Telnet Lite for Negative User Reviews

Not goodI am finding a telnet app, this is the only free app I can find in the app store, it's not working after I download it. I am using 3.0 version..Version: 0

Don't bother, this app did notWork on 3.0 and the developers don't care to fix the issue. Rate 1 to raise their attention. Since many commented this app is not working at all why app store not remove it?!.Version: 0

Great appGreat app - does what it says on the tin. Only annoyance is that you can't switch out of the app, say to look at a password, or copy and paste a command, because when you switch back the connection has been disconnected. Otherwise great for a quick telnet session..Version: 1.9

It's okYou can't see what you're writing which is a pain..Version: 1.7

I should have listened.Oh well. I only downloaded the free version so I didn't lose money - only a little faith in developers who put out stuff that does not work at all. Couldn't even perform one connect. Just crashes. iTunes needs to allow a zero star rating..Version: 0

HorribleThis app crashes every other time I try to use it, and I have NEVER been able to send characters to the remote machine..Version: 2.0

Can not connectConnects to host just fine, but you can't log into the server..Version: 0

RubbishI couldnt get it to connect to anything.Version: 0

2.5 stars, really, as it’s basically half usefulFor what it is, it’s good. But the 5 minutes session timeout and lack of ability to upgrade to the full version and preserve existing settings makes it half what it could be. For short emergency access it is perfect. But for anything more involved, unless you don’t have any full computer anywhere nearby, it’s just easier to logon to a console with a decent keyboard and screen than pay £6 and then painstakingly re-enter your login details ona. touchscreen interface..Version: 4.1

Not real enoughThere was up arrow, tab, or anything that a real telnet app needs. Look elsewhere if you use arrows keys, tab, or other features that are a necessity in telnet.Version: 1.7

Telnet LiteWas an OK telnet client until the 5 minute time limit was introduced. Now it’s virtually useless as an admin tool. Bad move :-(.Version: 4.0

NopeWouldnt connect to any pop servers via telnet on port 110.Version: 2.2

DisappointingLite version lacks esc and function keys which my modem needs. Full version too expensive. Shame.Version: 0

Five minute session limit is a killerThe five minute session limit introduced in the latest update makes this app completely useless. Deinstalling..Version: 3.4

Doesn't work with OS 3Crashes repeatedly when trying to connect to my cisco router. Needs an update because it is unusable now..Version: 0

Newest updateI did the update on the software as it showed up in my Update list and now it does not work properly. if you get the notice to update and your Telnet is working fine>>>DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway to revert to version 2.0?.Version: 2.1

Enter buttonWhere has the enter button gone????.Version: 4.1

Another Mocha ApplicationLots of people have commented on the functionality. I agree. So let me address the support in general for this, or the paid version. Mocha has a history of dumping applications onto the market and then not supporting or updating them. The purchaser is willing to live with the problems because he presumes it will only get better as updates are released. But before long he realizes there aren't going to be any. That's what happened when I bought Mocha VNC for the Mobile Windows platform years ago. And if you look at the release dates of the their iPhone apps, you see the same thing. This app has not been updated in over a year. Really? There is not even the tiniest problem that they could address in the last year to improve functionality for their customers? Now check the release dates for similar apps. My advice it to never buy an app that hasn't been updated in the last six months or year. The iPhone market is still young and growing fast. All developers should still be in a growth phase, trying to polish and expand what they offer. Customers are willing to live with a lack of features or occasional crashes as long as they believe the software will improve over time. This did not happen when I bought Mocha VNC years ago, and I don't see it happening on the iPhone platform either. Look at the release dates for Mocha VNC, Mocha Telnet, Mocha Remote Desktop, TN5250, and TN3270. They are all a year old. No bug fixes or feature enhancements for ANY of their programs in a year? I recommend that in every category, compare to other developers and buy from whoever is actively developing..Version: 0

Loved it... before money grab updateTime limit makes free version useless. Takes away functionality in an update. Uninstalling now..Version: 3.4

Capable emulationAdds Control key to keyboard. Use Control-[ to create <ESC> key for VT100 keyboard emulation (e.g. <ESC>OP for F1 or PF1). Can be used in a pinch for most needs. However its a pain to use the <ENTER> key since it's not available on the keyboard but has to be selected from the app's header section, the same way you select the <Control> key. Should be available via the normal iPhone keyboard. Best used in landscape mode (yes, even for 80 column) since screen can't be resized or moved like in other apps..Version: 0

Once decent; time to get rid of itI used to use Mocha Telnet on a regular basis. When the developers, in their infinite wisdom, decided to make a 5 minute limit on sessions, that was the beginning of the end. Since then, I’ve moved to Termius and found that it does everything that Mocha does, but better. Bye bye!.Version: 4.3

Err...This app does nothing. Literally. If the "lite" version crashes/locks immediately after opening it doesn't really convince me to fork out for the paid version..Version: 0

I disabled auto update because of thisWhen I originally downloaded this app, there were very few limitations, mainly concerning which keys you could press. Then the developer updated the app and changed the limitation: the full keyboard was available, but sessions cannot last longer than five minutes. I held off updating for three months, and would have waited longer had I not accidentally hit the button. It was uninstalled in less than 60 seconds. Sorry, but I’m not allowing that..Version: 3.6

