✓ Why change itThe correct pronunciation of every word is very important when an individual is trying to expand their vocabulary, small variations sometimes completely change the way a word is pronounced, and interpreted. I was looking for a simple dictionary with pronunciation when I downloaded this app, sometimes more isn’t better, and better isn’t more, most of the time things are just fine the way they are, this app was just that..Version: 7.2.11

✓ Please, **fix** the "Siri and Search" functionality(I would give it a zero if I could -- happy to revise it once you fix this functionality) The "Siri and Search" functionality has been broken for ever. It is hard to understand why the developers have not fixed this already, especially given how expensive this app is once all modules are purchased. The user should not have to open your app to search for a word when I can search for a word in a global search (at which point Apple's built-in dictionary kicks in rendering your app obsolete). Your competition, "Terminology Dictionary", does this flawlessly so it is technically possible. Hopefully, you can fix it too..Version: 7.2.14

And change the layout back to something more akin to the previous version while your at it. ✓ OkThis app is good. There's only 2 things wrong with this app: It gives too much explanation on words. Like when I was doing my homework, I had a bunch of words and I had to write the explanation that the dictionary said and I used this app but I only had one short line to write on and it gave me so many words that I had to write under the line and squash up my words even when I didn't write all of it! Also, it was alright at first but after a while, it started crashing after about 5 seconds which was really annoying so I deleted it. I hope somebody improves it soon because right now, I'm looking for a different dictionary app..Version: 2.5
✓ This dictionary hates womenI had used this dictionary for a long time, but this morning I saw their social media post with a crossed out female/Venus symbol clearly designed to inspire misogyny/hatred of women. The supposed intended purpose for their post was to shame “TERFS”, women who stand for the rights of female people. If this dictionary had any integrity, they would know that “TERF” is a slur used against women in order to excuse violent rhetoric such as death and rape threats and disguise their misogyny as “progressive”. Not only do I NOT want my dictionary to cater to taking sides on any political issues at all, I don't want my dictionary to contribute to violence against women..Version: 7.2.27

✓ Word derivation lost in upgraded product!This is a very fine app. BUT...the earlier app included the history or derivation of each word. This set it way above any other English dictionary app. Without the word derivation the dictionary moves away from superior to other dictionaries to just above average..Version: 7.2.8
✓ An added feature could make it greatA useful app, easy to use. And I really like the word of the day that pops up when you first open your iPad. One major complaint however. When Word of the Day comes up there is no definition. If you click on the word, rather than taking you to the definition it takes you to the app, generally to your last accessed page. If you then click in Daily, you get not that word but the next day's word. So you need to do a search to get the definition. I really like this Word of the Day feature but it needs to be much more user friendly. Simply have it go to the definition of that word when clicked on! ✓ Too many "upgrade" ads despite buying no-adsI bought the no-ads in-app purchase, but the app still contains buttons that only leads you to in-app purchases. For example, below each definition are some options such as seeing example sentences, but those buttons serve no purpose at all except to lead you to purchase that add-on. Accidentally tap the wrong link, or decide you don't like the chain of words you're going down, and tough - now you've got to think back to the word you started searching on and do it all again! And what's with having just two columns of thesaurus words in iPad landscape mode? What was wrong with separating synonyms with commas in a single grouping? It was far more readable before! ✓ Useful, but limitedThis is a well developed and user friendly online dictionary, but it has one major failing, and by that I mean 'major', that is its word limitations. The very words that are rare, yet favoured by good writers and better quality literature, are too frequently not listed or accepted. For example (just in my reading today) 'khazi'. Yet it is words such as these that we sometimes need assistance in understanding. Here are two more not accepted : 'cagoule' and 'faffing'. Can I tell you how many times I’ve looked up a word, then tried to scroll down the definition only to accidentally hit the word “the” or “an” and have the app leave my page to show me the definition of “the”—and then not let me go back to my original word? How about EVERY SINGLE TIME I USE THIS APP. Also desperately needs to support split-screen view. How many use cases do you think there are where a user would want to have this app open alongside another app they were working on? Probably the vast majority. ✓ SCAMMERSI bought the full version with no ads in 2017. Then the purchase disappeared. I didn’t feel like fussing over $6, so I bought it again a year later. Now I open the app and I can’t restore purchases. I have both of my receipts and a screen recording of the restore purchase feature not working and the help center button being a prop. The “help center” button in settings is literally just a picture that does nothing when you click on it. How can Apple let these kinds of apps through to the App Store??? ✓ Needs split screen modeOne of the things I love about the iPad is the multitasking functionality and the ability to do split screen mode with so many apps, being able to have an app for whatever reference I might be needing sitting alongside my main app. It would be really lovely to have my dictionary (the OG reference tool) just be able to saddle up next to what ever I am reading or writing, with out having to switch screens. ✓ Fair App, But Not Great.The basic app is far better than the upgrade. The upgrade is an entirely different version of Dictionary and won't even allow you to use it in landscape mode. You're stuck in portrait mode and the upgrades are not worth the price. I went back to using the basic app after deleting the upgrade. Even the basic app is inconsistent, sometimes providing pseudonyms or rhymes and sometimes not, and not all definitions are accurate. Additional Note: If you want to know just how bad this app is, look up the word 'gender'. Apparently the author of this app doesn't actually know that gender means, 1. male 2. female. ✓ Good but seriously flawedActually could be excellent...but problems on the iPad2 Despite my time zone/country location being set properly, the "word of the day" that is pushed to me and waiting each morning bears no relationship to the 'word of the day' available when you go to the app..... if you click on the word of the day notification...it doesn't take you to that word... just the main app... For some reason... the search is always displaying suzerain and it's description... even after a restart...always! The "hot word" in the main window is cool, but has more information then can be contained in that window... if you touch/click that window, the app opens and new 'panel to give you the full information..but doesn't, the window stays blank other than the heading...the content does not load.... Was tempted to buy the HD version as it LOOKS GREAT but it just teases you... not sure if the HD version will be any better.
