRP with it. I found the display showing several routes all at once confusing and second glances were needed as well. To be honest, I think the in built Hyundai satnav does a better job and doesn’t cost anything, disappointed and really would like a refund..Version: 4.1.1

ConfusingHas the makings of a route planner, but charge stops pop in unannounced, and I can’t see a way to edit them out of the plan. Not worth buying a subscription IMO.Version: 4.2.7

TempératureNe prends pas la température extérieur en compte pour les trajets. J’ai fait un trajet fictif de 400kms, et de -30 à +30 y’a rien qui a changé, pas très utile..Version: 3.9.2

Needs some big improvementsJust tried to use this app. For some reason my destination has been set as my home and I can’t change it this is very unhelpful. I decided to give it a go after I faffed around a lot trying to make it work. While I was driving the app decided I wanted my journey in Km and I couldn’t change it on the move so I had to stop to change it to miles. When I stopped to charge my car it reset back to km again but this time I couldn’t change it back to miles again very unhelpful. Once these problems have been solved this will be a good app. Until then I will not be paying for this app..Version: 4.1.16

Keeps ResettingWhy on earth does this app suddenly keep losing all its saved settings? (Interface preferences, units home address etc etc). Even whilst using the app in the same session (without closing the app) suddenly everything gets resets! Unusable!! v4.4.3 iPhone 12 Pro Max iOS 16.5.Version: 4.4.3

Loads of potentialThis app has bucket loads of potential. At the moment though on my 11 pro it’s really laggy and makes the phone run so hot. There are some serious kinks that need ironing out before it’s really useable. Once those are sorted sure fire 5 star app though..Version: 3.9.12

All the info but terrible implementationThis is one of the most frustrating apps I’ve ever used. Excellent information and route planning is unfortunately tempered by dreadful design choices and a hostile user environment. I am quite tech savvy and this is a real dogs dinner which needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. Devs, please do so, it’s not fit for purpose as it is. It could be truly excellent, and if it were I would pay for premium features gladly..Version: 4.1.14

Great concept terrible User ExperienceThe app would be much more useful if the interface was more intuitive..Version: 4.4.1

Might be great in the US but here in Australia lackingVery limited database in Australia, particularly WA, PlugShare and next charge shows heaps of chargers where ABRP has less than 3% of all the chargers above 7kw. The worst bit, very unstable on current 15.1 OS. Crashes pretty much every second time to enter a route. If it’s at least fixed and made stable I might consider paying for it. Til then big thumbs down..Version: 4.1.9

Poor at long route planningI went for the Premium version too try it on a long road trip and I am disappointed. Map was very glitchy (would constantly twist and turn and contort during travel). It kept popping up route suggestions despite constantly dismissing such notifications. Estimates of range and charging time are significantly off despite manually entering vehicle data. If this was integrated with (ideally) Apple Maps or Google Maps, likely the map issues would decrease. As it is, the integration with various charging networks is good, though the bias towards specific networks by default is somewhat frustrating..Version: 4.0.47

Can’t be fully trustedI used this at the weekend and ended up having to call a recovery vehicle because it directed me to a non-working charger and I couldn’t make it to the next one. I might continue to use it but in conjunction with another app which has accurate information on whether chargers are running or not..Version: 4.2.8

Poor UI, Limited FunctionalityI have used various route planners over the years, with inRoute being my absolute favorite. I tried ABRP for an upcoming long trip with my R1T, and found it very limited in functionality with a most clumsy user interface. Departure time? No. Waypoint layovers? No. Weather prediction? No. Ability to customize route based on speed, temperature, elevation, precipitation…? No. This may be useful for estimating efficiency on a simple route, but as far as planning a multi-waypoint route and being able to customize preferences, it’s not worth much. And yes, I did try the paid version..Version: 4.6.7

Great app but buggyThe departure setting is hit and miss (mostly miss). Is greyed out and cannot update on ios. Did online search and this has been an issue for years on the forums..Version: 4.6.2

Server errorEvery attempt to plan anything says it’s unable to plan due to server error..Version: 3.9.1

New UI is a failI was excited to have a great planning website in app form. Instead we got a clunky UX that’s not as useful as the website was and very frustrating to use. I’ve found most of the old features except “take a long break here” thats important if you’re looking to extend a charge at a specific location for say lunch. The route is impossible to edit and clunky to view in this new app. To add insult to injury you can no longer access the old website on mobile. The king of the route planners is dead to me now. Here’s hoping for another big update. I do realize this is a one person development, who doesn’t use iOS, but it’s time to hire some help or sell the api to a company who can finish what you started. The site was awesome, the app is underwhelming and unusable in comparison..Version: 4.0.9

