✓ AmazingDefinitely the best app I've bought for iPad. I was gutted when i was trying to convert my vuze files to itunes, then transfer those converted files to the ipad, literally took days.... This beauty allows easy transfer of video files when connected by cable or via wifi (which is rapid), taking minutes, tops. Also, the customisability of 'tap' functions is vast, allowing you to alter 1, 2 and 3 finger taps, double taps, drags and swipes in various directions to a massive range of functions to suit you and your needs!! Glad I did , its a great AP that allows you to watch downloaded films on your Ipad then via the appropriate leads watch them on your tv if you want . I use the wifi transfer which is quick and simple to use. I now don’t have to convert movies to Apple format to watch on my ipad. ✓ Problem transfering using Wifi?Just bought app. Entered the address given into my pc to enable wifi transfer, but this address wont open? What is the problem please? The main reason I bought the app was to transfer movies without having to bother hooking up to iTunes and if this continues not to work then I probably will never use it and will have wasted my money. Update- Address has been changed and now works. Wont play hd files well at all- but pretty sure its cos I have first gen iPad. ✓ An absolute gem.This app has definitely had its ups and downs and I have always kept an eye on this app during the latter because I knew it would always come back to being one of the most must-have apps on the iPhone and the iPad. And the current version holds the title for building upon success. Plays a wide array of formats which can be found in the description, there is almost no video or even music format that can cannot be played. Whether it is the common ones: mp4 or avi or flv or mkv, it can be played here smoothly and without glitches. An amazing addition is the editing that can be done to the video you are watching. If the video is dark and cannot be brightened by the device, in-house setting allow you to change brightness, saturation etc; there is also an option in case the audio and video do not sync; changing the delay in those settings should fix it. And there are a huge amount more features that are just as amazing. I HIGHLY recommend this app. Seriously. If you own an iPad or even an iPhone, AV Player is a must have and definitely worth the money..Version: 2.40

✓ Video for the iPadLiterally what video for the iPad should be. So easy to get videos on to the device, and plays them great. Had a fail with a 720p video, and perhaps the default gestures should be fewer, but overall great! The available gestures are extensive, but so many of them are on by default that when I first started wiping the screen it caused my video to do all kinds of things. I have since reduced my gestures to only 2: double tap for UI, and 2 finger swipe right to left for go back 10 seconds. TL;DR well with buying if you want to watch video on the iPad..Version: 1.422

