SimpleMind - Mind Mapping for Negative User Reviews

Don’t upgrade From the free app versionI’ve purchased the pro version on my Mac and it works great! I downloaded the free version for the iPhone to see if it would a effect the readability of the mind maps on the made on the Mac. I was happy with the results and decided to upgrade to the “pro version” inside of the free App, although the App Store recognised I purchased the “pro version” the App is still the free version and keeps asking to upgrade to the “pro version” I’ve reset the phone, deleted and reinstalled the “upgraded” free version but no joy. If you know you want this app after trialling the free version buy the pro version directly from the App Store and DO NOT upgrade to it from inside the free version!.Version: 1.32.1

Good but the PC version is very expensiveI like the app and it functions reasonably well. As good as I would expect and need it to anyway. I would love to be able to work on maps on both my iPhone/iPad and my computer but unfortunately I'm stuck using the iPhone because the PC version of the application is pretty pricy. I had messaged them to see if I could get a discount given I had purchased the iOS version already but no:(.Version: 1.15

Scam for moneyEven though the app says it’s free the amount of purchases needed for features is way to much..Version: 1.23.0

Frustrating navigationI bought both the Mac and iOS versions for the promise of seamless cloud access regardless of my location. That should make me SimpleMind’s ideal target customer. Yet, EVERY TIME I open the iOS app, I am presented the Local folder and have to manually navigate back to my Dropbox folder to find my mind maps. WHY? Why can’t the app remember the last location I opened maps from, or saved them to, and startup in that file location?.Version: 1.23.2

This app is terribleWhere do I start? If you get the desktop trial version and forget to save your maps as PDF's during the trial period, those maps will be gone unless you pay the company approx. $28 for the full version to get them back. That bait in a nutshell speaks volumes about the lack of integrity of this company. Secondly, simple operations as synching your maps throughout your platforms, which many other apps as Wunderlist offer for free!, do not exist here. Their tutorials -the ones in video as well as the ones in writing- are incredibly confusing (they desperate need to hire somebody good at communicating). Operations as saving your maps in your drive can't be performed and you'll find yourself unable to open your maps afterwards. During the process of mapping in the pro version, I noticed that the programmers are trying to add too many variables in a very erratic and chaotic way, instead of using their energy in making the program more user friendly. In other words, this app is a huge headache. Please do yourself a favor and do not waste your money here! By the way, this may be the first bad review I've ever written. They really drove me through the wall. lol.Version: 1.20.0

ComplicatedThis was a good attempt but what I don't like about it is I find it complicated to use and the fact that you have to pay to have more access is ridiculous..Version: 1.19.0

Jennie HaqueThis app allows users to create mind maps using vivid colors. The app has various styles for users to chose from. The screenshot of my work includes a mind map about empathy. This is an important topic because as an educator, I want my non-disabled students to understand perspectives of my students that have disabilities. This empathy map can be presented as an anchor chart in the classroom that will help students visualize the information. Students can come up with different ways in order to understand perspectives. In the mind map that I created, it refers to the environment, nonverbal cues, and feelings that we can observe to help us navigate relationships. One of the ways we can be empathetic is by reading social stories. Students can read these as well to gain perspectives..Version: 1.29.0

Don't bother reading what it does because it's a pack of liesDon't pay a cent to upgrade because you won't get what the developer says you get. When I complained, I got an email back telling me that the functionality that you get was on the developers web site. Who would think to check there first. Also if you want to send a mind map back and forth to a desktop version you have to upgrade that as well - and that is big dollars. Just don't bother. Try another app..Version: 1.6.0

App has gone seriously downhill over the last few "upgrades"It's too bad. This used to be a great app and I used to recommend it. But with the last few upgrades it's now become less usable and mind maps can become unresponsive boat anchors. Time to start shopping for a new mind mapping app... Bye!.Version: 2.0.1

ConfusingReally I don't understand why it must have two version simplemind+ and simplemind pro. Just make confusing. Before, I thought that simplemind+ is free version. Therefore I bought simplemind pro. Later I recognized that in my ipad I already had simplemind+, and actually I already bought in app purchase, so it has full functionality. How silly....buy the same think twice. I just feel tricked. Later, I also found simplemind (legacy). One app, but has three same version??? So silly.... I will never rate five stars, if there are still multiple app for one app..Version: 1.14

