✓ Good but...The app is great when it comes to playing files of any type, and I can’t remember ever having trouble reproducing a video. However, PLEASE fix the bug about not being able to go real full screen on the iPad Pro - as mentioned on other reviews (and this seems to have been outstanding for a while now) the app will always display time, date, WiFi/battery indicator at the top of the screen, and the iPad Pro white menu bar at the bottom; it’s impossible to remove it from the interface, and it is incredibly distracting when you’re trying to enjoy your movie. Recently it even started displaying a second (!!) white bar at the bottom of the screen for whatever reason, making it even more difficult to zone into a movie. Please fix this, it should be a no brainer to be able to have full screen view on a video playback app, and it’s certainly something that’s available on apps such as Netflix..Version: 2.91

✓ Bring back the old colour scheme. Otherwise good.Had this app for years. Always been very happy. Easy to use. Easy to load movies. However - cannot stand new colour scheme. Surprisingly the change in colour scheme has had a big impact. It's harder to see in low light and bright daylight. Also, the new small symbols and icons are closer together than previously - making it harder to read/ use quickly. A new UI doesn't always mean that you must change everything. Please bring back the black/darker colour scheme or at least create a new setting option where this can be customised. Thanks.Version: 2.0

And they all link to the same low res screenshot . And it doesn't even list all files in a directory. ✓ Good app, can't handle 1080pI used to use this app often on iPad 2, but now with iPad retina display thus app is irrelevant. Even with the latest update that claims to support hardware decoding, my 1080p files will not play properly. Yet they play just fine if I mux them and add them to the iPad the normal way. Which is what I recommend you do if you deal with 1080p or full bit rate 720p files. It's still a choice app for other video files, even though the interface is clunky. There may be better ones out there, but I haven't looked. If your app can't play 1080p files because we know you can't access the video hardware, don't try to tell your potential customers that you have solved this problem by references to "H/W decoding"..Version: 1.50

✓ Used to be my favourite player - now I never use it (edit 20 Mar 2012)After my previous review in December last year, I've now binned this product because of lack of response to user requests. It's likely many others have done the same thing. At least I explained what I wanted, waited for a significant period for updates to fulfill my wish list, but nothing has happened. So into the bit bucket it goes. There is at least one good player out there that meets all my needs, but this is not it. I hope the developers read this! -------- end edit ------ This app needs some serious upgrading or it's going to be a waste of space on an idevice. Seriously, FTP for uploading from computer to ipad??? How 1970's. Who uses FTP these days? Add SMB and DLNA streaming and SMB downloading or be relegated to the bottom of the pile. Add a Preamp boost for those files with low audio levels. This used to be my favourite player when i first got my Ipad1. The on-screen video interface is still one of the best around But that isn't enough these days. ✓ Decent player, but...I was recommended this app by a friend, and it seems to be excellent. However, I've only transferred one episode of something to watch and I'm already noticing a problem. I'm not 100% sure why, but with .mkv files, subtitles come and go. Sometimes they're there, other times they aren't. It seems to be when the font changes on the subs, in this case they decided to go with italics for when someone is thinking or when someone offscreen is talking. Hopefully this could be looked into, otherwise I'll have to be very selective with what I want to watch (something without subtitles at least!).Version: 1.41
✓ Used to be great :(Used to be the greatest video app for iPad/iPhone. It was pretty robust and you’re allowed you to just Wi-Fi transfer and files as needed. The app stopped working with iOS 16 I don’t know why. No, the sound acts wonky and has been so for a few months now. The website doesn’t look like it’s been updated in a very long time, and the app hasn’t been updated in two years. ✓ Ugly, so very very uglyWell, it works. It supports a variety of formats and makes use of the dual cores in iPad 2, an ability which VLC obviously lacked since it was removed from sale before release of iPad 2. However, this app has the most sinfully ugly UI I've seen in a long while. It's simply gross! Why the developer felt the need to design his own interface controls rather than using the stock iOS ones is beyond me. The controls really look just awful! Further, the completely arbitrary use of gestures in this app just serves to further complicate it's use and at least should be turned off by default. Overall, I am very dissatisfied with this app. The interface is ugly and overly convoluted, the whole app looks like it was made by a Windows developer. It does the job it's supposed to do, but not at all in an elegant or pleasurable way. Thumbs down from me I'm afraid!!.Version: 1.41

