IDisplay for Positive User Reviews

Great AppI went for this app as it allows me to have 2 monitors attached to my laptop and the additional iDisplay app monitor. Support have also been quick and prompt with any questions that I might have. Even better its cheaper then the competition, so I'm very happy..Version: 2.7.17

Useful AppApp does just what I was looking for. Little bit slow to respond but that's expected I think..Version: 3.0.3

Really useful appBefore the update, I really hesitated on purchasing the app, but now with the 1.3 update, I like the app, and it's buttery smooth (sure not 30 fps, but quite smooth considering working over WiFi), and keeps your Aero Theme on Windows 7. Now, I can keep my e-mail on one screen, and the browser on another...many ways to use iDisplay in very useful ways Get this app fast! :).Version: 1.3

An excellent productI have been able to extend my MacBook screen to iPad2, almost doubling the available screen area. An unexpected benefit is the ability to drive applications using the touch sensitive screen on the iPad rather than the MacBook's mouse/trackpad. Windows applications running on the MacBook using Parallels Desktop work fine on the iPad screen and benefit from touch sensitivity and iPad gestures..Version: 2.0

Don’t understand the low reviewsI’ve been using this on and off for years. I have a MacBook Air 2010 (rocking it OLD school) with a 2018 iPad Pro. Funny enough. In the past, this didn’t work well with my iPad Air and was very laggy. But, in the absence of Sidecar, iDisplay works just as if I’m using Sidecar on my MacBook Pro 2018. It connects flawlessly over WiFi and USB, no fumbling around like I had to do when I first got this app many years ago. Obviously, it’s slower with a WiFi connection, but no where near as laggy as before and I prefer a wired connection. I did drop the screen resolution to 30fps, since I’m only using this for referencing between two screens, no heavy lifting at all. It’s a good little app if your feel the Sidecar hole in you Apple life..Version: 6.2

A must buyI bought this yesterday at £2.99 and I love it already. It's an essential purchase in my opinion. It would be even better if they added sound support through the iPhone speakers. I found if you play a video file on the iPod the video glitches but if you drag the very edge onto the main display it will keep the video rolling..Version: 2.0

Brilliant!I have a headless Mac mini as a media centre. Used to be a pain to connect a screen temporarily when doing something on it. Now I can just watch on my iPhone as I update it, set something running etc. Fantastic..Version: 3.3.0

A good app if you understand its limitationsI'm used to using 2 screens with my laptop. I travel a fair bit and previously often didn't have a 2nd screen when traveling. Now I just use iDisplay on my iPad as my 2nd screen. I have an LG laptop with Win7. I have to switch back to basic win7 color mode. I only use the iPad screen for fairly static images but it works well to give me a fair bit more screen space than i would get with just my laptop. I put Skype, or a calculator, or an email on the iPad screen that I want to refer to and I can still use my primary screen while referring to the 2nd screen. The resolution of the iPad screen is whatever the size of the iPad is so yes the windows moved from my main screen which has higher resolution do shrink slightly but as I only use it for static type things that I refer to I'm good with that. If you understand the limits of the app and work within them it is a great deal to get access to a 2nd monitor..Version: 2.0

Splendid appI have a nice little herd of iOS devices now and thought it would be nice to use them as addition desktop space for my windows laptop and Mac mini. Where competitors had issues this app just worked and worked well. I had an iPad, an iPad mini and iPod touch as additional displays. Can't wait to try our third iPad and second iPod touch just for the sake of it. This was just for fun but will really come into its own for productivity when i'm working away from base to give me a second portable windows laptop display. Great app.Version: 2.7.17

Perfect.I needed to extend my windows 7 desktop so certain dockable windows wouldn't take up so much of my valuable screen real estate. This app has just saved me a lot of £££ and IMO more useful than a spare monitor.Version: 2.1

Works like a charmI have been looking for a way to re purpose my old iPad 1 and found this app, I was hesitant to get it after reading some of the reviews but as it is the only one of its kind that supports iOS 5.1 I decided to take the chance. It works perfectly exactly as advertised. Slightly laggy but that is simply because of the speed of my wireless router. I use a 2009 iMac 27 inch and 2009 MacBook Pro, now both have a useful second second screen when required. Good work guys keep it up!.Version: 3.0.3

