✓ HistoryI would put 5 star but for one really awful design flaw. Please include a ‘would you like to save?’ Prompt when you hit the gallery button. The amount of times irreversible changes have been locked in because I accidentally tapped the tiny Gallery button instead of the tiny wrench button next to it is headache-inducing. Otherwise, an incredible app. But held back by an easily fixable flaw..Version: 5.2.2
✓ The new update :/I’ve used Procreate for over a year, and it’s been a real charm. I love the unique options and layout and I love pretty much everything about it. It’s easy to navigate, and you can even share your art in different file types! However, this new update has left me with a slightly more disappointed feeling. For the most part, the update hasn’t affected me, and I’ve still been able to navigate through it clearly, however there’s this one feature that makes me want to rip my head off. The brush size relative to canvas. Oh my god, please make it optional. I’ve already heard a lot of backlash on that feature and didn’t think it was too bad until I tried it myself. A lot of digital artists zoom in, still WANTING the same brush size just so they can continue their lineart. I zoom in a lot and move the canvas about, that doesn’t mean I want the brush to be smaller or bigger. Please make an optional zoom lock because in the simplest way, it’s annoying, and a nightmare..Version: 5.2.1
✓ Stability issues, getting stuck in transforms, random crashes. Still the best.Love procreate and use it as my main drawing program, as of late however I’m finding it less than stable. Regular crashes, closing randomly as well as getting stuck transforming selection and unable to exit transforming to continue drawing resulting in having to close and open again. In general it’s just crashing a lot more often. Fantastic program however minus the stability issues. There’s also missing a few abilities lacking compared to other drawing programs that can be a little frustrating keeping you from just using procreate. I’d love if transforms could be symmetrical, if you could do tile mirroring (as in x and Y are mirrored so you can make tiles ie sprite work for example), there’s filter abilities missing too, can’t think of everything off the top of the head. In general though most of the stuff I’d love and nice to haves rather than required. In general I’d love stability to be improved as well as battery use improvements. Lot of faith in Savage though, these guys continually make this program awesome with each update..Version: 5.2.6
✓ ‘Want all features? Buy a device with bigger screen’☹️(I don’t usually write reviews but this seems to be the only way to get my feedback a slim chance of being seen, the thread on this topic in the forum is already three-year old and was marked as ‘released’ so I guess it won’t get a read anymore) Quite annoyed to find out on my own that Colour History is not available on device with a screen smaller than 10 inches😕(hello, 9.7-inch iPad and 8.3-inch iPad mini do exist?) Like, yeah a three-line palette can be fitted under the colour wheel, but ‘not enough space’ for a one-line colour history. I’m using Sketchbook, SketchClub and Fresco on the same device and all three of them have Colour History available, so was not expecting it to be unavailable in this more expensive app. It just feels like I paid the same price for this App yet can’t use all of its features only because I don’t have a device with big screen: ‘want all features? Go & pay £1000 to get a proper device’. May I suggest the developers put in the app description a list of what features are available for devices with different screen sizes, so we users know what to expect before we pay for it, and potentially save us the hassle of finding out on our own. App itself is great, maybe it’s my fault thinking this would be a full upgrade of Sketchbook. ✓ Missing key featuresThis app has the best combination of robust features and ease of use out of dozens of drawing apps I've tried. The brushes are easy to customize and have great variation. Transferring docs to Photoshop is a breeze. All the tools and effects are thorough and well done. The interface is sleek but poorly documented, and I only found out most solutions through forum posts after Googling them as there's no Help documentation. As there's a lot of swiping, tapping, and dragging to reveal tools, this is really, really inconvenient. Even the Fill tool is unique (and cool!), but good luck finding it without a walkthrough. The MAIN ISSUE is that there are some features missing that most other drawing and graphics apps have, that make it incredibly frustrating at times and force me to still have to rely on other apps. *There's NO clipping layer option and you CAN'T crop/resize canvases after creation.* Having to shade without clipping makes me feel like I'm 13 and using MS Paint, but even that lets you change canvas sizes. These are options on almost every drawing app I've used (even back on my iPhone 4) for years now. There's also no text tool and you can't draw shapes, which is definitely a handicap compared to other apps, but not treasonous considering its focus as a painting app. Still, I'd love to rely solely on Procreate for what are usually relatively default features. All in all, my favorite drawing app, but not complete enough to be my only one..Version: 3.2.4

✓ Animation & brushesThe app is really good, the brushes are easy to make, they have a wide variety of pre-made ones and the quality is great. But animation assist needs more frames available. The brushes aren’t good for specific artstyles, and I’m not meaning as in pre-made ones, this goes for all brushes for the art program, it takes FOREVER to find the right brush for your artstyle in procreate, and even ibis paint X (a free art program) has better brushes specific artstyles!.Version: 5.2.9

