DaVinci Resolve for iPad for Positive User Reviews

Makes your iPad feel like a video editing machine. (Read if frustrated with not all pages)I’m not gonna lie there are some very specific workspaces this app can fit. If you have an iPad that slows down with normal tasks like checking the web I definitely would not recommend this app for you. I have and iPad Pro with a Magic Keyboard and that is the only way this app works for me. However if you have something like that you feel would work I would recommend this. Now I will talk about an issue that I had but I resolved through a creative method, you do need some sort of keyboard you can connect to your iPad. I came from DaVinci Resolve for my Mac and was soon frustrated by the lack of pages, that is only the Cut and Color page. However if you press alt or option+command or control+k it will pull up a page that I’m not sure were supposed to be able to access. However, if you scroll all the way down you will find a drop down menu that says show page. From here you can create keyboard shortcuts for each page you want to show..Version: 18.5.1

AMAZING! But, PLEASE STOP THE CRASHES!Editing on the couch with an Apple Pencil faster than my editors in a suite? Yes, please and thank you—- until —-WOOPS—— CRASH, CRASH, CRASH! Just counted eight times in a row in 15mins. This has to stop in order to be effective. Reluctantly deleting and reinstalling app, scared that all of my files will be gone because of this CRASH, CRASH, CRASH! So, the Final Cut and professional, fancy editing colleagues actually win because they can complete a project longer than :45. Fix whatever bug is crashing the 18.5 on the latest iPad. Thx! From all the couch-and-go miscellaneous editors..Version: 18.5.0.1

CaveatA really nice video editor with a couple of caveats. First, be sure that the versions on your Mac and iPad are the same, otherwise your editing and project on the iPad cannot make the round-trip back to your Mac. Also, the smaller timeline above the larger view is a bit of a pain because I keep hitting it by mistake and jumping around to the wrong place. Other than that, this video editor presents amazing functionality and possibilities..Version: 18.5.0.1

WohaaaI have the M1 pro with 16 ram , and even this monster sometimes struggles with this fantastic program, I have everything i want in this app and could not ask for more! I so much even prefer this over final cut or adobe premiere, Im just so damn happy that it is available for ipad !.Version: 18.5.0.1

A lot of promise, but…It crashed on launch (2 different iPads) but I just uninstalled, reinstalled and haven’t had another crash since. A few other things might be buggy though: - [bug] After editing a project for a while, I noticed my timeline is longer than it should be, kind of empty space at the end. If I put the playhead there and hit play, I hear audio from part of the beginning of my timeline but there’s no tracks there, not even audio ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - A lot of keyboard shortcuts from the desktop are available but not discoverable, would be nice to see this improved in the near future. Custom mapping would also be nice, but discoverability is the bigger issue right now. - There are certain actions you can’t perform without a keyboard, like muting audio-scrubbing, which is highly frustrating, thankfully I have an  Magic keyboard. - The keyboard however doesn’t have F1, F2, etc… keys so there are some shortcuts I simply can’t use, these are rarely used in the  world in my vast experience, kinda frustrating especially without any support for custom mappings currently. - I know the Cut page has never had timeline zoom, but given its the only option on iPad, I feel this needs to implemented. Even small 1-2m timelines require a significant amount of scrolling. - There’s pretty significant lag for very simple operations at times, like minor transforms for example. Not even during playback, I’m talking purely in the editor. This is likely due to it not being native components but unexpected for me and makes it difficult to have precision at times. Overall I love this software and as an iOS developer myself I’m super excited to see these things ironed out (hopefully) and to support future development, I’ve already upgraded to Studio. But the above and a few other enhancements (like improved gesture/touch support) need to make their way into the product before I can give it 5 stars..Version: 18.1.2

NiceI only use it to stretch the video to full borderless ratio aspect, basically stretched video aspect ratio..Version: 18.6.5

Can’t wait to see where it goesI love that this is a full version. What I mean is that you can have someone on an iPad while someone is on a PC at the same time with cloud collaboration. I think the Cut Page and Color Grading pages are great for the iPad. It just needs to get the Fairlight & Edit page next. If you’re looking to get this, definitely try it first. If you’re already used to Resolve, then you’ll have 90% of the learning curve down. Definitely expect some learning curves. The workflow and other things will be a bit different and you will be slower than normal at first..Version: 18.5

Productive and easy to interface with. The only drawback to this app is the amount of time I have realized I have wasted in other apps (and combinations of apps) trying to diy similar results. For me Luma Fusion has worked the best and had almost the same basic features and effects as Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere. *I never could get DaVinci to resolve any of his issues, so he ended up living his last years in despair**.Version: 18.6.4

