Robot Text killerLike all Apple apps the creators and Apple tell you it’s free then when you waste your time downloading this rubbish they say 7 days free then they charge you ridiculous monthly prices, this in it’s self is a scam a con and a waste of your time. Google play don’t make these scam charges what a joke the Apple App Store is. This app states it’s free then asks £22 a year I’d rather delete and block messages manually for free.Version: 1.7.0

Can’t remove app fullyI cancelled my subscription and deleted the app and all its data on my iPhone 12 and yet the functionality is still showing in my filters in the iPhone Messages app. So clearly it is not fully removed when deleted which is a red light!.Version: 1.2.0

OkayIt is was ok at first and I found it quite good but then it got confusing for me.After that I had then deleted it but when u went into messages all the words and changes such as the transaction, known and unknown caller was still there and still is.Version: 1.5.1

App only works for a few daysSeems to stop all spam text coming through (even in the Junk folder) based on blocking keywords like “trump” or “STOP=end” but a few days later I started receiving these texts in the Junk folder. If you’re advertising the ability block ALL spam based on inputted phone numbers and/or keywords, then this app should block ALL inputs. Be honest and advertise if the block feature only exists for a small window of time and that the spam texts will still appear in the Junk folder. Because I know if I go to the Junk folder to delete these texts, they will continue to be sent tenfold. I think it’s highway robbery that I have to pay to prevent my phone number from being bombarded constantly with these harassing texts; spam blocking should be enacted by the cell phone companies free of charge and the feature should be preventative and it should actually work!!!.Version: 2.0.1

Good prior to subscription now worthless24 Jun 2022 I cancelled my subscription back in December for all of the reasons indicated. So now I am in countdown mode until this years subscription expires. Fixes periodically get made; but, I still cannot update to newer versions without text words and phrases or sources being deleted all of the time and having to go through the app “retraining cycle”. As a result, text messages just start coming through each update until retrained. It’s just aggravating having to spend time doing this each update. With a few more weeks left, this app will expire and be removed with a replacement already in place that does the job much better now. It is a shame, because this use to be an app that I always recommended to family and friends. 06 Dec 2021 Prior to the subscription version of text killer it was working perfectly. When the new version came out and an annual subscription was paid for, my entire list of keywords was wiped out starting the nagging text message and filtering exercise all over again. The current version DOES NOT FILTER OUT messages that contain keywords like drop, lose, lbs, pounds, try, etc. that are common to nagging weight loss unsolicited text messages. Therefore, it is money down the drain. Yes, I have deleted and reinstalled…still does not filter out messages. Another good app bites the dust after subscription functionality is added. Waste of money!.Version: 1.5.1

Not working in iOS 15 at allI followed the guide and it neither blocked spam SMS (I.e. new voicemail from a weird url) or allowed me to actually report them.Version: 1.0.17

What is the subscription price?I’m giving 3 stars because I have not tried the app. I might be willing to try this app, if I knew what the ongoing subscription would cost me. However, I’m not willing to download and invest the time and energy to learn it when I have no idea of the price. You’re clear in the description that the free trial is 7 days and the subscription will be charged after that. Thank you for your transparency in that regard. I just wonder why you don’t specify the subscription price? If I feel it’s appropriate, I’d be excited to try your product and hopeful that it would meet my needs. Instead, I’m wary and reluctant. I just don’t want to get invested, only to walk away due to pricing..Version: 1.7.7

App not working after upgrade, and no support 👎 (Updated)UPDATE 2: After finally getting the app to work on my new iPhone 15 Pro Max running the latest iOS (see update 1 below), I am now having issues with texts still coming through that contain keywords that I have set to be blocked. Not sure how to resolve. UPDATE 1: Originally 1-star review with the following: No longer working after phone upgrade to iPhone 15 Pro Max. I was previously running an iPhone 13 Pro Max and the app working great. Now, when I open the app and go through setup, I get the message that says “Hmm, Somethings went wrong.” The app will also not let me add any more keywords to the block list. I have Textkiller enabled in my settings for the messages and the phone app. I am running an iPhone 15 Pro Max with the latest iOS. I have contacted support through email and have not gotten no response. Also tried chatting with support (which is nothing but the typical AI bot because I guess real people don’t want to work now), and the bot told me they couldn’t generate a support ticket for me. So now it looks like I’m dead in the water with this app. **UPDATE: App magically started working again within minutes after leaving 1-star review. I didn’t change anything and it was previously not working for like 2 days. Could be coincidence, but wanted to update the rating because the app actually does do great when working. This was the first time I had any issues with it..Version: 2.0.1

