✓ Get a different appI've tried this app and aim for im and while there are some advantages to this one, there are more disadvantages. really the one thing I like better about this one is the landscape keyboard and that's about it. you can't determine is contacts are online or mobile and it's important for me cause I don't want to go texting someone if I don't need to. also it doesn't so pictures or buddy icons. this is really annoying if you're using this app for myspace I'm because my friends change their name a lot and w/o pictures I can't tell who is who. and finally the most annoying thing in my opinion is that on the keyboard, the done needs to be changes to send. it's so annoying when everytime I go to send a message all that happens is that the keyboard just goes away. and then they go and change it from a full version to a lite version. so if I were you I'd go with a different im app. I'm sticking with aim until beehive lowers their price or another cheap apps comes out with myspace im and aim..Version: 0
✓ Almost there... Just need a few more thingsCurrently I'm using BeeJiveIM and I think I'll keep using it until the Push notification updates arrive to IM+ and then maybe I'll re-visit it. I don't like that I can't set a custom Avatar for my Msn/Live messenger. I also have several buddies that are blocked on my desktop msn and IM+ does not show which buddies are blocked or not. linking buddies to my iPhone contacts list is also missing. All of which I can do in BeJive. IM+ Would be a solid application once the iPhoneOS 3.0 Push Notification is added and if I could see which buddies of mine where blocked. It would be an additional bonus if I could block/unblock buddies within IM+ as well besides just seeing blocked ones. If those features where added I'd pay for the software without hesitation and rate it a solid 5, however for now I'll have to just give it a 3. ✓ Horrid!I was really looking forward to this app as I had this on my blackberry before and was enjoying it but it needs much improvement. I cannot log into MSN with it, it crashes when I attempt to change my status. tried uninstalling and reinstalling and same thing. Same thing with google talk. Shape Services has alot of work to do if they wanna compete with jivetalk like they did on the blackberry..Version: 0

✓ A few complaintsFirst off the App is good.. It could be great though. It works way better than the AIM app. One major complaint I have is the time it stays connected. In the description it says stays connected 72 hours. I have to agree with some people and say that's bull. It may stay connected for maybe a few hours before it sends me a push notification that my session is going to expire in 10 minutes and I need to reopen the app to renew. That gets annoying really quick. Especially if your not someone who cosntantly checks IMs or people logged in. With the major complaint out of the way, secondly sometimes when I first open it and go to an IM the Add takes up the whole screen so I can't see what I'm typing. I have to go back to the list then reclick the person. Other than that I love this app. If these problems were fixed I'd happily give it 5 stars..Version: 0

✓ Average With Flaws...It's a good app and allows for multiple accounts which is cool. I initially installed it because of the ridiculous privacy terms and conditions you're forced into by using the Facebook Messenger app. Figuring this would be a great alternative I found I was only half right. The app doesn't allow for you to receive group based chats. It also won't 'fetch' any new or unread messages. Instead, it requires for you to be online at the time of that message or you won't get it at all. The app also automatically logs you out (presumably for server health) if you stay on for too long which means your friends can't message you hoping you'll eventually see their message. ✓ Needs polish, but very promisingIM+ shows a lot of promise - its interface is cleaner, more logical and easier on the eye than Palringo, and unlike Palrobgo you don't have to sign up for a service to use it. It needs some polishing touches before I would use it as an everyday IM app - at the moment, the contact list doesn't differentiate at all between contacts from different services (I use Windows Live and AOL/iChat), and the in-chat display is very primitive - your messages just show up in plain text, no boxes or speech bubbles or contact icons or anything. Plus, as other have mentioned, it doesn't make any sound or vibrate when a message is received, and the connection can be unreliable. All very fixable problems. ✓ Decent for gchatI use it for Gchat at work and it works well enough, but doesn't sync messages well if I start switching between my pc and phone For example if I start a conversation on pc, and try and continue it while on the app I'll lose several messages in the chain. The other annoyance is the status. It works well to push a status to gchat (getting a green dot while away from my computer for example), but once I'm back at my desk and change my status from the pc it has an issue with syncing up and will bug out until I change it from the app. Not a huge issue, it's just annoying that I have to open the app to change my status when it should sync both ways..Version: 8.5

