✓ Do NOT sync with iCloud!!Upon installation today on iPhone 5s with iOS 12.0.1 I chose "save to iCloud" (or similar message) and when I later checked my iCloud folders EVERYTHING was deleted! The was only a folder named "TextEditor" and all my data was gone, 6Gb worth of files. Fortunately it seems they have all been recovered from the recycling bin..JM 1838448Version: 11.5

✓ Text Editor vs NotesThis Text Editor app is much better than Notes. Many fonts, color and sizing all on the fly. It’s not MS Word, but can still crank out a decent note or email file. Importing, sharing and printing files all easily done. The only feature I did miss was the File Locking that was in Notes. This is easily 5 stars, but I just upgraded Their Documents app. Just started to set it up when I was hijacked to do a review NOW? So it’s 3 stars until I can use it for importing, editing and saving at least 3 or 4 files. If anything like your older app, great! ✓ Better than iOS TextEditSomehow I deleted my iOS TextEdit, and picked this up to replace it. Lucky stroke. A much more sophisticated editor, Still learning its feature set. What I have always wanted still doesn’t seem to exist… A draft writing tool so intuitive that you don’t have to learn how to mark, select, use it features. I still get frustrated on my iPad touching the screen and having various things happen unexpectedly. Creative writing is a very simple process requiring very few main tools. My favorite of all time is still WriteNow, Which I miss. I never went to the web, never use the help file, never needed to ask anyone else a question. It was so simple, so useful, and so easy to learn and use. The only thing a TextEditor is for is getting the writing on the pageAnd performing basic editing functions… Deleting, moving, pasting, formatting. ✓ No Sorting FeaturesI couldn’t even try to use the app because I couldn’t find the files I needed. I need a text editor to use with Dropbox and although you can access the files, there is no sorting options (alphabetical, by date, etc.) . ✓ Bit of a waste of time trying to figure this outIf I can’t save to PDF (it does provide a ‘save as’ option, but there’s nothing but ‘save’ as an option once you click on it.) its of no real use to me. Pity. And it’s a bit of a non-intuitive bear. No tab stops, can’t even fake an indent with the space bar. I eventually figured out that if I copied what I imported and opened the copy as a new doc, I could type on it, but it took me a long time to figure that out. But anyways, I love the extremely large variety of fonts compared to other apps like Just Write, but it’s a bit difficult to switch between fonts. ✓ Beware of lost data and bugs!The app developer is so insistent on getting a 5 Star review that it literally forces you in-app to choose how many stars you rate it. The worst part is that the developer’s coding is so bug-ridden that you even after you rate it, you can’t get the prompt to disappear off the screen. Only after you close the app (and lose all your work on the current document) are you able to use the app again. I’d like my 2 hours of work back. Downloader beware!.AlexredheadVersion: 11

✓ Lost dataThe worst app because it asked me to rate it before I could use it. Basically typed three words and it did exactly what I needed. I could save it as plain text format and everything. I lost what I was typing because they triggered me to review their app before I could hit save. I know it was only three words but now I find this app useless because I was trying to find something where I could just type notes. ✓ No search abilityA basic capability that I have seen in all simple text editors/readers I have used on desktop computers is the ability to search for a string of text. How hard can it be when it has been a basic programming exercise in all programming classes for DECADES?! How can you call this a competent app when it can’t even do a text search? It is something that is frequently needed during a review of a long text. This seems to be a common problem in almost every basic iOS text editor app I have seen. So I have had to resort to using the default free Apple Pages app, which is sufficient for me for now. ✓ Makes no senseWell, I thought I’d finally found an app that would let me edit the text files I have saved on Dropbox, but unfortunately this app just makes no sense at all. First of all, huge folders from Rockbox or not presented in any kind of order so you have to have to scroll through a list and hundreds of items to find what you want, then you “download” it, end it tells you it’s “downloaded“, but there’s no way to edit it. I look in my local folder and the downloaded file isn’t there. I and if you do open a file from the local folder, there’s no way to edit it, or close it, or do anything other than read it, until you quit the app. You can’t even close it and go to another file, you’re stuck with it until you quit. Adding to the confusion, every three seconds it asks you to install a PDF app. This app doesn’t appear to be doing anything useful at all, it doesn’t seem to be finished. ✓ Lost ContentI downloaded this app this morning and it seemed quite promising. On first opening the app it asked if i want to store documents Locally or iCloud. I chose iCloud because i use multiple devices. I then spent an hour working on a document and when i returned to the document later that day all of the content from my document was lost. ✓ Worst App I Have Ever UsedI’m not usually the type of person to write a review but I felt that this app deserved it more than any other I have used in my 12 years using iPhones. It is without a doubt the least intuitive and least friendly text editing app I have encountered. Nothing behaves as a good citizen of the platform, the UI is clunky and unintuitive and it does no respect basic iOS conventions regarding sharing or handling of files. No, I will not give you access to my google drive account to add files, USE THE APIS PROVIDED TO DO THIS. Had I been capable of reviewing this app with a zero-star rating I would have. ✓ FrustratingA useful text editor but saving files is an infuriating process. You have to come out of the editor then look for the file on on the iPad’s filer app to see where it’s gone. If you cannot find it it’s probably in an area called ‘local’ which filer cannot see. You have to move it into iCloud then search for it again. Then you can save it where you want it to go. Next time you save a file it will probably go to that location whether you want it to or not. I have found it impossible to save to a particular folder first time. If I use ‘save as’ I want to define both the name of the file and the folder to save in. To be useful to me, this app needs to integrate seamlessly with TextEdit on the Mac, and it doesn't..ClichoidsVersion: 11.5
