✓ Makes your iPad feel like a video editing machine. (Read if frustrated with not all pages)I’m not gonna lie there are some very specific workspaces this app can fit. If you have an iPad that slows down with normal tasks like checking the web I definitely would not recommend this app for you. I have and iPad Pro with a Magic Keyboard and that is the only way this app works for me. However if you have something like that you feel would work I would recommend this. Now I will talk about an issue that I had but I resolved through a creative method, you do need some sort of keyboard you can connect to your iPad. I came from DaVinci Resolve for my Mac and was soon frustrated by the lack of pages, that is only the Cut and Color page. However if you press alt or option+command or control+k it will pull up a page that I’m not sure were supposed to be able to access. However, if you scroll all the way down you will find a drop down menu that says show page. From here you can create keyboard shortcuts for each page you want to show..Version: 18.5.1

Just counted eight times in a row in 15mins. This has to stop in order to be effective. Reluctantly deleting and reinstalling app, scared that all of my files will be gone because of this CRASH, CRASH, CRASH! So, the Final Cut and professional, fancy editing colleagues actually win because they can complete a project longer than :45. Fix whatever bug is crashing the 18.5 on the latest iPad. Thx! ✓ CaveatA really nice video editor with a couple of caveats. First, be sure that the versions on your Mac and iPad are the same, otherwise your editing and project on the iPad cannot make the round-trip back to your Mac. Also, the smaller timeline above the larger view is a bit of a pain because I keep hitting it by mistake and jumping around to the wrong place. ✓ WohaaaI have the M1 pro with 16 ram , and even this monster sometimes struggles with this fantastic program, I have everything i want in this app and could not ask for more! ✓ A lot of promise, but…It crashed on launch (2 different iPads) but I just uninstalled,reinstalled and haven’t had another crash since. A few other things might be buggy though: - [bug] After editing a project for a while, I noticed my timeline is longer than it should be, kind of empty space at the end. If I put the playhead there and hit play, I hear audio from part of the beginning of my timeline but there’s no tracks there, not even audio ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - A lot of keyboard shortcuts from the desktop are available but not discoverable, would be nice to see this improved in the near future. Custom mapping would also be nice, but discoverability is the bigger issue right now. - There are certain actions you can’t perform without a keyboard, like muting audio-scrubbing, which is highly frustrating, thankfully I have an Magic keyboard. - The keyboard however doesn’t have F1, F2, etc… keys so there are some shortcuts I simply can’t use, these are rarely used in the world in my vast experience, kinda frustrating especially without any support for custom mappings currently. - I know the Cut page has never had timeline zoom, but given its the only option on iPad, I feel this needs to implemented. Even small 1-2m timelines require a significant amount of scrolling. - There’s pretty significant lag for very simple operations at times, like minor transforms for example. Not even during playback, I’m talking purely in the editor. This is likely due to it not being native components but unexpected for me and makes it difficult to have precision at times. Overall I love this software and as an iOS developer myself I’m super excited to see these things ironed out (hopefully) and to support future development, I’ve already upgraded to Studio. But the above and a few other enhancements (like improved gesture/touch support) need to make their way into the product before I can give it 5 stars..Version: 18.1.2

✓ Can’t wait to see where it goesI love that this is a full version. What I mean is that you can have someone on an iPad while someone is on a PC at the same time with cloud collaboration. I think the Cut Page and Color Grading pages are great for the iPad. It just needs to get the Fairlight & Edit page next. If you’re looking to get this, definitely try it first. If you’re already used to Resolve, then you’ll have 90% of the learning curve down. Definitely expect some learning curves. The workflow and other things will be a bit different and you will be slower than normal at first..Version: 18.5
✓ Productive and easy to interface with.The only drawback to this app is the amount of time I have realized I have wasted in other apps (and combinations of apps) trying to diy similar results. For me Luma Fusion has worked the best and had almost the same basic features and effects as Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere. *I never could get DaVinci to resolve any of his issues, so he ended up living his last years in despair**.Version: 18.6.4

