Art Authority for iPad for Positive User Reviews

Wonderful stuff! It's apps like this that make the iPad an iPad !!! I am seriously going to get lost for a day or two now : ).Version: 4.5

So soothingI wasn't sure this app would be worth it, since all these works are available online. But the way everything is organized, and the way you can so naturally swipe between full screen works and zoom in and get more info as needed, is so wonderful. I just spent twenty minutes here in my comfy chair at Starbucks marveling at masterful works of the early Romantic period, and I found the experience more meaningful than walking around in a museum (which tends to bore me, honestly). I also love the fact that I can save the paintings to my photo roll and then set them as my wallpaper! Love this app. Highly recommended..Version: 4.3

Fantastic!I noticed that nobody had written a review for this app yet and I thought I should correct that given how fantastic this app is. When I first bought this, I thought it would be fun but figured it couldn't compare to actually being in the same room with a beautiful work of art. However, both the quality and sheer quantity of these paintings and sculptures far exceeded my expectations. I love that I can zoom in on details of a painting just as if I was standing in front of it in a museum. The author of this app seems to be meticulous about the quality of the pictures so that zooming in is a gratifying experience. I have found a number of new favorite artists, and the app is updated with more artists and more paintings regularly. Given how great this app already was when I first bought it, the regular updates feel like free gifts for new fun exploration. If you are a lover of art, I highly recommend this. It's like having the most amazing art museum in the world in your pocket..Version: 4.4

Great app except for one issueThis is an amazing app overall. It's worth the money, especially if you're into art, art history and an artist yourself. It's easy to use and find you're way around. Although it is a little slow when loading up images (due to the fact that there are thousands of them) it's not a big deal. The only thing that makes this app a 4 star instead of a 5 is that the application will randomly quit when you're in the middle of looking at an image. I'm not sure if it's a glitch in the app or if it's the fact that the app is having trouble with the upload all the art. In conclusion, this app is phenomenal and worth the cost..Version: 0

Wonderful! This is a well thought out app offering an enormous collection of the world's best-loved art. Simply browsing through the "Gallery" is easy, intuitive, fun, and educational. The slide show feature makes for enjoyable viewing. More focused viewing is quickly available by artist or historical period, and then by individual image views, slideshow, or resizeable grid of thumbnail images. The iPad version takes advantage of many of the new interface design elements and allows for easy zooming in and out of high resolution images. Recommended!.Version: 0

Brilliant AppAn outstanding reference. Very well organized and easy to use. A great way to discover artists throughout history and from many genres..Version: 4.11.1

I love this app!I absolutely love this app. To have this collection of paintings at my fingertips is wonderful but to go further and sort by museum, style, artist... fantastic!!! The picture quality is very nice. It is always a challenge to represent paintings accurately because texture is flattened out in photographs, but I have been happy with the images. I especially like the close-up detail shots. I just returned from a four-month work assignment in Europe. This app was invaluable in helping me to get a handle on the museums and their collections before visiting a city. Even with no specific plans to head to a new museum, though, I love just browsing this app and its gorgeous collection of paintings. I have never felt more like a kid in a candy store. Kudos to the developers for a beautiful app and for immediately responding to a suggestion I made! A few extra bells and whistles I would love to see in future releases: 1) ability to track which paintings I've seen 2) information about special exhibits at museums. I have yet to find one comprehensive site that tracks exhibits at a large number of museums. I would happily pay good money for this, as I like to plan trips around special art happenings. To have to search each museum site individually and frequently is time consuming. 3) ability to search for museums by city location (eg, I am going to Berlin, what are my museum options?).Version: 4.5

Awesome app!I’m not sure why there are negative reviews...this app worked flawlessly for me. Maybe it depends on what you use the app for - I’m just educating myself with it. I love browsing and better understanding what styles and artists I prefer. Access to more information is super easy, navigation is simple and intuitive for me..Version: 4.11.2