✓ Missing one more feature!This is easily one of the best apps on my iPad however there seems to be one feature that's missing. I often play videos through my TV using the HDMI connector kit and so if I want to rewind,etc I have to get up and walk up to the iPad to control the video. I think that it would be fantastic if you added the ability to control the video with an additional iPhone / iPod Touch. Whether it be a Wifi / Bluetooth feature built into this current app or a separate app, I think that this feature would be really useful and one that a lot of people would find useful. ✓ The best media playerI hate to convert my videos to watch them on my device and I have a big data base of movies and amines. This player saved me a lot time. I tested any kind of videos with different formats and different resolutions and bit rates, it can play most of them smoothly. I don't know whether they are using the iPad 2 dual core capabilities or not but the outcome is very good. It seems to have some difficulties with HD videos of some of the formats but fine with the others. One of my files with 1080 resolution and 4k bit rate plays very good while one 720 with lower bit rate runs with a bit of lag. Overall the best video player for iPad. I use the http transfer to move my files wirelessly and it works great. I found that I need to turn on screen mirroring before the tv button will send the video to my apple tv. Just dragged seven movies over from Windows Media Player, that I'd recorded from my TV tuner. ✓ Best App For Playing Media There IsI used many apps and wasted money trying to find an app that'll play all files from mkv to avi and thus us the best without doubt. Others have problems with some sound files, others being hit and miss on the sound & video syncing but avplayer hd seems to tick all these boxes with no troubles. There are three things I would personally love them to work on and that is the ability to use the app to stream from media sharers such as the Verbatim Mediashare Wireless, have the ability to transfer a video file from one iPad/iPhone to another and also to work on the transfer speeds over wifi from computer to iPad as presently they are so slow it makes it pointless. The ability to speed up shows without pitch change works great and means I can squeeze a whole episode in on my train ride. Controlling picture, subs, and audio channels works well. ✓ I am not easily impressed, but.......I use my iPad for work, which has now removed the need for paper notes, however my company regularly puts out videos for customer presentation and training and they have always used the wmv format. I was looking for a conversion utility and they were all around $20 to $30 and all took time and my laptop to do the conversion. It was a "no brainer" and I have to say perfect for what I was looking for as all i need to do is just drop it into my iTunes and sync. ✓ Great app with room for improvementThis application is great and does for most part what it is intended to do however I think there is much room for improvement. For example: -Capitalizing words when editing or naming files and folders. -The interface could be improved upon a little to make navigation a little easier like a file structure tree as I see most of the screen being empty and unused when finding files to play and possible drag and dropping of files. -Better optimization for the HDMI output to TVs. I found subtitles tend to cause the video to jerk around a little and some subtitles for whatever reason tend to just display as "...". Also I don't know how this will play out with the new iOS 5 but the current notifications seem to mess up the HDMI output as well forcing me to close the app and restart it to get things back on track. A great app and I am sure if it is improved upon it has great potential to become the default media player for iOS devices now and in the future. New hardware from apple will only make this easier to achieve later down the track so I would think that making the app optimized for the hardware a big thing to look at. 4 stars for a great app that works great and has lots of potential. ✓ Awesome but minor flawsAfter using this app for two months, it has been magnificent for transferring my movies and tv shows from my computer without downloading any stupid file converter which never works. However I have recently uploaded a tv show that is .mkv 720p (1280x720) onto my iPad and have been greatly disappointed by the slight pauses when it is playing sort of like a low frame-rate or buffeting, i think it is caused by the slow buffering system within the app. The video works perfectly on my computer high res and no buffeting of the movie. ✓ Pretty darn goodPlays avi files from hobbyking hd camera. Shame it doesn't work without the use of the computer making it not mobile on a mobile device. Would be cracking if it could convert without needing this. Plays the 1080p files darker than the originals and the quality is not the same by some stretch. Would get a 5* rating otherwise but deserves 4* as there is nothing out there that comes close. How about being able to just plug in my sd card and convert them without needing my pc? ✓ MKV is choppyThis app works pretty good but playing HD mkv formats it does seem to lag a bit, perhaps it needs some kind of buffering feature, have not tried any avi files as the point of purchasing this app was for the ability to play mkv and other HD movies. This is the iPad 2 so I would have thought the hardware capabilities would be adequate. I guess the price was right though and the interface is very easy to navigate and I do like the password protect and folder creation features. I'm giving it 4 stars and hope that an update is done soon to deal with the lagging of HD movies. With this new update the app takes advantage of the iPad 2's dual core processor hence it now plays my 720p videos flawlessly, no slowdowns! I then tried to install all I could find video players from App Store that claims can play mkv. After comparing results I was stunned how badly it can look on some of them, stuttering, missing frames, missing sync, etc. At last I ve tried AVPlayer and it was awesome, no problems encountered, files playing as they should, subtittles displayed correctly, no delays, no sync issues, I think they achieved it by using clever buffering technology (speed slider on the right), but it definetely works. ✓ What iv always wanted :)This app is everything you could ever want to transfer and watch all your favourite movies on the go using your iPad! Its been a godsend when its come to camping trips with the kids! Its so quick and easy to do too, although I couldn't seem to get it work via USB so i transferred movies from my laptop to my iPad via WiFi, in just under 3minutes I transferred a 90min movie, and the video and sound quality is better than I could imagine! What's even better is movies can be categorised & put into individual folders. ✓ Best player on the marketWell worth purchasing if you own an iPad 2 and want to play MKV's flawlessly. For those people complaining about it not playing the on the original iPad, it helps if you read the description and realise that this new version uses the extra processing power the iPad 2 has to play MKV's! Wi-Fi transfer is a nice touch, and useful if you happen to be at a friends with no USB cable, however it is pretty slow if you are transferring a movie which could be up to 10 GB. ✓ Probably the best HD player currently available for iPad.I was fortunate to have grabbed VLC before it was pulled, and that was great as a simple media viewer but lacked a few features, such as explicit subtitle support and proper HD support. This app fills those gaps and more. Don't have any 1080p media but 720p plays perfectly. Only thing I could suggest is the addition of thumbnail view option for media, as VLC had. However, it is a pain that all your movies added will be counted as part of the app's data by iTunes auto backup. I really can't afford the long backup time and all the wasted hard drive spaces due to this issue. ✓ Great player...But...The new version's hybrid decoder caused problems with a number of videos, while only improving performance with one. I have turned it off now, and performance now similar to the old version. One badly encoded mkv from one of my original blurays, a 4.5gb video for a 1hr 40min film, played badly before ... but now plays perfectly with the hybrid decoder. Problems varied between not playing at all, hideous stuttering, or strange artefacts on screen. This is on an iPad 3. I realise specifics of the codec used for each video will have an impact, but it would be nice if the player could detect such issues and revert to a software decoder as a result. Again no issues, and playback as per the previous version, with hybrid decoder turned off..Version: 1.50

Videos of all formats transfer in no time and play perfectly, no long winded conversion process, just browse, click and it uploads. ✓ Plays media files with no fuss!I wanted to give AV Player HD a little trial run before writing a review, it’s delivered when playing media (MKV AVI) files over the last 3 weeks, no problems. AV Player has a simple to use interface with gestures that we’re all familiar with, good options for screen size, colours, contrasts and sounds. I haven’t tired file transfer via the other options (Wi-fi etc.), it’s been so simple with I-Tunes that I haven’t looked into it. For the price of £2.00 (I think) it’s a great deal (Fast food cost more and delivers less). ✓ Great app!Great way to upload all your videos without having to convert to mp4. Only issue is that when played through the Digital AV Adapter, the screen still stays at 4:3 on a widescreen TV (Unlike the "Videos" app which will naturally expand to 16:9). Therefore you have to change settings on the TV to make the picture fill the screen, it is not done automatically. Maybe this could be in a future update? Other than that, no problems! Some give jerky motion on HD files or lack sound if in AC3 & DTS multichannel sound. This plays all my 720p HD files in MkV, xvid, mp4 and similar with AC3 or DTS sound flawlessly with smooth playback and clear sound. ✓ Best player for iPadA great player but some annoying issues that let it down. In 2.0 you need to specify the language for .SRT files otherwise they will not show correctly as subtitles. The only way to change this is to click on the SRT file in the file list and select the language at the bottom of the screen. This is not documented in the software. Unfortunately as others have found the audio support is a problem in this new version. It seems that some audio codecs are broken or not supported or have been removed. If licensing is an issue why not add it as a paid option for those us that need the codec..Version: 2.0