Block/allow listPrevious versions let you view and edit custom keywords and numbers for blocking/allowing texts. Now you can only add them and you cannot view them. Did it actually keep my previous settings? No idea, can’t check. Does block/allow feature currently work? No idea, can’t see the settings to confirm. Update: still doesn’t work on iPad, but I suspect that it doesn’t work at all on iPad. There’s no option to use Textkiller as the SMS spam filter. Meanwhile, the block list is now editable on iPhone, but it doesn’t always filter out SMS spam that matches those keywords. I added “UPS” and “USPS” as block keywords, but I still get iMessage spam about “packages being held at the warehouse” from email addresses that are obviously not UPS or USPS..Version: 2.0.1

Tried it for a few weeks, nothing happenedFollowed all the instructions, added a bunch of keywords and never replied to any spam but the spammers are just too smart for this app. Additionally there’s no easy way to mark a bunch of messages as spam or train the software using your messages. Feels like the developers hands are tied and the spammers are too good at this….Version: 1.0.19

Not for iPhone 5s.On install it wants to verify your phone number. Not particularly keen here, but I can’t anyway. The keyboard does not hide and so cannot [Enter] the number. Not keen on verifying by Google either. So deleted..Version: 1.0.11

Worked Until It Didn'tI was very happy with TextKiller but recently have been receiving a large number of unwanted texts. I am paying an annual fee and expect great service for the year..Version: 1.6.1

Deleting appHow do I delete app as it won’t let me.Version: 1.4.0

Nope!Installed it then found out it’s useless unless you pay a ridiculous amount now can’t fully remove it from my phone..Version: 1.0.19

Stops spam, but spam’s verification codes? So far the app seems like it is blocking spam texts but there’s no way for me to actually figure out if it is without upgrading to premium. On the other hand, I have been getting an excessive number of verification codes being texted to me from the app, but I have requested none of them and I’ve got a bunch of them. And on a phone that I haven’t touched in two days. So yeah, if this stops, I will correct and right higher, but until the app stops spamming me with verification codes, it’s gonna stick at a two star..Version: 2.0.1

Not sure if this can be trustedOnly one review and 21 ratings and you need to give the app access to the text off your messages How do I know this isn’t produced by the same lowlifes that are sending phishing messages? We need Google or Apple or someone we can trust to produce an app that filters spam messages..Version: 1.0.12

Uninstalled due to security concernsI don't want to share text messages containing sensitive information like bank security codes with the developer. I'll filter text messages myself because it's safer..Version: 2.0.0

Custom filters and folders/views?With iOS 14, I thought an app like this would have very limited use. However, I do like the way it sorts items into folders/views (such as Transactions and Promotions). It would be great if there was some transparency as to how this is actually accomplished. Even better would be if we could create our own filter->folder rule! The biggest one for me is all the 2FA texts that come in all day; iOS blocking throws them to the junk folder; if we could filter these into a 2FA Codes folder, that would be incredibly useful, and give this app an extra tool I would pay for (but please just a one time fee!)..Version: 1.0

Does not actually blocked text messages just puts them in a separate folderSo far this is not “blocked” anything that I have put in a keyword for such as Dr. OZ or CBD (I get multiple text messages weekly which have those keywords in them, they are spam and phishing text.) This app just created another folder called junk and puts them in there…. with the iPhone you have the ability to separate out known from unknown callers putting unknown callers in a folder called “unknown” which I was doing. So this is the same thing only made a different folder called junkAnd cost $30 a year to do that. Doesn’t block them. Update, The developer did respond to me to say that Apple will not allow them to block the offending text messages it only allows them to put it into a junk folder so it’s really not a problem they can overcome. But like I said IIn the original review can do the same using apples “filter unknown senders setting”..Version: 1.0.19