✓ Very Glitchy After iOS 15 updateI very rarely had problems with Procreate before updating my iPad recently. Now though it has become vey frustrating to use. Now when trying to add a photo, the pop up of my photo albums constantly closes before I get a chance to find & add a photo. It’s not just occasionally… it’s every time I go to add a photo. It also glitches when trying to change the font of your text… after trying out several fonts, it eventually stops updating the text despite the name of the selected font changing. I’ve also experienced new issues just today that I haven’t had problems with before. While using color fill on several different shapes (all on the same layer), it stopped working mid way through and I could not get it to work again without completely closing & then reopening the app. Then while adding a photo through the “add file option” (that I now have to rely on completely as opposed to “add photo” which is usually quicker) … the file/photo would not show up on the canvas… however it was showing in the layer menu. I’ve never had those issues before and the problem resolved itself after another restart of the app. It is very frustrating though because I love this app and use it all the time but now it’s becoming a pain 😣 Please fix!!.Version: 5.1.8
✓ The annoying part.When I draw something, for some reason when I’m drawing, it changes the size even I didn’t move it. So can you please only make one hand or Apple Pencil work a little better? So how about this, when the Apple Pencil touches the Screen first, then the hand can’t be the 2nd one, also when the hand touches the screen first… THEN, the Apple Pencil is not gonna be the 2nd one too, so please and fix this annoying thing. ✓ Amazing, but frustrating.I bought an iPad Pro specifically to get pro create, it has everything I need to get my ideas from my head to the canvas quickly and easily. Brushes are amazing and the workflow is easy and fun. However after the most recent update to version 4 the app constantly freezes whilst I’m in the middle of drawing, sometimes I will have my pen on the screen for a while wether it be colouring or doing linework and it’s quiet frustrating to lose that spontaneous idea in a matter of seconds. Not only does it freeze for about 15 seconds but it then tries to correct its mistake and starts deleting previous lines and colours that I’ve done, without being able to re-do and get this back. At first I lived with it because I love this app so much, and I still do. But recently it’s become quite impossible to use. I hope they find a fix because this app is almost perfect and I plan on using it for many years to come. That aside it’s worth every penny, just not for the impatient!.Version: 4.0.4
✓ ImportantIve been using procreate for about a year and a half now, and i wish there was an option to make a procreate account, because i just accidentally deleted the app, and now all my artworks and imported brushes and fonts are gone and im so dissapointed im on the verge of tears because i was really really proud of some of those artworks. ✓ Has issues that need to be fixed ASAPWhile it is great to draw with, there are a few issues. The main one being the drawing assist lines do not go away after turning the option off, there fore literally ruining my art. I’m pretty sure I’m not doing anything wrong as it’s an on/off switch and that’s all I’m doing and it doesn’t work. ✓ New update issuesI really don’t like the new update…. Everything is glitchy and the motion is really stiff. For example, when I click into an existing artwork, it would go straight into it (whereas the older version used to have a softer transition). This is not the biggest issue however - my biggest problem is with the lasso tool - before when I selected an area and pressed “remove” on the menu at the bottom, it would naturally select whatever that was outside of what I cut out using the lasso. HOWEVER with the new update, for some reason pressing the “remove” button fills the remaining canvas (that was not selected using lasso) with whatever colour that was in my palette already??? How does that even work?? Even worse, when I want to move the art that’s not selected from the lasso, it moves the selected part instead. In my opinion the new version is glitchy and in general a lot worse than before the introduction of the 3D models. BRING THE OLD VERSION BACK!! :(.Version: 5.2.2
✓ Very GlitchyHello. I love your app Procreate and have been using it for a couple of years now, but recently the app has been very glitchy. For one, when I’m working on a piece, it will randomly freeze and to fix this, I have to remove the app from my recently used apps and re-enter it. Also, whenever I select an already existing canvas, the app will crash and the canvas won’t load. And again I have to repeat the process i mentioned earlier. This works but it is tedious and wastes my time. However, there is another problem that has happened just today - I cannot delete my canvases, even when I restart my device and yet again repeat the same process. Please fix these issues soon because I am really considering uninstalling this app. And it’s such a shame too because this app costs money. EDIT: No longer using this app. More glitches have popped and it’s getting in the way of my work now. I complained about them before but support just blew me off. I am not uninstalling however, because: 1) I need to keep all of my artworks 2) This app costs money Not using it until you fix your glitches..Version: 4.3.6
✓ Too many bugs1. The canvas is extremely pixelated compared to apps like adobe draw, which can only be reduced to some extent, but not enough to have images of a quality high enough that they can be used for selling art - as a digital designer I deeply regret buying this and haven’t been able to sell a single piece of art drawn using this app due to the quality issues. 2. This is the only app that saving PNG’s doesn’t work on. It worked initially, and customer service tried to tell me that iPad’s couldn’t save PNG’s with transparent backgrounds if the canvas was over/under a certain number of pixels, but even after altering it this will not work. They also suggested I save it to my files instead - this also didn’t save with a transparent background and the quality was awful. They also failed to explain why it is that, despite not changing anything about the way I draw and save my images, I am suddenly unable to save PNG’s. I have gone back to using adobe’s drawing applications, and would strongly recommend you avoid Procreate..Version: 5.2.9

