COVID Alert NJ for Negative User Reviews

The app doesn’t workThe app doesn’t move forward your data screen. The error pops up not just on my phone but my family phone as well. Need to fix the app..Version: 1.0.0

Battery drainThis app used 56% of my battery in the background and I haven’t left the house. Would love to to use this app can’t take the battery drain..Version: 1.0.0

Doesn’t workKeep getting error “sorry the didn’t work properly error 1002, please try again” over and over. 🤦‍♂️.Version: 1.0.0

3% holdingOdd that after a month it constantly says 3% have mild symptoms. You’d think it will go up or down with so many people using app. Not sure how valid this is..Version: 1.0.1

Useful but severely reduces battery lifeGlad to see a tool out there that helps track cases, but this thing eats battery life. On average, this app uses 30% of my battery a day. Had to disable for the time being.Version: 1.0.0

Nice, but big flaw (for now)It’s a useful app, and it works fine on my other devices, BUT I can’t even download it on my iPhone 6 because it says I need to update to iOS 13, but the thing is, iOS 12.5 introduces exposure notifications, and I really wanted to use this app..Version: 1.0.1

No details provided on close contact alertThe app alerted me to a close contact but did not provide any information on the time or duration of the contact. This makes it very difficult to assess the risk properly. This is not a technical limitation - for example, look up the similar Nevada app in the App Store. The screenshots show a close contact alert with a date, time, and duration. NJ can do much better..Version: 1.1.1

Keep getting error messageTried downloading with wi-fi and without, just won’t load at all. Tried several times. IPhone 7.Version: 1.0.1

Graphics and summary need major improvementThe app generally seems like it would be helpful BUT there are problems with the data summary and the charts. The data lists cases per county and percentage of NJ cases in each county. This doesn’t reflect the fact that, while Hudson, Bergen, etc. counties have the largest percentage of cases, they also have the largest population. The report should show severity by listing per capita cases. Then there is the graphics. The minor annoyance is that the date scales for cases and deaths are different. Why? This bothered me for months. However it is now a relatively small annoyance. Recently, the data for the number of deaths per day got corrupted, shooting up from hundreds per day to 40,000 in one day. WHAT? And worse, it shows -40,000 deaths the next day. I guess most of those 40,000 who died on one day got resurrected the next..Version: 1.0.1

Oct 2 review(hope I can update when it actually works)Super excited to be a concerned citizen and participate, tell the app I’m older than 18, get to the next screen and click to move to the next step: ERROR: 1002. As a control I also downloaded the NY covid alert app and it works with no errors. Tried deleting and reinstalling, deleting the NY alert app and trying to reinstall the NJ app; same error no matter what I try..Version: 1.0.0

Cannot complete setup!!!I’ve been trying to install for the last 2 days, but consistently receive a “error 1002” message when trying to advance past the Data Usage page (first step after selecting Getting Started)! Not sure where to turn to for help..Version: 1.0.0

Diarrhea is much better than this app.Crashes- also don’t have WiFi on and it still failed. Wouldn’t recommend..Version: 1.0.0

Doesn’t work on iPhone 7Gives an error and would not let to continue with initial setup of the app on iPhone 7. Should have tested this app more before releasing it to public..Version: 1.0.0

GarbageThis app is complete garbage. The day after I received the last update, a notification appeared that states I came in contact with someone who was infected. Although, I know for a fact I never left the house that day. And I live alone. I was forced to quarantine for no reason, and lose pay for 7 days. Thanks for nothing..Version: 1.1.1

A week?I got an alert of exposure a week after the alleged exposure. What good is that? It told me the day but nothing more. On that day, I was in another state and outside most of the day. It would be helpful to narrow it down. If I were outside, I would think the exposure risk was far lower. Honestly, how useless is this information?.Version: 1.1.4

