✓ New York Daily News iPad app has been "paused" on all downloads for 4 days with no fix in sight!This iPad app has been completely inoperable for days and no one in the Filipino Call Center has any estimate as to when the "known issue" will be repaired. This is what happens when there is no one heading up Technology at the New York Daily News. As a result I have cancelled my subscription..Version: 3.9.3
✓ Blurry .... New toolbar not user friendlyMy husband downloaded the new version on his ipad and finds that when you enlarge the script it turns blurry. The old toolbar is much more user friendly. I am actually resisting the update until this get fixed..Version: 2.3
✓ IPaper on pauseThis is the first time in the years I have been purchasing this app that an issue has arisen. It is a daily pause for the app, and I am unable to download any new news. I am not sure if the developer is reading the review or if it just does not care about its customers. I guess the users should get together and file a lawsuit against this app for charging its customers without delivering content. Maybe we should make this a newsworthy subject for its competitive counterparts and let them display it on their front page that this app is not working..Version: 3.9.3

✓ Yesterday’s NewsRecently the app has gone from uploading the “Sports final”(latest edition) to the “Metro edition”, which is basically yesterday’s News. You would think by subscribing to a digital newspaper, you would get the latest version, not so in this case. This should be an easy issue to rectify…let’s see what happens..Version: 4.0
✓ Cannot open digital edition.Since moving to Florida 6 years ago I’ve enjoyed reading the digital version of the Daily News on my iPhone.. But since I’ve downloaded iOS 17 on my Apple iPhone I cannot open the app. I’ve called the customer service twice and they were not one bit helpful. I’ve also emailed them three times and all I get as a reply is that I can expect a reply within 72 hours. The last email I sent them was 2 weeks ago. Still waiting for a reply. . ✓ Doesn’t work anymoreI’ve subscribed to The NY Daily News through this app for years. It was great. But now The NY Daily News doesn’t support it any more. They sold this app to a 3rd party. The 3rd party isn’t maintaining the app. The last time it was updated was 3 years ago. The paper doesn’t download anymore. I call and they say they are aware of the situation, but it’s been a week and they haven’t fixed it. It’s too bad because I really love this app. I suspect that they will delete this app soon because it doesn’t pay enough and it’s limited to Apple users only. ✓ What a totally useless app!It's advertised that you can read off line. You cant! It downloads a heap of garbage on start up every time. Crashed four times in ten minutes. Suggest that the developers take a look at how The Age in Australia do it. The Daily is just a very badly designed PDF reader. No wonder the so called "trial" is not free. ✓ Worthless on OS17I’m a life long reader who’s ready to abandon the newspaper. Ever since I’ve updated to OS 17, the app has been rendered useless. New editions will not download! The download immediately pauses and will never resume. I’ve emailed dozens of times to let them know of the issue and I’ve received zero replies. I’ve called as well and though they seem to be aware of the issue, nothing changes. It’s been over 6 weeks that I haven’t been able to read the newspaper. ✓ UnreliableI am a long time Daily News reader and up until recently I have been using this app to read the news before I head into work. I enjoyed the fact that most days I could get the paper by 5am and be well informed before I head to work. Working the last month or so I have had days where there was no paper and recently no service whatsoever. I discontinued my subscription and attempted to renew it with no luck. The website has me registered as a user but the apps, there are two of them, neither allowed me to log in with the same credentials as the website nor could I log in directly. Contacting customer support for the app only confirmed that my email address was not in their database even though Apple saw me as registered with them for a subscription. Until this issue is resolved I am resolving to read my news from other sources. My loss since I loved how the News represented the city..Version: 3.9.3

✓ They broke itHave uninstalled and reinstalled and yet the problem remains. Over the Last few weeks the app stopped showing new stories past the two pages. As I continue to swipe left the stories continue to be the same stories from weeks ago. “Redskins cheerleaders being sexually exploited and harassed.” “Giants better strike a deal with OBJ.” “Heather Zervos subpoenas Apprentice transcripts.” I don’t know what happened but the app has stopped refreshing content past the first 4 stories. The rest of the content seems stuck and the app appears broken. News media is dying and journalism is losing a platform further still..Version: 3.7