Super useful and stableWell worth the money. Doing exactly what I want. Wirelessly connect to iPad as another monitor. You did a great job, thanks. Don't understand why other people gave u bad reviews. Maybe they are not technical enough to get this running properly..Version: 3.2.0

Love itAs a gamer it's perfect for what I wanted to use it for and that was to load chat on a screen while I play on the other. Works fine on Win7 and my Nvidia 670gtx..Version: 3.0.3

Love version 6I use iDisplay on a daily basis now with my iPad. It's super convenient, lag free, and doesn't really impact my Macs CPU. Most of the time I use it with the lightning cable, but sometimes the WiFi features comes in handy, for example when I want to show something to my colleague, I just take my iPad with me. Highly recommended!!.Version: 6.2

ImpressiveFor the price this app really does what it sets out to do. I was watching live streaming video from the internet on my 2nd gen ipod touch as an extension of my desktop the other day with only slight loss of frame rate. I can't wait to try this out on the ipad2 that i intend to purchase this summer!.Version: 1.3.2

Highly recommend itWell worth it. Use it on both iPad 2 and iPhone 5c. Works very well with apps like Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro..Version: 3.2.0

Works great… brilliant little app!!!Already run a dual monitor setup and wanted some more desktop real estate….. installed fine and set up within 5 mins. You need a good wifi network. It does run a bit laggy with video but I use it to display my folders, simply tap the screen and it opens in one of my main screens… Cant rate this high enough!!!!!.Version: 2.0

WowWow what an amazing app I have now hidden my old pc away with a dual wifi card and now have fully functional windows7 ultimate on my iPad needs sound support though to play music on pc through iPad speakers and a way to remain connected in background other than that wow.Version: 2.0

Great product!Love love love this app! Extremely useful for having 2 displays while travelling! I can't live without it!.Version: 2.6.8

So far, so goodDespite the other shocking reviews, I've actually had some really good experiences with this app. It's very responsive, works seamlessly with Lion and is a pleasure to use in general. For example, I can have iTunes running on my iPad and change songs there while still using all my mac's screen for work; or I can put Photoshop's many extra windows on my iPad, select layers etc with my fingers and have my image in full screen. Well designed and a joy to use..Version: 2.0

Quick and stableI was really struggling to get Duet to work after something had gone wrong (in my case I had installed the Citrix Receiver and was unable to fully uninstall it to meet the known issues they had listed). I was hesitant to purchase iDisplay because of the reviews I had seen on the App Store, but can say it works really well, and I would highly recommend it..Version: 6.2

Perfect for my needs[Edit: Found the awkward way to switch to low resolution as a way to solve the tiny font problem. Suggestion to developers - add the word ‘scale’ to the description the work around on your page. ‘Scale’ is the word used in MacOS to change the size of text in a display and is likely to be searched for by someone with this problem - only given 4 stars instead of 5 as promised because the ‘low res’ solution produces fuzzy text; hard to read for extended periods of time and still mostly only good as a clipboard display] [Original title: ‘Good, but not perfect’] After using Duet and being frustrated by not being able to use my entire iPad Pro’s screen, I decided to try iDisplay. Success - I can use my iPad’s entire display, but I can’t scale the display so all text is super-small on my iPad. This makes iDisplay handy to use as a clipboard where I can park my calendar, but not very useful as a second monitor. Add scaling and I’ll bump my review up to five stars..Version: 6.2

AwesomeI spent over 10x the price of this app on a touch screen monitor which I'll be sending back; this app does what I need just as well as a touch screen monitor if not better with no time lag issues. Love the extended screen mode option and using my old iPad means the screen sensitivity is spot on..Version: 5.0.0

Excellent app with osxBrought this app a bit hesitate due to others knocking it. However I downloaded the latest os x software from the developer web site everything connected up great no issues at all. Now not that it brothers me but the refresh rate on the iPad is set at 10hz so it's not smooth like your monitor but as I only use the iPad screen to hold msn and iTunes it's of no concern to me..Version: 2.0

Excellent appI use it as the third screen on my laptop. It does the job very well indeed. Highly recommended..Version: 2.7.17

