✓ This app is about to go underThey’re trying to make this a freemium app with a monthly subscription. So Sad.Version: 5.12.2
✓ Was a 10 star before update.For the past two year I have thoroughly enjoyed your app. Unfortunately that ends today. I understand that you are trying to keep up to date with the advancement in technology but does that need to sacrifice the quality of the app? The app is done beautifully. The colors are vibrant and the advancements are enjoyable; but it’s not reliable anymore. I use to be able to pin point the exact time I would make it to my destination. Literally. I was able to press on a stop on the line and see what other train or buses run in that area. I was also able to then see their arrive time and predict which route would be faster to me. A for some reason that all has vanished over night. The app was so amazing that I made sure that everyone I’ve ever come in contact with downloaded the app; as well as many tourists. I live in New York city so the train are extremely important to us as well as the ability to predict our arrive time. In a city that is heavy controlled by delays of “train traffic ahead” or “sick passengers” we rely on apps like yours to help us get through the subway storms and to our destination quickly and safely. You can change the formula but please don’t sacrifice the quality..Version: 5.0.2

✓ There must be something better than this!Having used a number of transit apps is one of the most unintuitive apps I’ve used. It fails to provide the user timetables for easy planning. It complex and one can’t seek option before or around the required trip time. I would suggest when an update is done the developer focused on the user, how they use it (usually one handed in a hurry) and make the information on trip easy to edit - whilst people are on the move in a hurry whilst using this. ✓ Alerts don’t work when at the requested stopI used the app for a ride just now and it didn’t give me the alert at my stop, and I didn’t realise that I was too far away from the stop until well after the stop. This is totally unsafe considering that the incident took place just after 9:30pm local time. The app needs to work better when it comes to alerting passengers of their stop as a matter of personal safety, especially later at night when buses are less frequent and it’s not as safe out. Please process a refund of my Royale subscription immediately..Version: 5.14.7
✓ Which Direction RTA?The Transit app does not tell you whether to catch the bus going N, S, E or West. So, 4 buses passed me by while I thought I should be taking a bus to a location Southwest of me and walked 3/4 of a mile to the intersections of the main streets that would get me there. The app showed the bus route numbers but not the direction or something like “stand at the NE facing bus stop. Another passenger tried help me understand where the app was telling me to walk to (looked like another mile away) then we asked the bus driver who stopped to pick her up. He told me that I had to ride back downtown and transfer to another bus that would take me in the direction I was going. So, I got on his bus to be taken to the hib. Having to go 24 minutes back to the hub then be taken back another 54 minutes (at least the app tells you the time it will take) is ridiculous when my destination is only 3.8 miles away. And, the app could at least give you explanations ABOUT bus routes so that you know a route no longer exists or “all routes depart from the hub, take the bus headed South” as an explanation underneath the number of the bus the route tells you to take. Until those kind of useful information, rather than just walk icons and bus route number are displayed on Transit, it will never get above a 1 rating for me: people helped me, the app did not..Version: 5.14.4
✓ Realtime trackingDownloaded this app for Orlando Florida. Sadly the real time tracking doesn’t work at all. Last thing you need is being in 34 degrees direct sunshine for 30 minutes when the app says 2 buses have been and gone! There must be a better app out there..Version: 5.4.13

I use this app every day and am upset to see that the bus won’t show as being tracked half of the time now and unreliable bus times.. have missed buses that I was advised wouldn’t be showing up for another 5-10 mins and the app just says “looks like this bus never came” very frustrating as I had learnt to rely on this app rather than physical bus time tables so has caused me to be late to work etc in these instances.Version: 4.4.5
✓ Decent App but too many inconsistencies to justify a subscriptionI definitely like the layout of the app. it’s far better than the official Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit app. However, many times the Transit app shows “tracked” GPS arrival times, but then the GPS icon disappears and the bus never shows up. Transit app developers say that it’s out of their reach because they get the GPS tracking from the agency, but when i go to the official agency app, i don’t see the bus even on their own GPS tracker map. Also, there are many times i see GPS tracked buses on the agency app but not the transit app and vice versa. Overall, I have to go to three different apps to get a somewhat accurate time table. I toggle through the transit app and the official agency app to see if the times are consistent, then because of the national driver shortage, i go to the agency twitter page to see if my route has been cancelled for the time slot, because the transit app won’t alert you of any bus cancellations. Because of all this, i can’t justify paying for this app. I would pay if the app was more accurate..Version: 5.10.8