Only app of its kind, but very buggyThere’s really no app like this on the App Store, but lately it’s been very glitchy. The planning part is the most useful, but lately it’s been telling me there are no viable plans and ignoring high speed chargers along the route. Today it had me arriving with more SOC than leaving, with no stops to charge in between! It consistently fails to re-route during navigation. It’s also doesn’t take into consideration a vehicle’s charging curve, often giving unrealistic estimates for charging times..Version: 4.4.1

I really wanted it to be betterIt’s a really frustrating user experience. I tried this on a up to date iPhone 13 Pro Max and found it to be poor at coping with normal situations like closed roads which sent the app into a loop and it directing me into car parks and other roads that make zero sense. It randomly updates your battery percentage after a stop to the starting percentage like jumping to 90% from 56. Using the manual adjustment also doesn’t work properly to fix it. It also crashes randomly at points in the journey. I ended up using both Google maps and this app on the return journey at the same time. I used Google maps to double check the route ABRP was sending me after it sent me the worst possible route on my outward journey after missing a turn. It’s these real world dynamic situations ABRP is really poor at dealing with as a navigation app..Version: 4.6.1

Promising but annoying** updated review** They do seem to have improved it some with updates. More usable now. I’ll reassess after a long trip I’m planning - but I’m pleased at improvements. ******************************************* JFC. I’m trying to plan a long trip - so this is the first time I’ve really tried to use this app. I’ve almost thrown my phone across the room multiple times. The UI is ****HORRIBLE**** almost to the point of unusable. As there doesn’t appear to be a better alternative I’ll limp by with it. I also tried using the web version which is slightly better but so slow I’ve aged 25yrs. Guess since they are the best game in town - they don’t have any incentive to fix this. There’s no way in hell I’d pay for the “premium” version based on how bad this is..Version: 4.2.10

Let Down By Awful UI and frequent hangsThe functionality is amazing, and the routes are well done, but the UI is absolutely terrible. Its a confused mess of settings and options, hidden buttons, and meaningless options. The entire experience is frustrating to the point where you just want to throw the aop away. Right now the app tells me it has live data but the data is wrong, while the web app tells me it DOESNT have live data but the data it has is correct. Good UI takes complex information and makes it simple to understand and work with. This app does the exact opposite. Very sad. UPDATE the latest version now hangs every time it computes a route on my iPhone. Downgraded to one star..Version: 4.2.12

Doesn’t load after latest update!Use it for planning, not navigating, and it works well for this. After latest update however, it’s stuck on the load screen… not good software validation..Version: 4.5.2

Crazy Illogical RoutesI don’t know how this app makes decisions but it’s supposed “routes” are nuts. For instance, if I ask it for a route for a Chevy Bolt from Pheonix, AZ to Montrose, CO it wants to route me all the way North to Rte 70, which then requires another 60 minutes to get South to Montrose. Worse yet, this route has distances so close to max range that the app has me going 3 hours with the warning “Fo not exceed 45mph”! If I try to “force” a more logical route through NM and Cortez, CO, it then wants sends me on a completely pointless trip West from Cortez just to charge enough to get… back to Cortez… If I put Durango as an intermediate stop instead, it does the same, except it wants to send me East to Pagosa Springs, to charge just enough to get back to Durango. An app that just showed charging stations would be much preferable to this pointless “trips just to charge to get back where you started” game..Version: 4.0.48

Missing ChargepointsIt’s getting better, but there seems to be some time lag between chargepoints being installed and appearing in the App? Example- Coningsby COOP Lincolnshire. It’s showing in ZAP MAP but I can’t get the app to route to it. It appears it’s not there?.Version: 4.0.42

Missing Audi Q8 e-tronThis car model has been released in 2022 but it is still missing 🤷‍♂️.Version: 4.4.6

Not reliableChanges the root and directing to poor chargers even when you specifically wanted to avoid them, even when you make a plan suddenly change the charger and move you from one country to another for no reason( changed our root from France to Germany !!!) At the end chosen our own chargers and used a reliable navigator to get to them , charge and avoid another extra 10 hours of moving around the countries Very disappointed.Version: 4.2.8

Can’t login with googleMy premium account is linked to my google account but whenever I try to login with it, it takes me to the web sign in page I click my google account but then it seems to fail..Version: 4.0.43

No longer works on iPad 2Recently stopped working. Downloaded what is supposed to be the latest version compatible with iOS 12.5.5. However the app crashes immediately after opening..Version: 4.1.3