✓ Worst drawing app I’ve ever usedI heard good things about this app from a few people but I’ve been trying it for about an hour now and it’s absolutely awful I’m very disappointed I spent my Christmas money on this. I wish there was a free version you could try before you waste you money on this. I wish app refunds existed. I’d strongly recommend getting FREE ibisPaint before you waste your money on this. ✓ It’s okGreat app but exporting feature needs improvement. I’m experiencing very long delays when exporting files and sometimes it just doesn’t export at all. Sometimes it tells me I need to sign into the app that I’m trying to export too when I’m already signed in. Another thing which is a MAJOR… we need the ability to export as vector files. ✓ Mixed emotions in Intuitive and fluidity with the Keyboard and trackpad.Procreate has been a great app for artists whether you are an enthusiast, a hobbyist, or even professionals. The tools are great for most situations, Grouping to keep you organized, and not to metnion how great it is with the Apple pencil. Here is my main problem with the app. If you are using with the keyboard for undo, redo, color, layer shortcut, etc, It is amazing, but Keymapping your own keys. would be helpful as I do not prefer doing gymnastics with my index finger trying to press the "B" key. I would love to remap to the "A" Key if I can. Another problem when I was using the magic keyboard case is about the trackpad itself. Navigating with the trackpad is terrible for panning the canvas. I cannot use the two finger pan, but I can Pinch to zoom, but it's a hit or miss, and if I keep trying to pinch, it registers "Undo", which I didn't want to do. There is also a software bug where I try to name the canvas on the starting screen, It does the animation like the usual, but It just aborts the action, which is quite frustrating and I have to open the canvas, go to canvas settings, and rename it there. If these problems are fixed, This would have been the best experience for users who does use keyboard and trackpad or a mouse..Version: 5.2.5

✓ Missing critical time-saving featuresProcreate is the best painting app I have used on iPad, but unfortunately it often prioritises a clean UI over an efficient UI. One feature that this program REALLY needs is the ability to lock tool panels. Currently if you have a tool panel open and then try to paint, the panel closes automatically. This means if you want to go back into the panel you have to re-click on the icon. One click might not seem like a big deal, but it is when you have to do that click every 5 seconds or how ever often you want to change your colour... I can understand wanting to save screen space on smaller mobile devices, but on the iPad Pro I have plenty..Version: 4.0.10

✓ Could have been betterSo I decided to test the Procreate waters after a few of friends who are professional arts touted it as being ‘amazing’ As someone who has used almost every drawing software, these are the reasons for my 3 stars: 1. The stabilisation tool could have been loads better. There should an option/ mechanism which lets you slow down the strokes drawn. I am yet to come across a software that can match Clip studio paint’s stabilisation which offers various levels of stabilisation speeds. 2. The selection tool should be easily accessible with a great ease of use. In this program, it’s a bit of a struggle trying to select parts of your drawing to colour. 3. You can’t reposition layers easily. Other software programs utilise a simple drag mechanism to drag layers to the top or bottom pending on your choice. 4. Absence of smart guides. I Hope to see a massive improvement but for now, I will stick with other programs. Edit: It could have been a lot better if there was an option to create vector layers..Version: 5.2.7
✓ Not Reliable For Real WorkCurrently, Procreate keeps crashing, making it useless. I’m deleting it and finding a more reliable app. I have plenty of memory, a brand new iPad Pro, and the files are nowhere near a stress on the app - I’ve used Procreate for 2 and a half years, so I know these facts. If I’m trying to do paid work, I need an app that ACTUALLY works, and does so reliably. Avoid this app. All the 5.2 update did is make the freezing and lagging worse. If you contact support they will keep implying it’s something you’re doing wrong instead of admitting that the app needs further updates simply to make it usable and reliable..Version: 5.2.1