Great conceptHaving all this art available to view at leisure is just great. I have visited some of these galleries and will visit more. This saves a lot of web searching with links to web info on the artist or painting. Being an Australian I was impressed with the Australian content but would like to see more. Hans Heysen or Fredrick McCubbin deserve a place. Thanks for the app well worth the money. Still enjoying this app but what I think is missing is the info tag that describes the painting as you find in the art galleries or is it there and I haven't found it..Version: 4.3

WOW! Fabulous for art lovers! This is a fantastic app for art lovers! What an incredible app, not to mention great value! This program does all kinds of things. It has paintings from private collections that I have never seen Anywhere. You can look up things on Wikipedia about an artist, add music to the art work from i tunes, enlarge the piece, even find works of art that are similiar to the work you are looking at. I can not say enough great things about it!!!!! It also tells you the location of the painting and if it is in a museum, will describe the museum and location for you. If you love art as I do, get this app. You will really enjoy it!.Version: 4.5

Good, but need some improvementsBrilliant app, but sometimes it closed without any reason. Pls solve this problem..Version: 0

AwesomeThis is a great app for anyone who is into art, history, art history, or just loves art. Even though it crashes sometimes, with what it is trying to do, and what it gives you for art and artists, and the organization, you can live with it. The graphics are amazing, you can save pictures, look up individual artists, explore specific time periods and types of art, even get a general overview of time periods. GET IT!.Version: 0

PhileosIf you love art stop here! Of all the apps I have bought this is by far the best money I have spent. Each illustration can be zoomed in on for a more detailed examination. I rated this 5 stars only because there were no more I could give..Version: 4.6.2

Great appI really like this app, it is great to go through all the info especially if studying art, thanks.Version: 4.6

Love this app!Great app! Well organized, thousands of images, keeps me interested. They update it from time to time with nice new user features and/or new material..Version: 4.10.3

So far so goodReally hope I could zoom in to view the fine details of the pictures, please add more hires! However it's a great app so far so good!.Version: 4.3

Where are the Russian artists?Over 10 Russian artists can be found in the collection but they are not located in any category or timeline that I can find. Suggestion... add a Russian artist category that contains them... Other than that, 2 thumbs ups for the app! Having a hand- held set of art museums to study art is super! Excellent work!.Version: 4.11.1

Version 4.7.2I have purchased Art Authority and am happy to report that the installation was a complete success on my iPad mini. I hope to find it very useful as I am reading Inferno by Dan Brown. There are numerous references to artwork in the book and Art Authority will make the reading even more enjoyable..Version: 4.7.2

Nice Art AppAnyone who is interested in art should seriously consider this App. Art Authority has a good range of work on a wide variety of artists through many periods. I particularly like to put on a slide show of a chosen artist while listening to a playlist..Version: 0

Good app. But..I'm an art lover and this app is comprehensive and a delight to use. I would rate this app as an easy 5 star if it had the story of each painting which informs you of the story the artist was trying to portray - just as if you had the guided tour in your ears if you were actually in a museum. Maybe the developer will introduce this functionality in a future release..Version: 0

Something's wrongGot iPad 3 and had to start re-downloading fav artists, I understand that, but they won't stay downloaded. Close app, reopen and no downloads, even though in some cases white check was next to name. Fix. Ok. Artists staying downloaded problem is apparently resolved. Resolution is excellent for iPad 3. What I would like is, after saving a picture to photos, I wish when viewing, it would again briefly show the name of the work and artist. I have hundreds of works saved to photos and need to know who I'm viewing later on..Version: 4.6

Art Authority for the IpadThis is the app that I always click on first to show off my new IPad. It's ideal for the format, because every painting fills the entire surface, be it vertical or horizontal. The quality is brilliant. Almost every major artist of the past is included, usually with their entire output. I'm looking forward to the likelihood that more 20th century artists will be added soon (they may already be there in the update that I've just downloaded but not yet transferred to the Ipad. The captioning is succinct but adequate, and disappears quickly enough to not intrude on the enjoyment of the image. There are also links to Wikipedia entries. And the slide show works well, even allowing for music from the itunes collection. All-in-all, Art Authority appeals to my love of art and my love of collecting. I look forward to future enhancements, perhaps even a more advanced sorting capability..Version: 4.3