✓ Promising but needs lots of lovin'Probably second best to Palringo, in the multi-IM client category, but a very far second. Reliably connects, but has issues keeping those connections alive. I'm often having to reconnect. Luckily reconnecting is a breeze, and dropped connections don't seem to crash the app. I have had crashes tho, only they seem random, which can be frustrating. Doesn't display avatars and doesn't display protocol badges. Message field is too close to keypad and spellchecker popup interferes with keypad..Version: 0
✓ The Right Idea But.....This would be the ultimate application and is the right idea however there are a lot of things which need to be ironed out. Like it crashes quite frequently which is a major let down and about 50% of the time i found out that I was missing messages on MSN..... ✓ I use it for msn and it works for me BUTMy nickname that others see is very very old and there is no option to change it, which is really annoying because my nick is about harry potter which was a long time ago already. lol. also, its very confusing to use when in a group conversation. i couldn't tell if people were just talking to me or if it was a reply to the group. and if someone else is using the itouch/iphone they only get half the convo as well. otherwise, i quite like this app does the job for me, just a few points for improvement and it would be great..Version: 0
✓ There is a reason why I use IMI use it because it could send files or pics by using msn, aim and yahoo. It's a shame they don't have Skype, in which it's on the paid version but that's ok, I got an app for that. What they don't have is a video chat. THAT's why I kept the Skype app. But all in all, it's a must for anyone that, not only you can chat but to send files and pics. It even has a built in wifi if your friends send you the link but you can't google anything, which stinks though. One thing that I'm giving three stars is that it few times it alert me on whoever chats. But when I'm waiting for another chat of the same person while I'm online, nothing happen. The reason I said that because when I went back to IM, it shows the rest of the chat about three to seven minutes ago. And my friend from the other side was saying, " Hey, are you there? Hello? ✓ More bad problem connectingThis software have the following serious problem 1. If I set "Connect @ startup" to off then when I start the software I will have manually hit the "Online" button to connect. well doing connection this way only worked 1 time out of maybe 30 times. It will pop a message that say 'Connecting" and get stuck there until the iPhone time out and lockup 2. Now if you set the "Connect @ startup" to on then the problem goes away. It will connect almost instantaneously when you start up. Took me 3 days to figure this out. 3. I just figure out something. It will NOT connect on 3G network. It seems to be able to connect slowly on WiFi but absolutely give me connection errors on 3G. Very disappointed. The AIM app connect almost instantaneously. THIS IS A BAD BUG ... ✓ Works OkThis app works well, I haven't had it crash.. but sometimes it won't sign you in. It could also use a facelift; it isn't very nice to look at. Maybe something more clean and simple, that'd suit an apple product better. + the option to hide the friends list in landscape. It's probably the best chat app I've come across though. ✓ Still no.I am tired of giving bad reviews. I have tried each and every Instant Messaging application here, secretly hoping for one that will do VoIP, and this one is another disappointment. This newcomer, IM+, looked like a promising contendor, particularly with the company backing it offering Skype functionality with Voice for the iPhone. I would be willing to pay for that! My expectations were therefore quite high and this was a let-down. Things I noticed: 1) No Skype support - none whatsoever. None. Zero. Zilch. 2) No unicode support - if you are like me, bilingual and occasionally using an alphabet other than latin, forget IM+. Anything other than the latin alphabet, will get you an error. 3) No HTML support - At the very least, shouldn't it strip the HTML from incomming messages if it cannot render it? 4) Crashes - Stability issues. It crashes seemingly at random and for no reason. You don't even need to USE your phone in order for this application to crash! If only it showed as much initiative working as it does crashing, it would have 5 stars! 5) When you select a conversation from your list of conversations, you don't have an arrow back. The Home button is the only way out. For now I am sticking with Palringo. While everyone else tries to come up with a chat program, the guys writing Palringo actually succeed! IM+ has a long road ahead of it before it is ready for use..Version: 0
