SightWords Pro for Positive User Reviews

Great App, has made homework a much more pleasant taskMy 6 year old enjoys using the app to learn her sight words. I love that the lists are customisable. We add new words as her teacher gives them to her. We use the flags to mark words she doesn't know and the stars for new words; sometimes we only go through these words. Also love the ability to record over the original recordings as some of the American pronunciations confused my little Aussie! A great app.Version: 4.0.2

Almost perfectI LOVE this app! I work with children and use it daily. I would to see one change. I use it with multiple kids and they are all at different levels. I would like to see multiple player accounts. This would be FANTASTIC!!! We also use teach me kindergarten and teach me 1st grade..Version: 3.0

My eldest son loves this! He's in Kindergarten and loves this, just another great way of teaching kids nowadays. Awsome that there are so many ways to teach kids how to read. Little brother and sis are catching on too. Will get the next sight words once oldest has mastered this one..Version: 0

I love sight, words proOne thing that I would love to see implemented is the ability to use text to speech. So you don’t have to record the words individually you could just have Siri say the words. That way you could have Siri pronounce the words for you, which would speed up learning. So hope text to speech or Siri integration could be added. Thanks.Version: 4.3

Absolutely love this app!My son (5) and I use this together all the time -- this is by far our favorite way to practice words. He can use the app on his own as well and know how he is doing with the great voice recordings of all the words. Two reasons why this isn't a 5-star app for me: - While the shake feature is great, I want to be able to turn it off!!! We find ourselves half way through large lists and then accidentally bump the iPad... - We love the stars and the flags. I'd also like to be able to limit to words in our list (especially helpful for large lists) to those without a star or a flag. Overall, excellent app. Tons of great features and easy enough for my son to work himself..Version: 4.0.2

A must have for every parentI spend 8-10 hours developing curriculum for my son to supplement that which he is not receiving at school no thanks to NCLB. I've been doing similar on my own..this saves me scads of work and that it is in his iPad and my iPhone makes it easy to run thru a set "snack learning".Version: 3.0

Fantastic App!I'm so glad to find a sight word app that is customizable. We are working on going paperless as much as possible and this replaces tons of tiny flash cards! I love the fact that I was able to take the list sent home forms school and create that list here. No more looking for the flash cards! We can do this together or he can practice alone. A little bit of both is perfect for us. Some list app either don't read the words or don't give the child a chance to say the word. This list gives them as much time as they need because they just press the word when they want to here it spoken. You can even record your own voice if you prefer your child to hear you instead of the preprogrammed voice! Another bonus is the stars and flags allow me to note mastered and words he's struggling with. We flip back and forth between the list types and it allows me to sneak in extra practice where it's needed..Version: 4.0.2

Simple but functionalGot this app to use with my first grader. There were a lot of other options, several more playful, but this won. First, many of the other apps were way more expensive. Second, this had way more word lists— dolch, fry, uk, au, legacy, and more. It was by far the most comprehensive I saw. I have a few other apps that function more as games, this one is simple mastery. It works, and I am very happy with it..Version: 4.3

A must have appI use this app with my 5 and 6 year old, and I love it. It provides word lists by grade level as well as by topic (colors, nouns, numbers, etc.) you can also email and edit the word lists for students to use outside of the app if they need to. Very versatile app for parents and teachers..Version: 4.0.1

Awesome!I have used this in my prep class for the last 12 months and I believe it has contributed to so many of our kids learning their 200 magic words. The thing I love the most is the ability to shuffle the order by shaking. No more memorising lists in order! Kids can also practise without adult support as they can touch the word for instant feedback. Lists can be merged or customised creating an entirely personalised learning experience for my kids. You can even add digraphs etc and record the sound they make so its not limited to words!! $2 very well spent..Version: 4.0.2

Well Worth The MoneyI’m not one to leave reviews on apps, and with the very small number of reviews, and many laps of the Sun ago, I thought my review (hopefully), will be of benefit to parents and educators looking for a great app such as this. Looked high and low for a simple app for sight words. Every country, state and school has its own curriculum for sight words so I found it particularly great that I could make my own lists, add my own words (including the AU English spelling), and could add my own speech/voice so that the word also reflected the pronounciation in our dialect/accent. $1.49 we’ll spent!.Version: 4.3

Nice app!I really love this app and can't wait to use it on my iPad with my students. I can already invasion it's multiple uses. I would like to see more font choices and a way to save customized lists. Then it gets 5 stars! The upgrade to the pro version was well worth it for just 99¢, it included so many words!.Version: 2.1

Excellent tool for site word recognitionWe use this app every day. I can create my own site word list and load it as flash cards. It allows you to mark the words he has trouble with and enables you to repeat only those words. My son is 4 and this is an excellent tool to teach the common site words..Version: 4.0.1

Where have you been all my life!?Love love love this app. My boy is in year 1.. I wish I knew this app existed last year. Love that you can load custom lists that the teachers give you. Highly recommend..Version: 4.3

I Looove it!Finally a smart game! My little ones love to play with my iphone, and now they can learn to recognize the words too!!! A++++.Version: 0

