✓ Good App while it lastedGood selection of really old classics, but there should be a more careful selection of some of the readers whose voices can be sooo annoying that you can hardly stand to listen to the chapter! Particularly the few monotone voices and the occassional one that sounds like Sylvester the cat!!! Finally an update to OS4 on the iPhone stopped this program from working altogether! Not compatible. ## Update ## Downloaded the OS4 update and the audio works once again, but it is not fully OS4 compatible as it cannot continue to play when accessing other iPhone apps or features. Does not appear to be compatible with OS4 multitasking feature..Version: 0

✓ Great, but...I love this app. However with some stories my iPhone 4s tries to download the first chapter, then once the bar says it's downloaded (ie goes from the left to the right) it starts trying to download it all over again. Then once it's tried to download it for the second time it entirely vanishes! Can someone fix this - as you'll imagine it's really annoying. For example this happened on one of the 'A Christmas Carol' recordings... Thanks!.Version: 2.3.3

✓ Good, but . . .I like being able to find so many classic titles wherever I am, but this app has problems. It's great that i can get all these books for just a couple of bucks, but most of them are unlistenable because of the voice actors they get to read it. Obviously, to keep the cost down, they're using volunteers to do the readings, but most of them are so monotoned, unenthused, quiet and slow, I find myself losing interest in what I'm listening to very quickly. I would gladly pay $20, maybe even more, for this app, if they had more skilled readers, and if they fixed the responsiveness of the controls. I can still stomach a few of the books on here, but there are so many books I would love to listen to that I simply can't..Version: 2.0
✓ Hmm...The one thing that was stopping ne from downloading this app, even before I read the reviews, was the fact you never know what the voices will sound like. I listened to some of Dracula, and was put off immediately by the annoying American voice! The app also needs a clearer indication of whether it is downloading the whole book when you tell it to - I can't tell at the moment..Version: 0
✓ Poor narratorI think the narration is everything in audio books. After all, you're listening to that person continuously and relying on them to tell the story in an engaging way. I found the narrators so far to be too hard to listen to. Monotoned, at best. Such a shame but I can't see myself listening to a lot of the books due to the poor narration..Version: 0
✓ One of the better audiobook apps but...I like that you can prioritize but there is no progress bar when u are downloading a chapter. Also I had 3G downloading off but the app didn't tell me. So it was just stuck downloading the next chapter with no progress bar and no end in sight. I almost deleted the app thinking it doesn't work until I saw the 3G setting under the main iPhone setting section. There are so many obvious and presumably easy fixes that could make this a great app. Plus the contents and book list should be expanded. ✓ It's ok v1.2It's not bad that you have so many books to choose from was not aware however whilst doing a search within the app it could not find the book and came up with a msg stating most books are pre 1923! Would have been nice to know before hand Also I struggle to listen for more than a few minutes this is due to readers voices which are not that exciting but it could be just me.Version: 0