✓ Please fix.Before the OS 4.0 update, this app was great. Push notifications were working and my display picture from the previous computer I was on would show. Now the picture doesn't show. ✓ Fixed, but...First of all, thanks for listening, and the crash-on-start is now fixed. However, the app still crashes more often than before when I open/close conversations. The landscape mode is really good. Regarding other reviewers talking about using Palringo, I use it ad well. It does have a better interface and it supports smilies. But I have problem with it as well: it fails to display the full message from my friend from time to time. I never had this problem with IM+. So...I'm still on the hunt for the best IM client..Version: 0
✓ BuggyThis app has the potential of being the best messenging app for the iPhone. However the following issues make it totally frustrating and next to useless to use. 1) constantly asking to send my location, making it near useless. Anyone with half a brain is going to question the motive behind this. Apple recently sent out a notice to developers regarding use of location services for marketing purposes, so I hope this isn't one such app they are referring to. 2) often fails to connect to various servers ie- yahoo, ICQ etc, then locks you out of them altogether for many hours 3) further to item 2 above, the corresponding service gets turned off without warning in the accounts section. Turning it back on only results in a failed connection again. Items 2 and 3 seem to be becoming more apparent only in recent times. I am very reluctant to pay $12 for the full app, when such bugs are prevalent in this free version.Version: 0
✓ A good effort consideringWith the limitations imposed by apple at present a decent messaging service was never going to be easy. However I think that by adding the option to stop the phone from locking whilst still dimming the screen would make this more useable. Ontop of this I think the developers should take a look at how the apple SMS application handles text entry and make the text box grow instead of just letting all the text dissapear to the left. As soon as the app push service is introduced this will probably become my number one IM app. If there is anyway to get onto the skype IM servers then I think that should be one of the next priorities. ✓ Usability fine, capabilities now poorThis used to be an essential app for me but unfortunately, in the course of the last two years it's usefulness has been completely eroded. First, Skype functionality was lost due to changes in the service. Last year Facebook changed to prohibit third party chat clients. So we started using Jabber to connect to Facebook. That lasted until a month or two ago when that also ceased to connect to Facebook. Many users have reported this, so I assume Facebook have also closed that access route for third party clients. So that's now all the services I use that IM+ no longer works with. Shape also don't seem to be active on either Twitter or Facebook with any useful information. I regret not being able to use this app any more, as the buddy online notifications were incredibly useful, as was the chat history function..Version: 8.7.2
✓ It has potentialI like the program so far, it has a nice setup but could be more user friendly. The thing I like most about the program is the separate area for the inbox it shows the person whom has contacted you and if you click you can see the message. In the future I'd like to see a customizable, less buggy, more authenticity/aesthetic features/more options. Overall this is a good program is you just want to work with small time messengers. ✓ Glitchy at times but the best multi IM client nonethelessFor some reason it's really difficult to develop a multi IM client that integrates Facebook chat seamlessly. Despite all of the high tech apps which exist, there still remain glitches galore, like buddies not showing up when they are really online, or messages being delivered to Facebook rather than the IM+ window, or when twitter randomly spams your phone even though you have the notifications turned off Also, even when I mute the phone it still plays the sound notification. Not cool. Especially when you're in meetings. Having said that, IM+ is probably the better multi IM client which exists for iOS. Meebo is another cool app but is not nearly as integrative or customizable. I would like to see better Facebook integration (finally and for once), more attractive notification sounds, more stable twitter integration, and fixing the mute/sound problem..Version: 6.1