HorribleThe free version doesn’t allow you to even export your work so you have to screenshot it if you want to send it to someone..Version: 1.24.0

Half way to a solutionI am new to mind mapping and find this pretty useful but I find myself thinking it doesn't do all I would expect. It is quick and easy to use, emails well and looks ok. What else I would have liked. The ability to group and move multiple points together. I.e. If my map becomes too crowded I want to move a head node and the ones below to follow or at least be able to do that some of the time. Flex lines. The existing ones a good most of the time but I would like to be able to adjust them when necessary. This is especially true when drawing connections. An ability to group sections either with a free hand drawer or using clouds or other built in shapes The ability to create another mind map from a node in a existing. I.e. If it's getting too large and I want to expand an idea I want to be able to tap somehow that creates another mind Map with that node at the center and any dependents come with it. This would be even better if a link of some kind was left in the old map. Generally I would like to free draw if necessary. I use mind maps to let myself be flexible sometimes this will require going outside the built in functions. As I have said this does basic well but could stretch to be better. Maybe some of these ideas will be picked up by the developer and I'll end up with the ap I hoped this would be..Version: 1.5.5

They try to keep raking moneyI bought this app but it has few functions and ask me to upgrade and buy another one. Why do they make these stuffs??? If they once sell product they should take responsibility for it. Why do they ask another upgrade???? Don’t buy this app and use another app!!! I really got mad of this app..Version: 1.22.0

Refund pleaseCant recognise google drive and this is the only reason why i bought it Please refund.Version: 1.23.0

Cross LinksThe app seems to be alright but I was really hoping to be able to use cross links, I’ve looked up how to do it but it isn’t working for me and I’m not sure why. The video with this free version of the app does it so how come I can’t? Please fix this.Version: 1.28.2

Good but needs better cloud supportI have the windows version - very powerful. I save my maps on OneDrive. So I would expect that the iPad version to also be able to use OneDrive. But it can’t. That’s really annoying. I can’t edit the maps I create on windows on the IPad. Surely this would be an easy fix..Version: 1.22.0

Weird and boring I guess I will keep it😳😳😳Yea what ever.Version: 1.20.2

Mind the cunning in App purchaseI downloaded the free simple mind app and as I couldn’t really test anything (very limited functionality) I intended to ‘upgrade’ to simplemind pro. It was actually convenient as you can push the in app purchase icon, pay the money - and screwed you are. It turned out to be NOT the pro version but something in between - which is not mentioned in eitherApp Store nor the app designers web page. Apple (screw you) kindly declined to re-imburse the money so that I could purchase the pro version. So, for all of you; ‘be careful’ don’t use the in app purchase as this will not get you the pro version. Well, perhaps you all know this already and I am just to stupid or the Apple sales department is to cunning..Version: 1.27.0

Bought to laptop Pro version and….It doesn’t include the iPad version?? So now whatever I do on the laptop (which was around $60) doesn’t sync to here… that would have been nice to know prior to purchasing….Version: 2.0.1

Not goodYou can't even send it by email or convert into pdf format if you don't pay..Version: 1.18.0

Simple colourful toolAllows the addition and deletion of nodes. Can drag a node onto another node to change the link. Has several colour themes. No ability to customize / format nodes..Version: 0

Keeps freezingAfter a few seconds from launch of a map it will freeze every time and become unusable.Version: 1.27.1

Brilliant, but with a glaring oversightBrilliant mind-map software. In fact, it’s the best one I’ve found with all the features I wanted. There’s a small learning curve, but once you figure things out, it’s very easy to use. My one gripe is the save features. Why is there no ability to save to iCloud? All iOS apps have this ability now, and surely it wouldn’t be too hard to add it. Well, okay, I have a Dropbox, so it’s not a deal breaker. I save to there instead. But then, why is there no autosave feature? This is a very common feature these days, and I think every other app I use now has it. If you don’t manually remember to save and synchronise your work, you lose it all. So, if you forget, or if the app force closes, or there’s a problem with your tablet or phone, you will lose your work. I’m not particularly lazy, and I don’t mind having to manually press the save the button every five minutes—no matter how annoying I find it—but this lack of provision for possible problems and unforeseen events is why I have given this app 3 stars, even though I love it..Version: 1.23.0