Desktop-caliber features. The best there is.I used the free version of Resolve for years, but when I purchased this for my iPad, I loved it so much that I upgraded to the Studio version for desktop. That’s how good this is. For the price here, this is a steal. We need to support companies that still SELL software and not rent it with subscriptions. On iPad, this is the best there is..Version: 18.6.2

All things considered, amazingLong time professional DaVinci user on Windows and Mac here. The fact this runs as well as it does on my 10.2-inch A12 iPad amazes me - very stable and screams through 1080p H.264 footage with effects like it’s nothing. It obviously isn’t enough to replace my computer but for edits on the go and compiling animatics it’s fantastic. Would like to see Fairlight in the near future!.Version: 18.1.2

Great. Still crashes on start upNot sure how to solve this. So much potential..Version: 18.1.2.1

UNBELIEVABLE!!!Cannot belive this is FREE!?! And how much you can do on an iPad now?! Honestly… mind BLOWN 🤯.Version: 18.6.6

Updated reviewWouldn’t even launch earlier but fixed now after re-downloading..Version: 18.1.2

WARNING! If working across Desktop & iPad via BM Cloud…Decided to try working on a project on both iPad Pro and our Windows Workstation, and even my Surface Pro 7. A few pointers for the 1 in a billion who will be doing this! 1. Use a fast external SSD, like the Samsung T7 that we’re using. 2. Select the correct path for your media on each platform. (You only need do this once at the start of a project.) 2. The number of tracks varies, so if you jump from desktop to iPad or the other way around, you may experience tracks merging or moving further down the timeline off screen, so scroll down to find them. 3. Ensure you are using cross platform fonts. Arial is the standard font for this. 4. iPad version has bugs that won’t let you insert a clip from the media pool for no reason that I can fathom. 5. Prepare for weirdness when moving back and forth. Mission critical time critical project? Stick to one platform until all issues are sorted by BM. Overall, BM Cloud is a life saver. Not yet lost any work, and that is all that matters. Unlike FCP for iPad that is buggy and crashy, despite innovative UX..Version: 18.6.4

Powerful Editing on the GoVersatile and robust video editing app, perfect for content creators on the go. However, a music library subscription and foley sound library would greatly enhance the app's capabilities and make it even more appealing to users. Additionally, more advanced audio editing features would also be a welcome addition.👌🏼🙌🏻.Version: 18.1.2.1

Loved it - only if you use an exploitRecently someone found out that if you go to the apps keybind settings which I believe is accessible by "option, cmd,k" and you search for the show page function, you can bind the edit, media, fusion, fair light and export page to a keybind on your keyboard. When you activate these, the functionality is just perfect, better than anything like luma fusion of premiere rush and its just like working on a computer. You can also import all of your favourite plugins - any .settings file or .Drfx file to raise the functionality of the app even further. I really hope they don't remove this little trick, or decide to include the full version - as without it the app would be as boring and as mundane as every other editing software on this AppStore. 5 stars with the little trick 2 stars without.Version: 18.1.2

Cmd+Option+K to Unlock all the missing Edit, Fusion, Fairlight and Deliver pagesOn the shortcut page scroll down to the bottom and find Show Page. And from there, set the shortcut key for all those missing pages and you will see them magically reappear! Absolutely love Davinci Resolve for iPad. A super powerful video editing tool that is changing the industry..Version: 18.1.2

Probably works better on a newer iPadIt crashes a lot on my 8th gen ipad, but I don’t really blame the app, it’s most likely the age of my iPad. I’m sure it’s works better on a m1 ipad..Version: 18.1.3

Professional level edititingI’ve used both Premiere pro, and rush, but I always come back to DaVinci resolve. I still can believe it’s free.Version: 18.5.1

Absolutely great (READ IF IT CRASHES ON STARTUP)Industry standard video editor on an ipad! and to all the people saying it crashes, im on an ipad mini 5, it works fine, what more can you ask for? if it's crashing on startup, delete it and reinstall it. This app is free and has more features than other "pls subscribe and give me money" video editors. Every other editor is permanently out of the question. Davinci Resolve includes amazing editing tools for free, with even more amazing tools with Davinci Resolve Studio, for $95, which is actually a pretty good pricepoint for professional software such as this. I’ve seen softwares that have only one focus, and cost $200, while this is a full-featured, Hollywood professional movie studio quality editor, which of course is more than suited for my needs, simply making memes and editing my videos, and while some people may be immediately turned off by the fact that it simply looks quite complex, keep in mind, almost no professional software (Blender, Affinity Photo, Davinci Resolve, etc.), does not look complex, as it’s possible to fit advanced features without hiding them away in 350 different bundles of menus. Overall, 11/10, absolutely outstanding piece of software. The one and only request I have is the addition of more tabs. (Fusion, fairlight, etc.).Version: 18.1.2