✓ Am I really the only one with this problem. Nope.Edit: Downloaded the recent update which claims to fix MSN authentication bugs, but I'm still having just as much trouble as before. Still unusable! I downloaded this app with the intention of buying the full version upgrade later on. Unfortunately, the one service I wanted it for isn't working. When trying to create a Windows Live/MSN account I constantly get a error with the reason "msn_location_confirmation". I've scoured Google for answers and also found others having the same problem on the IM+ forums, but so far the support has been minimal. Whether this is a problem on Microsoft's side or the fault of the IM+ devs I don't know, but the fact remains, for some customers this app will be unusable. The most resent update has seen the unit crash without warning and take several minutes to completely load. ✓ Nice Looking, but....Push notifications and sounds for this app don't work on my iPad. This may not be the developer's fault, but still, they're advertising features that aren't available, and, quite frankly, the absence of these features makes the app almost useless to me. Also, when I receive a new message I always have to scroll down to view it. Should be able to switch between ascending/descending thread, or have the thread auto-scroll to a new message. Maybe these issues are addressed in the paid version, but if notifications are supposed to be part of the lite version, who's to say they also don't work in the paid version? ✓ Why did you remove the browser?This is a decent IM app, but there are plenty of those on the App Store already. The one feature this app had that others didn't has recently been removed. This app used to include a web browser so you could browse around the web from within the app itself. For some inexplicable reason, this feature was removed from the app a couple of updates ago and has yet to make a return. You can still open URLs from an IM conversation directly within the app, but you cannot otherwise access the browser and the navigation bar has been removed from the browser making it impossible to use aside from viewing links during an active conversation. And please tell me why won't my contact list load half the time? Actually most of the time. It's a real issue and closing the app, and restarting is not in my interest. ✓ Good starting point, but needs more polish.This application is a good solid foundation. It connects directly to the servers, so you don't need to sign up with an account with the application's developers servers. I prefer that model. The downside is that you're at the mercy of the particular IM's systems to deliver offline messages. Because as soon as you hit the home button, you are signed off. The current version has autocorrect disabled in the typing field. This I find to be highly annoying and will hopefully be fixed in the next release. There are a few crashes here and there, and the occasional connection failure, but overall it seems pretty stable. The app has gotten better since the first release, which is appreciated. The visual polish isn't really there, but the interface is servicable. It's a solid foundation, but for me not yet the perfect IM client..Version: 0
✓ Not quite right!It's a great idea and would be a fantastic app if it did what it said in the discription. For me everything seemed to work when it felt like it I could sign in and get my contacts up and everything but every now and then in the middle of conversations it would shut itself down, not only is this annoying but it shuts down the program and you lose your messages and have to sign in again. ✓ Pretty cool APP. It needs some work though.I've been waiting for a really good Adium type APP for awhile. This one seemed to fit the bill pretty well. It's got a nice interface, but there is a bug that makes it almost not worth kepping. If I'm signed on to AIM on my laptop and then sign on to this I get the system message saying I'm signed on in two places, which is normal. The bug happens when I go to delete this message out of the inbox and go back to my contacts list. Whenever I do this, the APP crashes and deletes all my info. I constantly am having to re-enter my info. I would really like so see buddy icon support as well. I have some friends that I have on both contacts lists. I would at least like to see something that separates the different IM clients. Like, the little yellow man for AIM users and the guy that MSN uses. Other then those few things I have seen, it seems to be a fairly awesome APP. Once those things get added and fixed it would easily be a 5-star APP for me..Version: 0