Great AppAmazing application fulfills what it promises, it is worth every cent your purchase, highly recommended.Version: 6.2

FabWorks straight away without a hitch and allows me to control my music on my Mac (hooked up to speakers) wherever I am in the room or house! Really smart and has lots of great uses. Buy it! (Great value).Version: 1.3.2

I like this.Nice application. But I feel wifi connection is a little bit slow. can customers have more options to connect iPad and Mac? Such us,wire and Bluetooth. And it does not work well when I put iTunes into iPad screen and watch movies..Version: 2.0

Works FineWith an app on the Mac and an app on the iPad the screen is extended with a USB-C to Lightning cable. A tiny lag is the only noticeable thing, but now I have two stellar displays using a 2017 MacBook Pro with an iPad Air 2..Version: 6.2

Great appThis a great app. I use it as a portable extra display. May sometime lag a bit but in 99% of the times it works flawlessly. To avoid the problem described by another reviewer, just adjust your settings properly. I highly recommend iDisplay..Version: 3.2.0

Very handyThis app works seemingly flawlessly on the mac running OSX Lion. It offers great control over mirroring displays and works a charm alongside the two existing displays on my mac mini. Latency can be an issue with so many screen running and video obviously drops frames to keep up but I think this has as much to do with router bandwidth and device processing power as anything else. I'm currently using it on my iPad to remotely access and shutdown my workstation in a different building after it finishes a lengthy upload and I love it. I wanted to write a positive review as I like the app and want it to continue to be supported. Anybody expecting to get 'wired' monitor results should look at wired monitors - as a tool for mirroring a display for teaching, demonstration or presentation purposes this works great. It has had issues but the current version seems extremely reliable. I will admit that it has taken me some time to find a use for it but when you do it's perfect..Version: 2.2

Super AppI love this app. I can increase my desktop real estate for only £5. It even works on my school guest network!!!! well worth £5. Almost worth getting an iPad. It would be even better if you could change the rez but ho hum..Version: 2.0

Works again with CatalinaGood news works again with Catalina and ios13..Version: 6.2

GoodDespite the quantity of negative reviews, I decided to give this a go. It's early days but thus far connecting a MacBook Pro (10.6) with an iPad has been seamless. Yes there is a slight lag but this is not an issue when working with PDF files, spreadsheets etc. Hoping this can only get better..Version: 3.0.3

Works on Lion 10.7.2 (despite the Nvidia driver bug)I downloaded this app because AirDisplay stopped working on my system after an upgrade to Lion. Apple has a bug fix in the works for the Nvidia GeForce driver, but I need my external display. For those having trouble with lag - remember to turn off Bluetooth, and check your WiFi connection - the better your router setup, the faster a WiFi-based display will work. For those who are confused about screen resolution - the iPad works the same as any external monitor, using its native resolution (1024 x 768). If you want the resolution on your primary monitor to match the iPad, you can adjust it in System Preferences > Displays (but I don't know why you'd want to)..Version: 2.0

The best of the bunchI tested SplashtopXD, iDisplay and Air Display, this one is the best for me. Doesn't require password every time you connect (uses white/black lists), handles retina display on iPad well, offering two resolution options, quality of display is best (using lossless option), extended option on iPad display allows zooming, and best of all, it even allows iPad to be used as third screen! MacBook Air on left, 27 inch apple display in middle, iPad on right. Awesome..Version: 2.7.17

BrilliantI can use the Mac Calculator on my iPad and tap the buttons to use it. I can also pinch Mac Pages on my iPad to make it larger. Great stuff!.Version: 1.3

Works fine...👍🏼I have an iPad Air 2 and 2015 MacBook Pro, and it work just fine. It seems to work as intended. Great product!.Version: 6.2

Fantastic productHugely helpful product. I'm accustomed to double monitor at work and needed this at home as my laptop screen is small and I have to work from many different documents. It was super easy to set up and has never failed in the month I've been using it. Displays everything in perfect aspect ratio and sharpness and is fast and responsive.Version: 2.0

Great little appI purchased this app to use my iPad as a second screen alongside my iMac. It works brilliantly. Really useful for shifting palettes from InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator so I have a clearer desktop for designing artwork. Also useful for moving whole windows over so I can compare side by side, rather than having to juggle everything on the iMac screen..Version: 2.6.8