Buggy, but about the only EV touring app.The only option. But I’d rather use anything else. UI is buggy and difficult to use Routing doesn’t take in account quality of charger, always have to double check the next changer to avoid getting stranded. App crashes all the time.Version: 4.6.1

UnreliableCrashes often while using on my iPhone (before and after ios14 to 15 updates) and while connected to carplay has a tendency to stop vocal instructions before finishing the sentence! Despite trying to reduce the number of charging stops I often get some 10 minute charge stops recommended, which doesn't seem logical to me, unless I'm missing something?.Version: 4.1.1

Great idea but terrible UIThe UI in this app is almost impossible to use. Trying to edit simple things like departure times, SOC, etc all randomly open and close the keyboard, making it close to impossible to set values and even when you do succeed the values don’t stay set. The latest version claims to have a vastly improved UI but it’s even worse than before. It’s just buggy and awkward. The app is best used for doing a rough estimate of your trip, and it’s nice that it has lots of different chargers, and the route calculations are not terrible given the limitations of the UI, but the whole usage experience has got to be a lot better for me to want to actually pay money for it. I find it hard to believe they actually released this latest version with so many obvious bugs. It suggests a company that simply doesn’t care about its users. Honestly how long until all these features get built into Apple Maps and Google Maps, both apps that have slick and sophisticated user interfaces..Version: 4.1.0

Cool but problematicI am not sure how big this company is but the idea and basically simple mentation is amazing pretty much every part of the app however is a bit glitchy which is extremely disappointing. I upgraded to premium in order to unlock CarPlay, which I did at the yearly rate due to the better deal but now, same day I already regret it. The speed limit when it’s shown is shown in kilometers an hour not miles per hour as the application is set the app does not consistently show on screen your next turn. I struggle to be able to find a way to choose a different route..Version: 4.0.35

Could be a great appI’ve used ABRP on two separate weeks away in the UK subscribing for each month. This could a great app if the CarPlay display had more development time put into its screen design, like North up the screen, and the car not disappearing under application windows. Also have the current status of chargers would be a help, as in ZapMap. Don’t think I’ll be rushing to use it again..Version: 4.6.7

Ridiculous routes through SW OntarioCan’t believe some of the convoluted routes suggested Leaving Toronto at 90%, for Cleveland they have me stopping in a downtown office bldg with Supercharger. Out of the way, should route out on 401/403 to NF supercharger. Then they have me going into Bflo to charge rather than going on to Erie PA Don’t see using it again Heading to Cinci they have me leaving 401 to Exeter, a small town way out of the way Another time they tried to route me to Port Huron MI , crossing US border and then cross again back to ON Absolutely useless.Version: 4.2.1

Amazing concept. Poor executionThere’s so much to love about ABRP. The complex journey planning with %soc at each stop is brilliant. I cannot go on a long trip without ABRP. BUT the bad points are very bad. The map UI leaves much to be desired..Version: 4.3.6

Why German! The app is very good, however when I try to access a charge points website, it’s always their German one that comes up. Surely they have English ones..Version: 4.0.25

Planner server errorSince the laser update I could not plan a route . I got always a planner server error !.Version: 3.9.1

Still needs improvementThe functionality of this app in route planning is excellent but the CarPlay implementation is very poor - as has been said many times before. The voice used to give directions is robotic and of surprisingly poor quality. I’ve given up using it on the road. It’s such a shame that the developers can’t apply their obvious skills to make the app much more appealing..Version: 4.4.1

Great route planning UI Needs workNoticed that UI is slow in scrolling and some functions seem to freeze. Also I have my fonts set to larger size and I think this might cause issues with being able to click some commands as maybe they are getting hidden behind other screen elements. It’s either that or the app was not responding. The route planning is good stuff, assuming the app functioning side will get better..Version: 4.0.44

User interface still needs a LOT of workThe idea behind the app is really good , but the U. I still needs a LOT of work . For the price they are for the monthly subscription this should be different. You really need to hire better programmers..Version: 4.0.39

AWRP: A Worse Route PlannnerOn a road trip and trying to use this app on iPhone and iPad and on the website, and the app no longer seems to reliably create route plans like it used to. It won’t route trips anymore including simple two point routes, instead displaying a spinning icon and never resulting in a route. Occasionally I get a route to display, but then any changes or refreshes take a really long time to update. The UI was and is one of the worst of any app I have used, but at least it used to provide some decent functionality, value and usefulness. Now it’s just useless….Version: 4.0.46