✓ It's Official -- Worst App EverHow is it possible that this app has gotten worse over the months? It just cannot be possible to have found brand new ways to make this app even more useless and annoying than it was....and yet....this illustrious band of app developers ....led by the most useless executives have done just that. THIS APP IS USELESS. How did they manage to mess this up more? It just morphs into some more useless piece of garbage every week. It doesn't download. When it does start....it pauses. ✓ Stopped working upon upgrade to ios17Ever since the upgrade to ios17, all downloads are stuck in “pause”. I called the contact number 2 weeks ago and was given a free, limited time digital subscription to the nydn website. That subscription has expired and the app hasn’t been updated. ✓ Definitely needs updatingI’ve had this app for a few years with 6month subscriptions going through just fine until my paper stopped downloading recently after the new iOS 17 update. Had to request a refund from Apple because when you try to reach out to these people NO ONE EVER ANSWERS YOU BACK! Avoid downloading the digital edition. If it doesn’t work they WONT HELP YOU. ✓ Daily News has gone to crap!!Daily News has become so bias, it doesn’t even try to report new acutely. All I can stand is the sports stats. Mike Lupica has lost his way to liberal bias. My father worked for The News for 35 years, it was always in my house growing up. It has become just total garbage. Every day, with every disrespectful headline against the President of The United States, it gets closer to the National Inquirer and The Star. ✓ Sometimes it work sometimes it don't!I moved from NYC and got the digital version of Daily News. I've been reading this paper since I was a child in 51 now! For one month it did not work no matter what I did. Woke up one day it was back to normal. Today no Saturday edition, someone there forgot to release it I guess! This isn't the first time. ✓ Hardly responsiveConstant mash up of pages, public notices replacing news pages. Pages often blank. Don’t get Sunday magazine but when asked why, they have no idea how to fix. Told them I have iPad edition, they don’t know what I’m talking about. Since they now publish from Chicago there evening deadline is not compatible with time zone, lots missing in sports page. ✓ A bad fix to what was once a good appYour update to the app has destroyed the ease of reading the paper. It’s horrible. If you don’t fix it I’ll be canceling my subscription. It was fun and relaxing reading the paper now it’s frustrating and annoying. Not worth my time and money I used to have the paper delivered but the delivery was horrible also. Too many missed papers. ✓ App stopped workingI upgraded my iPad to iOS 17 3 weeks ago and that was the last time I was able to view the paper. As others have mentioned contacting NYDN is a waste of time. They say they will be in touch but nothing in 3 weeks. Went on Facebook and left a message. Still no response other then they would get back to me. Crickets. ✓ ReviewSports section is okay but not what it used to be. AP covers the Rangers, an original 6 in one of the best hockey towns. At least still have Lupica, P Bondi and Madden part time tho. National politics is okay, but well short of local madness and mayhem coverage and very little on anything happening in NJ. Editing, grammar, spelling and stories that stop before they reach the end are unprofessional. Love Voice of the People, where you print the crazed whining of the retrumplicans who trash you for being disrespectful the most disrespectful person on the planet. ✓ Does the Daily News what more of your money twice.It’s seems that you just paid for a 6 month subscription for the Daily newspaper and they no longer supporting this app. It seem they want you to paid an additional subscription on top of what you already paid for their new app with a cost on 6 times more that that you paying now. Also, no feed back on emails and no real support with calls to support. If the app is not being supported, there should be a warning to not renew your subscription for this app. This is just a conclusion based on the facts from the last time this app was updated, emails and calls I made and other people recents reviews. ✓ Decent app, with a few caveatsI’ve been a Daily News reader all my life, but with the price going up to $1.50, I decided to give the app a try again. It’s not bad, but it has issues when using older devices (iPad 1, iPad 4). It won’t work with the original iPad, and it crashes constantly on the iPad 4 - but they’re no longer supported by Apple, so it’s not a shock. But it crashes on my iPhone 6+, so I guess that it’s a RAM issue, since it seems stable on my iPhone 7+ and iPad Pro. You don’t get the Sunday supplements or Sunday funnies, but for the price you can’t complain. The daily funnies are in very low resolution. I’m not sure if it’s an anti-piracy measure or if it’s a bandwith saving thing, but it’s tough to read them..Version: 3.8.2
✓ Issue Deletes by ItselfThe latest version of the app has a bug where any issues that were downloaded, will automatically delete by itself and those issues would need to be re-downloaded. After uninstalling the app and then reinstalling the app, the same problem occurs. The app is nice but it needs an update to address the bug..Version: 3.9.1
✓ Frustration continuesYou only get the early Metro edition which doesn’t have the latest news or sports scores. Why can’t they update it? Once again one of the editions wouldn’t download and tech support was useless. They said they’d get back within 24 hours when the paper would be useless and they never did call back. As other readers have indicated the paper downloads with random blank pages. It took multiple calls to tech services before they understood the problem and the problem still persists. ✓ DEFECTIVE APP - DOES NOT WORK SINCE ios UPDATEDay after day, week after week, you can keep clicking on the latest edition and nothing will happen. They have your money but you don’t have any product. NYDN certainly should seriously consider a reimbursement and a withdrawal of the application from the App Store. They know about the failure, but do nothing. Perhaps it’s the beginning of the end for the Daily News. If NYDN were publicly traded I would do a deep dive into their financials and maybe short the stock. Unfortunately, their parent company went private in May 2021––so all we can do is enjoy the useless application. smh.Version: 3.9.3
