ADT+ for Negative User Reviews

Glitchy appDespite promises to integrate into the Nest, my doorbell does not show up, my other cameras are shown in the app but do not show video, and my thermostat doesn’t reflect changes made in the adt app. As for the alarm system itself, I only get notifications for arming and disarming (and those are hit or miss), I do not get push notifications, emails or texts when my alarm goes off or when one of the other sensors in triggered. Once while on the phone with ADT to fix the issues the police showed up because of the multiple alarms ADT asked me to set off to test the system(which they said was in test mode) I’ve gotten multiple false alarms from my water sensors and calls from ADT (but no notifications). Spent in total three hours on the phone with them and no solution. All in all a poor replacement for my nest security system..Version: 1.1.0

Sensors and Notifications issueI did the self setup last week. First, I suggest to anyone reading, make sure you get extra sensors. I think some are faulty. Two sensors I’ve had to reset multiple times. They randomly will chime as if a window is opened and the app says Open. I’m sitting right there, no one opened the window. There’s nothing that would impact the sensor to cause it to think the window was opened. If I open the window, it chimes as if it wasn’t open. Then I close the window, the app still says Open. After 5 times of open close, it never changes from Open. I reset the sensor, it was good for about an hour and then went thru the same exercise again. I have up and paired another sensor. I am only getting notifications via email. I want push notifications. In the app, when I go to notifications, they are off, after two seconds, it, by itself, turns to the on position. I leave notifications and go back in, it’s back to the off position then goes to the on position. I have yet to receive a single push notification. So far, I’m not overly thrilled with this product, but I’m still new so I’ll see if anything improves..Version: 1.1.0

App is brokenI am waiting on our replacement system from Nest and am already having issues with this service. I’ve created a profile and am now stuck in an endless loop where I’m being asked for my name and email when I login on the app and then it tells me I already have an account and to check my email. I check my email and it tells me to go to the app and login. Starting to see a lot of similar negative reviews from previous Nest users. We may be cancelling this service even though it’s free for a year depending on how the system actually works once we receive it. So far - super disappointed..Version: 2.2.2

Worst customer service in existenceDo not sign up for their monthly monitoring. The only way to cancel is to call and only “account managers” can cancel monitoring so they make you wait hours on hold and then disconnect your call. This company is legitimately scamming people - beware..Version: 1.1.0

Can’t even use my ADT system because app doesn’t workI purchased an ADT system several weeks ago and have been trying to install it but the app simply returns a “something went wrong” message and can’t verify my account to complete the setup. Called ADT and was told their engineers are working on fixing the app glitch but I can’t set up and use my system until they do - and was not given a clear time frame on when that will happen..Version: 2.0.0

Clunky AppThe app is horrible compared to Google Nest. The app doesn’t always respond and I’ve had it for a year now. Typically I have to force close the app and reopen it…daily. The products are fine and service is good, but fix the app. My next home won’t carry over ADT at this rate..Version: 2.2.0

User Interface has no Buttons to pressI have been trying to setup my at home system for 2 weeks. Their app is horrendously bad, I have been stuck in 2 different doom loops where the app gives me nothing to press. Just a red banner of ‘try again later’. I’m so tired of this app and hub system, I can’t do anything on my own. I don’t see the point of all the fancy machinery when my ability to setup my account and get past initial setup is impossible. In video game terms, there are game breaking bugs on primary story quests. And it’s like I can’t even use my controllers. The console, ADT hub, is a brick with a flashing light..Version: 2.2.0

Newer Google Nest wired doorbell not compatible with appWhy is the newer google nest doorbell (wired version) not compatible with this new Adt+ app? This is unacceptable given that the wired version of the doorbell is newer than the battery version. Please push an update so that the wired google nest doorbell camera is visible through the adt app!.Version: 1.1.0

System status does not update properlyWhenever I arm my system “Stay” from the app, I cannot disarm the system from the app unless I quit and restart the app. I arm “Stay,” then put my phone to sleep or switch to another app. When I return to the app more than 1 minute later, the screen is stuck on the arming animation. Quitting and reopening the app is the only way to fix this..Version: 2.2.1

DisappointedI was happy to get the system for free from google, however I won’t be sticking with it. The app won’t load most of the time and the hardware is cheap and not nearly as functional as nest. Compared the the nest alarm, this feels like 3 steps below. Disappointing..Version: 1.1.0