✓ A once great app and leader in its category is now tired and dated ....most notably ..........it is very basic and tedious when it comes to wirelessly downloading files. Having to select each file individually, no directories, no way to name ftp servers......omg..... Please developers, look at nPlayer, yes I know it's more expensive, but this is what you need to aspire to. AVPlayer is fine if you are stuck in 2012 and transfer all your media via USB cable. ✓ Please FIX Mkv playback!!!Avplayerhd was the best media player on the ipad as it supported all formats without converting files and had a great interface. As a film lover having an app that also supported subtitles was awesome.i used to go on holiday with my trusty AvplayerHd and loads of film and Tv loaded on my ipad to enjoy. BUT Since the last two updates playing MKV's has been hit and miss. You try play a file and it hangs for 10 seconds and does nothing! i've tried everything, restarting the app, restarting my ipad but nothing. the app is practically useless as all the HD content comes in this format. Used to recommend it to everyone to get the most out of your ipad especially if you have a retina screen. Developers PLEASE !! address this issue as all the new features added recently mean squat if the app can't play mkv files. ✓ Update has ruined appI was really happy with this app BEFORE the update. The only thing missing is a Repeat and AB Loop function. This new update has ruined a perfectly good app. 1. The user interface is awful, it takes 3 clicks the access the browser. 2. The play/scrub bar is now half the size of the screen, whereas previously it was the width of the whole screen. How is that an improvement? It makes it really difficult to scrub to a specific scene. 3. The play/pause/stop buttons are also in a non intuitive location, as is the volume control which is hit and miss, you press it and the UI turns off too quickly. 4. The iPad screen doesn't automatically turn off anymore after the movie has finished playing. So when I'm watching a movie in bed I wake the next morning to find the iPad still turned on and drained of power. I hope your engineers fix these "improvements" quickly. ✓ It's getting deleted today after 18 months.This was my first ever app purchase, bought the same day I bought my ipad. It was perfect, it played every flv file without a problem, and I have 1,000's of flv's! I used it every day and it was an amazing app. Then they tinkered with it, they brought out v.2 and that was the end of my flv's. At first the sound was out of synch by half a second or so. Another update to fix it, and the sound became out of synch by 9 seconds!!??!! Now I see in their description that flv isn't mentioned as a supported file format. Why have you done this? I just tried to play a good quality flv and the screen goes into grey pixels every 15 seconds, the sound is completely off and then it crashes. Thanks for that. At least I got 18 months of use out of my purchase. But it's getting deleted today. And to think the money from my purchase contributed to the development that killed it for me. ✓ Great alternative to converting videos but hate the new UIHas always worked great for me and I use it a lot. Due to my job and working nightshift I get a lot of time to watch videos and can watch five or six hour-long TV episodes at a time. Battery performance is great. The only reason it loses the start was the fact it does not support airplay very well. The only way to play videos over airplay is by selecting mirroring. Probably this is the leaves the bars down the side of the screen or leaves you with a very funny aspect ratio which is A pain to sort out. Update: the latest update introduced a new UI. I don't like it. I find it confusing and prefer the old one, harder to see what you have watched. Also have had a couple of complete freezes meaning I had to restart the ipad. ✓ Audio issues on ios16.1Apple IOS 16.1 seems to have led this app to some issues. Audio seems to echo and go out of sync. Update : after many many years of trusted use still the best media player out there. Working great on IOS 14 on M1 processor much as it did on single digit IOS. A must have player 2nd to none. Most recent update has definitely improved HD play back on the iPad mini. Overall still the leader in a crowded pack. Love this app and is really user friendly and nice looking simple interface. I have bought a number of media players over the years but have to admit this one is the best playing anything thrown at it without any issues. Developer has managed to license the AC3 audio codec so thats good as most "back-ups" have AC3 audio. otherwise a flawless app with really good interface where you can program touch screen gestures to pause, play change video and volume.. I have stuck with this one now for some years and they have never let me down. even pulling app for a short period while they sorted out a dispute rather than removing features like other developers did..Version: 2.95