Don’t buy the mobile versionAdding a new topic in between topics is impossible for iPhone version. I don’t understand why this very basic and fundamental feature of this app is omitted from the mobile app version although the feature is available in all other versions including iPad, PC and Mac. CSR (Linda) told me that the feature is removed because menus are smaller (in iPhone) and there is less room for all options. But hey, you should provide, at least, an alternative way to add this feature rather than just completely remove the feature that exists in all other platforms..Version: 1.23.0

Amazing app terrible supportI love this app and have purchased the pro version however everytime I upgrade my phone etc or if I get logged out of icloud it makes me repurchase it and I lose all my work I have purchased it so many times and the support team either never response or just say tough upgrade again it’s such a pity because it’s a fab app.Version: 1.31.0

Worst App EverThis application was a chore to figure out. Never have I ever had a more difficult time using a mind mapping software. Most other software will allow you at least the function the download it. Or make a link to your project, but this application had to make that even difficult. Worst of all copying and pasting was a cryptic and unnecessary chore that shouldn’t have been. I highly suggest anyone that is trying to find a good or even decent mind mapping software to look elsewhere because this application is not the one you are looking for..Version: 1.21.0

Best of a bad bunchI've tried loads of mind mapping /visual thinking tools (and there are millions) but on the whole they are all weak. My favourite was Inspiration but they discounted their MacOS variation so interoperability was lost. Perhaps because these tools are so "obvious" they all reflect their creators idea of what is needed more than the users. So I've paid for Simple Mind and will continue using it until I can find something better.Version: 1.29.1

Keeps freezingReally like the idea behind this. Easy to use. But it keeps freezing. Not able to write or create new boxes. Frustrating as keep having to close and then re-open..Version: 1.25.1

Love the idea but...I'm a big fan of mind mapping and this provides a great solution for getting things out of my head. I think that it's too expensive for a desktop program and I prefer a bigger size when brainstorming. Using the app is great for drafts and on the fly ideas but I've experienced a program that converts maps to written documents and PDFs for sharing and I would want that type of functionality here....Version: 1.6.9

No Text justification options and no export to MarkdownThis would be a fantastic app - I’ve been searching for something responsive, scalable, cross-platform and that you can buy with one purchase. Your app ticks a lot of boxes. I’d love to be able to have Markdown export (should be really straight forward to implement, especially since you have HTML), and text justification (i want to be able to write nodes aligned to the right/ left, but all nodes’ text is centre aligned). Also, another really good thing would be keyboard shortcuts to be able to fold/ unfold the mind map at different levels of complexity/ detail..Version: 1.31.0

Great but some big problemsThe app and its functionality is great. The cloud component is absolutely infuriating! Moving your maps that you spent hours on and realising that you can’t move to to a device because the file system is broken is such a letdown. There is no native integration with iCloud or even Files. Please please sort it out, I just bought the premium add on..Version: 1.31.0

Great App Ruined By No Save FeatureThis is one of the best mind mapping apps I have used. Unfortunately it ruined by the fact, that even if you have the paid version there is no support for iCloud. It also appears that you are unable to back up your work in the free version. Although it saves on the iPad there is no way to back the hours of work you could have put in to a map, in the event of a problem with your tablet. I love Apple products and I have an iCloud account why would I then want Dropbox or google drive. I believe the concept of backing your work should be in the most basic of apps otherwise why would you use them. This app deserves 5*’s but because of the lack of the features listed above I can only give it 3. I will be removing the app and going back to Coggle I am a law student and do not have the inclination or time to keep repeating my work..Version: 1.21.0

Not usable with FreemindGood mind mapping capabilities but the promised importing/exporting to Freemind (or any other) format just isn't there. I feel tricked into paying for the full version to get this functionality that was not delivered. Angry..Version: 1.5.0

