✓ ArtStudio for iPad...AWESOME!!!This is the finest Art App I am using for my works of art. I have many...some of which I've discarded since using ArtStudio for iPad...yes, it is that good! Everything about it is first class, that can be used by a budding artist, in between artist and/or professional artist. The tools are so realistic, I find myself feeling as if I am creating on a real canvas with real paint and tools. The colors are beautiful and can be blended to perfection...if desired. Sketching and drawing are benefited just as well as painting on ArtStudio for iPad. Layout is very important to me and ArtStudio's suits me extremely well. Everything is easily within reach...and if you do not want to see the tools, colors, etc. they can be hidden until you want them again. Also, you can have several sizes of canvas to choose from. If you choose to try it, there is no doubt you will like it. I would recommend it highly to everyone. For some, it might have a slight learning curve, but be patient with yourself. It's a great tool which is incredibly quick & easy to use and far outstrips the competition (including Photoshop Touch!). I'm a professional artist who uses digital photos as reference, and am now also painting digitally. With ArtStudio I can do everything on the iPad, from working with the photographs right through to painting the work from start to finish without being compromised on functionality or creative flexibility! The instruction manual that is included is probably the best I have seen on ANY application, with a plethora of screen images with clear detailed instructions, and will have even the novice up and running and producing great results in no time. ✓ Just about perfect 👌I’ve been using this app for about 4-5 years now, and it is still my favourite art app to this day. the interface is very simple and easy to use, unlike other programs with needlessly complicated layouts. everything is easy to find and it’s just a very clean app in general. however, i’ve had trouble importing photos for whatever reason recently, and i would really like that fixed. aside from that, this app is a must buy!.Version: 5.103

✓ Everything is great exceptI was finishing up a greet looking picture when I tried to add a picture of a fabric texture for reference. I accidentally chose to 'Import from photos' when I realized that wasn't what I wanted to do. When I tried to undo the action I wasn't able to considering I forgot to save and I lost the picture all together. ✓ FantasticThe new interface is great and I like the fact that you can lock any of the toolbars to stay in place when enabling full screen view, I like to keep the size and opacity sliders available most of the time. There are some nice new brushes available and I bought the pack. There were a few complaints on some forums that these were being charged for, but you don't have to buy them. It is possible to create your own custom brushes and fiddle around with the settings to make your own version of any of the ' for sale' brushes. I would rather buy the brushes and support the authors of the app. I prefer to spend my time making paintings rather than making brushes. Just a quick update to say that the app is still perfectly stable and is a must have for any digital artist..Version: 4.2

✓ Still AmazingSo, I got this app for free back when it was still brand new for the iPod 3, and I loved it. Then they updated it and I bought the full version. So worth the five dollars, and they just keep making improvements! ✓ Tool previewer still buggy on iOS 12.1.3I love this app. It’s one of the few I found that has a selection tool and wand like Photoshop and let’s you edit and transform the selection without having to create a new layer. It has masking layers, cloud and render special effects, and I love being able to switch and sample colors just by holding my finger down for a few seconds. It looks like we can create our own custom brushes, too. There are a lot of features I haven’t used yet since I used the free version of the app with its three layers and small canvas size for three years. I felt it was worth buying the upgrade and I don’t regret a penny. :) Now on to the bug report. Since I installed the latest update (January 2019) I’ve been having lagging problems (I bought extra icloud storage so that should not be a problem). The worst bug is the swatch that previews the size and shape of a tool. It has been freezing up even after I make my selection and staying on my screen, hiding my drawing. I’ve had to stop working five times and force close the app to get the previewer to go away, since leaving the app is not enough to unfreeze it. ✓ AMAZING!I'll admit, I was extremely hesitant to buy this app due to its price, however, I really needed a mobile art software. So, I decided to test my luck and purchase it. That was back in the summer of 2016. I still have that app to this day. ArtStudio is, by far, the best art app on the App Store. I've seen people saying that Auto Desk and their apps are better, but nothing's ever clicked with me more than ArtStudio. I've given up Toon Boom, Photoshop, and FireAlpaca for this app. I absolutely adore it! However, I own a Windows computer, so there's no way to get this beautiful creation onto my desktop. Perhaps if you guys gave a download link for those people who are not fortunate enough to have a Mac, that would be really good for me. I love ArtStudio. Maybe you could make an animation program with the same layout and such with it. In reading other posts, people get mad cuz the program doesn’t save their work. Well duhhhh people! ✓ A wonderful drawing toolAmazing application, it has it all... Layers, multiple undo, export to jpg or other... Very easy learning curve of all the tools available and the tools feel reals too. Well engineered app in all aspect, will suit a beginner and the pro easy. This is my favourite drawing app on iPad so far and I use my IPad mainly for drawing pro cartoon and comics. I also use this app for caricature on the go. Updates are regular and don't stuff previous functionality or drawing previously made. Combine with a good touch pen this tool is actually better then some drawing tools and software on mac and PC using Wacooo or bambooooo tools but pressure tools only found on software so complicate it took hours to set up a brush or pen... ✓ Answer to my childhood dreamsAmazing app and just getting better with each update. There's a real blur tool in here now, extremely useful. I teach art at a school that has supplied students with ipads, of all the incredible art apps out there this is the one we use 90% of the time. From the young ones who have never experienced any art all the way up to the high-school students, this app provides an easy to learn and powerful artistic experience. By far the closest yet to having Photoshop in your hand wherever you are. I have a Mac Pro with a Wacom tablet and I find myself using the iPad and ArtStudio more often. I don't have to head down to the art studio to create now, I've got an amazing ArtStudio right here in my hand wherever and whenever I want..Version: 0
✓ Really nice and usable; needs better importI find this amazingly easy to use, and have never had to resort to finding documentation. Everything works really well. It's fast and stable. A big problem for me is that there's no way of importing anything other than photo roll images. Since the latter are jpegs without transparency, they're pretty useless. A very common workflow would be to create in a vector app (eg. iDraw -- recommended), then shade or otherwise edit in a bitmap editor like ArtStudio. But AS doesn't have any useful facility for this. A decent import of some type would net this 5 stars from me. Highly recommended anyway..Version: 3.1