Unreliable Data the State of NJ ProvidesRecently this app has become very inconsistent with reporting data, such as today May 28, 2022 the app indicates there are a total of “zero” cumulative cases since the pandemic started..Version: 1.1.4

Not able to use appJust downloaded app. Get error 1002 when you click continue after the data usage screen. Can’t get any farther in app..Version: 1.0.0

App is trashIt never let me even get started with the app ive tried reinstalling and uninstalling multiple times and it still hasn’t worked idk what this problem is but fix it.Version: 1.1.4

App has been frozen for a weekI cannot do anything with it, since it has been frozen for a week..Version: 1.1.4

Covid alert is uselessWhen receiving an alert that my “phone” was in the vicinity of another “phone” where the owner has tested positive, no other details are given. When was the contact? Where was the contact? How long did it last? All of this is needed to make a proper self- assessment of my own risk. If I walked past someone at the grocery store who later tested positive, I’m not quarantining for 14 days. This app just feeds into panic and unnecessary worry. I agree that contact tracing is needed, but it has to be based on scientific rationale..Version: 1.0.1

Fix your notificationsI was exposed in March, but I never received a push notification and had to randomly find the exposure in the app. The notification might have come through during a Do-Not-Disturb period. If so, it should have continued to notify me instead of being buried in the notifications. m.Version: 1.1.4

Incorrect alertI got a close contact alert today saying I was exposed yesterday…. I never even left my house yesterday! What are you guys even tracking??.Version: 1.1.4

Battery eaterOvernight my battery drops drastically (iPhone 12) and battery usage shows only COVID exposure running. Can’t keep this app if it does that. Not sure of the benefit if not everyone is using anyway..Version: 1.0.1

Limited FunctionalityUnable to report positive home rapid self test result in the app..Version: 1.1.4

Faulty NotificationSitting at home alone, private residence, for about 2 1/2 hrs and the notification alert comes through. Who would I have been near within 6 ft for 15 minutes when I’ve been sitting here alone? Not helpful at all.Version: 1.1.2

Not up to dateThis is pretty much useless unless a large amount of the population actually use the app. Total number of cases (in my county) hasn't budged in months. I'm that time period I personally know several people who got covid so I know statistics aren't being updated. These 2 things pretty much render the app useless..Version: 1.1.4

Very LacklusterNot sure why the high rating. Seems to be a useless app. Submit your symptom on a daily basis the let the app work. No useful interface and not very helpful..Version: 1.0.1

Under 18 limitation is idioticNot being allowed for those residents under 18 is absolutely asinine. This is why we are in the mess we are in. Too much “in-the-box”thinking and slow movement. This app should have been launched in April and required by state law. Let’s get on with it..Version: 1.0.0

Exposure Alert can’t work if county health departments don’t have the info to provideSadly the app has been available for over a month and there are less than 330k downloads. To make matter worse, the exposure alert feature is a complete waste. I tested positive this week (test Monday, results from lab Wednesday morning, finally contacted by Ocean County Health Department Thursday afternoon). When I asked the OCHD person that called about the tracking number to enter into the app she had no idea what I was talking about yet claims to have been doing Ocean County contact tracing since March. She said she’d make a call and get back to me. I thought that may have meant same day, but it’s now Friday and no call back. I wanted this app to work . I’ve had it installed since early October when there were less than 100k users, but in a state with 9 million people to have less than 330K download it and for county health departments to have no clue (or the information to provide) a month after release, this is not going to help reduce the number of cases in the state..Version: 1.0.1

Good initial effort, but no city community or town level infoI thought this app would tell me who around has COVID and what places in town or stores to avoid. I suspect most danger zones are local nursing homes but I’ve no way to know if a grocery store or school us contaminated. Also the survey form doesn’t work in Safari. Says Safari isn’t supported..Version: 1.0.1

Easy to use but need preemptive alertsThe real help would be knowing where not to go. Right now I believe it only sends alert after the fact..Version: 1.0.0