CarPlay needs workGreat app but does need some refinements especially in CarPlay. It isn’t possible to start or stop navigation or add destinations, and it would be nice to have some integration with calendar events that have destinations, like the built in Apple Maps for navigating. Navigation also doesn’t appear on the dashboard and no direction popups appear when in another app (eg. Music or podcast) Also, a dynamic chart of charge estimation vs actual consumption would be handy (eg. When using the OBD dongle). I’ve subscribed in the hope this will improve and will happily subscribe every year if it is improved..Version: 4.3.3

V4.4.3 can't save vehicle type on iOS or iPadOSThe app used to work well but after an upgrade no longer seems to work. On iOS and iPadOS it no longer remembers your previous vehicle type and won't let you select a new type. Can't use it without this setting..Version: 4.4.3

New Voice PleaseHaving tried the App on a few lengthy journeys I can say that the navigation is good. It appears to be accurate in terms of distance, direction, battery usage and charging point locations. There are a lot of individual settings which take a little while to sort out - but not impossible. The only thing that will stop me from signing up for a 12 month subscription is the annoying - very annoying synthesised voice. It does give the correct information but it is so irritating 🤬🤬 Fix this and I will pay. If not I will stick with Apple Maps..Version: 4.7.2

Miss titled. A crap route planner would be a more apt name.Route planning interface is very clunky and without the ODB interface a real pain as the current battery level has to be put in manually. Even with the ODB device and therefore live data it can’t take that information and create a route based on the data. I recently drove from Birmingham to Bristol. The planner created a route with a stop at one of the service stations in the M5. Because I needed to do some shopping I charged the car whilst in the store. The route planner didn’t take this new battery level into account as I now had enough energy to get home I had no need to stop on the motorway. The ‘Better Route Planner’ wanted me to stop at the original service station stop and when I didn’t continuously created a new route to return to the motorway service seven as I arrived home. If this were to get sorted it could really be worthy of its name..Version: 4.2.7

UI not greatA good app but the interface could be so much better. I accidentally set a destination address as home and there is no obvious way to change it back other than uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Start typing an address and you can’t go back. No back button. No undo button. On the web I get more than one route option, on the app just one. Every time you open the app it recalculates your last route even when you try to stop it. Deleting prior searches seems impossible..Version: 4.0.16

Update broke the appApp was working fine, then I updated a week ago. Constantly freezes and becomes unresponsive and unusable now. I deleted and reinstalled and got exactly the same thing. “Bug fixes” seems to mean “bug infestation.” Call the exterminator, I’m deleting this and super disappointed because I had just planned a trip with it for my new EV. What a sad failure for what could have been great. Also, why no CarPlay for the free version? Like that’s such a simple feature that most free apps have. The one thing missing and you’ve turned me off from using ABRP again..Version: 4.0.43

Underestimates the distance my car can travelNo matter what settings i adjust, it keeps telling me I can’t complete a 200 journey from 100%. I know I can because i’ve done it, yet this wants me to charge some 80 miles before my destination. On a positive, it does list a good level of chargers..Version: 4.6.8

Great to have as a native app - needs tweaksCan’t enter temperatures below 0C as the keyboard doesn’t have a minus sign..Version: 3.9.0

Misleading CarPlayDoesn’t make it clear anywhere you can only use CarPlay if you subscribe, fair enough but should be made clear in description.Version: 4.0.36

Crashes when trying to open settingsDidn’t even use the app yet, just wanted to see if I could login to my account. Clicked Settings and it crashes immediately. Tried a few more times with the same result..Version: 3.9.0

Great! When it works. This app has everything you want for planning a trip in an EV. But this latest version just comes up with a black screen. Something’s not right... Apparently it has to do with the latest IOS update changing how it opens apps; 4.0.2 is supposed to fix this, but not up yet....Version: 4.0.1

Good for planning but don’t bother with the subscriptionI purchased a subscription for CarPlay access while driving but it’s totally useless..Version: 4.4.1

Little glitchy. Annual plan too expensiveGreat app. Little glitchy. Keyboard does not disappear from screen once editing is done. Would like to get annual membership but at nearly £50 don’t think justified. Monthly purchasing is even more unreasonable. IMHO £25 annually would be more appropriate. Would pay that..Version: 4.0.46

Not great routingThe new interface is better but it’s still overly complicated and the routing is at times bizarre..Version: 4.2.0

Not very goodThis app is completely inaccurate. For my Polestar 2 it shows a 120 mile journey using 80% battery when it actually uses 50%. It used to be a very good and accurate app, but now it just doesn’t work. Even when I change the settings for realistic figures it’s completely wrong..Version: 4.7.1