Neat, easy to use, needs a little improvementI actually like this application. very easy to use. I guess you can find similar kind of application that as fast as this application and as easy. Cost wise it is better price than the other competition. Performance wise pretty good. I have got Mac Book pro and an external monitor. I needed another monitor to run my debugging panels and literally this app save me about $300 bucks. I know because it is on WIFI the transferring the windows from your mac to the iPad (It is the third monitor) is a bit jerky but in my case I dont care. The data refreshes pretty quick. I read my documentations on the third monitor (Which is my iPad). I have iPad 1 and all good. I gave this application 4 out of 5 just because first they could have a trial version, then the resolutions in the ipad is not as good as I expected which still fine with me for the documents and debugging panels. Overall, If you want to run something static that doesnt need too many refreshes like a PDF or even a tutorial or as a test station I think this is the app for you however if you want to watch move or render heavy objects then think about buying an external monitor. Thanks guys again for this app :) looking forward for the updates. Cheers.Version: 1.3.2

Much improved!I purchased this application when it first came out. At the time, I played with it a bit and found it to be too slow and crash-prone and so it just sat unused for a long time. The previous version of the Mac client was a lot more stable, but still a bit jerky in terms of responsiveness. The latest version of the client is now *much* more responsive on my iPhone 3GS over 802.11n wifi. No longer do I have to scroll or move windows in a move-wait-move-wait fashion. It's not *instant* response 30 fps, but it's definitely good for what it's doing. The latest Mac client now automatically detects when the app connects/disconnects, getting rid of the constant phantom display that previous reviewers have griped about. For my personal setup, this is actually less convenient for me, so the only remaining improvement I would recommend is providing an option to have the phantom display (that's viewable in a window, anyways) remain when the device disconnects. While it's taken some time, kudos to SHAPE Services for listening to their customers and taking the feedback into consideration. In short, this is now a quite useful and functional utility, if there was an award for Most Improved App, I'd give it to iDisplay hands down!.Version: 1.3

Works well for me!Works very well for me, though a bit fiddly to set up at first. But once up and running, it's very slick. I'm using both Win XP and OS X 10.8 with an iPad 3. 'Lossless' mode on Retina looks fantastic, but best suited to static images. Not tried with video..Version: 2.6.9

Great little appI'm use this on my macbook pro retina to extend the screen when working at home. There is a noticeable slow down when using the extended display but it is certainly useable and for the price of the app it is an absolute bargain. They advise turning off Bluetooth on the ipad and I can confirm this does improve performance. If you're expecting the same performance as a second wired monitor then you will be disapointed. However if you have used appletv as an extended desktop it is a similar experience to that, although my iPad is somewhat smaller than my plasma!.Version: 3.0.3

Tout à fait génial!Fonctionne à merveille, nul besoin d'acheter un deuxième écran. :)))).Version: 3.0.3

Works as advertisedSimple install on Mac and iPad. It worked straight away after a restart. Now my Mac has another monitor which is great for displaying documentation while I work. It's not the fastest on redraws and mouse movements but what can you expect over wifi. I've seen that others have had issues with idisplay but it worked first time for me..Version: 1.3

ExcellentSuperb! I have installed it on my iPad and PC. It works perfectly via wi-fi. The retina display is ideal for checking colour and exposure on photos when used with Photoshop running on the PC. Much, much better than the LCD screen on the laptop. iDisplay was the reason I bought the iPad. A bargain at the price. PL.Version: 3.0.3

Very handy- works wellI installed on Win 7 laptop of average capability. Installation of IDisplay was straight forward. iDisplay causes a bit of a slow down ,when running, but nothing major. App works fine- and very handy. I wouldn't run it all the time, as an external monitor, but as a short term solution, or as a wireless "remote" it works great..Version: 2.7.17

Good, but a few extra things would make it alot betterApp is easy to use, however i cant get my imac to screen extend onto my ipad2 Also would there be a way of turning off my imac using idisplay on my ipad ? (save my legs walking).Version: 2.2

Very coolFor a $5 app this is unreal just saved me buying a mini USB touchscreen monitor for $200. Works well for my needs..Version: 1.3.2
