✓ Excellent appI originally had this on the iPhone (3, now 4 track version), and always found it to make excellent recordings via the iPhones built-in mic. I then invested in an iPad and had no reservations about buying studio mini XL for it - for the extra tracks and stereo and USB recording features. Initially I had problems when using a camcorder cable via a mixer but I think this was more down to the leads I was using. I then ended up buying the camera connection kit and Griffin imic setup as described on Fantastocrats website. This provided a great sound but I was getting tracks crossing over onto each other. I emailed George at Fantastocrats and as usual he got back to me very quickly. I ended up emailing him some photos of my set up and he immediately spotted the problem and after I'd followed his advice I now have a really good and cost effective set up. The sound quality is truly great throughout the imic and mixer set up. No hiss, really rich sound, sounds professional. I've read of people complaining that this app doesn't feature panning effects, reverb, compression etc. and this is all true. However, I think many people who buy this will have these effects available to them via either their source unit (a keyboard mainly in my case), through the mixer or as I normally do during the post-recording work on the computer. Once I've recorded my song, I import it into Audacity and from there you can add stereo effects, pan channels and much more. Generally though I don't mess with my tracks too much. I've tried other (cheaper and more expensive) multitrack apps and although some featured the above effects built in, they just weren't as easy to use aS Studiomini XL, which I always found I returned too. All you do is hit the record button and off you go, it records what you play and does it well. That's all I want. The only slight problem I have experienced is a latency glitch once or twice (after recording the first track the second track has been half a second early or late) but in the hundreds of times I've used this app as I say, it's only happened a couple of times. It was easily remedied by turning the iPad off and on again, perhaps too many apps in the background? Once this has been done it has worked 100%. Again I have to say that the developer support with this product really is second to none. A few time I've emailed other app developers with queries and they never bother to reply - not so with Fantastocrats, they always answer your questions fully and promptly and will endeavour to solve any issues. As they said to me, "we want everyone to be able to use this app happily and get really good results". That sums them up for me. So yes, perhaps a little light on the effects side of things (although they may of course include them in a future update), but as a straightforward multitrack recording app you really can't beat it. ✓ Great AppPositives - Simple to use and record (direct connect my Yamaha keyboard into the iPad, StudioXL to record), rock solid when it runs (no crashes), the price is unbelievable compared to other recording software apps for iPhone/iPad. The wi-fi transfer from the iPad to GarageBand is easy and works every time. I sent several emails to the developers and they replied very quickly and created a section on their website that answered my questions. (Mixer connections to the iPad) The sound quality of the iPad is really good with this app and best of all, it's fun to use. It's exactly what I was looking for to leverage the power of the iPad and portable sound recording. Suggestions - the color scheme is Fisher-Price, it could be toned down and/or made to look more professional. When you put a track into record mode, you don't get a preview of the level until you begin recording..Version: 0
✓ Simply The Best Multi TrackerStudioMini is a great app for quick recordings. All so is great for writers block. Backing drums are extremely well put together. ✓ Great...!Well I am chuffed to bits with little fellow, it works fine for me. We use it in band rehearsal. It's great, we can rehearse a song then I E-mail it to the rest of the band for us all to practice at home and its not to complicated either. Forgot to mention: We bought the Tascam stereo condenser mic (about £70 mind) and we just record in stereo but it works fine and you don't have to buy the mic if you don't want to. Sure it probably does a thousand other things but it does enough for me. Summery: V Good...Version: 2.1.3

✓ Well worth the price!This is an excellent piece of software. I am a solo entertainer with a keyboard/sequencer and I direct a small church choir. It's great for making rehearsal tracks. ✓ Does what you wantProblem with most sound recording equipment is it's too complex and the interface is too clunky. This program is simple but very elegant and tactile. Good results even with the internal mic but you can use external and headphone mics too (try dangling your iPhone headphones through the sound hole of your guitar!). A very straightforward and hassle-free export function lets you export to programs like Garage Band to add effects and edit carefully, but with this program alone the possibilities are endless. Also features some decent drum tracks that come recorded at various tempos to fit your needs. A few features will hopefully be added along the way, for instance quick way to 'bounce down' and combine two tracks into one, but at the same time its simplicity is the main appeal..Version: 0