Not very effective against spam texts from email addresses3 spam texts from email addresses were not filtered today.Version: 1.0.4

Not smart enoughFiltered out a very important sms appointment from a service provider.Version: 1.0.17

Great app, but mis-filters contacts as junkGreat app that does indeed filter out most spam. Unfortunately it’s also marking some texts from my contact list as junk, so I’ve suffered some problems missing important texts. That’s a pity, because it really does eliminate the spam!.Version: 1.4.0

So close but so farI really want to like this app. It is desperately needed and I think it does a decent job… When it works. Of course, due to number-spoofing, blocking numbers is useless unless there’s a certain number spamming you, but I really like the keyword block list idea. It seems to do a good job of stopping spam text messages, but it has some kind of terrible bug, so that it usually doesn’t function properly. Most of the time when I log in, my keyword block list is blank. And the words that I put there before are no longer being blocked. Sometimes I log in and the list is back and those texts are properly sent to the Junk folder. I can’t figure out if there’s something that causes it to start working and stop working. I have verified that it is set up correctly in iOS Settings. I have already emailed Support with no response. I will try to update the review if this issue gets fixed..Version: 1.6.1

Not working properlyI opened my messages to find it did not filter one such scam text about a delivery. It was working yesterday but today it failed to put it into my junk folder..Version: 1.0.19

Cannot RegisterCannot Register, waste my data to download..Version: 1.0.19

Just ok, could be betterIt’s an alright app, perhaps I expected more when I purchased. It would be a lot better if IOS systems didn’t receive notifications from unknown senders. I still receive numerous notifications from spam texts, perhaps iOS or TextKiller could simply “silence” any and all texts from unknown or suspicious numbers. Reporting spam/junk/unknown texts is more time consuming and a hassle than expected. One would assume a simple swipe left/right or press/hold application would allow the user to block and report number with simple category options such as, “Scam, Fraud, etc..”. However, TextKiller provides 20+ category options that are similar; leasing the user to hastily pick any category option that may or may not be similar or correct..Version: 1.0.17

Not happyPurchased this to stop spam garbage It’s not doing it No point it I gotta report the number There’s thousands of numbers 😡😡😡 Margjody.Version: 1.1.0

Free version does nothingOnly works as a spam blocker if you upgrade to the premium. Free version does nothing. Will be deleting this app and continue looking for a decent text blocker..Version: 2.0.1

MehHuge issue with group texts with 20+ numbers and emails. Put every number and address with as many keywords as possible and texts still getting thru. Additionally, the “killed” texts still show up in a junk folder with an alert and I’m alerted on my other devices as well. So basically it just puts everything in a folder that now you have go in and individually delete. Not sure how this saves me any time or aggravation. I hoped this was truly a text “killer” meaning it would automatically block and delete messages from numbers or with keywords I plugged in, but it basically just sends them all to a folder that I now have to clean out. I’ll give it month to see if it helps with stopping these annoying texts, but so far, not worth it. It’s an organizational tool and not a text “killer” as advertised..Version: 1.0.19

Started out OKWhen I first downloaded it worked well. Now getting bombarded by spam messages..Version: 1.7.0

Completely hopeless setupI could not recommend this less. The setup never worked- would not let me verify via phone, sent me through loops with google id, text on screen overlaps buttons making one unreadable and the other unusable.Version: 1.0.17

Works on phone after a few days, does not stop push notifications on Apple WatchI originally had an issue where messages would be filtered into text killers junk section but would still produce pop up notifications and banners on the phone. After a few days, it seems messages are getting filtered into junk properly. However, the app does nothing to stop those same junk messages from generating a push notification on my watch while I have it on. So while wearing my watch I still get push notifications for sms spam messages even though they are filtered correctly on the phone. This is still pretty annoying but I can just ignore the push notification on the watch and it will go away. This is better than having to delete individual spam messages or getting push notifications on the phone directly..Version: 1.0.13