Bring all the pages and features of the computer version to the iPad!Please continue to allow us access to all 7 pages and please continue to further develop the pages so that we can have all the same features that the computer (Mac/PC) version has. If that means I have to pay the $295 to have that, then so be it! Bring the full DaVinci Resolve experience to the iPad! Especially when no one else is giving us a powerful full fledged editor, aka Apple. This app is so powerful with all of its pages and features, without them it’s just another basic iPad editing app like iMovie, CapCut, etc..Version: 18.1.2.1

Brilliant for version 1.0This app is excellent for a version 1. I have had no crashes on my M1 12.9 iPad and the XDR touch screen with this app works very well. Especially with the Apple Pencil for fine control. You can see the other pages using keyboard shortcuts and the features are fantastic. Well done BlackMagic..Version: 18.1.2

The Haters know Nothing…Well… they might know something. It is lacking all the pages besides cut and color (as of july 24). You can get around this with some clever thinking and tutorials, but still. Everything is absolutely splendid and near perfect when you access the other pages, but a few things don't quite work right. 3D Keyer and Tracking, mostly. I know that they are technically not yet supported, but just keep in mind that if you are going to download this before the full version is released, there will be a few small problems. Nothing important though! I absolutely love Davinci Resolve for IPad :D.Version: 18.5.0.3

Desktop style video editing On-The-Go!I have been using DaVinci Resolve on PC for years. It’s always been an intuitive yet powerful video editing tool, able to be as simple or advanced as the user would like. When I heard it was coming to iPad, I was skeptical. I have the iPad Air 5 and wasn’t convinced it would operate effectively. However, upon downloading and working with it, I realized how badly I judged the shift to mobile. The videos I edited were only around 5 minutes at most, however it seems the application delivers quality results regardless of the needs. It’s definitely worth the free download for anyone who would like to get into amateur video editing on entry-level devices. Fantastic job..Version: 18.1.2.1

Doesn’t crash anymoreI know it’s not a recommended iPad, but would be good to at least open it and use HD footage as suggested..Version: 18.1.2

No well optimised for touchPlease add some sort of onscreen jog wheel On the Mac I love using your physical jog wheel along with the cut page source tape function to quickly move through footage and add selections to the timeline. Please add this type of quick workflow to the iPad cut page. A touch based jog wheel with the ability to quickly set in and out points and add them to the timeline.Version: 18.5.0.1

The app is not perfect yetThe app is definitely a game changer for iPad but needs improvement. I have iPad Pro M1, 1T, 11” and the app constantly freezes for no reason..Version: 18.1.2

It works great!I would suggest adding more of the desktop features to the mobile version, but the functionality it has works perfectly! It only crashes when my iPad can’t handle the amount of footage I’m using, but that’s just because I have an older iPad. I’ve never lost any footage or editing because of a crash..Version: 18.6.6

Absolute unit…Anyone who has a problem with it just don’t know what they’re doing or their device isn’t compatible. Amazing app…..Version: 18.1.2

Actually works on a 9th gen iPadI’ve been using DR18 on an M1 iMac, so was curious to see if it would work on my 64GB 9th gen iPad. It does. Okay it’s not going to have all the features (hence the 4 stars), but it’ll do for quick edits and colour grades. I find it easier to use than Lumafusion too..Version: 18.1.2

18.5 Fusion page crashes on my iPadHi. DaVinci Resolve is more than fine for me. In the 18.5 update, all the pages like Edit, Cut, Colour, Fairlight is working fine. However, Fusion page doesn’t work. Whenever I open Fusion on my 2020 iPad Pro, it crashes, which previously worked just fine. I also have couple of projects made on Fusion page on my iPad. Please fix this issue. Thank you.Version: 18.5

Keep it up, great start! So far, the app works great with the current features, although there are not feasible ways of doing very simple things, such as audio fades, but also the ability to use ultra key, like in Adobe Premiere Pro. Hopefully something like this can be added soon. Also the ability to scale the timeline would be great too, as it’s currently stuck in one viewing mode, or bringing edit mode to the iPad would fix this. Thank you guys, great job so far and keep going!! This app has the potential to even rival after effects in the industry at some point, but please keep fixing bugs and crashes as well!.Version: 18.5.0.1

Efficiency and performanceI haven’t used it to its full extent but I wanted to write a quick review to make an issue known. During export, when you switch to a different app, the export progress bar disappears, without any indication whether it’s still exporting or not. After awhile it fails. While the progress bar disappears and you try to export again, it won’t let you; nothing happens. You would have to quit the app and try again. Developers need to fix this issue..Version: 18.5.1