Worst app ever built!You couldn't have build the worst app than this. Logging in is a nightmare and it often hangs and we had to end up killing the app to make it to work. Why does it ask every time if I want to enable face id. It feels like the product team put in zero thought in to this. Everytime I log in to this app, It frustrates me. I wish google had never bought ADT so that I would use nest which I thought was the worst app ever. But, Guys, you proved me wrong. UI is terrible. Horrible experience!.Version: 2.2.2

100% useless with google home productsGoogle sold out and provided a free self install kit, saying that the system was essentially migrating. Well, none of my google home products works with ADT. Not my 2023 released doorbell, none of my cameras, none of my sensors. Don’t waste your time, unless you love waiting on the phone for unhelpful reps..Version: 2.0.0

Do not waste your timeI trusted ADT and I am so upset. Their latest software update is horrible. I spent all this money on equipment that I can’t even set up with the app. How have they not fixed this yet?? Spend over an hour and a half on the phone with people and nothing works..Version: 2.0.0

So Glitchy on setup…Out of the box I had to call customer service 3 times to have them manually activate my account. App would get caught in a verification loop. Pairing was so glitchy. Then… when adding smoke detector it doesn’t let you type any characters when naming!!! I have to call again. Same problem on my husbands app. Tech folks please look into this glitch..Version: 2.2.1

Worst Experience Ever in an AppWouldn’t let me create an account. After a week of calling customer service they finally fixed it. Then now it won’t let me add devices. Have been without a security system for 2 weeks. I have never felt less supported by a company in my life. Awful experience. Stay away!!.Version: 2.0.0

Application did not work for me at allI tried everything to get this thing to work but everytime I would try to instal a device it would just crash and log me out. Terrible product - Cannot be trusted!!!How did my 1-star review get deleted?? Long story short - compared to Google Secure this is inferior product. Door sensors lack silent button, lights and motion detection. More importantly DOES NOT work. One had to be factory reset 3 times to start chiming when opened. The other is chiming, but when set AWAY it doesn't trigger an alarm when opened. It is set up the same way as 2 other sensors that work well. I got this product for free and yet it was not a good deal… Update: after 3 factory resets - it stopped chiming (although it still shows it is being opened). So it does basically nothing. Can’t LoginI ordered the self starter kit. Went through the account creation process. Now, I have an account and when I click login it makes me enter my name and email and says is “account already created” which is obvious. No email and password and go. Brutal.Version: 2.2.0

ADT+ CustomerWhile ADT+ customer service impresses me, the equipment and operational procedures relegate customers to a secondary status, lacking the same support as regular ADT clients, creating a sense of being marginalized. Although ADT positions itself as a leading home security provider, the ADT+ service modality provides the customer with a significant lower quality in products, making the customer feel like a bastard unwanted child. When I attempted the cancel the service I was told that I had to pay $1600 for early termination for a product that has not even met the basic standards of being able to operate. Again, the ADT+ customer service is amazing but not it’s product and technical support. This highlights a significant contradiction, if you are thinking about a home security system, do not place the security of your family in a huge contradiction look somewhere else and do not contract ADT+ which is aimed to collect money from you without delivering the peace of mind you are looking for while shopping for a reliable home security system. Worthless AppI armed my alarm via the app several times last night and it would disarm. After finally getting through to the ADT support desk, I was told to use the alarm hub, because the app wasn’t working properly..Version: 2.0.0

Location Services or Presence Sensing?More a feature request, but I am very surprised there is no presence sensing or location services build into the ADT+ app. This would enable location based services like automatically arming or disarming the alarm system upon leaving or returning home. A great feature in Nest Secure platform that is clearly missing here, and would really enhance the home automation concept with ADT+..Version: 1.1.0

ADT+ app doesn’t workAfter several tech support calls, and trying to reconnect my ADT home security system to new router, the app stopped working and can no longer set the system. Worst tech support and product . I’m ready to switch to another company. The app is glitchy and calling for support is a duplicative and entire support system is inefficient and a waste of time. App responsiveThis app has to be rebooted every time you want to do anything on it. It seems like an intern at google made it. The only reason I have to use it is because google discontinued their alarm system. It’s a really bad app..Version: 2.2.0

