✓ Strange appAt first, this app became a huge craze at my school as I started seeing people posting it on their stories and decided to give it a try. As you can guess this app becomes extremely addicting and me and my friends even had a group chat dedicated to all the pop-ups we got on the app. However, we started to realise that we had given the app our full names, profile pictures of our faces, our phone numbers and most importantly, our school. Which sounds idiotic, but when everyone you know is banging on about a new app it’s likely you’ll get persuaded. In conclusion, don’t get this app please it is quite creepy and addicting..Version: 1.56
✓ DO NOT DOWLOADSo I got a message from a number that I didn’t know saying a “friend” FROM MY BOYFRIENDS OLD HIGH SCHOOL! has sent you a compliment. And when I downloaded the app it opened my unopened messages on the messaging app without me even opening the app yet?? And then I decided to look at reviews and deleted it immediately after hearing about other people’s experience with the app. I do not suggest downloading the app at all.Version: 1.46
✓ Good app but glitchesThis app is a really fun app it's also a kind app since it gets people to pick people for nice complements instead of bad ones. All together it is a fun app to socialise with Ur friends in another way. But some things I can complain about are the long waiting time after u doing the polls, after I do the poll I try cashing out my coins but all it does is load and load for a very long time and lastly it's glitches in genuine but overall it is a good app to use but needs these minor glitches to be fixed..Version: 1.41
✓ Good app, some changes need to be made though.I do like this app, it’s fun and interesting to use. but, often times, it’s a bit of a scam. like for example, when you get a compliment from someone, there’s an option to “reveal sender” at the bottom, and you have to send the app to someone in your contacts to do that. but, once you’ve done that, it only tells you the first letter of their name, and you have to pay £4.99 per week to see their full name!! also, when you click on your profile, there’s an option to get 10 coins if you invite a friend to the app. i tried that twice, and it didn’t give me any coins at all either times. i do like that you can be friends with people who you know in real life on there though, and that you can also vote for people who you know in real life on the polls made by the app. overall, i’d say this app is fun, but very frustrating at times..Version: 1.41

✓ Scared me about my daughters future!!My husband and I were spending the day together while our daughter was with her grandma and both got multiple random messages saying we were “invited/voted for” by people (his was someone completely random and mine was someone from a school i went to over 6 years ago). Went to download it as we were both so confused what it was and then saw all these reviews about people experiencing the same things so deleted it immediately before I even put my information in. I texted the person who was “inviting me” and they said they had no idea what that was and how they got my number. Very stressful, uncomfortable and creepy please report and delete this app as it is VERY dangerous for young children, I would hate to think this is what’s out there for my 3yr old girl to experience in the future and is very clearly a gateway for predators!! ✓ UnnecessaryI’m going to be completely honest, this app is the gas app copy pasted. it’s kind of useless and gives fake info in exchange for sharing the app. it also allows middle schoolers to add themselves to the high school groups which in my opinion is unsafe and a little odd. however, i’m really addicted to it right now for the sole purpose of me and my friend giggling at what we vote for each other. it has like two pros but other than that i suggest not wasting your time..Version: 1.54

Firstly, they use your friends contacts which they gain access to through the app to message you with fake promises of people using your name in the surveys so you download it. they ask for your school when you download it so they know where you go to school and then I guess infer where you live. Finally, they can get access to your camera roll and location, but you can’t turn it off in settings, so once you do it you can’t undo it. I, like many others, received a message saying that I had been complimented by someone and there was a link containing the name of one of my friends. I naively downloaded the app and immediately it asks for tons personal information like address, age, gender, school etc. Then it asks for access to your contacts. A while after I was notified by people in my contacts that they had received an invite to the app with my name in it. ✓ Steals your data, impersonates people and preys off kid's insecuritiesFirst of all, this app wants your name, phone number and what school you go to! Obviously stealing that data. I've looked into it deeper and it is obvious directed at children, by not only requiring you to put in what school you go too, but also using gen z terms such as "w-rizz" and "slay". So how does it prey off insecurities? Well the app is based off of anonymous compliments, and it says whether a girl or boy sent this compliment. You get a little dopamine kick every time you get a compliment on this app leading to addiction and reliance on the app to feel better. It has a whole feature of saying that people have crushes on you. This is all clearly to make you feel happy when you use the app and addicting you in a toxic way. The app also sends you compliments, pretending to be your friends. Additionally, there have been reports of it sending a download link to the app to your contacts without consent. Now here is the crazy part. The app makes fake accounts impersonating your contacts to further make you feel left out. This is outrageous. Also, all the compliments are anonymous and multiple choice to remove any personal connections so you don't feel left out. ✓ Not as greatI have had W app for just over a month now and I’ve noticed a lot. When you do polls you get coins and can get perks at certain amounts BUT when you are inactive for a period of time, they rob you of the coins you worked hard for from the past and they put you into the negatives…..I’m sorry but I had a good few coins atleast 2 weeks ago and now it’s gone. Also if you disable notifications you don’t really get onto polls as you usually get a compliment every few days but because I turned notifications off, I haven’t had one in 29 days. ✓ Scam game that’s pretty much a predator play groundSo if you’ve planned on using the app, I suggest you please don’t. The app is pretty much a predator playground that knows pretty much all of your friends and where you live. It sends texts to people to download the app similar to old computer emails, but instead it’s pretty much a malware that wants to target people with low self confidence. The app asks you to do anonymous polls for people you know and people choose you that are shown on your feed. This is simple, but it gets a bit weird sometimes. I personally had people choosing me that while I didn’t know who exactly sent it, I knew they weren’t in my school and were 3 grades above me sometimes. The same applies to when you choose someone in the polls. I kept getting people I didn’t really know a lot so I ended up skipping it a lot. It also lies when you choose a person and says that was the most picked person, which could make sense if it didn’t say the same thing every choice you make. Anyone can sign up, their website says to only join schools you attend yet the app will text anyone in your contacts to sign up. Clearly, there is an issue here with anyone having access to names of children attending schools nearby. The app asks for your location to show nearby schools too. ✓ MAJOR PRIVACY BREACHI don’t know what or how but this app messaged me saying I’d been complimented by random people. I thought it was a scam but the message had my best friends name on it. I clicked one the link and downloaded the app to see what had been said about me. When opening it, IT IMMEDIATELY ASKED FOR MY SCHOOL 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩I proceeded anyway. It then told me IT WOULD NOT MESSAGE OR SPAM MY CONTACTS, even though it texted me. It then asked me to take part in anonymous polls in order to view my “compliments”. ✓ Shady marketing strategiesThe app itself is pretty good and I’ve ran into no problems with it loading, etc. However, the anonymous nature of it mixed with the app automatically adding contacts of people you know, and sending them a message to download this app leads to addiction and superficial emotions. I predict someday it’ll get out of hand and the app may be shutdown for these malpractices. I think this app is quite shady in the way it attracts new users, which is the only reason it’s been able to spread so much recently. It’s the equivalent to those email worms in the early 2000s, but instead of malware, it feeds off addiction to get people to spend a certain amount of money PER MONTH on revealing the sender.
