✓ Didn't like itI only read the five first minutes of Sherlock Holmes before I couldn't go on much longer because the reader annoyed me terribly! He was American for starters, but I cannot blame them for that as it is always going to be harsh on British ears at first. However, I felt that this particular man could not read very well and was not suited to an audiobook app! For example, he paused to long at commas and nothing seemed to flow. Of course I have only listened to the first five minutes of that book, but it was enough for me to know that if it took him an hour to read one chapter, there was no way I could listen to ten of them! (Or however many chapters there are in that book). Anyway, it wouldn't be fair for me to complain and not be able to come up with solutions to everything I have said! So, here are some of them: 1) Instead of having just American readers, why not give people a choice of what accent they want to listen to? 2) They should have picked one or two people (maybe a man and a female) for the books and have the same people for all the books, so people can choose if they prefer a female voice or a male voice. 3) Listen to the people who are reading the books and ask people what they think. Chances are, they will notice I'd they are a bad reader, even if the makers of this app don't. Anyway, thank you for reading this review and I hope it helped. ✓ Expensive adds!This is a great idea but I'm very disappointed with the compulsory video streamed film trailer adverts. You can't skip it and it even loads them when you're connected via G3 using large amounts of you're monthly data allowance! ✓ Too many ads + weird interfaceTo all you concerned about the quality of the audiobooks, they are public domain books read by volunteers, so they aren't always of the best quality. Some approach unlistenable, some are spectacular. I rated this app low because the earlier version of this app had a far better search interface and no unavoidable ads while you listen, which I find completely unacceptable. ✓ Great concept, but version has bugs galore!I've been using this version for about a week. I like the ability to download over 3G and listen to my books while driving. However, I've had audio stop midway though the chapter for no reason, and the ads in the app fail to load and lock the app into a white screen. I'm currently in a white screen now while trying to load The Oregon Trail audiobook. I can forcequit the app, but it still locks up when going to books because of the way the ads are sctructured in the app. :-/ 2 stars for free ability to get classic books, but bugs and crashing is causing me headaches..Ses0101Version: 1.0.3

✓ Fast slide into unacceptabilityI used to love this app. Sure, the downloads were slow and the ads annoying but those were the tradeoffs for access to much of the World's best literature. But over the past few days the app is taking forever to open, freezing randomly on one of the menu pages, locking the Listen button on my iPhone so I can't access the books I've downloaded - the list goes on and on. If I hadn't loved this app for perhaps a year, and didn't know it is capable of better things, I'd say it's a piece of garbage. Please restore it to its former functionality, kill the half-screen promo ads for games, and give me back the app I love. ✓ This app used to be fantastic......sadly now it's just horrible. You're assaulted with uncontrollable screaming adverts while your book is playing, that's if you can get it downloaded without crashing. Also of you can get the chapters to play throughout without crashing, moving on and missing half the story. Such a shame, I used to rave about this particular app so much. ✓ Luv it but 1 caveatI love listening when my eyes are too tired to read for themselves. A real person reads, so you get the benefit of vocal expression, which can also be a drawback as the reader's expression can vary from what your own interpretation would be. What I DON'T like is that an ad pops up between each chapter that you have to actively go in and close so that the next chapter can begin. ✓ Good for free, but...While I'm loving having tons of classics at my fingertips for free I've noticed two major issues. Not being able to play/pause from lock screen (although you can using earphones with a button) and more importantly is that it causes horrid battery drain. I use it while I work (moving around so I can't charge) and it drops from 100% to 20% in just a few hours. And that's from a downloaded book. By contrast I can stream podcasts for 7 hours straight and it'll only drop by 30-40%. Really wish this could be improved, otherwise I love it..Ryan31394Version: 4.0.8

✓ Hit and miss but good overall.It is impossible to rate each presentation separately, the individual reviews never download so there is no way to know what each story will bring. Some of the narrators are excellent and present high quality recordings. Some are simply terrible and listening to them is torture. There is no quality control as some novels have recording problems. There is no way to stop, start or pause with the screen locked. As these recordings are free, the advertisements are to be expected however the ads with sound are obnoxious and intrusive. As it is not possible to use any of the controls with the screen locked, having to stop in mid reading causes the presentation to switch to an add. That's where the loud music from "Walapop" or other ads with sound intrude. With some of these problems attended to, I would not have a problem paying for these recordings..123 and 321Version: 4.0.8