Check compatibilityApp opens and works flawlessly on 2022 iPad Pro M2. I see some of the people giving negative ratings are trying to use it on unsupported devices. Do your homework. So happy to finally have desktop video editing power on a tablet! Bravo Blackmagic. Now step up and bring us the same for audio Apple! Logic Pro please!! 😉.Version: 18.1.2

Amazing Free Video EditorI am finally able to edit my vacation videos on my iPad! Very easy to import from an external SSD and export without ever taking up my precious internal storage. Thanks Black Magic!.Version: 18.1.2.2

Crashes on startup 3rd gen iPad Pro 12.9Understanding this app says it’s optimised for M series chips, and limited on older devices, just to let the devs know it crashes on my 3rd gen iPad Pro 12.9 on startup. I have attempted restarting the iPad without any success. Rating 5 stars just because I haven’t actually been able to use the app but I love the PC version. Cheers!.Version: 18.1.2

So happy it’s finally on iPad!It crashes a lot on 1st gen iPad Pro (especially when I try to drag an image to the timeline or if I play on 2x speed), but hopefully it’ll get better with future updates because this is a game changer for editing. Love Davinci on desktop. Can’t seem to export the project to finish editing on desktop though..Version: 18.1.2.1

The worstThis mite be the worst tech ever this. Is so trash do not by this app it broke a my device do not get this wast of time 👎if you get sick that’s a sign of the app.Version: 18.6.6

Really good appSo okay, initially there were many bugs, but what app doesn’t have those when coming out. I would tell you to use this app with an M1 or M2 chip since it will utilize its video encoding sections which help a LOT with fluidity. I’ve been using DaVinci Resolve for 10 years just for fun and I’m so happy that black magic are still working hard to offer the best they possibility can and offer this wonderful editing software on the IPadOS ecosystem. If you’re unsure, take a look at latest 18.5 update (newest at the time of writing this). They work hard for us. Let’s all use this app and produce wonderful content or just have fun with it. Peace..Version: 18.5

Excellent on my M1 iPadFor those who have a crash problem (as I did), delete and re-download. Works just fine after that..Version: 18.1.2

Great startWhat a great start to Davinci on the ipad. Very impressed at the performance and capabilities on the 2018 12inch ipad pro. Yes some functionality is missing but finally a pro application. Adobe should take note on how to bring their application on ipad (just take a look at photoshop 🤦🏻.Version: 18.1.2

Almost perfectJust needs more stability on the rest of the pages (edit, fusion, etc….) and I would love to be able to zoom to pinch the timeline, but other than that it’s perfect. P.S. I’m a paid user for it and use it professionally on desktop, but this is perfect for my iPad and on the go work. If you’re a new user, this is the industry standard to learn on and the free version will take you where you need to go..Version: 18.5.1

A godsend!Having used DaVinci Resolve for a number of years on Mac and a owner of the Editor’s Keyboard and Mini Panel DaVinci Resolve for iPad has made most of my cut editing and grading mobile. I purchased the iPad Pro M2 in December for my production business and have found the app version very easy to get started with a little help from the many YouTube videos. I can see sadly that the reviews here are less than expected but bare it in mind people this is the ‘Hollywood’ standard for grading and this version is 1.0 so give some time and with feedback I have faith that Blackmagic Design will carve an app that will be everything that of what we see on the desktop version. I’m just simply happy that this has finally made it to iPad as certainly with the Speed Editor unit it has already made my week a lot shorter with edits being made on the go and in bed now! Thanks Blackmagic Design for bringing Resolve to iPad ❤️.Version: 18.1.2

Runs FineI bought a new iPad Pro 11 inch (4th Gen) with M2 so I could use this. Looking forward to learning it. I could use a tutorial for all the features even though I am familiar with the Studio version on my computer. I think the warning about whether it will work on non-M1/M2 devices is worth heeding. Don’t be disappointed by something that you’ve been told would have troubles on a less than capable(for this app) device..Version: 18.5.0.1

ShortcutsLove the app when I connect a Bluetooth keyboard and go into keyboard shortcuts to enable the missing pages, Fusion, deliver etc, Just wish there was a button to click without requiring a keyboard, I use fusion and deliver a lot to render pro res video with alpha, Would be 5 star without needing a keyboard.Version: 18.6.6

2 audio files can’t play at once!Music and other audio can’t play at once. It does crash a lot too. I woul like it to be easier to add transitions. Also, having a dedicated menu screen would improve the layout. It is hard to learn, but I’m sure there are plenty of videos on it. I can’t watch them so, if you could maybe add a help section showing some of these, that would be great! I am considering upgrading to pro, but it won’t show me the price, it just asks for password. Please fix! Five star app, just a few problems..Version: 18.5.0.3