Can’t type and bait/switch issuesKeyboard no longer works, and now I lost the ability of using app for more than five minutes. Those two issues were not there prior to updates..Version: 3.9

Unhelpful developersYou cannot control how received line-endings are handled. I need to connect to an application that sends lf (\n) terminated lines. But, Mocha Telnet Lite (and probably Mocha Telnet) will not insert the cr (\r). This causes the output to "stair-step" down the screen. I wrote the developer and their response was "we don't do that." Well, I don't buy their products. Otherwise, the app does, mostly, what it says. But, the display is crude and the characters hard to read. Too bad there is not a better free telnet app out there, and I don't feel like paying $10 just to find another app with the same problem. I resolved my problem by creating a special account that runs the telnet as its login app, and I connect with ssh..Version: 0

Not worth it.This app used to be good for occasionally connecting via ssh to another host. Now that sessions are limited to 5 minutes, I'll be deleting it. Turns out there are competing apps that do what this app does, for free. UPDATE: Developer updated this app once again to hide all the recent negative reviews. Beware!.Version: 3.3

Not a good choiceI am looking elsewhere. I wanted to use this at work, but it won't even let me enter my log in..Version: 0

Really nice app, but crashes on 3.0Love the app would buy the full except the lite one crashes on me after about 4 mins everytime..Version: 0

Works, but a few flawsWell it works, but the keyboard gets in the way!.Version: 0

Bye!Loyal user until they added the five minute limit. Useless to me now. See you!.Version: 3.4

Just would not let me configureThere is no Done button, so it would not accept my settings..Version: 1.7

Works okWorks tolerably well. However, the Lite version lacks the Esc key, which seriously hampers its use with a lot of Unix software..Version: 1.9

Ruined by small flawGreat app EXCEPT when you use the keyboard it covers the cursor input so you can't see what you're typing. This makes the app virtually impossible to use..Version: 1.5

Backspace - not hard to do but very necessary - never mindDeleted.Version: 2.2

Not for SSHThis is a useless app for SSH..Version: 0

It's not the best choiceIf you want a terminal that has hundreds of libs. And a telnet cliet that actually works. Jailbrake and get that and istall the telnet package. Oh and it actually works.. And this one doesn't. Work even let me input my commands..Version: 0

Doesn't workSimply does not work. You connect to a host and do not get proper prompts to log in as you do in terminal, so it's worthless..Version: 0

A bit too liteI've tried talking to an SMTP server with this but it appears that the enter button only sends a CR which is not useful. I may try this with a telnet server once I have checked one out from a past OpenBSD source tree. (three stars due to assumption that it works well when talking to a telnet daemon)..Version: 0

Barely usableText entry is very slow and the keyboard animations are very laggy, if this were fixed this app would be so much better. A separate input line would be nice, as would ANSI color support..Version: 1.9

Worse with every updateI first started using this app years ago on an iPhone 4. It worked great, scanned quickly, didn’t have a 5 minute limitation on the free version, and did everything I needed it to do. After upgrading phones and getting the updated app, I noticed that each update is making the app worse. The scanning feature deteriorated to a point where it takes forever to properly find a barcode. Why would they update an app that would make a newer phone harder to use than an iPhone 4? The most recent update moved the enter button and replaced it with a second, useless keyboard button. Years ago I contacted the developers about issues I had with scanning after an update and they basically said they didn’t care. If the scanner worked like it should and the developers didn’t continue making the product worse with each update, I would happily spend the $5 to upgrade to the unlimited version, but until that happens, I guess I’ll just reconnect every 5 minutes. If there was another app option, I would use it in a heartbeat..Version: 4.1

One star because there is no option for a zeroWhat muppet decided to do away with the enter button, a perfectly good app is no bloody useless.Version: 4.1

Hard to useIt's pretty terrible that the return button is at the top of the screen. It really needs to be switched with the done button..Version: 2.6

TelnetNot impressed so far - screen is garbled.Version: 2.0

Won't even startI haven't been able to get past the connect screen. It's just frozen. I have updated to 3.0. So maybe it's not compatible? Either why I give it the lowest rating for not even starting. Update please!!!.Version: 0

No tab, control keys = distinct nonstarterSince this lacks a tab key, I cannot use it with TinyFugue, which requires tabs to paginate. Likewise, I can't issue control commands without control keys. Without such vital keys, I have a hard time seeing what use a telnet app could possibly be..Version: 0

5 minutes limit has killed the appIntroducing the time limit has been a horrible idea. No matter if you reset the ratings on the App Store hoping to get people to download it..Version: 3.6

Keyboard covers input line!If keyboard is up, the bottom of the telnet window is covered by the keyboard. U can't move the telnet window up far enough to see what u r typing. Not good for BBSs..Version: 0

Once great, now useless****WARNING - this will quit your sessions every five minutes.*** Don't bother. I was a happy Mocha user for years, and this "update" was foisted on me without warning. I will never buy a Mocha product, and will actively celebrate their demise..Version: 3.5