SuperTrès intéressant pour découvrir les tableaux et leur concepteur. Juste que je trouve des fois un peu la navigation un peu difficile..Version: 0

Great App!Amazing value and beautifully presented..Version: 4.6

Quite good, AirPlay pleaseI like this app, but my only request is for it to be AirPlay enabled to beam the slideshows to the big TV..Version: 4.2

ExceptionalThis is an exceptional application. The layout is very intuitive and the information that can be discovered immense. My one (constructive) criticism is the clash in 'production' when we go to wikipedia which is not so lavish to the eye as Art Authority. This is a minor detail as the overall accomplishment is extraordinary..Version: 0

Love it!Woops, reinstalled and now seems to work. Great so far..Version: 4.2

Literally the Best Thing EverThis app is mind blowing. I've spent too much time studying the facts about the major art movements, the big name artists and the pieces they've created and haven't been able to meditate on the actual ARTWORKS themselves. This app has solved that. Now I can cruise through virtually any period and soak the beauty in... Right through this gorgeous retina display (for iPad 3, of course). Most of the images are super crisp, but that's not always the case. I figure they work with whatever they were able to get their hands on. I haven't come across anything "bad," yet, though. Absolutely an invaluable tool for art historians. Everyone who is a part of Western civilization as a whole should be required by law to dig through this app. It makes so much culture accessible. Just fantastic..Version: 4.6

Just one problemA great app apart from one problem; you can't search for a specific painting. If, for instance, I wanted to look at van Gogh's sunflowers, I would have to search for van Gogh and then wait while it downloaded dozens of paintings before it got to the one I wanted. Have I missed something because it seems a big problem to me..Version: 0

Now much faster - and wonderfulNow, after the latest update, this really is a wonderful art viewing app - loads at a decent speed, and more pictures. Really wonderful! Buy this app, no question..Version: 4.2

Art AuthorityOverall this is an excellent App. Very neat how it integrates with Wikipedia for info and information on the site of each work. The line up of works is quite impressive as well. Albrecht Dùrer for instance has total of 450 works or details on show. It's all rather a big box of chocs ! Lovely..Version: 4.7

Art AuthorityFantastic. I fumbled around for a while, (very briefly) and then things started falling into place. Yeah, there are some very up to date things I couldn't find, but then some of the things I was looking for might not be fine art. It pulls stuff in from a variety of sources. It's a guided tour of the history of art. I wish I had something like this when I was in high school. Would have blown my teacher's mind. The only bad thing I can say is that NOBODY will ever be able to look at all that this app has access to. I can't even guess how long it took to find all the sources that it can search for you. I say search, but it will retreive images faster than you can study them, so maybe search is not the word. Excellent! Pete.Version: 0

FantasticExcellent app. The info link works really well. Definitely worth the money..Version: 4.2

Beautiful art referenceI hesitated to buy this because of the price tag, but it really is quite beautiful and as well as displaying the artworks it tells you about the artist so is educational too. It really works well in the iPad..Version: 0

Worth Every PennyStunning, beautiful, great interface... so glad I bought this app. Elegant and informative, so much crammed into this app with hours of browsing and just gazing. If you can't make it to Amsterdam or New York or one of the many great museums of the world then this isn't a bad substitute..Version: 0

One of the best iPad apps! Just wonderful.Wow! This is just amazing and one of the few game-changing apps in the App Store. Even if you have only a minimal interest in art there is such a large amount of content here that you are likely to find things of interest, even if you only really like a couple of mainstream artists. Really showcases what the iPad is all about. I was a bit concerned at the comments about slow loading of images but basically they just chug away adding to the list of artworks quite rapidly. It doesn't slow down the experience at all, and IMHO it is quite a nice experience watching an artist's life work unravel before you. Anyway, in my top three favourite iPad apps even though I'm not particular any arty type. Definitely thoroughly recommended..Version: 0

