✓ Incredible functionality and map layers, new Zoom Earth app is great.I have been using Zoom Earth for years before it became an app. I love the functionality and different map layers that both the website and app provide. I use Zoom Earth all the time for looking at both live and HD satellite views, along with wildfires and precipitation. I was so excited to see that they created an app for Zoom Earth, and I immediately downloaded it. It is just like the website, except you don’t have to use a web browser. 5 stars out of 5, I would highly recommend Zoom Earth to weather nerds like me..Version: 1.0.3

✓ Excellent weather app with many superb features(Dear readers: After proofreading this review it occurred to me that it sounded overly positive and, therefore, such is the world we live in now, may sound fake. I can assure you that it sounds positive because I really really like this app, and I would have given a full 5 stars if not for one negative which, to me, and maybe only to me, is a biggie. All is explained below. ) I found this app by accident and downloaded it just to see what it was like. I was SO PLEASANTLY surprised at how good this app is. It allows me to select all the various weather measurements I could want, and it does a superb job of displaying them in a graphical interface which I find easily to understand. What I have found the best aspect is the ability to select a date and time, up to 48hrs ago I think, and to then play an animation run-through of those measurements, in your selected area, showing how the weather changed over the selected time period. It even shows you a moving shadow across the screen that represents the sunrise or sunset occurring. Overall Zoom Earth has been extremely well designed, and developed. It appears to me that the time and resources that were been applied to the app’s design, getting the features and aspects of the weather just right, and the subsequent design and development of the user experience aspects, specifically the graphics, has resulted in the best weather app I have seen. I have been using Rain Alarm for a good few years now but this surpasses it. Way way surpasses it. The only thing that I can’t do with Zoom Earth is to have specific places, across the planet, that can be switched to, or, as far as I have found out so far, the ability to configure app generated alerts when certain conditions occur. This isn’t criticism at all, but for now I will need to run Zoom Earth and Rain Alarm in parallel so I continue to get my alerts per location. The rest of Zoom Earth more than makes up for that though. Perhaps it’s something for the future? And what is more, the Zoom Earth is FREE, with zero In-App Purchases. Which leads me on to…….. The negative? I am not a fan of ads in my favourite apps. I am now using Zoom Earth at least a dozen times a day. The south of the U.K. is being hit by a succession of severe storms at the moment, and I (normally) play golf at least 3 times a week, so an accurate weather forecast is vital for that. With this in mind, I would very much like an option to remove all ads from my app and wouldn’t mind paying a nominal and appropriate fee to do so. I noted that it was first on the App Store just 4 months ago, so I should imagine that Neave Interactive (the developer) may, over time, add some premium features that can be unlocked also. Whether or not that does happen I would definitely support an ad removal option sooner rather than later..Version: 1.2

On the west coast there is about a 20-30 minute delay when tracking weather events. This is fine for replaying general weather patterns, but the delay is too long for tracking immediate threats—other, less graphically intense programs do a better job with “live” weather events..Version: 1.2