✓ Last ResortAt first it seemed like a decent application but it turned out to be so far from my initial assumption. It would load my MSN but after that i would not be able to IM anyone as when i clicked on a contact name it would send me back to the main menu. ✓ Good but needs more to justify payingWorks well, a little slow to load but not a big deal. However it really needs an icon to appear when you are talking to someone to let you know they are typing a reply! Also it would be good if you could talk to people with a mic over msn and skype. These features are all available on fring which is free, but I do prefer the layout of IM+ and the way you can tilt the view when typing. ✓ Central 'console' for Facebook, Twitter, Messenger,etcIt's ok but not much more. The design is a bit dated and not particularly intuitive to use - there are better products out there. The adverts are very irritating so I was rapidly encouraged to pay the money to remove them as they seriously interfered with the screen 'real estate' and it was very easy to accidentally follow the advertiser rather than close the banner - extremely irritating. I regret paying the fee as I could use the money on a more polished product. Hopefully the developers will do something to improve the experience but if you're getting the money by the irritating advert ploy then why bother? You can live in hope! Every time I exit the (and I have tweaked all settings) it tells me I have a message but I can't ever read said message. So I have to keep the app open and not do anything If I want to chat to someone. Not what I want from a messaging service at all ty. And it seems nothing has been done to fix it so I'm sorry but I'm heading back to meebo or something now if anyone else is looking for another chat service. ✓ Do not use with a Bluetooth keyboardA lot of apps don't play nice with external Bluetooth keyboards on the iPad, but this one is the worst I've seen. If your Bluetooth connection happens to drop (which happens depressingly often in iOS), IM+ will confiscate your text entry box entirely. The only fix I've found is to completely close and relaunch the app by double-pressing the "home" button to bring up the system tray, hold down on the IM+ icon until the icons for it and your other open apps sprout close-boxes and start to shake, and close IM+ that way. Then reopen IM+. I want to like this app, and originally gave it three stars in spite of this issue, but it's been months now. It doesn't matter that this is still the best free chat app I've seen when the others are completely unusable. This would be an excellent app if you would just clean up the entry box behavior. And for GOD's sake, make the box bigger or, better yet, adjustable. Not everybody who uses chat apps communicates in monosyllabic grunts. Some of us actually conduct business over these things..Version: 4.8

✓ Found a bug...It was working absolutely fine until my friend logged off the 'Contacts Mail Favourites Status' thing at the bottom moved straight up to the top and then when I tried to scroll down it didn't work very well even when I turned my iPhone around the same thing happened. ✓ Please Test UpdatesOld version of IM+ was really good. Fully featured messaging app for free with support for all of the major messaging clients but the 3.4 update is really woeful. Predictive typing has now been disabled making it much more difficult to type quickly and a very annoying notification when you disconnect from the messaging service is really not nessessary. If you are new to this app and have downloaded this version then please do not discard IM+ as being a very competant messaging tool but wait until some of these problems are fixed with the app. The previous version of IM+ was more stable and functional..Version: 0

✓ Pretty decent for a free appGood IM. Works great and it's free! Downside is, you can't see your contacts' display name anymore and get to see their personal message instead (in the older version you can see the display name but not the personal message), it's kind of dumb. This update also drains the iPhone's battery really fast, which is another trade off. Good thing is, you get to see your contacts' display picture now. ✓ My review on Im + free versionIf you want a quick chat it's easy to get up and chat to your mates, it's quick to recieve messages and with sending to. It shows contacts pictures which are a little small but still better than nothing, you have choices for wallpapers and also about your contacts like wheather you show it hide your offline contacts and have a folder to put your favourite people in that's just a click away at the bar at the bottom of the screen. Although it has good points there's always the bad like it's limited of it's sharing, like sending pictures or other documents you might have on you iPhone or iPod touch. Another is the fact you can't add people to your convos and aren't able to talk in big convos, even if others add you into there's, unless you have all of the contacts in your contact list but it's still hard to see what's going on. Over all it's a really useful app to have, and it's free so there's no reason you shouldn't!.Version: 0