Great, unless you’re trying to do serious researchI think several people overestimated the nature of this app. Would it be cool to have an app that hosts entire collection of existing art? Of course! Would that collection be enormous? Yup. In fact it would probably have to be either subscription based app, or cost like $50 or so. I’m not a fan of subscription structure but something like that would have to be a service. In other words someone would have to constantly update that database and you would be able to get access to their server. Think of all the copyright issues. If you take a photo of a public artwork from 1000 years ago, that photo is still your property and can’t be used by third parties for profit. That means whoever will manage this database has to either obtain permission for using those photos or go out and actually photograph all those artworks themselves. Is that remotely realistic to charge single $5 fee for that sort of thing? This app is for entertainment purpose. It’s cheap, some photos are not the best possible quality, but it’s a lot of fun to use! Just use it on the bus or passing time browsing through some classic works of art. Some artist strikes your interest, just google it and find more exhaustive info and more art. It’s not the app to use for deep research, but personally I use it to get inspiration for my own art. It’s like a huge brain-storm resource. Gives a good reference into what’s out there. It won’t replace Google or a visit to an actual museum. But it’s a lot of fun, for what it’s worth..Version: 4.11.2

Beautiful art app!Rediscovered/redownloaded Art Authority for iPad today. Nice way to view artworks from artists throughout history. Plus, you can even save your favorites! Highly recommended!.Version: 4.11.6

Art AuthorityThe user interface can be a bit confusing, particularly when switching between different views, but it's an improvement on previous versions. Overall, this a very useful browsing app for discovering art works and artists, as well as genres and periods. It also includes summarised wikipedia pop-ups for artists..Version: 4.8.1

If you like arts, buy this appAccess to so many paintings, ability to zoom in. Very interesting..Version: 0

Canadian ArtistsWonderful selection of paintings, although it would be nice to see more Canadian artist included..Version: 0

Great APP, but...I wish tat every time an update comes out I would not lose ALL of my favorites paintings that I have cashed; they seem to always disappear from my iPad (mayor annoyance)! The lord knows it can take a long while to DL all of the works of an artist again, much less several artists, over and over and over again just because of updates! Can we PLEASE have an update that prevents all of the work you have already DL'ed from being whipped out? Besides this complaint, I love the app! I do wish there were higher res images more often than not. Alas, no APP seems to have yet catalogue higher res images of museum art in the majority. I also wish there was a way to submit request for artists whose work we might want to see in the APP (old artist and modern); can't even tell how many times I've come across an artist who is nowhere to be found in this APP. We can help the creators of this APP to keep up with current demand for both old and new art!.Version: 4.5

Beautiful, elegant, educationalFirst of all, it hardly needs saying but the works contained in the app are stunning. The app itself is also very elegant. Organized as though you've walked into a gallery. nice transitions, easy way to find more history if you're interested, and also lends to just browsing and roaming around. Very impressed, not the cheapest app in the store but this will remain interesting and feed my mind when I need the inspiration of great artists. Much more comprehensive than other apps I've looked at..Version: 0

Great but a tad slowThis is a really beautiful app, and does what it says in the description. The downloads can be frustratingly slow though if you don't happen to have a fast Internet connection. I wouldn't recommend this app for those planning to run it via 3G..Version: 0

Absolutely brilliant!I ignored the negative reviews and bought this and I’m so glad I did. Works perfectly on my iPad and I love it!.Version: 4.11.4

Great appThis is a wonderful app for viewing and learning art. Some have complained that it can be slow but it seems fine to me when not viewing in wall mode. As far as I can tell with limited use, it has quite an extensive collection. I like that it takes you to wikipedia for more information on the artists without leaving the application..Version: 0