✓ Not as good as it used to beI used to really enjoy this app. Some things made it less usable in the latest iterations. First, based on the schedule, if a train has departed from a station, I can’t click on to check the schedule; I have no idea when my train will get to my destination, nor can I see if we are on time at the en-route destinations. Sometimes the train is two or three minutes late, and I want to see details, but can’t. Second, before, the entire schedule for the entire day could be displayed if need be. This functionality has been deleted; it only shows trains going forward, which, again, prevents me from checking the schedule of the train once I am on the train. Finally, since I’m a NYC area user, the train is often underground and this I have no signal. I am certain that the older versions uploaded more nearby train schedules, so deep underneath the East or the Hudson Rivers, my connecting schedule will be available. This is no longer the case. I have reverted to using multiple other apps that can accomplish the same thing, but it definitely is not as convenient..Version: 5.0.2
✓ Was originally 5 Stars, but now it’s useless.I am on iPhone SE, iOS 11.4.1. Transit app originally worked flawlessly for at least a year with real time bus location shown on the map. That was the defining useful feature, but after an update maybe a month back now no real time bus location on the map no matter if restart the app, reinstall the app etc. it is just broken. ✓ Worst transit app everI’ve lived in a lot of places and dealt with a lot of bad public transportation communication, and this is by far the worst I’ve ever seen. This app is not intuitive at all and is overall extremely difficult to use while telling users very little information. There’s no schedule listing when the bus will stop at each location, and when trying to look up directions, the app–I assume trying to be helpful?–moves your location away from where you are. There’s also no consistency in how it looks up directions, and it often calculates the wrong travel time, contradicting itself more than once. The font is small and doesn’t adjust to device settings, making it extremely difficult to read the directions. The only marginally helpful feature is the real-time bus locator, which does not work consistently and is difficult to find in the app. It also constantly gives pop up notifications of the same messages, which is just annoying and distracting. I would give constructive criticism, but I don’t even know where to start. Just throw the whole app away and start over. Don’t get this app, it will only frustrate you..Version: 5.12.4
✓ This app does not workThis used to be my favorite app and I would tell everyone about it. There was nothing wrong with it it worked just fine. Then you guys updated it and the update is completely horrible it doesn’t work most of the time. Today I received a notification of a delay that affected my route to work. When I clicked on the notification it took me to the app and did not take me directly to the notification. I wanted to read the full notification but was not able to. When I went to the actual notifications portion of the app this particular notification wasn’t even there! On top of that all the notifications that were there were three days old! I have the app set to notify me at all times as well as I use this train the most. What did you do to make this app not work like it used to? Who’s in charge of testing this to make sure everything functions properly? Once again I’m giving you one star and if I could rate you zero stars I would. This app disappoints me daily now. ✓ Money Gated Viewing LinesThis used to be a basic necessity to view where and when a bus was on route. A recent update “gamified” this app and turned it into a money grubbing gate-keeping app that hides a buses basic info behind a wall. Delete and do not support this app..Version: 5.12.2
✓ Won’t be able to use app once upgrade takes effectI have relied heavily on this app for years for my commutes into Manhattan. It has been a huge help for planning my commutes especially to go into areas I’m unfamiliar with. Unfortunately I won’t be able to use the app anymore after the paid subscription takes effect. I will not be able to access literally any routes that take me into Manhattan. These are the only public transportation routes into Manhattan. The bus stop within a literal 5 minute walk from my house that I rely most heavily on will require a subscription to see its schedule. I will only be able to access 2 local bus routes (which are further from my house and I do not need to take). I cannot afford the paid subscription. I understand they need to make their money to run the app, but restricting every single viable transportation app from free use seems unfair. It seems like they see an opportunity to large profits now. I’ll have to find a new app now because I won’t be paying for this app. Such a shame. ✓ Nice UI but missing main featuresTransit is very pretty and has great UI l, but it’s missing crucial features. It has no notifications of disruptions which is especially necessary in Melbourne with all the metro tunnel works. It’s also lacking trip customisability: sometimes it always suggests I take multiple buses home. I don’t know what it uses to work out the best route but it gives slower and less convenient routes, suggesting buses and trams over trains..Version: 5.5.7
