Tera Pro for Negative User Reviews

Has some nice features, but it’s buggy and unwieldy…This thing has a lot of nice features, not least the large number of modulations, and it’s arp and sequencer… also it’s internal recorder is welcome too, but it isn’t that easy to use or understand… Also, it isn’t clear how to get things going… rather sad, cos having two layers of three Oscs is very nice, and there is a fair amount of choices you have, too… just not too clear how to use some things…. I dunno… it needs improving, a lot….Version: 1.4.3

No Panic Button!Tera Pro appears to be a work in-progress, as a number of the presets jump/crash into a blast of noise which is hard to stop. It would be VERY NICE if a PANIC button of some sort could be placed PROMINENTLY to quickly get back to an init state and kill the runaway.… but alas, no such button is available anywhere. The app is capable of some fairly amazing sounds, but still has a few kinks to work out. I would gladly trade the color background feature for a Panic button…😶.Version: 1.9.8

No way to reset MIDI Learn controlsTera Pro stores the MIDI Learn settings you make with your current MIDI controller and never gives you a way to clear them. Wherever they’re stored, you can’t find them on account that this app installs to a hidden file structure on your iPad. Because of this, the app does not appear in the Apple Files app, nor does it appear in the iPad’s Settings where all your other apps are listed in alphabetical order. You can do a Search on Tera Pro in the Settings and it finds nothing. Why hide the app, guys? To the guy with the Key Hold issue. Assign it to an on/off style button on your MIDI controller and set it with TP’s MIDI learn. You’ll always have it. If you ever switch to another MIDI controller, just uninstall TP to clear the old MIDI controller setting, re-install TP, and lastly, use MIDI Learn one time in TP to assign Key Hold to a button on your new MIDI controller. It’s a solution. A ridiculous one, at that, but it’s a solution. I see a hardware synth in my future. I’m getting very tired of software synth glitches. TP is not the only one, for sure. Some are resource hogs, some have bugs, some have design flaws, etc. But all these software issues waste a lot of time. How much is your time worth? Time is all we have; you can’t get it back or buy more..Version: 2.1.0

Tera ProThought it’d be much better. Very crashy, no sound on a lot of patches, buggy. Expected more….Version: 1.7.0

IssuesRight away, I had issues with adjusting parameters, they randomly worked. Sometimes not at all. Also, I’m unable to change the sample rate. Aside from these minor glitches. I’m just getting started. I hope to revisit this review with a positive update..Version: 1.0.0

Having Some IssuesWhen running the iPad on battery power there seems to be a rapid drain on the battery when using Tera Pro in AUM. I put Tera Pro into an AUM session and things worked fine. When I opened the session next day there was no sound from Tera Pro and nothing would bring it back. Otherwise it’s a great sounding synth with loads of great features. Good job for the first release..Version: 1.0.0

I don’t understand the locked layersAfter reading good reviews I bought this. It really can make some amazing sounds. I don’t understand why you have an interface where I can only edit one of the two layers at a time. It’s frustrating. Let us edit everything..Version: 1.8.0

Wave moduleI purchased the wave module upgrade from the App Store. I restored the purchase in the main app, but is not available for use. It also asked me to purchase the update in app next to the check mark. Please fix. Thanks.Version: 1.5.1

Crashes running iOS 12.2 on iPad ProIssues: 1. Was trying the raindropz patch.....opened LFO 1 panel..try to change a setting...crashes every time 2. Sometimes there is no sound until you toggle between patches, then you get proper sound 3. Love the sounds and possibilities, but these problems need to be fixed please..Version: 1.0.4

Needs workAfter using and loving Teraverse, I was looking forward to this synth, but it’s just not ready. Currently running the latest ios version on an ipad pro and almost half the patches just blast white noise, make no noise, or make clicking sounds. The patches also dont have the same depth as with Teraverse. Going to get a refund and will repurchase in the future after some updates are made noting the preset fixes. Looking forward to what this can be..Version: 1.3.0

Buyer’s remorseAs many raving compliments as this synth app received in audiob.us, I was left very disappointed. First of all, though, I don’t deny that it sounds good (thought I have lots of synth apps that also sound as good). And the editing layout is interesting. But some basic things willingly be sending this app to my “good but unused” folder. The most basic is the keyboard. I cannot play a keyboard where all the keys are black (in spite of the presence of the thing strip to distinguish those that are normally black on a piano keyboard). I could not find any way to choose a normal black and white keyboard. I also found the amount of resources it used made it unusable in my live performance AUM environment. That’s a dealbreaker for me. So while the price paid won’t impoverish me, it’s going to be just an app I regret buying..Version: 1.6.0

RingZ Module out of tuneI bought this synth purely for the RingZ module, and found that all of the patches in the module are out of tune. The sounds are great, but I can’t use them for anything without a huge amount of work..Version: 2.1.0

Could be greatCould be great. I’ve waited a while before purchasing so that bugs can be ironed out etc but after purchasing all iaps (even that isn’t that easy as they don’t work unless you also restore after purchase) I’m finding the app crashes an awful lot, complete quit. M1 pro on the latest iOS. Also a few times I’ve had UI glitches, can’t open a wavetable osc wider etc, one instance of one wavetable osc opening and showing all options but the other one not oPening etc. Here’s another, running arp with Brainz in AUM, keeps losing sync and skipping. I’m sure these will get ironed out as the other Virsyn apps are solid but so far it’s £30 odd quid for a crash app. So 3 stars for now and will revise when improves. I’ve got the old Tera and the new added features are welcome and Virsyn stuff always sounds great but random app deaths are not good, can’t even reproduce it as it’s different every time. Edit. Sync seems fixed in latest bug release. Found another bug though. If wavetable oscs are being used, randomise stops working fully and only randomises the wavetables. And here’s another, just hit random, now osc2 says it’s a sin wave but itS opened out to the right with a custom wave in it. I had it as a custom wave before. So which is it? Sine or custom? makes absolutely no sense. And another..oh come on! Filter is routed to output. 4 channel mixer routed to filter. Wavetable 1 and 2 only routed to mixer and yet osc1 and 2 are present, not routed to anything and yet osc 2 signal is present at the output..Version: 1.7.6

Still crashing! It still crashes! We are now on iOS 16 so fixing iOS 12 and 13 ain’t gonna fix it! Useless!!!.Version: 1.7.1

Good! But...We still need a quick-access key-hold button. Burying it in a menu hidden in the Common module makes it pretty much non-existent in any active playing mode. I am a big fan of the original Tera. Tera Pro is even better in many respects but it has additional versatility and functionality that make it a little more cumbersome to use. Sound quality is great and it is very flexible I have only one serious gripe. The "keyhold" feature (acts like a sustain pedal on a switch) is buried in a menu. This makes it almost useless. Look at ANY synthesizer -hardware or software- and you will find the "hold" button is immediately accessible. Please move the key hold feature to the main screen. It is an important live-performace feature. Why anyone would bury that in the settings menu remains a mystery. Very awkward. For my purposes (live performance) this reduces Tera Pro to only 3 stars, mostly becasue it is just such a dumb mistake and it really does make it harder to use what should be a mindlessly simple but important feature. Fortunately this SHOULD be a very easy fix for the developer..Version: 2.1.0