Early days and installI’ve been hoping this would happen for a while. Like Blender which is free, DaVinci has supported the video editing community with a free tool on the desktop for a while. I’ve installed the iPad version on a 12.9 M1 iPad. Bumpy start as it crashed straight away. However, reading the comments it was suggested that you delete and re-install the app which has solved that first issue straight away. Everything is running fine now. I will be purchasing the full version for the iPad when I’ve become familiar with how the iPad version functions compared to the desktop version. As usual I’m sure a lot of the bugs will be sorted out but for the moment it’s a great start..Version: 18.1.2

Edited and Published my first video using this app, was awesome!I am very happy with this app. I am suspecting more features are on the way but this was a great start. I created my first video using 4K footage from my Sony A7IV and multi-cam with some GoPro’s and I had no issues. Although I don’t normally use the cut tab, this forced me to try it and it turns out I really like using it. Very happy with this and for free, it’s amazing. I’ll be picking up Studio though. Very happy, thank you!.Version: 18.1.2

Fix for crashing while starting appIf you have trouble with this app crashing while starting. First, delete the app. reboot your iPad, then reinstall the app. This should fix everything and it will start right away..Version: 18.1.2

At last, a great video editing app for iPadTruly excellent video editing software that users of FCP and Premiere will recognise and manage to get to grips with relatively easily even if they have not previously used it. Runs seamlessly on my iPad M1 breezing through 4K H.265 60fps footage. Finally a Pro level app which makes my iPad worth owning. Highly recommended..Version: 18.1.2

Unbelievably feature rich and freeAmazing to see how much they can fit into the app. Working well on my M1 iPad Pro - timeline and colour grading is excellent..Version: 18.1.2

The pro app the iPad needed!!!Very happy to see Davinci Resolve on the iPad. Can’t wait to color a project with my Apple Pencil! The only inconvenient I have so far is the path mapping not working. I have to relink manually all my files when working on a network project. But the fact that my network project works on day 1 is crazy! Thank you for that. Love the undo, redo and delete buttons in the left corner. Would love to see some more buttons there or customise it..Version: 18.1.2

Amazing appI use it for simple edits but am totally impressed with the capabilities.Version: 18.6.2

5-Star AppThis app is a 5-Star app. It works brilliantly on an M1 iPad Pro..Version: 18.1.2

No Magic Mask, just bought the paid versionI just bought the paid version for ipad, ipad pro with M1 chip and there is no magic mask option on the colour page. This is incredibly frustrating as this is why I got the paid version of this product. Can you please explain why this is?.Version: 18.5.0.1

Very good with a keyboardI am a YouTuber making videos… this was a big game changer my pc could not handle the power of DaVinci now my m1 iPad is rocking this without any difficulty. I know it’s still not fully released with all pages so using the other pages is ok but not smooth it crashes. But it should be fixed when the other pages are officially released. This is A great editing app for pro and casual user. Better than all the other “free” editing apps.Version: 18.1.3

A Student reviewI have just started a foundation year at Falmouth University doing a Film BA hons course. If it was not for this editing programme working on a Gen 9 iPad then I could not complete my modules. I hope to have a laptop next year and will be buying this amazing software..Version: 18.5.1

Works AMAZING on my A12X 2020 iPad Pro 11inch!I have no idea why this iPad model isn’t listed as recommended, it’s fast, it works well, it has no crashes, I was even able to get it to export a 4K video at 60fps, even though it said it was limited to HD! Once again, amazing app, amazing concept, amazing execution, although I would like to see an update with a friendlier UI at one point!.Version: 18.1.2

Traveling and EditingI’ve been travelling Southeast Asia for a good while and when I first heard that this was being released on iPad I was over the moon. I actually bought an iPad especially for it, which is kind of crazy to admit. It does everything I need it to and the fact that it’s portable and so powerful continues to impress and astound me. I’m new to editing but, as of right now, this has everything I need. Black Magic seems to be continually adding functionality available on the desktop version to this version and it’s comforting to see. As a complete novice I’d happily recommend this to anyone..Version: 18.5.0.1

Works well Runs GreatI was surprised it runs well on my slightly older iPad but it opens and runs really well overall a great app to have I really appreciate it and having it more accessible on the go is a truly amazing experience and a true blessing to have thanks.Version: 18.1.2

What a great piece of softwareLoving using Resolve on all platforms.Version: 18.5.0.3

Pro Level Software For Free!It amazes me how functional and full featured this App is. Realize that this app can import from and export to desktop. It will also keep all fx transitions and setting just as you left them. Thats pretty wild! I really enjoy the iPad work flow a lot now that I am getting used to it. I almost enjoy working on iPad more than desktop!.Version: 18.6.4