Crashes on new device setupReceived my equipment for self-setup and downloaded ADT+ app. Consistently crashes when attempting to add new devices on both iPhone and iPad. Web app does not even let me past login screen. Customer support says is caused by bug in latest version that has no anticipated fix date. No other workarounds available, so now I am stuck with a bunch equipment I can’t use. Doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in ADT protecting me in a real emergency. Attempted to return equipment and cancel my contract, but support put me on hold and never came back..Version: 2.0.0

Not anything like Nest SecureLOVED the Nest app, my security system, doorbell, outdoor cameras and smoke detectors all in one app and easy to access. Only after installing and setting up the ADT+ app and ADT Self Setup system and linking the ADT+ app with permissions to Google do you find out gen 1 cameras and doorbells are not compatible. My Nest Hello door bell does not show up in the ADT+ app and funny enough my Next Outdoor Cam (which is not supported) shows up in the ADT+ app but has a black screen with a warning stating limited function. (No amount of trouble shooting will fix this) In fact the only Nest/google product that does have access in the ADT+ app is my Nest Thermostat. ADT and Google are both unaware of what actually works and doesn’t work, hours spent talking to them booth. Their solution? Buy a new Google battery doorbell and Google Outdoor battery camera if you want it all to work in one app… I spent close to $1000 on my Nest alarm, doorbell and camera and per usual Google has messed it all up. Stay away and invest in something like Ring where everything actually works in ONE app! *Update I called the number that ADT suggested in their corporate response.. zero progress made on either side, waste of time for all parties involved. Logging in is a nightmareSince the update is a nightmare to log in. It takes forever with the two step identification. I’d rather arm the system at the panel than using the app!.Version: 2.2.0

Takes way too long to loginThe ADT+ app needs an overhaul in my opinion. The main issue is with logging in. It takes entirely too long. When you are standing out in the the cold trying to disarm your system, when you open the app, it should only take a few seconds to login. It’s not very fluid. Sometimes it open another window where you need to enter your email address again and log back in, instead of just clicking on the app, using facial recognition, and being in the app. I also have the font on my phone enlarged a little bit and when I go to select Arm Stay, Away, or Night, it becomes a challenge to select the correct setting as the app is not adapting to the larger font size..Version: 2.2.2

Epic FailThe app continues to send the message that email verification has failed. After deleting and reinstalling the app many times, after multiple conversations with customer service, and a month after purchasing ADT (because Nest is going to be disabled) we still have no security system. I am now left with the decision to try and find a different security system. I’m perplexed as to how the largest security system in the US and the largest search engine company in the world have come together and this is the outcome. Complete and utter disappointment..Version: 2.2.2

Abysmal appAfter about 3 weeks I stopped receiving notifications of camera movements and sensors, only for arming/disarming. Now the app is saying I have no saved media and isn’t showing my cameras at all. I just redownloaded the app to see if that’ll fix anything..Version: 1.1.0

Worst app and system everThe app is incredibly slow to respond. It doesn’t automatically refresh so it will say your system is either offline or the status will be inaccurate. The only solution is to open the app and swipe closed (force quit) then reopen. It just seems like ADT threw this out in the market to compete with newer solutions. Incredibly disappointing..Version: 2.2.1

Terrible app, terrible serviceIt took hours to complete just the account setup… and then I get to start setting up the system. No fun there either. The hub loses WiFi connection 12 feet away from the router! That is not an exaggeration. Now to start the process to get my money back… will see how that goes. Update 3/24: My original review on here was in November and ADT gives a response 4 months later. That alone should tell you everything you need to know about this horrible company. To this day ADT sends me a bill for late payment on one month of service I never used. Then they reply here months later and act as if they care. Yeah, they know where to stick it..Version: 2.2.2