✓ Wonderful app but very broken since last update.I’ve had a few issues since the last update. Starting with the app crashing as soon as I use my Apple Pencil on the screen right after I’ve just opened the app, but the most frustrating is the app just crashes immediately after using any more than 3 layers or drawing over an area that already has colour down. ✓ Kinda goodProcreate is an awesome app with the capability to mimic many art forms, it’s really good especially for beginner digital artists but I’ve noticed over the years it’s becoming more and more glitchy, slow and generally just degrading. ✓ Would be a good app if it stops freezingThe app is good, been using it for some years. But what frustrates me is with the the recent updates, the app starts freezing. Lines keep breaking due to the glitching and it happens even if you update everything, restart the ipad and has lots of storage. ✓ PROCREATE NOT for the novice digital artistI’m not sure if I’m a complete idiot or it’s one of the most difficult artist apps I’ve ever tried on my iPad but there’s not even a widget or introductory message to help a person with learning about the different things this app can do I mean for someone that has only used traditional pencil and drawing pad for creating I was so excited about getting this iPad pro and the Apple Pencil and buying this amazing new artist app that has taken everyone’s artistry to new levels at least from the reviews and word of mouth that I’ve heard and read so naturally I jumped right into it with both feet and here I sit after an hour of trying and trying and trying I’m no closer to creating a digital coloring page or animating a picture I’ve already drawn on paper or even adding color or correction to one of my original pieces I did figure out how to import a drawing into the app but that’s about it I feel like an idiot…. ✓ 5.3 update leaves old iPad users and 3rd party styli in the dustI loved Procreate initially, it was the reason I bought an iPad and compatible stylus last year - I didn’t have enough funds for a brand new iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil, so I spent ~300 USD on a 5th gen iPad and Bamboo Wacom stylus, both compatible and touch sensitive with Procreate.. the new 5.3 update completely trashed 3rd party styli compatibility - and procreate didn’t warn their users in any way! They are also aware that the App Store won’t allow anyone to revert back to an old version after the auto update… so when emailing customer service, they basically said I’m screwed, and need to get the cash for all new equipment if I want to use their program I paid for.. outrageously rude and inconsiderate, from my view. *They are being generous with such an elite and inclusive art app, and keeping the app -itself- affordable, I do appreciate that - but not notifying anyone and just booting all the poor/budgeting artists out from being able to use the app anymore is kind of classist and absurd. Yes, Apple Pencil is progressing faster than other styli - yet iPads only a few years old can’t use an Apple Pencil. If there was a way to offer an option within the app, to give up some of the new and advanced features, in order to use a 3rd party styli with touch sensitivity.. you could keep all your struggling artists in the net of Procreate appreciation. ✓ I want you to fix this weird bug now!My Apple Pencil works very fine, and then I can’t draw for some weird reason. in procreate I can use my Apple Pencil to choose a drawing tool. Or draw on other apps. It stops working when I just made some drawing on the day that this bug has happened. That day I only just quit this app for some time after drawing. Then come back. And Then I can’t draw. This bug need to be fixed. My Apple Pencil work very fine. There is no problem with my My Apple Pencil. It should work very fine. ✓ A weird glitch/bugAll in all, Procreate is an amazing art app, and I’d recommend it to everyone if interested in digital art, however there a very frustrating glitch that happens to me all the time, I’ll explain: Let’s say I wrote a word on text, and I wanted to make a shadow effect behind it, I’d duplicate it, make it black, and make it look 3D, but whenever I freehand select it, then copy and paste, if I press any other button it would take me out of the app, and I would have to start all over again. I’ve restarted the app a thousand times and deleted the blank pages and starting over again but it’s annoying and it won’t be fixed. I hope that this makes sense, if not, I’ll try to explain in clearer words. 1. I’d write a word using ‘add text’ button. 2. I’d colour that text in a colour, for example, blue. 3. If I want to make a shadow effect behind it/ 3D effect, I’d freehand select it using the loop button ( it’s the button that looks like a ribbon in the corner of the canvas/screen) 4. Once I do that, I would copy and paste it, and try to place it were I want 5. After that, if I press any other button after that, for example: the layer button, it would glitch me out of the app and I would have to start all over again. ✓ Not intuitiveI've been trying to use procreate for a few days now; following videos trying to create new brushes, using layers and importing photos. Yet I’m still no further advanced. I can’t pick a selection and move it around without putting it on a separate layer. Everything I do seems to change the colour of my canvas. I can’t return to my original sketch because it only does about 10 undos, then freezes. This system isn’t at all intuitive. All I want to do is draw a fence around some lettering and move it. I’ve watched video after video and all it is doing is filling in he selection with solid colour. I can’t get off that mode. Half the videos seem to be using an earlier, more straight forward version. I don’t even know what version of procreate I'm using, but I'm frustrated as hell not being able to do simple, straight forward actions. Other than that, it has a lot of settings no other drawing app seems to have..Version: 5.2.2

✓ I love the programme but this one thing still bugs meI have said this before but before i say what i would like to say i still love using this app and think it is pretty good besides this one issue for me and that would be the fact that it is still had limited layers for the size of your work i understand that it may be because some devices cant handle it or whatever but when you get into a piece of work and then are unable to keep going as you have reached the layer limit annoys me yeah some people may not use as many as me but this is still an issue and I hope it get resolved soon or else I’m going to have to find some other app to use.Version: 5.1.5