✓ All things considered, amazingLong time professional DaVinci user on Windows and Mac here. The fact this runs as well as it does on my 10.2-inch A12 iPad amazes me - very stable and screams through 1080p H.264 footage with effects like it’s nothing. ✓ WARNING! If working across Desktop & iPad via BM Cloud…Decided to try working on a project on both iPad Pro and our Windows Workstation, and even my Surface Pro 7. A few pointers for the 1 in a billion who will be doing this! 1. Use a fast external SSD, like the Samsung T7 that we’re using. 2. Select the correct path for your media on each platform. (You only need do this once at the start of a project.) 2. The number of tracks varies, so if you jump from desktop to iPad or the other way around, you may experience tracks merging or moving further down the timeline off screen, so scroll down to find them. 3. Ensure you are using cross platform fonts. Arial is the standard font for this. 4. iPad version has bugs that won’t let you insert a clip from the media pool for no reason that I can fathom. 5. Prepare for weirdness when moving back and forth. Mission critical time critical project? Stick to one platform until all issues are sorted by BM. Overall, BM Cloud is a life saver. Not yet lost any work, and that is all that matters. Unlike FCP for iPad that is buggy and crashy, despite innovative UX..Version: 18.6.4

✓ Loved it - only if you use an exploitRecently someone found out that if you go to the apps keybind settings which I believe is accessible by "option,cmd,k" and you search for the show page function, you can bind the edit, media, fusion, fair light and export page to a keybind on your keyboard. When you activate these, the functionality is just perfect, better than anything like luma fusion of premiere rush and its just like working on a computer. You can also import all of your favourite plugins - any .settings file or .Drfx file to raise the functionality of the app even further. I really hope they don't remove this little trick, or decide to include the full version - as without it the app would be as boring and as mundane as every other editing software on this AppStore. 5 stars with the little trick 2 stars without.Version: 18.1.2

✓ Absolutely great (READ IF IT CRASHES ON STARTUP)Industry standard video editor on an ipad! and to all the people saying it crashes, im on an ipad mini 5, it works fine, what more can you ask for? if it's crashing on startup, delete it and reinstall it. This app is free and has more features than other "pls subscribe and give me money" video editors. Every other editor is permanently out of the question. Davinci Resolve includes amazing editing tools for free, with even more amazing tools with Davinci Resolve Studio, for $95, which is actually a pretty good pricepoint for professional software such as this. I’ve seen softwares that have only one focus, and cost $200, while this is a full-featured, Hollywood professional movie studio quality editor, which of course is more than suited for my needs, simply making memes and editing my videos, and while some people may be immediately turned off by the fact that it simply looks quite complex, keep in mind, almost no professional software (Blender, Affinity Photo, Davinci Resolve, etc.), does not look complex, as it’s possible to fit advanced features without hiding them away in 350 different bundles of menus. Overall, 11/10, absolutely outstanding piece of software. The one and only request I have is the addition of more tabs. (Fusion, fairlight, etc.).Version: 18.1.2

✓ Brilliant for version 1.0This app is excellent for a version 1. I have had no crashes on my M1 12.9 iPad and the XDR touch screen with this app works very well. ✓ The Haters know Nothing…Well… they might know something. It is lacking all the pages besides cut and color (as of july 24). You can get around this with some clever thinking and tutorials, but still. Everything is absolutely splendid and near perfect when you access the other pages, but a few things don't quite work right. 3D Keyer and Tracking, mostly. I know that they are technically not yet supported, but just keep in mind that if you are going to download this before the full version is released, there will be a few small problems. ✓ Desktop style video editing On-The-Go!I have been using DaVinci Resolve on PC for years. It’s always been an intuitive yet powerful video editing tool, able to be as simple or advanced as the user would like. When I heard it was coming to iPad, I was skeptical. I have the iPad Air 5 and wasn’t convinced it would operate effectively. However, upon downloading and working with it, I realized how badly I judged the shift to mobile. The videos I edited were only around 5 minutes at most, however it seems the application delivers quality results regardless of the needs. ✓ 18.5 Fusion page crashes on my iPadHi. DaVinci Resolve is more than fine for me. In the 18.5 update, all the pages like Edit, Cut, Colour, Fairlight is working fine. However, Fusion page doesn’t work. Whenever I open Fusion on my 2020 iPad Pro, it crashes, which previously worked just fine. I also have couple of projects made on Fusion page on my iPad. ✓ Keep it up, great start!So far, the app works great with the current features, although there are not feasible ways of doing very simple things, such as audio fades, but also the ability to use ultra key, like in Adobe Premiere Pro. Hopefully something like this can be added soon. Also the ability to scale the timeline would be great too, as it’s currently stuck in one viewing mode, or bringing edit mode to the iPad would fix this. ✓ Efficiency and performanceI haven’t used it to its full extent but I wanted to write a quick review to make an issue known. During export, when you switch to a different app, the export progress bar disappears, without any indication whether it’s still exporting or not. After awhile it fails. While the progress bar disappears and you try to export again, it won’t let you; nothing happens. You would have to quit the app and try again. Developers need to fix this issue..Version: 18.5.1