✓ Version 1.2 problemsI just got notification that IM+ wanted to upgrade to ver 1.2, so I went through with the steps to upgrade. After the install of the upgrade I restarted IM+ (with the new icon) and it immediately locked up on me. After a few more tries to get IM+ to run, I decided to uninstall it and then redownload it from the App Store and reinstall it. After the reinstall I was able to run the program and get my Yahoo and AIM IDs put in, and it even logged into each service successfully. Good. Next I exited out of IM+ and then went back in to make sure it would load. Nope, it was locked up tighter than a vise, and after about 15 seconds, it booted me out and put me back to the desktop. Gmail logins can be linked to your Google Checkout accounts. You are giving your information to a third party and just hoping it won't be abused. Aside from that, I tried it with an old acct as a test. When it logged me in it showed a dialog with 4 buttons. The first was blank then "allow" "deny" "allo..." what is that supposed to mean?Why is one blank and what is the second allow button for?? I recommend against using any 3rd party IM client due to the risks. Programs could easily be written to log in to your acct and put all your contacts on spam lists... ✓ Please bring back old visual settingsOne of the things I liked about this chat-client is that I could customise the backgrounds, the text, and the brightness. Functionally the program is the same, with a bit more streamlining of the controls. For me though, it has gotten a lot less usable. With the new update, the entire program is black-on-white, like a text document. It's not just a matter of enjoying customising the look; having a bright white screen with thin text is far more likely to tire out my eyes and trigger migraines. I haven't been using my chat program because of this. I used to enjoy looking at my chat program, I had specifically set up an orange theme to make me smile when I opened it. Opening the program now just makes my eyes hurt. I am hoping that this update is a matter of making the program work better with the new OS, and in a few months our visual controls will be restored, but if not I will likely be moving to a new multi-chat client. For usability, IM+ is great. It handles my usual chat programs (minus Skype IM, oddly), it doesn't drop chats unless the problem is on the other end, and it doesn't glitch. ✓ Push??The "push" notifications that are advertised have nothing to do with the push of the iphone. I think it is pretty unfair to try to mislead the users by using the same name of IM+'s alternative notification system as the one used by the iphone OS. The developers should have explicitly said that this is their own version of push and that they currently do not support the iphone 3.0 push. Choosing to include the 3.0 version in the name of the application is itself another attempt to associate their application with the newly released 3.0 version of iphone OS. I don't know how useful the program is otherwise, I deleted it the moment i saw that push notifications are, once again, not supported. ✓ UghhOk so as soon as i got this app i loved it. i loved the way you could have all your instant messaging things on one... aol, msn, yahoo, etc. well about the first hour or so it worked very well and then came the problems. it started freezing my ipod like crazy. i would try to listen to music while i was IMing people and it made my music skip and freeze. every time i would open the app it would shut back down and freeze my ipod for a few minutes. i did this for about a hour and then i was tired of it. i figured if i re-loaded the app on my itouch it would work again. well it did for the first hour and then froze my ipod once again. my friend has the same app and it froze her ipod perminantly. i do not recommend this app to anyone... if you want to IM, go to social networking and look for other instant messaging apps there. i hope apple finds this deffect to this app and fixes it!.Version: 0
✓ Good, but needs improvements.This is a decent app. There's just a few bugs that will hopefully be fixed up really soon. For one, sometimes it doesn't connect. It just keeps loading and loading even if I have a perfect signal strength and wifi. Also, it doesn't like to send notifications a lot. Finally, there is nothing to separate messages between you and the other person, or between the several messages you've sent. I wish there was something to distinguish. Also the chat history doesn't go as far back as the AIM app or IMO would, which would be something nice to have back. However this is a less glitchy app than others. ✓ Scam?I purchased the IM + pro a little while back, and when I tried to re-download recently discovered it was no longer possible, the little cloud icon next to it was greyed out, so I assumed it was no longer being offered, though strange, since they were still offering this one free-to-download version. Come to find out, they’ve come up with a new $5 version, where nowhere I could find, there’s any mention or note as to what the previous clients of their app could go, be assisted in any way, etc. Well this is to warn you that if you purchase their services, they can, at any time, do the same to you, and possibly come out with another pay-to-download, premium version of their services. It’s really not the few bucks, but the fact that there’s no way, without incurring into a time consuming process that doesn’t guarantee any satisfaction, to protest behavior like this.