✓ Completely unreliable [One star ⭐️••••]The live tracking almost never works in my city. While that may be more of an issue with the transit service I use (I don’t know what they’re expected to provide to make the app work, so not sure), it’s still beyond frustrating and makes the app utterly unusable for trip planning. Our buses are also late more often than not, at least during the hours I use it, so when the tracking isn’t working (which again, is most days) and the bus is late (which is most days), then the app is straight up giving you misinformation. (It will start to say you have to catch the next bus, when there’s actually still a bus coming any moment.) I used the app a lot when I first started riding the bus in this area, but I use it almost never now (just to see if I’m lucky and the tracking happens to be working that morning). I can never use it for trip planning, it’s completely unreliable. Also, sometimes when the tracking is working, you STILL can’t rely on it being accurate. On countless occasions, the bus I’ve been waiting for will cross paths with the other bus on the same “loop”, and it’s like the tracking completely breaks and suddenly the app says both buses are moving in the same direction..Version: 5.14.11

✓ Getting better(Down below is a review from several months ago and the developers reached out to me pretty quickly about the glitch which I appreciate.) I do have a new piece of feedback. Today a bus was was running 2-3 minutes ahead of the app & its scheduled time, and I watched it pass me as I turned the corner to the bus station. The app was still showing it a few blocks away from reaching the station instead of where it really was, already a block and a half passed it - but that’s not the reason I’m writing this, GPS glitches happen. When I’m on the bus I can rate whether it’s running ahead or behind of schedule, and having watched it go by early I wanted to warn other people further down the line, but I couldn’t. There wasn’t any way to mark it as “running early!!” once I’d missed it. I think that’d be a great feature to add to improve the crowd sourcing. This app had been glitchy for a while - killing phone battery, missing buses and only announcing that they were on their way when they arrived, but today it straight up stopped working, repeatedly giving a “no transit options found” error in the middle of the day.Version: 5.15.14
✓ You have to pay to unlock the full version nowI have used this app for almost 10 years and it has been fantastic. Imagine my shock when I discovered, without warning, that they are now forcing you to pay for it if you want to view more bus schedules. It’s also no longer accurate when buses arrive. I had the GPS tell me a bus was across town, only for said bus to arrive a minute later. It wasn’t even a one off thing, it happened often when I had the WiFi on my phone turned off and used my phone data. Really lame to make you pay for an app that doesn’t function properly anymore. ✓ DETOUR INFORMATIONOverall the app is great but theres no specific place to get information on detours. It notifies me when its happening but if i need to go back and check? sometimes its not there… maybe add a detour section to see all your routes detours if there is any. Also there was no information regarding the event in my city that would let me know in advance that the ONLY bus to my job would just not going to show up during these days… It wasn’t even appearing on the app and googles schedule page would come up blank. I had to download the Moovit app where they, right at the beginning, gave me a VERY obvious information icon on my bus route that told me everything. I wouldn’t consistently use the Moovit app but having to rely on a whole different app for actual information is silly. My bus wasn’t running and instead of making it obvious to riders and presenting it on the app as an important notification its just hid the bus all together. This resulted in me spending $60 on uber when i could have just gotten a ride with a friend/coworker. But I didn’t see that the bus was just GONE. Not even appearing on the app anymore. Detour information should be a very loud icon or one of the first things you see when you open the app and that information should be accessible ANYTIME you want to go back and check it. ✓ Beyond disappointedI used to use this app constantly, and loved it for being so simple to use, intuitive, and for the most part incredibly accurate. This is why I find it to be so upsetting that so many core features (despite what the copy and pasted dev reply would make you believe) are now locked behind a paywall. Sure, the MAIN use is still free, like routing a ride at that exact moment, but so many people rely on looking ahead to route future journeys for their peace of mind. Be it earlier in the day or late at night before the next day. Give us ads instead of a subscription base and then offer us a chance to remove them at least. Or try to add better, new features and lock those behind a paywall. But don’t take preexisting CORE features that many have relied on for years, and then lock those behind a paywall. ✓ I’ve loved and relied on this app for years butThe accuracy has started to come and go in the past year or maybe six months. I find myself rushing to catch a train pulling into the station in 2 min, only to arrive and find there’s no train for 8 min. And people are still standing on the platform, so the app was tracking a phantom train. This is even after multiple refreshes, and the app is showing me it’s tracking real time riders, so it’s apparently as accurate as can be. This happened a while ago, and it went on for long enough that I downloaded other apps to compensate when I couldn’t rely on this one. Then it stopped. And then started again, and then stopped. And I’m starting to have that issue again. So I don’t know what’s happening. But when that’s not happening, the app has the best layout and the most useful UI logic you could hope for in an app like this. I’ve tried every other one I could find and none are like this one. ✓ This app will strand you, unless you payThis app is only for the well off transit users. The most reliant users, the poor and homeless are at the mercy of a capricious AI that doles out stale and low efficacy rider information. It is much more than pinned routes. This leads to poor decisions from inappropriate and stale information presented by the app. Such as not showing relevant bus availability options at the stop the rider is at or making a transfer. Meaning the information that is shown is hard to assure as accurate and there’s not enough to make an informed decision. The charity options that Transit graciously provides is behind access barriers. Individuals living under severe financial constraints don’t have the means to satisfy or uncover the obfuscated charity. So Transit satisfies its needs by providing ill fitting rider information and showing the needed bus information just on the other side of a paywall. Probably expecting the poor to surrender what little money they have to a subscription. There is no transparency to alternatives, except call this avarice out in a review. ✓ If it ain't broke, don't fix it.I don't know what the reasoning was for this massive UI overall, but the app is practically useless in Toronto now. The arrival times are now wrong, it's not intuitive to determine which route is heading in which direction unless you're already intimately familiar with the route you're travelling on, and this new trip planner feature isnt worth using because any sane person is already using Google Maps. This was practically perfect before: you could see all the routes, the timing was accurate, and it was clear which buses/streetcars were headed in which direction. It was also amazing to use this while travelling out of town because I could figure out exactly where I was going with ease. ✓ Needs to better distinguish different servicesI just got on the bus the app told me would take me from Raglan to the Hamilton transport centre. But it it was not the number 23 but the number 23 school bus which doesn’t go to the transport centre. ✓ Used to be more accurate5/5/18 update: First, thanks to the developer for responding to my original review. I’m not sure what good screen shots would do, but here’s a specific example from last week Monday, morning: I got to the bus stop and checked your app for the arrival of the next bus. It said 19 minutes and that the last bus had gone through four minutes earlier. Instead if waiting such a long time, I opted to jump in a shared bike that happened to be parked nearby. No sooner than I’d pedaled all of a mile (about five minutes later) and, whoosh, the bus goes flying by. All of relevant buses appearing in the schedule were displaying with the GPS tracking indicator, but none of the times was accurate. ✓ Non existing busses late busses. Liar appHorrible. The VERY ONLY REASON I use this app is because it’s the most seemless one. I’ve received marks at my job for being late and trusting this app have missed other rides because of this app. If you want to get anything done this app works MAYBE 30% of the day the rest of the day it will literally say bus arriving. Then just skip the bus and go to the next bus which is 30 minutes away. It’s so bad it’s almost a scam. It’s almost as if this app wants you to have a messed up day. Came to write a bad review but see I already have one in the previous paragraph(good job past me) this app still remains trash. Gps is an outdated tech that any basic company should have figured out. Literally sitting down for a bus that goes from 23 minutes all the way to zero. Watch it traveling on the map. Then when it gets to zero minutes remaining the bus disappears, like magic. ✓ Slow to refresh on loadI keep falling for this - open the app, see that my preferred bus is 2-3 mins away, let an alternative bus pass by and then, hello!, preferred bus is now 6 mins away. And sometimes when a bus is early, the app hasn’t caught up yet. (Early buses are the worst kind. Unless you’re already on it, then they’re great. Which isn’t very charitable, I know.) ✓ Hate the upgradeThis WAS an amazing app, I have used it for the past 10 years, it’s essential to my life as I don’t have a car. I think it’s ridiculous that they are now making you get a membership. ✓ Lost, Confused & UpsetThis review is not about the ride or the bus driver. It is about the person who answered the phone for customer service. We are from out of state and decided to use public transportation rather than an Uber or Lift. We were trying to get to the airport and did not know how to go about getting tickets. He instructed us on where to get tickets but did not state we were getting them from a kiosk and not a human. His directions on where to catch the bus were not clear. The BIG kicker was HE TOLD US TO GET ON THE WRONG BUS!!! We ended up getting PUT OFF at the last stop for that route. The bus driver was confused as to why we were told we would be taken to the airport. We would have to wait 30 minutes until he would be back AND THEN dropped back off at the stop where we were picked up. At this point we were confused at why the direction we were given by THE person that we thought would have been THE BEST person we could have asked. The bus routes travel to predominantly rich neighbour hoods or at least those are the ones at the top. Too slow to loadThere is way too much going on in this app. I was using an app called Swiftly to get San Francisco BART times for my commute and the Transit app company must have bought them out because Swiftly no longer works and gives a link to this app. Okay, so I gave it a shot. Firstly, the app opens onto a map view with a bunch of bus/train and other transit stops dotted all