✓ American Heritage "Deluxe"= something missing?For all the size in megabytes, this is missing the main quality of an Unabridged Dictionary: Nothing Left Out. Within 5 minutes of opening it, I'd found several words that are missing from the American Heritage Deluxe, but ARE in the more compact (= less room on your phone) Shorter Oxford. I haven't tested this against the Webster's Unabridged, but the Webster's and the Oxford have always seemed equal but different in UI. The Oxford is more money, but I think the Webster's is about the same as this. I'm an English major, and I love words and dictionaries---but I think I blew 30 bucks on this one, without getting what I paid for. Poorly Done..AlwaysmprestVersion: 3.5.2

✓ 3.9.1 update breaks app - now completely uselessThis has been one of my favorite apps and I use it frequently. It has always been reliable and bug-free ... until 3.9.1. Now every time I tap on a word for its definition, the app crashes and exits me to the home screen, making the app completely useless. (iOS 5.0.1, iPhone 4S). Deleting and re-downloading/installing didn't help. I had to revert to the previous version, using Time Machine to recover the old version and then Restoring my iPhone to get functionality (and my dozens of bookmarked words) back. Before all that, I tried upgrading to ADH 5 but after downloading the app per the Enfour website instructions, launching that app also leads to a crash almost immediately. So there is no version of ADH that works now. Let's get with the game here, Enfour! Didn't you test these two apps before releasing them? Once these bugs have been worked out, this app will deserve 5 starts. But right now it's nonfunctional. Like another reviewer wrote, I also look forward to "ADH 5 Deluxe" after Roget's thesaurus has been added..Lamenting Lexicon LoverVersion: 3.9.1

✓ Do not purchaseI paid $16+ a few days ago for this app. It worked fine for a couple of days but now when I open it it shows the message “Total Failure” then redirects to the App Store where other versions of the dictionary are available that require “In app purchases.” This is a bait & switch and dishonest..RogerB299Version: 13.3.2

✓ Massive waste of moneyIve got many dictionary apps and i wanted to go deeper so i forked out a massive 18 quid for this hyped up badly laid out 'dictionary' the dictionarys for 1 pound price are actually better at explaining the word have far more easier to reach thesaurus's and this has zero etymology!!!! i got stung!!! ✓ Update Broke AppI first refused to upgrade until they offered a deluxe version that includes dictionary & thesaurus together like I currently have. Also, because the developers made it incredibly difficult to upgrade with the promised discount, according to reviews. The updates were failing to do what they promised in helping with the discounted upgrade. With the recent update the program immediately crashes upon launch. ✓ Not honestI bought this years back at a considerable cost (39.9$) and couple of years later they stopped updating in App Store. As a result all the dictionaries by Enfour, of which I actually bought quite a few, stopped working on new iOS. Then they would start selling the same title at a higher price. So, as a verified buyer, before you decide to buy, think twice. BTW, they do have a tech support: it’s one man shop I guess. just received an answer from the developer claiming they have regularly updated their products. I pulled back one of the titles I bought Rogets II Thesaurus, and as of now it requires an update which is not available unless you buy it again @$6.99. ( I wish I could upload the screenshot to this rating) My American Heritage deluxe version stopped working at least 3years ago due to its lack of update and ergo incompatibility with the new iOS. So i stand by my claim and urge buyers be aware of Enfour products: they are expensive, they don’t update forcing you to buy a new version and yes, their tech support is one man show at least in the past few years..Dapi-dapiVersion: 13.1

✓ Avoid this appBecause my previous review was deleted due to alleged TOS violations, I'd like to reword it. This app has a built-in anti-piracy mechanism which posts, without the user's consent, with their Twitter account, "outing" them as a software pirate. This system recently had a bug which caused this system to spring into action for paying customers like myself, which also, for a time, rendered the app useless until the "bug" was fixed. ✓ Please fix soon!Sorry, Enfour, but this, my longtime pride & joy app, won't open at all w/o crashing after the title page load on my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1. I'm eager to upgrade to ADH5, so please fix this before removing the coupon therein for ADH5. And do I understand that the same cross-referencing functionality with Roget's will be updated into ADH5 soon at no extra (or at least discounted) cost for those of us who cherish this dual Duke of References? ✓ Biased definitionsI'm very disappointed in this purchase. I have found actually left leaning bias in definitions. Outrageous! The definition of political "left" is almost glowing in positive sentiment. The definition of political "right" has a negative sentiment. The intellectual quality is surprisingly low. I have been a fan of the big book since 1971 but what happened to this digital version. Sometimes I actually have to go to the free "dictionary" app to get better definitions. ✓ Most annoying update timesI have been very happy with the dictionary but...every time it is updated the whole dictionary is downloaded again. Because it is a large program, the result is that my Touch and iPad are unavailable to me for well over half an hour, sometimes a whole hour. ✓ Sends out bogus piracy notice to your TwitterI had used this app for years and was pretty fond of it. Then, as others have noticed, it went rogue. It asked for access to my Twitter feed, which I denied repeatedly, but then it would crash. So I figured it wanted to connect to my Twitter so I could tweet definitions or something. Instead, it sent out a tweet without notice or approval, saying that I had pirated the software. I paid for this app years ago. ✓ DO NOT BUY - THIS IS A RIP OFF!!!My excitement over purchasing this program turned to disgust after I started using it and found it to operate no better than any other program designed to do the same. I especially wanted this program because I thought it would use speech synthesis to vocalize the pronunciation of words. To my shock, I could find only one word with a speech activation button but it did nothing. After searching dozens of words, I have never seen this button pop up or being displayed again. ✓ ARGH!Why does the American Heritage application have a button near the "x" delete button? It makes for difficult deletes. PLEASE remove the giant "D" and "T" button someplace less intrusive. They also sell this as an illustrated dictionary but there are very few illustrations here.