✓ Audiobooks rock! But...Audiobooks are such an incredible medium! I find this app very aesthetically pleasing both in it's display and function. Incredible value at nearly 3K books(!!!) Great features and simple to use. Unfortunately it seems to take quite some time to download on my 4G phone. The only major disadvantage i find is that the majority of the readers have American accents - (everyone please do not be offended by this comment but read on) i don't want to be one of those people who compains about an app with such an incredibly cheap price for so much content, but unfortunately for me personally, i just cannot get past the accent when attempting to listen to my favourite books The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas, Dracula by Bram Stoker and The Art Of War by Sun Tzu. The whole thing just sounds and feels 'wrong' and i found myself not even listening to the words but just the accent. Now on the other hand, some of my favourite American works such as To Kill A Mocking Bird, Farewell To Arms or any other classic American work would sound similarly inappropriate in a British accent. A good feature about the individual audiobooks available to buy is that you can listen to a sample of them - this is great as there are usually several versions of the same books, all with different readers - some worse than others! lol Overall great value app if you're not to bothered about the reader..Version: 0
✓ Great App!!!!!This is great app. I'm not sure but I think I paid .99 cents or $1.99 for this app. I would have gone a lot higher! I like mostly non-fiction. This app has a lot of political stuff like various president state of the union addresses. Stuff like that. I was in the covert ops to get the hostages out of Iran in the early 1980's. I can read about stuff like that. Carters state of the union address I have not looked up yet but I saw it there while browsing. Also, the Manhatan project. Stuff like that so it does have stuff later than the 1929 years. Anyway, great app for the change that you pay! 4 out of 5 stars Good app but does not always have the stuff, mostly Eastern philosophy, that I like. They have other stuff like Greek philosophers, etc..Version: 2.0
✓ MjawwwwSome of the books takes ages before the voice start on the story, keep saying same sentence over and over again.. Some are very badly voiced too as some of the readers seems bored out their brain reading it. And we do NOT have to be reminded in every chapter which recordig it is. ✓ Great idea but why link to Facebook?A great initiative and works brilliantly when the readers are good. I would like to leave comments to guide other users (mainly about the quality of the narration) but I choose not to have a Facebook account so it seems I cannot do so. It would also be helpful if users could rate the reader and content of a book separately. One star lost for each point but I will continue to use, with some caution..Version: 2.3.3
✓ If it sounds too good to be true...The chance to get almost 3,000 audio books for just over a quid sounds too good to be true but anyone expecting the resulting content to sound like something they'd hear on Radio 4 will be very disappointed. All the files I tried had American readers, only one of whom had a voice that was tolerable. When I tried to download the whole file, after hearing the first chapter, I just got a 'waiting' message. In the end I gave up waiting - and now I've given up completely and will delete the app after signing off from here. And 3,000 books? If you can find more than a few dozen that you've heard of by the time your browsing has reached 'm' then you must have had a better education than me. ✓ Fairly good app,I love to read and/or listen to books. This app is a decent audio book app. I do wish you could set it up to replay one or more chapters. I listen at night and while I sleep or do other things. I prefer to be able to listen to the same chapter until I have really heard and understood it. I also would like to be able to listen to all the librivox books. It is also irritating to have it always trying to sell me the other audio app by the same people. Especially since I already have that one as well. I didn't like having to buy two apps, then finding out that they had many of the same books. I felt like that was a ripoff. However, as I said before, this is a decent audio book app for listening to some of the free librivox books..Version: 2.3.3
✓ FairThe selection of titles is good. I found it annoying that sometimes the reading would start at the beginning of the chapter again instead of where it was paused. Occasionally had trouble downloading subsequent chapters I found it much better to go directly to librivox.org where there is a much bigger selection of books that I download to iTunes and sync to my iPhone. No problems with starting at the wrong place and I don't use up my data plan either..Version: 2.0
✓ UK englishI really like it but as some have said the quality of some narrators can be poor. I would like a search facility by star rating of narrator, search for more by same narrator if good one found and more importantly by nationality! ✓ Good idea, but...I really like the concept and started several books. However, I was unable to download all the chapters. It would get stuck in a waiting pattern and then never download that chapter. It would download the future chapters, but that didn't help me much. I ended up having to reinstall the books over and over to get the chapters I wanted. Furthermore, this particular app caused my iPod to stop playing ALL of my music/ podcasts/ audiobooks that I had on my iTunes account. I had to delete the entire app in th end. Too bad. It is such a great idea and I loved listening to books while folding laundry or mowing the lawn..Version: 0

✓ Works good, but buggyMy experience on an iPhone 5 with iOS 7.1 has been positive. This app understands audiobooks better than the Apple Podcast app. Pre-fetch of chapters is superior. But a lot of bugs: wants to jump back to the beginning of the chapter on resume, especially after a few days of non-use. Won't stop play when you unplug the earbuds or lightning cable. Can't be stopped or started from the locked screen. Bugs when used in my 2012 Hyundai Sonata: no way to start/stop from the car (Podcast app you can control). There is something in the iPhone that an app can register itself as last app to play, to allow easier resume. This app doesn't do that. Updates car display with book name and chapter, but minutes counter always zero. Fix some of these bugs to get a wonderful app..Version: 4.0.2
✓ It's okAt first I felt a bit ripped off to find out most of their books are pre 1925 but there are so good books on it like war of the worlds it's a classic along with others. The problem I had is on a lot of the books it's a different read every chapter or so and sorry to say almost all the readers are Americans so it does sound a bit weird when an American woman is reading dickens it just sounds off. This volumes can vary meaning u sometimes have to alter the volume setting. ✓ Upgrade is disappointingI have lost my original app where I could set the timer at night so the nook could stop if I fell asleep. I really liked that.
