✓ DisappointedI recently purchased the new version, hoping to bypass the problems I've had with this version (and now received a refund). The main issues are lack of a manual for iOS version. Poor (unintuitive) interface. Bugs, crashes. I appreciate the effort (and risk) that solo developers make to produce great ideas like this. However I'm not a database expert, and I've been led to believe this would be easier to master than I've actually found. The crashes didn't help. As an interface designer, I think a lot more effort could have been made (it's confusing when common database terminology is changed and then marketed to novice users without offering any guidelines to understand the relational aspects of linking "tables" using "form design" as the means to view data. Tap Forms will get there eventually if paying users continue to demand and suggest improvements, but I'd rather move on..AnakowiVersion: 4.0.7

✓ Nice, but unstableThis app is simple to learn and easy to use, but onfortunately it crashes often from me since I made a databasen with a pick list (may not bet he cause). I will certainly increase my rating if a subsequent update corrects the crashing..MettadasVersion: 2.0.2

✓ App good but syncing failsHave used the app for some time and it’s a worthy replacement for Bento but on the latest version syncing with ipad is really difficult. I’ve tried in Nearby mode which simply did not work and very reluctantly I signed up for Cloudant and after much hassle got it to work - hoorah! If you want to sync between iMac and iPad the process needs to be a lot slicker. At present it’s a nightmare..Arthur999Version: 4.0.7

✓ Like it but frustrated sometimesWish that when I make a new field on a form, that it will show the entire title description (longer sentences) on the finished form. Also sometimes hard to locate things when making a new form, because of how everything is set up and described in the program, I think one field type will do what I want it to, or the field settings I can change what I need to to make it work right and its not what I thought it should do. Takes a great deal of playing around. There has to be a slightly better set up or easier way. But I like it and I like the idea of what it can do!.StnkgtVersion: 3.0.3

✓ Crash, crash and more crashesIt all looks very appealing, but the thing keeps crashing on a regular basis and there is no response from the so called email support. I have tried several times, but no response. Also, it is very limited in a number of ways and not as flexible as the make it out to be. ✓ Needs workIt works as advertised, but needs refinement. For example, syncing is fiddly and needs to be done manually. You're always waiting for it to update. Changes appear eventually, not instantly. (Only data syncs, not app settings.) This is a personal database. It does work for multiple devices, but not for multiple accounts/users. Basically, it's a replication architecture, not client server. Note that it is a single database with multiple tables. You can't have separate databases. You can organize tables within the database via categories. Unfortunately, lookup tables are shared so naming them can get tricky. That's the trade off with one database holding diverse categories of information. Navigation is awkward and there are bugs, not showstoppers but annoying. The best aspect is that it's very customizable and has (perhaps too) many features. I believe the developer is one person. His dedication is commendable, but he needs help with the interface and design. It looks and feels dated. The whole thing could probably do with a rewrite, and it would benefit from some streamlining. All that said, it is the best of its kind available. It's clunky and limited in scope, but it does work and is feature rich. Reporting would be nice, but I'd rather see what's already there polished up first..WebvexVersion: 4.0.6

✓ Useful, but needs a lot of polishThis app does exactly as advertised, and if you are looking to track various bits of simple information from the provided templates, you are not likely to have too many problems with it. However, if you want to do anything beyond the simplest record creation, you will likely notice the app has some bugs, and some annoyances that make the experience of taking full advantage of the app unpleasant. I've seen odd, but reproducible crashes when I accidentally tap two buttons in different panels at once, which usually happens to me while I'm moving through the various menus, and accidentally brush something with another finger. When designing forms, the app does not update any changed fields when you close the editing pop up, nor when you make changes to the underlying record; you have to specifically change records in order to see the changes to the form. It is especially troublesome if you happen to change field types. If you have a lot of fields on a form, and need to reorganize them, dragging them around in the list causes various problems, where fields get confused with each other, and gaps appear in the list. Restarting the app seems to fix the problem, so long as you don't drag items long distances. And a major personal annoyance is that the note field pops up a box to put text in, and it is skipped over in the tab order. Multi-line edit field, anyone? I also think the whole process of creating and editing fields could be streamlined more, but the current method is functional, if awkward. A good round of polish and bug fixes, and this could be a really great app. If you need to make custom forms, though, I would recommend looking elsewhere for the time being..KmcclearyVersion: 2.1.11

✓ Not Very Happy!While I think this is a great idea I have found a problem in the system which I have alerted the designer to. Very positive reaction to start with - quick response and attempt to find the solution then when it got a little difficult all has gone quiet! Will not do what I require it to do. The problem I find is when you link sheets eg buyer to seller it works sometimes when you tap the link but at other times it just crashes. I feel that with a genuine issue with the app there should be regular communication while attempting to solve the problem and a refund if it cannot be solved. The solution is not to just go quiet! However, I am completely bewildered why a developer would go to so much trouble to create good software and then ignore the need for helpful instructions on its use. ✓ It worksThis database app does not come up to the Bento standard we were used to a few years back. Yes, it does what it's supposed to do but the iPad version is very different to the desktop. Layout does not sync in the same format and looks as though it's still in development. ✓ Just buy it!So simple to use, easy to setup, awesome iCloud integration. Use it on my phone at work to track my service calls with the appointment tracking database I created. Uses your built in contacts and lets you create new contacts without leaving the app. There are drop down fields, calendar, pictures, notes and i use the calculation fields to add up the charges. I can even email copy of the record to my customer to show the charges. I Also have Mac version and iPad version, when I'm at my office I can enter new appointments, sync to the cloud and they are on my phone when I leave. ✓ GoodThere is no doubt that this program has advanced database abilities. You can save search criteria to reuse again. You can do a search through all databases or just within the one you're in. It has a very rich set of field types including audio and relational. I wish it had some of the features of Bento which was discontinued. That had the ability to design form layouts. It also had a very useful List view that showed many columns of data and a full form view below it. I'd give Tap Forms a 5 rating if it had those very desirable features. It also would be nice to sync locally from your iPhone / iPad to the Tap Forms on a Macbook over Wi-Fi instead of having to go through iCloud..JohnF9Version: 3.9.2

✓ I was warned, now you are too.Tap Forms crashes a lot. Would like to go 2 1/2 stars because there is huge potential here. It just isn't very stable right now. There seems to be a niche for this type of application and there doesn't appear to be a lot of competition yet. There is HanDBase, it was buggy on the Palm Pilot and it sounds like it still is. Bento which isn't as feature rich as Tap Forms. Finally FileMaker Go on the high end. Tap Forms is every bit as good looking as Bento, I think, and if Tap Forms can deliver the goods it could be a strong contender at this price range. Other database applications are sure to come, after all, it looks like the iPad is going to stay around for a while. let's hope that the next release of Tap Forms is stable..GOrr75Version: 2.0.2
