FT Edit by the Financial Times for Positive User Reviews

Great news appNot overwhelming like other news apps.Version: 1.0.8

A practical and digestible way to get your morning’s newsWith usual newspaper apps there is so much choice I usually find myself scrolling through the articles, getting a surface-level idea of the news. With this app the choice is limited and the 8 daily stories are always varied, in depth and essential reading. Enlightened and informed, thank you..Version: 1.0.3

Simplicity is its strengthReally enjoying these eight, often very different but always enlightening, articles each day. The lack of comments section, ratings and other unnecessary clutter means the features stay the focus, as they should..Version: 1.0.31

Limited, but a good-value FT tasterThe choice of articles is a bit random and inevitably hit and miss. But I quite like the element of chance, and the unexpected. There are plenty of other news sites I can curate for myself..Version: 1.0.17

Good selection of articlesI have been reading Financial Times since 2009 mostly for insights and views. I may be biased. However, this format is perfect for someone who rarely reads news cover to cover. So far, I have enjoyed all the picks. Good mix of politics, economics and Science. This is not meant to replace the news but it is more like curated weekly magazine. Loving this format so far and the price is so reasonable..Version: 1.0.10

Excellent InitiativeA really good selection of articles reflecting the FT’s outstanding journalism, at a reasonable price for those of us who do not need the whole newspaper..Version: 1.0.34

Loving this!Great idea and it’s infinitely more affordable for most of us than the typical FT sub price. Some feedback… There needs to be a way for me to select topics and then you can populate my feed with the must-read content from that topic. That would be of real value. The feed needs to be scrollable vertically. Having the comments section in the app would also make it “stickier”. I like reading something and then seeing what other people think about it..Version: 1.0.2

Great, affordable alternative to a full FT subscriptionIf you are willing to wait (the articles often appear here several days after they were on the main site/paper, though those are never time-sensitive ones) then you end up getting most of the best (analysis, deep-divey, investigative or just fun) stuff that’s on the main FT page at a fraction of the cost of a regular subscription (which is insanely expensive). Bizarrely, I find the limited selection and the read-it-today-or-it’s-gone aspect of it positive too. Forces you to have a healthier media diet — a few good pieces a day rather than endless media grazing — even if I do end up occasionally begging a friend with a full subscription for the odd gift link for something that never appears on FT Edit..Version: 1.0.36

A very great selection of articles.FT edit has achieved what few others have tried but failed: it made me like to read the news. The finite and high relative quality of the articles compared to its sister app has left me much more satisfied getting through my news supplement of the day. And I might add that it isn’t so much as news but analysis and deep form content, which is a very great value considering the monthly price for the app..Version: 1.0.34

An innovative appIt’s somewhat reminiscent of The Economist’s Espresso app, but with the USP of full length articles (I.e. greater depth) and without an overall briefing article. The Saturday edition, which includes several FT podcasts, is a particular favourite of mine. A great app with excellent potential. I hope this experiment continues!.Version: 1.0.23

An Excellent Tool & ResourceThe perfect compliment to the wonderful FT coverage!.Version: 1.0.34

Gift subscriptionNo way of gifting to a friend, share my appreciation of the most nutritious of small bites..Version: 1.0.22

Good value for money, but could be betterFor the money you pay, it offers a great value proposition. That said, there are ways to make it better by providing more clarity and predictability in the choice of articles. I'd prefer to know that one of the articles is, say, the most read for the week or the one with the most comments, or a rule like that - something to anchor expectations..Version: 1.0.19

Excellent productThoughtful, interesting articles every weekday in a finishable format. I absolutely love the FT’s lifestyle and long form journalism so this is perfect for me. And time every weekend to catch up on what you’ve missed. I absolutely love this product. Wish there was a way to add favourites and see comments too..Version: 1.0.8

Audio optionEnjoying the FT edit but would love it more if it had an audio option so can listen whilst on the move! Also option to select stories/topics and save them on the app would be useful.Version: 1.0.23

Superb Curation, Elevating JournalismThe app, iPhone only, focuses attention on a set of stories curated by the FT each day. The weekend wrap includes podcasts, the best stories of the week and the weekend top story. As others have noted this app could be greatly improved if you provided curation options. 1. default curation the best eclectic story mix as you have now. 2. allow topics to be selected and populate stories based on those topics. 3. give access to the same headlines as the daily paper, limit the selection to 8 items a day. The last option would be an amazing addition and would make the £4.99 fee to access the app per month a great deal..Version: 1.0.9

All the value, no noiseA focused set of articles means anything silly or trending toward click bait (less of an FT problem than other media) is non exist.Version: 1.0.34

Perfect for meI love this app, it gives me exactly what I wanted. I find myself a little busy to read every single article everyday. I want to be able to stay in touch with what’s going on and in a couple of dedicated minutes. It doesn’t replace my news intake, I like to read the economist over the weekend, and other magazines when I have the chance but it does give me a good insight of current events. Great app, works well, I like the articles, gets the job done!!!.Version: 1.0.21

Bite sized articles of a delicious paperTitle.Version: 1.0.23

Great app to read thoughtful articlesThis app is great to read wide range of contents. It’a from Financial Times but actually a lot of politics and lifestyle topics. I really enjoy reading articles on this app..Version: 1.0.31

GoodGood but please adapt app so we can read the articles in landscape on an iPhone (I use the 11).Version: 1.0.17

A Good Start but …..This has the potential to be an excellent app, but there are several issues. Firstly why no iPad version?. This would be ideal for the iPad format. Secondly why does the FT get to choose the articles? There are usually one or two that interest me but the others don’t. But the app gives me no idea of what else is on the FT and which I might be tempted to subscribe to. Why doesn’t the app show the full range of the FT articles and let the user choose no more than 8? That way users may well be tempted to choose to subscribe to the full digital subscription. Keep going, developers, there’s hope ahead! Update: Been reading it for a few weeks now and I’m a bit bemused by the eccentric choice of articles. Today’s included a “Lunch with Jarvis Cocker” which appeared in the print version last Saturday - four days ago. Who is choosing these articles? I’ve not seen one by Gideon Rachman yet. As I’ve said already, let us choose the articles up to a maximum of 8 then the app would be really good..Version: 1.0.9