over it and there’s no way to navigate to a particular station until the data loads. This is really frustrating for me because sometimes I like to check the train times when I’m already at the station in case the first train that comes is crowded, I can decide if it’s worth waiting for the next train or squeeze in with the crowd. The station I use is underground with poor reception and no GPS so I can’t actually use the app to quickly check train times because the map data has to load to be able to navigate in the app! I used Swiftly because I need an app to quickly look at train times for a particular station. This Transit app is bloated and slow and it was too difficult to set it up in a way that quickly gave me the information I wanted. I’m very sad that they bought out and took away a competing app that was better. I use EasyBART now and I pray these guys don’t buy them out next.Version: 5.2.4

✓ Normally it’s a decent app to use but it’s been very buggy latelyI use this app everyday to get to work, I tend to get on the first buses in the morning on a bus line that has terrible service in my area. So I consistently have the app on so I can make sure I’m not late and make the time to get to my bus stop on time or try to pull out my emergency Uber ride money if there’s a major delay. But lately the times has not been accurate usually the app has been two or three minutes off in the morning or more if I’m downtown because of all the drivers. I never have too much of a problem. But this week? I’ve basically been having to basically run like hell to make sure I’ve made it to my bus on time. Only to be there waiting out of breath and my bad ankle aching for a bus that’s not coming for another 10-20 minutes. It keeps occurring and it’s not my bus that’s the issue because I know many people at my job have been dealing with similar issues this past week. ✓ Widget issues. Please read.Update to my original review. If you have already updated to the new version of the transit app and suffer from the issues I mentioned below remove the modern widget from your screen, and reboot and the old widget should reappear. At least in my case it took a couple of reboots but once it reappeared it has stayed. Hopefully this will get resolved in the next version. My original review is below explaining the situation. As of version 5.9.0 they have taken away the classic widget that provided the nearby departures for your location without opening the app. The modern widget they replaced it with not only fails to provide this information but it is also set up with a color scheme that is not accessible for people with visual impairments as well as the elderly who may be dealing with contrast issues between colors. Why they believe that light green text on a medium green background is a good idea I do not know. Lastly for users of the voiceover screen reader the buttons inside of the widget for the most part are not labeled. If the issues I mentioned above affect you I strongly recommend not upgrading..Version: 5.9.0

When I check individual bus/train times to arrive, they mention the accurate times, but when I look up a direction using the same bus lines, the directions only give me options for minimum 30 minutes from the current time. ✓ Inaccurate Real-Time TrackingTransit cannot seem to perform the basic function of accurately tracking in real time the location of Golden Gate Transit buses and the expected arrival time of those buses at a particular stop. I waited at a scheduled stop from 2 minutes before until 10 minutes after the scheduled pickup time. During that whole time, the Transit app indicated that the bus was “0 mins” away. It did not show the bus’s location on the map. Then, the app suddenly changed to show that there would not be another bus arriving for 15 mins (which would be the next scheduled bus), indicating that I had missed the bus I was originally waiting on. Then, 5 minutes later, that bus arrived, 15 minutes late. The late arrival of the bus was frustrating but not the fault of the Transit app (that’s a GGT issue). My frustration with the Transit app is that it did not provide accurate information about the real-time location or ETA of the bus at the scheduled stop. I experience this problem with Transit on a regular basis. If the app cannot perform this basic task in a reliable manner, I have no use for it..Version: 5.14.9

✓ Apathy by 1000 cutsI used to like this app better, and still want to like it, but it’s slowly wearing me out. I know that it is a 3rd party app and is only reliant on the information it obtains from local transportation agencies, yet if that information isn’t reliable, then this app isn’t reliable. I’ve read some of their responses to other reviews and I think it’s a cop-out for them to just say “sorry, we’re a third party app.” I’m sure its frustrating to rely on unreliable information from agencies like the notoriously inept mta (which will say on the marquee that a train is coming in three minutes for over five minutes or longer), and I hope their sources of information get better. In the meantime, be aware that this app isn’t that reliable, especially with bus schedules. The times listed are frequently wrong, it will say buses are coming that never show up, and the most annoying to me is that they will show a bus icon “in real time” on the map, on its way to your stop, then suddenly, it will disappear. What happens to these phantom buses? I still leave super early to give myself time for bus and train delays because I know I can’t rely on any posted info. The dream, though, is still that, one day, one of these apps will be good enough that I can save myself some time while still making it to school and work on time.