Get Full VersionConnect a keyboard to your iPad and use the shortcut Option+Command+k This opens your keyboard shortcuts. On the right side scroll all the way down to the “Open Page” section. Assign shortcuts to open every single page. Then exit the keyboard shortcut page and use your shortcuts to open the media, edit, fusion, fairlight, and deliver page!!!.Version: 18.1.2

ExcellentDavinci Resolve on iPad has transformed my mobile workflows..Version: 18.5.0.1

Outstandingly smoothBecame a recent fan of Davinci Resolve on my Macbook. But as I’m a traveling journalist, living full-time in a Ford Transit van, even more portability is critical. With the Cut and Colour pages, I’m as happy as a pig in poo! Damn well done, BMD. Works incredibly smoothly on my new 12.9” M2 iPad; and the reason I bought that device was specifically to run this software. To the whingers out there, get the right hardware and reap the benefits of awesome software. Thanks, BMD..Version: 18.1.2

Resolving doorsResolve is a great edit system. The ipad app works really simply and well - the same layout as for OS - but there are functions that are hard to find, or are missing because they’re still being worked on - I hope. The Cut page isn’t there, only Edit which I find clumsier. Being able to shape audio levels in the timeline is missing, so simple overlapping crossfades (so far as I can see) are unavailable - which is very frustrating. Being able to make good polished sound edits on an ipad system, which is always going to be for rough cuts, for initial ideas, for pitching, is so important - and is not available. There is a full gamut of audio effects, but those are not helpful in early stage, concept cutting..Version: 18.5.0.2

Scroll scrubbing on Magic Keyboard for iPad not workingThe software is amazing… but the scrolling scrubbing of the timeline when using the magic floating keyboard’s trackpad feels off and inconsistent, it makes it very tricky to play the header were i need it to be to cut and edit footage… compared to somthing like LumaFusion, were the timeline moves perfectly with the swipe of your two fingers… allowing me to cut exactly were i want.. it also has some nice polish like inertia… making it feel more organic to scroll with… it would be awsome to see that scrolling bug/error/glitch fixed up… and with that fixed, I’d love to make this my main editing software!!!.Version: 18.1.2

IPad Pro M1I see a lot of lack lustre reviews. This is an extremely powerful piece of editing software that just recently would have been unthinkable to operate on a mobile device. I have done some very complex edits on this, in line with what I would achieve on my M1Max desktop. Smart masking, noise reduction, voice isolation, speed warping. It is quite astounding. I would not recommend running this on anything below the M1 and if you are rating a FREE version of software that is THIS capable you should just move on and zip it and download something more simplistic. I can professionally edit and color grade Video anywhere?? Bonkers..Version: 18.1.2.1

An exciting starting debut! An exciting starting point for a software that has only given me joy from the beginning. Hard to learn, easy to use when you get practice. The best thing about the IPad version is that it looks a lot like its older version on Mac/PC, which makes it easier to handle. Still in an early stage, it promises a lot. In my case, as a journalist, I can make a video with interviews, voice over, and film material in record time..Version: 18.1.2

Fixed after reinstallingIt was crashing first, but fixed after reinstalling..Version: 18.1.2

Absolutely love it, but not the updateI absolutely love using DaVinci Resolve. I use it waaay more than any other editing software, but the most recent update has moved all kinds of things, and I am having many many problems that I didn’t before. I can’t even finish exporting any videos, it fails right at the end every time… please help and I’ll go back to 5 stars. Otherwise I’ll have to quit using it… no point if I can’t export..Version: 18.5.0.1

Will importing plugins /edit pages extra stay freeWill importing pugins stay free.Version: 18.5.0.1

SorryThe only reason I don’t like it is that it is very complicated—for me..Version: 18.5.0.2

Getting better!Absolutely loving 18.5. My one change that would complete the experience would be the ability to zoom in on cut page. I understand the philosophy behind not being able to, but what can be the harm in allowing this? Just feels so intuitive sometimes to want to see more of the timeline, make it unzoomable by default with option to zoom in and out. The second big change: - 2 finger scrolling timeline, this works on edit page so would also love to see this on cut page. - currently it feels a bit weird 2 finger scrolling timeline on edit page if you scroll to the far left it feels stuttery and same when scrolling middle. Other than that, blackmagic is the goat, this has made me a lot better as an editor.Version: 18.5.0.1

Almost perfectThis is Blackmagic in every way, almost perfection. The app is 98% just like the PC version of it. Im missing little things but this are starting to bother after a couple weeks of use. It desperately needs a Menu bar to access all the options that are not mapped by default. I believe the potential is infinite and new versions will only get better..Version: 18.6.2