The price is very fair for all it does. Jus be patient and do the tutorials. The menu instructions are created with this sketch program and are about as simple as it gets. You will be up and running in no time. You will quickly learn to use TWO fingers to drag the image around because ONE finger draws lines and other commands. ✓ The best of many ... but not yet perfectI've downloaded quite a number of image editing/creation Apps and this is certainly the best I've used in terms of functionality, so it gets five stars. I'm particularly enjoying the support for the latest Adonit Touch stylus - palm rejection too please. On the down side ... the interface is a bit clunky: Windows 95 style menus across the top, big toolbars at either side of the screen. I'm not sure how to do it better, maybe a swipe-down top menu, or pop/swipe-out from an icon at the top-left. And pop-out/swipe-down from icon and/or smaller, less obtrusive tool menus (think Adobe Photoshop/InDesign use of screen real estate at the sides of the screen) that were draggable around the screen and could switch horizontal/vertical. I know I can make the tools invisible, I like them there, just looking nicer. The icon is ugly too, sorry, but it is - same design, but minimal, cleaner would catch the eye more in the App Store..Version: 5.10

So, why not add some of the good things from the Pro version to the original? ✓ Great AppI love the Art Studio App! I'm using the IPad Pro with the Apple Pencil which is a great fun tool to work with. But when it comes to the color picker, I prefer to use this app on my oldest IPad using a regular stylus because I can find any color I'm using just by holding down the stylus or my finger on the color and it will choose just the right color I'm working with. It doesn't seem to work right with the Apple Pencil -however if I go to the color picker in the side bar it will choose the color I need but it does not always choose the right one. The color picker in this app works best on my oldest IPad (2013). The color picker doesn't work well in Art Studio at all on my IPad Air (2015.) It works perfectly on my oldest IPad though even though all my IPads have the same IOS-I keep them updated always! This is why I won't get rid of my old one because it works best with Art Studio. ✓ My Fav Drawing App - need one touch size/density toolI was drawing on my iPad with SketchBook but prefer ArtStudio much more. Love almost everything, especially the menu setups. Would like to see: 1) a one-touch way to adjust brush size and transparency as in sketchbook. However I like to see the brush size off to the side and not right under my finger. Having to adjust both independently is one step too many. 2) The ability to import a picture layer from the album as in sketchbook. I like to be able to trace lines from pictures as a starting point sometimes. I find this cool as an amateur artist. I really really miss this option and would love to see it. 3) a simpler way to resize the paper size by pinching with 2 fingers and positioning the image inside the paper size with finger movements. ✓ Review and SplitView feature considerationMan oh man, where do I start. Well first I have to say that, ever since I had my hands on this app, waaayyy back before I even got my second Ipad or my IPad Pro. This app has changed my life. I was finally able to draw in places outside of my computer and it enabled me to draw most of my art into DeviantArt, and due to the capabilities and features of this app that strongly mimics that of a computer art programmer like Photoshop and Paint Tool Sai, I naturally got a tonne of friends and recognition ☺️ With that being side, I would like to share an opinion on how this could be even greater. If it had the split view feature exclusive to the IPad Pro, applied to it. Importing photos and images are still gonna be legit but with split view, we could draw stuff and reference it straight off of images searched off of Google Images in Safari and Import images mostly for the color-dropping capability. 😁.Version: 5.98
✓ WonderfulWow, it’s great that they’re still keeping this app around. I purchased ArtStudio years ago and it is still on my iPad 4th Generation. I stopped using it only because I purchased the second version called Artstudio Pro and I love that one too. I have cartoon characters on the ArtStudio original app that I created and I’m so happy that I was able to save them to my camera roll for use in my own small comic strips at that time. I think it would be fantastic if there were a special app to place my cartoons in, made by the developers of Artstudio. But I understand that would be a whole other story. If I may, I would like to say that I use an app called Strip Designer for my cartoon strip creations. I do this for my own benefit and enjoyment. I wish I could publish them, but they’re probably not worth publishing anyway. That’s it for now. Get this or the Pro version of ArtStudio, l don’t think you will regret it. It’s a lot of fun, even if you’re not a professional artist or anyone in that field. Life is too short. Enjoy yourself!.Version: 5.105

✓ Does what Both Photoshop and Illustrator Does!Ok. So the title of this review is a bit of hyperbole, but surprisingly not by much. With this app I can add layers, text, drawings, and edit photos, etc. I use it mostly for practical purposes like creating maps, combining images, making signs, and basically adding things to photos. Sadly, I'm not an artist, even if I appreciate art, but this is by far the best app I've found that can do all of this on an iPhone or iPad. Awesome app..Version: 5.98