1st step to readingThis app really helps track knowledge of sight words. The setup gives many options. There is ability to work on multiple lists. Speaking of words is very precise and clear. Of 6 sight word apps we have, this is the one we use most often by far..Version: 4.0

Love itIt is exactly what I was looking for!.Version: 3.0

FinallyPerfect for all ages! 2 year old sight reading and using for 5 year old vocab. thank you!!.Version: 4.0

Straight-forward & very helpful!Although this app has simple graphics, it has been a great tool for my son to learn his sight words (which are difficult because they are often not easily "sounded out!") We make a game out of it by trying to get 10 right in a row and he has made a lot of progress with the sight words he had trouble with before. In the first 10 minutes of our simple game, he learned 5 new dolch sight words and are now looking forward to the next set of dolch words! Couldn't be happier with this purchase!.Version: 0

Finally, a solution for my word blindness (alexia)I am a published author. I was able to write my five star book only through dictating word by word, and listening to my text as I wrote it. I am word blind after a brain injury. My goal after publishing my five star memoir has been to regain my reading skill. Words cannot explain my gratitude. This method combines mind, eyes and hearing practices. After years of trying to find a program that would help me, I Finally stumbled upon this one, and it works for me! Janna Wagner, author of “Quadruplets, a love story.”.Version: 4.3

Love this appI use this with my students daily!!!.Version: 4.2

Great App!!My 6 year old daughter is loving this app and enjoys using the app rather than a word ring with more than 150 flash cards on it! I do wish that when you 'bump' word lists with another phone (my husbands for example) that the stars and flags also bumped, as she then has to start over on that part. But do really like this app! Thank you.Version: 4.0.2

Fantastic App.. Highly recommend to all kids even the bigger ones.Fantastic App.. Highly recommend to all kids even the bigger ones. This has really helped my 6 year old with learning high frequency words. Well done...Version: 4.0.1

SightWords ProThank you for another great app.. I have purchased 4 of your apps and love them all.. I would like to see you add pale colours for the background.. I find it much easier on the eyes... Cheers and keep up the great work.... PS... I would love to see you make an app for building sentences using the same sight words... with the added ability to create your own sentences (3 - 6 words), with a recording option... :-) Cheers!!.Version: 4.0.2

Great appEasy to create cards from high frequency lists. Nice pronunciation with an annoying voice. Simple to use. Kids can practice independently with the speaking on or practice with an adult. I took off 1 star because I would like to create multiple lists. I hope that they upgrade soon to multiple lists. It will randomize the color so the card is not the same color every time. With my sons real cards, he was learning to read them using the color as a cue. It was great at first but I needed to take him to the next level. Overall, my son enjoys it. I love it..Version: 2.1

My students love it!I'm a Special Education Teacher. I've been using this app and Sight Words 2 and Sight Words 3 with my students for about a year. It's simple, and perfect for them to review their sight words by themselves. I'm just living dangerous by letting them handle my iPhone, which they can't believe their good fortune that I'm letting them touch it. I'm not sure whose most frequent word list of the English language the developers are using. I'd love the rest of the 1,000 most frequently used words composed by Dr. Fry..Version: 0

Sight WordsLove, love, love this app! As a reading teacher I would recommend this app to teachers, parents and grandparents! My grand children ages 3-7 love using this app. I loaded it with their level and they like getting stars after they master words!.Version: 4.2

Awesome!I love this game!.Version: 3.0

Good, close to greatGood app for learning sight words. It would be nice to be able to name the custom word lists so that we can keep track of where it comes from. Daniel likes it and tries to improve so that he doesn't get flags or so that he removes a flag. Star words for instant recognition is a good idea..Version: 4.0.2

This appLove this app has help my daughter go above and beyond in her class and reading level is literally off the charts thanks worth it go threw and instal the extra words.Version: 4.3

Could be betterA quiz (spelling test) option would make this app a five star..Version: 4.0.2

This is the one!I have not found a better word list app! I have bought many and this one has the most word complete word list I have seen and it is the easiest to edit. The only bad review that is accurate is randomization. I saw one that said "words to eAsy" ? What there are over 2000 words and you can make your own list. Hands down the best word lost app..Version: 4.0

Great app, just what I was afterI wanted an app that I could use to help my daughter learn her 'Magic 100 Words' (M100W as taught in Victorian primary schools). This was perfect for my requirements, all words are there and in selectable lists. You can display them in order, randomise the list and combine lists (good for reviewing the earlier words as they move on to the next level) It shows the word, and when you click on the word it reads it aloud. Great functionality and my daughter loves it. Also good support, I got answers to my questions the same day. Very highly recommended..Version: 4.2

Random order?Add a random order view feature please. I have a custom list that I show to my kindergarten class, but it is in order. Random order option please!.Version: 4.0

Love how many words are in this app!I've seen the kids' confidence rise using this app. I would definitely recommend..Version: 3.0

Simple and directGo get this app!.Version: 4.3

Delivers as expectedAgree with prior reviewer in that some pronunciations are bad. However, if you are trying to teach a five year old to read, it's a handy, unintimidating tool..Version: 0