How to purchase Studio?I haven’t started a project yet, but I have spent a couple of hours tabbing through some of the features and I am really impressed with what’s on offer so far. I have seen some features with the Studio watermark of sorts but I don’t see an option to purchase. I am also under the impression I can capture ProRes footage with this software using the M2 iPad Pro but I haven’t found anywhere within the software as of yet. Apparently I need to buy third party software to unlock ProRes capture but I am having difficulty finding any clarification on the subject. After spending a further couple of hours watching tutorials and tests for Davinci Resolve for iPad I am left excited of its capabilities and I am really looking forward to learning how it all works. Much appreciated!.Version: 18.1.2

Just what was needed.Just what was needed. I’d been hanging out for FCP on iPad. This works a treat and will likely convince me to move to Resolve on Mac as well..Version: 18.1.2

Perfect video editor for iPad ProI have spent years practicing video editing on a wide variety of platforms. As an Apple user, my go to app has been Final Cut Pro. The first time I used DaVinci Resolve was on the iPad. Now that I am taking classes on DaVinci Resolve I am amazed to see just how useful this app is if u are looking for the best video editing app on iPad. Compared to Lumafusion and iMovie, (both of which I have used on the iPad) this app is a the perfect professional video editing and color correction app you can use for every kind of video editing requirement. Even if you don’t have any experience with DaVinci Resolve when you start using this app, the same situation I was in when I downloaded this app, you can easily start importing and editing footage in the app and learn as you go along. If you are interested in using all of the editing pages Mac users rely on, this can be achieved by simply evoking the keyboard shortcuts list and assigning keyboard shortcuts to the other pages in the app. This will enable you to enjoy the full DaVinci Resolve editing experience from the beginning of a project, through the delivery stage..Version: 18.1.3

Love DaVinci except on my iPadI absolutely love DaVinci Resolve except it crashes and shuts down literally every 5 minutes or so. The iPad is less than a year old and has been virtually unused. I look forward to getting a laptop this year so hopefully I can use this program without the frustration of having to walk away from it so that it and I can cool down..Version: 18.6.4

AwesomeLooks like the bugs have been fixed because it opens on my M1 iPad. Can’t find how to upgrade to the pro version for existing customers who already won the desktop version… perhaps we have to pay for both now? Good job BMD.Version: 18.1.2

Crashes on launchI’m sure this is a terrific program. However, on my iPad Pro it crashes every time I launch the app. Hopefully an update is on the way to fix this issue. I agree with one of the other reviewers about having the iPad app, be identical to the desktop app, but obviously, with the only difference being the touch interface of the iPad..Version: 18.1.2.1

Не хватает кейфреймовФункция кейфреймов реализована плохо.Version: 18.1.2

New kid on the blockMove over lumafusion, this is free and more powerful. I use the studio version also and this is almost as good as the desktop one. More power to them, anything not needing a subscription should be supported. Go grab it..Version: 18.5.1

AwesomeThis is a great app! I was able to connect the speed editor and edit on my M1 11 inch iPad with no glitches. There are more profession features here and the muscle memory from DaVinci on a computer transitioned nicely to the iPad. In order to pay for studio, you need to use a studio only feature in the app. I am looking forward to seeing how it develops over time!.Version: 18.1.2

Game ChangingThis app is game changing! This is not a dumbed down version of resolve, it’s fully featured cut and color pages, and with cloud collaboration I can work on projects on desktop and iPad interchangeably. Can’t wait to see what BMD does with this app next! The deliver tab, and fusion tab would make this app nearly perfect. And maybe fairlight? And for free this app is a no brainer. Also I’m on a 2018 iPad pro, and have not run into any issues. So happy this is out!.Version: 18.1.2

The Davinci Resolve on iPad is what I was ALMOST looking for.Let’s just be honest here… We want this app to editing, color correcting, and all of this stuff… it is great to work outside of my main station: my PC. But when I say “almost”, there were some numbers of things that are still missing and hoping on one thing: the “edit” section. That one thing that I need the most. To move clips, adding music or sound effect, motion caption, etc! And other thing… I already bought a studio version from my PC, and you guys just told us to my another licence for this device? Like come on! Give us an update so we can spend one activation code on this device. If you’re like me, and just want to edit video with your heavy 4K raw footages while offline from your trip, this is it! Sure, you’ll experience crashes (forgot to mention one. Fix it.), but it is for what you get to edit and such (for now)..Version: 18.1.3