Great appI really love this app. The only problem is that I wish it didn't use Wikipedia as it's main Information source. We all know any Joe Blow can go in and change the information in wiki. I wish its information came from scholarly sources. Away from that it's perfect and I love the feel of it making it me feel like I'm at a museum. I love that it tells you the location of the art, love that it makes me feel like an artist for loving art. Great art history resource. Only real negative is I don't know how to download more content. Still a great app. One wish, I wish the picture of Adele Bloch Bauer was a little more detailed. I've seen better depictions. Wish I could see the diamonds on her neck. It's my favorite art peace because of it's historical dilemma and involvement with the crummy Nazi Party. Maybe it's because it's now owned privately by her granddaughter I believe. Great app. Please fix this..Version: 4.2

Comprehensive and SuperbThis was the first app that I bought for the new iPad (March 2012), based on the very favourable review by Patrick Jordan in iPad Insight. It's an excellent app ... you can easily find the paintings you love, and then move to those you've not seen before, all beautifully displayed ... I've had my £7 value from it in my first visit..Version: 4.6

Beautiful appVery easy to use, beautifully designed and showcased. Hopefully will add artists like banksy - update, they've added banksy!.Version: 0

Pocket-sized museumReally like it. Totally worth the money! I agree with the other comment posted regarding the downloading of works. Would be nice to know how many painting are there in a collection. Although I have never had to wait 30 min for a download..Version: 4.1

Better now with highlights and hd artFull screen art is always impressive. I enjoy it on google art project and now this. Hope that more high res will be added. Navigating rooms looks good..Version: 4.6.2

Near PerfectThis was what the iPad was made for.. Really comprehensive list of artists Amazing range of works Simple and beautiful interface Worth £20 at least...Version: 4.6

Good content and curation but ...For an art app it is certainly not going to win any app design award. Navigation is pretty clumsy, the lobby room looks weird; the default 'wall' looks cheap with that weird salmon colour. The overview/help section could benefit from a video tutorial, or be discarded altogether if navigation is intuitive enough. I thought the segregation of settings into in-app and iPad settings is unnecessary and not user friendly. Caption font and design are also a bit basic! Content wise, no complaints except to say, more in-depth captions would be appreciated rather than a link to the artist's wiki. Having said all that, I think this app is very valuable and has potential to be even greater, hence my long wish lists. For the sale price, definitely click buy!.Version: 4.2

Not Loading New contentIt has not been able to load new content for 5 days and the Art Authority website is not working. Does anybody know what happened to them? I have given the app a high rating because of past experience but will reduce it if it does not start working soon..Version: 4.8

AmazingI've been spending so much of my time browsing through this app, I thought it was due a review. The sheer breadth and volume of this gallery is amazing. The pictures are high enough resolution that you can set them as a wallpaper or fit them to your screen without noticing any pixellation, but you unfortunately can't zoom in enough to look at small details. The information and references aren't the best, but it is visually stunning. It skips a lot of contemporary work, and here are a few holes in it's collection, but there's easily enough content in here to keep you occupied for lifetimes..Version: 4.5

Wonderful App!This has been my favorite app for quite a while now. With hundreds of artists represented (plus time periods, styles, movements, etc.) there is always something to enjoy, in lovely high resolution. My one feature request is to be able to UNfavorite artworks. Then your favorites could evolve along with you, and you could use the favorites to quiz yourself on various artwork details, changing the elements of the quiz as you learn..Version: 4.6

Great app, though updates neededArtwork looks amazing in this app. Browsing through in full screen is a great experience. Captions fade away after a few seconds in perfect timing. Images may load slowly and sometimes they stall, but so far no crash. Internet connection needed to view collections previously viewed. Would be optimal if they are accessible offline once you have browsed them online. The price point is ok. But viewing offline is a must in future updates..Version: 0