The app does not work how their support intendThe app is made to be simple, to simple. The support can never get an understanding of errors for my account. Known Setup Issues w/out FixI just spent hours trying to setup my ADT+ app to add my new system (converting from Google Nest) and could not get past the Verify Your Purchase error. IT support said this has been a known issue for months and all we can do is wait until they fix it. In the meantime, my Nest security ends this month and I just have to go without a security system? Sales Team Lied About Nest CamerasI have 5 nest cameras, Nest Cam IQ, Nest Hello Door Bell and regular Nest Pro Cam. I can’t see any of these cameras in the app. Don’t buy this service. I spent 3 hours on the phone trying to figure this out with customer service. They kept trying to transfer to Google, it seems as if they don’t have a dedicated ADT + team. No where in there advertisement on their own website does it tell you your cameras won’t work. I am returning and selling my Google Nest cams. I thought this was a solution for me, but Ring will be better..Version: 1.1.0

Latest Update is GlitchyApp has worked fine, but the latest update, I keep getting alerts that one of my indoor Best cameras sees a person, and there is no one there. The Google Home app doesn’t register any motion, so something is screwy with this update..Version: 2.0.0

Needs fixesThis app is convenient for remote use. However, it would really be helpful if the app did not lag or pause when you open it. we had a potential scare, and because of the lag it took what felt like forever to find out what sensor had been opened. another major opportunity for this app would be to allow for a panic option if the operators are unable to reach the system in an emergency. It seems dangerous to have to run downstairs to set off the panic alarm..Version: 2.2.0

No longer possible to add devicesThey broke the app so that entering a device name always says you entered nothing and doesn’t let you continue. This completely prevents using any ADT sensor, making the system useless. 2 weeks and no fix in sight. Do not buy this system as you will not be able to set it up until they eventually get around to doing something when they feel like it..Version: 2.2.2

Absolute rubbishIssue after issue trying to install there self install system- not at all as simple as SimpliSafe, not by a long shot. I really was looking forward to my Nest cameras being able to integrate with my security system but ADT is garbage. You want to see for yourself how great they are? Try calling any of there support numbers (other than sales) and just see how long it takes to get a human. My second or 3rd 30 minute holding call was disconnected after the automated system came on to tell me they were closed and to call back during business hours and that they closed at 9pm est- it was only 7pm est. Even had I got the system working I’m glad I got to experience there support before getting the $1000 system fully installed, I don’t want a company that you can’t even contact to what over my home 🤷‍♂️.Version: 1.1.0

An embarrassing appGot a self install kit from the google deprecation of its security system. Oh boy, I hit I think every issue others have called out in their reviews, it’s so obviously broken I can’t imagine why the company has not fixed it. You need to call their number and speak with a person to unbreak your account so you can even login. Countless other errors that magically fixed themselves after 10+ retries. If anyone has used another self service app, this one is missing obvious features such as a glance of the devices in the system. A simple question “are any doors open?” is not answerable without multiple taps around the app. Take a look at the countdown when you arm your system. I’ve never seen a countdown go in two second increments. Except they are not exactly 2 seconds, I’ve seen it jump 3 seconds before. ADT has a real stinker of an app with this one. Google integration, like others have said, is broken at best and nonexistent for most. I’ve disabled it to get rid of the black screen nest cameras that claimed to be supported but most definitely are not..Version: 2.2.2

Can’t loginI purchased a self install kit and created an account but I can’t login. It keeps asking me to enter my info, and when I do, it tells me I already have an account with that email address. There seem to be so many similar complaints all over the internet and here in the App Store reviews. You are losing customers and revenue. I have already contacted support and still no resolution. One person online claims they had to call more than 20 times before it was fixed- I am not that patient. Unfortunately I will have to return my kit and get a refund..Version: 2.2.0

App is broke, be unsafe with ADT 🤡We just hired their complete service, and bought all the equipment. But, we still can’t use it because the app is broken. My husband called the customer service to hear from them “wait for a few days” until they fix the app. Meanwhile, what are we supposed to do? Pay for a service that is not working? And also wait that nothing will happen in the meantime because if it does, well, our home alarm system is not active? This is treat customers like clowns. I’m extremely disappointed. **Update**: they responded me here, and yes, I have called the support like 3 times now and its always the same response - they ask you to wait for them to fix the app. And it gets better: they said there’s something in the system they can’t find my registration information. ADT scamI bought and paid for the system nearly 2 weeks ago. Went through hours of being forwarded from person to person. Always being given a round about for this stupid app not to work and being told a week ago that I will be contacted in 24-48 hours with a resolution. Now I have a useless system and I can’t verify my account because this app doesn’t work. I need someone that will help me or I want my money back.Version: 2.0.0