NopeC’est plate.Version: 1.21.0

Charged me for no reasonGot charged $15 when I thought I was using the free trial.Version: 1.22.0

Very useful but has problemsLatest iPad version has broken the ability to add an image so it can be viewed larger than 320 pixels. It is stuck at 320 pixels. This worked great until an update tonight. Update. Developer wrote back and told me how to add an image which I already had been doing successfully before the upgrade. Developer. Please try this for yourself. Thank you. The windows version on windows 10 is expensive and has lots of issues. Not great as it cost 25 euros. Hope they fix that as the iPad version is all I can use at the moment without crazy problems..Version: 1.23.0

Wish I could sync my mapsI really like using this app and I love how easy it is to get my thoughts down (and they look pretty too). However I feel like syncing my devices should be a free feature. It’s not very useful to me to have this awesome app on my iPad if I can’t access any of my work from my phone. I know this is currently a paid feature but it’s not worth the money when most notes apps sync for free. I really hope this turns into a free feature, I would LOVE to make this my main note-taking app!.Version: 1.23.0

Good, but needs iCloud sync supportAfter a few days of using this I upgraded to the Pro version, and then also bought the Mac version. So far I really like the app and chose this one over several other mind mapping apps that I tested. However, a major failing to me is the lack of the ability to sync minds maps between the iPhone and Mac using iCloud. I haven’t used Dropbox in many years simply because I *haven’t needed to* with the apps I’ve purchased, so why do I need to set that up all over again? For $50 ($10 for iOS version, and $40 for the Mac version) I expect iCloud syncing. If I had known there was no iCloud syncing I wouldn’t have purchased the desktop app. Really want to give this app five stars and am looking forward to iCloud sync in the near future. Thank you. EDIT: I see that beta testing is happening for iCloud sync right now (Jan 2019) and I hope that it’s an easy to use seamless process..Version: 1.22.0

Very good - but IPad issuesI love a lot about this mind mapping tool. I bought both the upgrade to Pro for IPad and the Windows desktop version. Working on both platforms using the cloud to sync the files made sense for me, but I'm finding that creating image and document links in the Ipad version is inserting a different directory link structure in the map than when I do the same thing in the desktop version. The result is that I can't access the links on both platforms. If I add it with the desktop, I can access the link through the desktop; if I add it by Ipad I can access it by Ipad, but not both. This seems like a simple issue that could be fixed and I hope that's true because I enjoy this product and don't want to get bogged down by these kinds of issues. Paid versions here....Version: 1.18.0

Beware of in app purchasing. You don't get what you pay for.Tried SimpleMind+ for free to see if it was suitable for me. All was great. I had read the reviews, and was happy that if I upgraded I would have the ability to save to .pdf I decided to upgrade, so when I had completed my in app purchase, I was shocked to see that I could not save to .pdf I thought the in app purchase would initiate the Pro version, but it does not. There is no warning that this would happen. I do have other options now, but am unable to save to .pdf If I want this facility I would need to download the Pro version and pay again! Not happy on how this has been developed and marketed, to gain more revenue by misleading people, even though the app itself is ok..Version: 1.20.2

Not really freeI downloaded this and discovered immediately from the opening screen that a list of pay-only features ... the most important being able to save. What use is a mindmap program that does not allow you to save. (I had read that the different platforms have different features - so the iPad version is useless if you cannot save your work).Version: 1.21.0

Very disappointingI bought the upgrade, connected to a cloud for back up, everything seemed great, did loads of intricate maps. I looked in the cloud section, everything seemed fine. Then I had an issue with my iPad and had to do a forced restart. My app and all my work vamoosed. It did not show up as even having been paid on the App Store. Hours of holding with Apple couldn’t get it back for me. When I read the blurb more carefully it seems hooking up to your cloud is not enough, you have to manually go through a whole saving rigmarole every time you do something new. In this day and age this seems ridiculous, almost as good as not having the app at all. SimpleMinds reaction? One virtual shoulder shrug, no reply to a second email or tweet. Don’t waste your time..Version: 1.21.0

Can't exportGreat mind map app, but no way of sharing or exporting - so useless.....Version: 1.6.0