Fantastic study resourceI'm a graduate student in art history and am studying for my comprehensive exam, and Art Authority has been a huge help in augmenting the piles of books I'm reading in preparation for the exam. I use it in conjunction with the standard art history texts, in order to provide a more in-depth look at the variety of works of a single artist, rather than relying on it to present survey-level information. It gives me a better context for seeing the differences between artists working in similar styles, which is often not apparent in the survey texts due to space constraints. For me, this was definitely $10 well spent and I plan on continuing to use Art Authority in developing lecture material..Version: 4.1

Great app for anyone really, not just artists.I myself do visual arts as a course for my final years of school and after learning about the time period of art in class (e.g. Impressionism), it is great to bring in my ipad or look at it later of fantastic artworks through this app. It is very efficient and I love the layout of the gallery style. I personally believe anyone would love this app even if they are slightly interested in this app, a person who has only ever been to a museum once in their life would appreciate the many interesting artworks in the app. Their is thousands of artworks from thousands of artists. I love the fact that it gives a small caption of how the art was captured (painting or photography) and the fact that it provides a small synopsis of the artists bio, through his artwork. The only little problem I would like to see taken care of in a update would have to be the fact it doesn't have most mediums, I would have liked to see video art or maybe more sculptured art. However I only got it today so might come across it. I doubt I I'll see video art as i knew it would most likely not be in this app before I got it but I would like to see it come out in an update. Overall, fantastic app for anyone who had the interest to visit this page. Hence the name art authority..Version: 0

A good startThis app is in dire need of music, some classical tracks would be best. Also price is too high for what being offered, to further reinforce this not all pictures are HD they're low res/quality. Since I paid 10 dollars for a art app I was expecting quality pictures and a unique experience something like the art puzzle app, this was a let down in that area. I'm going to give this a 4 out of five since there is a lot of content but it really needs some improvements..Version: 0

EurohistorianGreat update to a great app. Critical videos added to works are very informative. Looks nice on iPad air2. I've had this app since the original iPad. Enjoy it very much..Version: 4.10.3

This is why you bought an iPad to begin withThe reviews around the web are all outstanding for this. I saw a couple of negative reviews on the App store saying picture quality wasn't that good. They are simply wrong. Do not hesitate to get this app. Fantastic picture quality, sometimes I feel like I am at a museum. The interface lets you explore different periods and links to more information. This is a true treasure in today's world. You will connect to great works of Western art. Must have for families, must have if you want to nourish your soul and feel connected to human history..Version: 4.6

Home art galleryI love this app. Every day I pick a new artist to focus on. The format is great. A mini art gallery where you pick the period you wish to focus on or just skip to a particular favorite artist. It is very easy to use. Each artist is well represented with a number of their works and most of the works have descriptions as well. Each artist also is linked to a Wikipedia write up. If only most museums would have such detailed curation. I also liked that women artists are well represented which is something many art history books fail to do. I have recommended this app to friends and am surprised I am the first to review it..Version: 4.7

Great appGreat app guys , but crashed after 4 mins . Needs to be sorted out. But great idea,.Version: 0

NiceRelies heavily on Wikipedia, but a lovely resource for casual browsing or a quick reference..Version: 0

Beautifully inspiring.Art Authority is well worth the price! An art history book would cost 5 times this price and wouldn't have near the quantity of artwork you can view on this app. And, art history books weigh a ton. I was able to watch a shuffled slideshow of impressionists, view several paintings chronologically of an artist I wasn't familiar with and look him up in wikipedia with the tap of a button, while listening to my iPod music all in the comfort of my living room. A couple of the photos are pixelated, but the majority are beautiful. I'm looking forward to viewing more. I also found a list of photos that I can see up close at the museums near me. I like the layout of the app. It is very easy to use. Hope the developers keep adding to this app, but with 1000 artists and 50,000 pieces of art, I'm sure I'll keep busy for awhile. Update: for those giving this a bad review because it won't update, it is an Apple problem with ios 6 that will be resolved. I promptly received an email with this answer when I wrote Art Authority..Version: 4.9.1

Entertaining and informativeThis is a terrific app. Enjoyable for random browsing. It also serves as useful reference. I recently used it to look up artists and paintings discussed in a novel I was reading..Version: 4.9.1