Paid membership still getting spam messagesEven though I am a full paid member spam messages keep coming 🤔.Version: 1.0.19

Doesn’t workDoesn’t work.Version: 1.0.12

Still getting spam messages every day?Thought this one would work.Version: 1.0.17

Cancel right away pleaseI have only had this app for a couple of days and something’s very wrong because I’ve suddenly gotten scam text after scam text. Unbelievable. Update: someone contacted me and wanted screenshots of the scam texts. I wasn’t sure how to do that so copied one and added the phone # and returned the email. I had already deleted others that day. I have to say it’s been a complete nightmare since I added this app. for such a short time. I have 8 right now. I block them and get the same ones the next day on a different phone number. I was going to screenshot them to send but oddly that email disappeared. I certainly didn’t delete it. It’s nowhere. Not inbox, scam, trash, sent, all mail, etc. It’s just vanished. How does that happen? I want this fixed. Something about this app has obviously attracted these scam texts and I want it fixed. I had to add this stupid app again to write this. Now. I want it canceled ASAP CANCEL APP NOW.Version: 1.0.19

Fix itDoesn’t work.Version: 1.2.1

Couldn’t verify my numberTried several times to use my mobile number to set up verification but failed so I gave up and deleted the app.Version: 1.0.12

Spam appAfter using this app, my number appears as “suggested spam number “ when people calling me.Version: 1.0.13

Doesn’t do what I need it to doWhen I try enter a number in to block, it doesn’t work. What’s the point? I want to block people from being able to text me and I can’t do that with this app!!! Useless!!!!!.Version: 2.0.0

Is not blocking anything at allNot really,it doesn’t work.Version: 1.7.7

Crashes When Manually Reporting SpamI have textkiller setup on the app and all that, but when I get a spam message, i'll open it to tap on the report link for textkiller to select "spam" and put in any comments before hitting "Done" to report it. The problem is that as soon as I tap on the section to say whether it is or is not spam, the screen closes out and I'm back at the text message. This happens 100% of the time and it has always been this way for me. I have T-Mobile and even tried turning off their spam protection, thinking maybe there was a conflict, but that's not the case. I have an iphone 13 pro and my ios is up to date. what gives?.Version: 1.7.5

BrutalI can’t launch and when I try to block manually it doesn’t block. Basically the app isn’t doing anything. What a waste of money..Version: 2.0.1

Doesn’t workWanted an app to block texts from a sender’s name, not a number. The option is there and I entered the name correctly, received 2 texts from both blocked senders the next day.Version: 1.7.7

More trouble than it’s worthJust deleted this - with no easy ability to teach it which texts you want I found it was just more trouble than it’s worth. If as a result of using it you have to search for texts you missed I’d rather have full access to them..Version: 1.3.0

App will not setup properlyMy paid subscription of Text Killer suddenly stopped working. I’ve tried to contact their customer service via bot, but when I type in my issue, it won’t allow me to send. And when you click on “Contact us”, it sends me to a blank website. Maybe this actual text killer is a scam itself?? The send button doesn’t even work. I launched the app, it says “Hmm something went wrong and to please try turning on text blocker again to make sure everything is working”. I’ve followed the steps many times. Had even restarted my phone, but it still won’t setup properly and I keep getting that same error message. I have a paid subscription and I don’t know how long I’ve been paying for their service and this had stopped working. Customer service is difficult to reach..Version: 2.0.1

How is your personal information protected?I decided not to use the app after getting the “are you sure?” type of message from Apple when choosing the app to filter texts in my settings because the message said “the developer of the app will receive your messages from unknown numbers. This may include sensitive information like bank verification numbers.” Which is something I didn’t think of before—when verifying any account by phone number, they send you a text from an unknown number. That text would be easily accessible to the app, wouldn’t it? Although this app seems useful, it also seems dangerous to give someone else access to all your texts from unknown numbers. The only way I’d use this app is if I had a strong guarantee of how my information would be protected by the app and not stolen..Version: 1.0.14