✓ Really good appSo okay, initially there were many bugs, but what app doesn’t have those when coming out. I would tell you to use this app with an M1 or M2 chip since it will utilize its video encoding sections which help a LOT with fluidity. I’ve been using DaVinci Resolve for 10 years just for fun and I’m so happy that black magic are still working hard to offer the best they possibility can and offer this wonderful editing software on the IPadOS ecosystem. If you’re unsure, take a look at latest 18.5 update (newest at the time of writing this). They work hard for us. Let’s all use this app and produce wonderful content or just have fun with it. ✓ A godsend!Having used DaVinci Resolve for a number of years on Mac and a owner of the Editor’s Keyboard and Mini Panel DaVinci Resolve for iPad has made most of my cut editing and grading mobile. I purchased the iPad Pro M2 in December for my production business and have found the app version very easy to get started with a little help from the many YouTube videos. I can see sadly that the reviews here are less than expected but bare it in mind people this is the ‘Hollywood’ standard for grading and this version is 1.0 so give some time and with feedback I have faith that Blackmagic Design will carve an app that will be everything that of what we see on the desktop version. I’m just simply happy that this has finally made it to iPad as certainly with the Speed Editor unit it has already made my week a lot shorter with edits being made on the go and in bed now! ✓ 2 audio files can’t play at once!Music and other audio can’t play at once. It does crash a lot too. I woul like it to be easier to add transitions. Also, having a dedicated menu screen would improve the layout. It is hard to learn, but I’m sure there are plenty of videos on it. I can’t watch them so, if you could maybe add a help section showing some of these, that would be great! I am considering upgrading to pro, but it won’t show me the price, it just asks for password. ✓ Early days and installI’ve been hoping this would happen for a while. Like Blender which is free, DaVinci has supported the video editing community with a free tool on the desktop for a while. I’ve installed the iPad version on a 12.9 M1 iPad. Bumpy start as it crashed straight away. However, reading the comments it was suggested that you delete and re-install the app which has solved that first issue straight away. Everything is running fine now. I will be purchasing the full version for the iPad when I’ve become familiar with how the iPad version functions compared to the desktop version. ✓ Edited and Published my first video using this app, was awesome!I am very happy with this app. I am suspecting more features are on the way but this was a great start. I created my first video using 4K footage from my Sony A7IV and multi-cam with some GoPro’s and I had no issues. Although I don’t normally use the cut tab, this forced me to try it and it turns out I really like using it. Very happy with this and for free, it’s amazing. I’ll be picking up Studio though. I know it’s still not fully released with all pages so using the other pages is ok but not smooth it crashes. But it should be fixed when the other pages are officially released. ✓ Traveling and EditingI’ve been travelling Southeast Asia for a good while and when I first heard that this was being released on iPad I was over the moon. I actually bought an iPad especially for it, which is kind of crazy to admit. It does everything I need it to and the fact that it’s portable and so powerful continues to impress and astound me. ✓ Resolving doorsResolve is a great edit system. The ipad app works really simply and well - the same layout as for OS - but there are functions that are hard to find, or are missing because they’re still being worked on - I hope. The Cut page isn’t there, only Edit which I find clumsier. Being able to shape audio levels in the timeline is missing, so simple overlapping crossfades (so far as I can see) are unavailable - which is very frustrating. ✓ Scroll scrubbing on Magic Keyboard for iPad not workingThe software is amazing… but the scrolling scrubbing of the timeline when using the magic floating keyboard’s trackpad feels off and inconsistent, it makes it very tricky to play the header were i need it to be to cut and edit footage… compared to somthing like LumaFusion, were the timeline moves perfectly with the swipe of your two fingers… allowing me to cut exactly were i want.. it also has some nice polish like inertia… making it feel more organic to scroll with… it would be awsome to see that scrolling bug/error/glitch fixed up… and with that fixed, I’d love to make this my main editing software!!!.Version: 18.1.2
✓ IPad Pro M1I see a lot of lack lustre reviews. This is an extremely powerful piece of editing software that just recently would have been unthinkable to operate on a mobile device. I have done some very complex edits on this, in line with what I would achieve on my M1Max desktop. Smart masking, noise reduction, voice isolation, speed warping. It is quite astounding. I would not recommend running this on anything below the M1 and if you are rating a FREE version of software that is THIS capable you should just move on and zip it and download something more simplistic. ✓ Getting better!Absolutely loving 18.5. My one change that would complete the experience would be the ability to zoom in on cut page. I understand the philosophy behind not being able to, but what can be the harm in allowing this? Just feels so intuitive sometimes to want to see more of the timeline, make it unzoomable by default with option to zoom in and out. The second big change: - 2 finger scrolling timeline, this works on edit page so would also love to see this on cut page. - currently it feels a bit weird 2 finger scrolling timeline on edit page if you scroll to the far left it feels stuttery and same when scrolling middle. ✓ Almost perfectThis is Blackmagic in every way, almost perfection. The app is 98% just like the PC version of it. Im missing little things but this are starting to bother after a couple weeks of use. It desperately needs a Menu bar to access all the options that are not mapped by default. ✓ How to purchase Studio?I haven’t started a project yet, but I have spent a couple of hours tabbing through some of the features and I am really impressed with what’s on offer so far. I have seen some features with the Studio watermark of sorts but I don’t see an option to purchase. I am also under the impression I can capture ProRes footage with this software using the M2 iPad Pro but I haven’t found anywhere within the software as of yet. Apparently I need to buy third party software to unlock ProRes capture but I am having difficulty finding any clarification on the subject. After spending a further couple of hours watching tutorials and tests for Davinci Resolve for iPad I am left excited of its capabilities and I am really looking forward to learning how it all works. Even if you don’t have any experience with DaVinci Resolve when you start using this app, the same situation I was in when I downloaded this app, you can easily start importing and editing footage in the app and learn as you go along. If you are interested in using all of the editing pages Mac users rely on, this can be achieved by simply evoking the keyboard shortcuts list and assigning keyboard shortcuts to the other pages in the app. This will enable you to enjoy the full DaVinci Resolve editing experience from the beginning of a project, through the delivery stage..Version: 18.1.3