Amazing. Brings the iPad alive like no other app. This is absolutely my favorite iPad app. I can spend hours wandering through and never get tired of it. Simply stunning. I paid $5 for it, and thought it was a bit much, but it really is worth every penny. Pros: great selection, wonderful layout, easy to use, hi-def photos, can order prints, save to photos option Cons: useless without wifi. In settings you can set the photo cache to 50K (default is 5K) but the second you're off wifi the photos you just viewed are no longer viewable. (sometimes) You get a message telling you there is no wifi but you can view cached photos. Lies. Things I wish for: 1.A folder where you can view your offline cache of photos. 2. Ability to sort paintings chronologically. 3. Fill in the gaps on certain key artists that are lacking 4. Ability to lock artists so the paintings are never removed from cache and never have to reload.Version: 4.7

Great app, room for improvementI have only had this app for about an hour, but I already love it. It's a little slow when you're looking for something specific you don't remember the name of, but I love that you can look at different kinds of groups, down to choosing museums to see what art they have. My one problem with this app is that as far as I can figure, you can't bookmark, favorite, or comment on art or artists. I think this app would be well-served if you could do that, and could even serve art history students extremely well in that capacity..Version: 4.6

AwesomeAs a professional artist, this is a very comprehensive collection of artworks and very useful as I can source paintings quite quickly. I would like to see more contemporary artists - I guess that may develop as time goes on. A great app!.Version: 0

AwesomeThis is a wondrous, amazing app which every art lover should have. It exceeds all expectations. So beautiful and with so many features. User friendly. It is my favorite app. Would like to see a couple of the more famous Japanese and other Asian artists added to its extensive selection of paintings.Lovely!!!.Version: 4.7.2

Excellent Art ReferenceNeeds AR capability. IAP would be fine for AR function..Version: 4.11.6

Good, butA slightly annoying aspect is that when you select a particular artist, there is no list detailing the viewable works or a counter of how many works are left to download. Each work takes a while to download, so you could be waiting 5 or 30 minutes if you want to browse through them all in thumbnail view, rather than looking at one while waiting and wondering if another is going to download..Version: 4.1

Art Authority for iPadLove this app . Saves me wandering around the net to find all these paintings . No crash problems so far either. Loads of artists to go at , keeps me occupied for hours . Good value at the price..Version: 0

A truly beautiful app!A real gem for art lovers! Easy to use and very comprehensive. What a find!.Version: 4.8.1

A Wonderful appArt Authority is a superlative app. Anyone interested in art should own this, it really works so much better than browsing the web for art..Version: 4.6.2

MiraculousSo many picky reviews! I'm seventy, and I say this app is a darned miracle. Think about it, 40,000 paintings at your fingertips and immediate access to Wikipedia and museums around the world. Download is not slow. Once you have looked at a painting using wifi, it is archived in your iPad and you can look at all the archived paintings without wifi. The quality of the pictures is better than most of the art books I own. You can zoom in and see brushwork and tiny details. In fact, this app makes my art book collection seem puny. And all for $10. Go for it. I don't think you will be sorry..Version: 0

Love itI don't agree with the review above. In my view the app is worth the I vestment and gives a wonderful opportunity to learn more about art history, and there are are links to Wikipedia where anyone can read more about artists, if they wish. The review above is absolutely unfair. GREAT application, I highly recommend it, and my friends were impressed when I was showing them what the app can do..Version: 4.1

Great appLOVE IT! One of my 5 favorite apps. Well worth the $$$. Yes, some of the photos when zoomed are pixilated, but others are not. Its like taking a Saturday am stroll though a art museum. Love it. A couple of enhancement wish lists- Would be really great if we could have more than one favorite list, or be able to sort and filter favorites. I am going to the Louvre next month- help me sort/ filter my looong list of favorites for just that museum. Maybe a mulit level sort by period, medium and artist. And if we could add notes to paintings it would be even more perfect..Version: 4.6