✓ Recording studioFantastic program and easy to use. I have recorded my drums miked through my Berringher tuner as well as my Roland electronic drums with same system. I have garage band as well on my Mac but this crazy little app used with my I pad works incredibly. And the low price is a deal. ✓ FantasticI used to use an old analogue 4 track as a musical sketch pad and for recording simple demos. I've dabbled with various computer set ups since then, but nothing has had the immediacy and simplicity of a humble 4 track. Now for a few pounds I have an 8 track which is as accessible and user friendly as my old 4 track but is so much more. The latest version has a better lay out and looks more professional (looked a bit garish previously). It also includes an extra track which the developers don't seem to have listed. This is my favourite app so far. I would love to see a couple of basic effects in a future update, but maybe I'm being greedy!.Version: 2.0

✓ StudioMini 2.2.5 is Back!I have used StudioMini with my iPad Mini since 2013 to keep track of my songwriting ideas. A few months ago, I noticed an issue with headphone monitoring and contacted Support. They suggested a workaround and promised to fix the problem. I am happy to say that the latest version, StudioMini 2.2.5, is back to being the great little multitrack recorder I have depended on for years - awesome digital sound quality, great reliability and ease of use! ✓ Promising and easy to runStudio Mini offers an intuitive and satisfying experience for recording multiple tracks. I particularly liked its looped percussion and metronome facilities. It has a no-brainier export function and I found the app a good intro to multi tracking generally. However there seems no way of doing a custom mix. For example if you want to briefly ease off or make more prominent a track, it does not seem possible. The sliders are effectively frozen at the same position for the purposes of a mix down. Also it would have been nice to have some effects such as reverb as part of the package or an optional plug-in. Also there's no way to set the placement of certain tracks in the stereo mix..Version: 2.1.4

✓ Great App BUT!I wanted to chime in on this app... I use it a lot for multi track recoding songs I have made... It sounds great, it records great, and I find nothing wrong with that end of it..... BUT...... Getting music out of it is not easy to do... You must have an Internet connection, or make vain attempts at removing songs through ITunes File Sharing, which is at best not very easy to do! I don't believe it's the Apps fault, I believe it's Apple's.... I would like to see this app be able to record an MP3 or 4 in the future, and be able to post the song you made up on Facebook. Or even move it to your music library right from the app... Keep plugging away at it gang... It's a great App. And I have given it four out of five stars......Version: 2.2.2

✓ Update?I've been waiting for an update on this app for what seems like an age so you can imagine how happy I was when I saw it had been updated for iOS 7. Unfortunately, I can't notice any difference. Please Otreus Inc, add Audiobus support and Dropbox integration and panning and it'll be perfect. Don't let this put you off though, this is a great app for your money and recordings sound great. I've just spoiled myself using another iPad DAW recently. ✓ Good but could improveFirst off, its easy to use, with relatively intuitive controls. Please update with a landscape mode, being stuck in portrait is really annoying, especially for users with ipad cases which can be used as stands in the horizontal orientation (which is most of the cases out there). Also, a notes feature for every song would be cool, where you could input lyrics and such. While I'm at it, why not beat every other ipad recording app to the punch and become the first actual audio sequencer with an arrange page? 5 stars when landscape mode and lyrics come. ✓ Fun, useful app for recordingGreat little app. Recording was smooth and the export via wifi worked flawlessly with windows 7. A couple things I would like to see, pan controls for each track, ability to set the bmp, a way to import audio tracks, export to wav or aiff, and a way to append a recording to one already done. Maybe a user forum to discuss tips and stuff. A way to import more drum loops would be cool too. Do you know if this app would support a mixer connected via the USB connection kit? ✓ Record mixes from board at live showsGreat update! Love the new features, keep them coming plz! I'm a live sound engineer and use studiomini xl to record shows live from the mixing board into a stereo track. I then create mixes of songs in the app and email them to the band guys without needing my main computer which is great for me especially when I'm traveling on tour. The sound quality is almost hard to believe but definitely get an imic or one of the other usb interfaces..Version: 2.1.1
✓ Sweeeet!This is a killer app! So easy my 9 year old picked it up and started recording her own songs on the ipad. And I'm loving it for the same reasons. No excuse now for forgetting new ideas. Also, Mr. Stamatakis, the owner and creator of the Studio Mini XL, responded to my email questions. I'm a guitarist and had some questions about using professional mics and amps with Studio Mini XL. He also informed me that he updated his website and has new videos for these specific questions. These videos are a big help and has cleared up some issues I had regarding hot recordings and what not. It is also easy to export the tracks and use with garageband or other recording software; allowing finer control with mixing. I have spent over a thousand dollars on gear in the past that doesn't come close to what this app costs! Super Cool..Version: 0