✓ Valiant attempt but key pieces missingThis attempt to bring DaVinci to the iPad is amazingly well done. It is possible to construct and color grade a video timeline almost as good as you would on the full version. Almost but not quite. There are some shortcomings to the functionality especially in the audio features. Annoyingly there’s no easy way to fade in and fade out an audio track - - the little white handle that you can drag in the edit module of the full version is non existent on the iPad. For that matter, the edit module is not there at all, neither is the Fairlight module. Paying the $ 99 upgrade to the iPad studio version doesn’t open up these features either, although it opens up many additional transitions and fusion features. Don’t get me wrong, I have created several pro looking videos on my iPad with this app and I am amazed that it actually brings a fairly good version of DaVinci to a mobile device, it’s just missing some audio control features, which I am hoping will be added in future updates. ✓ Love Resolve but problem with 18.5 updateI’ve noticed since the update to 18.5 audio is about 20 frames off - audio is 20 frames early! I have had to adjust audio to sync with the video - in all pages. I have tried several files and they all have the same issue. Other than this, Resolve is fantastic. BTW, audio on Resolve on my iMac is fine - this is just an iPad Pro Issue (latest iPad Pro). Even with this issue, I still give Resolve 5 stars as it is an excellent app. I just have to adjust the audio track to match the video..Version: 18.5.0.1