💡📊❕Developers, I have a suggestion for an enhancement to your video editing software: a customizable sound visualizer tailored for audio tracks. This feature should allow users to adjust visual elements like color schemes, waveform shapes, and intensity to match different audio tracks. The visualizer would ideally react dynamically and in real time to the audio, providing an engaging audio-visual experience. Including settings for frequency response and visual complexity would be beneficial. Such a feature would not only enhance your software’s functionality but also give users creative freedom to visually represent their audio tracks in unique ways. Thank you for considering this suggestion. I believe it would be a valuable addition for many users..Version: 18.6.3

Import from photo appWould love to see an import from photos app in a future update. Awesome job with how pro this is..Version: 18.1.2

DaVinci Resolve is a symbol of how well Pro apps run on iPad when developers care5/5 Because you can keybind to show the other 5 tabs, I paid for the full DaVinci Resolve on iPad as soon as I found out the other tabs would be available, I beg you please not to remove them, even if you make them paid add ons or desktop price, or if they’re restricted to people using Magic Keyboard, maybe they’re not touch friendly but I’m using them with Magic Keyboard perfectly fine and enjoying it, I view DaVinci Resolve as a symbol of what developers can do on iPad when they care which is why it means so much to me that the full DaVinci Resolve works on iPad..Version: 18.1.2

AMAZINGThis is simply amazing to see Blackmagic put Davinci Resolve on iPad. Looking forward to see the future update with more codec supported..Version: 18.1.2

Turn off Stage Manager and redownloadAnyone having issues with it crashing on startup needs to delete the app, turn off stage manager and download the app again. Don’t start DaVinci Resolve with stage manager enabled. Thanks to the Blackmagic team for the Christmas present. :).Version: 18.1.2

Some omissions but best there is!There’s no help section, no video tutorials, no account section to see if your upgrade went through, no contact details for help, and more. BUT this is the clearly the best editing app for the iPad and we should rejoice for the remarkable work Black Magic have done to achieve this! They show the industry (Adobe, are you watching?) that a full Mac app can be ported to iPad and be as simple and beautiful as the original. Thank you, Black Magic, for this wonderful piece of work! PS. Please fill some of these omissions when you get a chance!!.Version: 18.1.2

Valiant attempt but key pieces missingThis attempt to bring DaVinci to the iPad is amazingly well done. It is possible to construct and color grade a video timeline almost as good as you would on the full version. Almost but not quite. There are some shortcomings to the functionality especially in the audio features. Annoyingly there’s no easy way to fade in and fade out an audio track - - the little white handle that you can drag in the edit module of the full version is non existent on the iPad. For that matter, the edit module is not there at all, neither is the Fairlight module. Paying the $ 99 upgrade to the iPad studio version doesn’t open up these features either, although it opens up many additional transitions and fusion features. Don’t get me wrong, I have created several pro looking videos on my iPad with this app and I am amazed that it actually brings a fairly good version of DaVinci to a mobile device, it’s just missing some audio control features, which I am hoping will be added in future updates. I.Version: 18.1.3

Expectations.Surpassed my expectations..Version: 18.5.1

Love itI have enjoyed using this on the desktop and I must say the translation to the iPad is really easy to use. It looks and feels identical which is amazing. A great example of a multi platform app. I have always found DaVinci resolve a great place to be creative and this version is no exception. It will be great to see all of it eventually appearing on the iPad..Version: 18.5.1

Works flawlesslyWorked without a glitch in my iPad Air 4 on first attempt! Those one-star reviews must be trying to bring down the rating, can’t believe they’re innocent!.Version: 18.1.2

GREAT FOR WHATS INTENDEDThis editor really is the most complete version of video edition that I’ve seen on a mobile device and FREE for a quick simple edit or just to get some work done on the go but I’d say you can edit any video in here, ofc the desktop version (free) is more complete and has more tools but for what it is capable and for social media editing really makes life easier than carrying a laptop or going to the desktop to edit a simpler video , Really works great and runs smoothly on the iPAD Air 5 with the M1 Chip..Version: 18.5.1

DaVinci Resolve iPad AppAs we’ve come to expect from this Company, a first class delivery and supporting the community by providing a free, very inclusive version. Early stages yet but clearly this App has huge potential. We’ll done BMD, please keep up the good work. I’m eagerly awaiting details of the paid for version, presumably mirroring the desktop Studio version, now a market leader in it’s own right..Version: 18.1.2

Love Resolve but problem with 18.5 updateI’ve noticed since the update to 18.5 audio is about 20 frames off - audio is 20 frames early! I have had to adjust audio to sync with the video - in all pages. I have tried several files and they all have the same issue. Other than this, Resolve is fantastic. BTW, audio on Resolve on my iMac is fine - this is just an iPad Pro Issue (latest iPad Pro). Even with this issue, I still give Resolve 5 stars as it is an excellent app. I just have to adjust the audio track to match the video..Version: 18.5.0.1
