Guitar Techniques for Positive User Reviews

Excellent tutorial.GT is a must for learner & accomplished alike. You think that you know it all, then “BLAM.....” something new smacks you right in the chops. Well worth a read..Version: 5.6.3

Great appDon't leave reviews often but have to say I love this app.Version: 5.2.3

GREAT!!This magazine was already very good in paper, but with this app GT is the closest thing to having a bunch of personal guitar tutors...and way cheaper!!.Version: 3.8.3

As good as it gets! From shaky beginnings GT digital has matured into my format of choice. It's just so convenient and no more mislaid magazines or CDs!.Version: 3.6

Great app! This app now has audio and animated music notation that really makes the magazine come to life. A great app!.Version: 2.2

Good for all levelsI am an intermediate player and I have a fairly good understanding of Music Theory. I know those words scare a lot of beginning and advanced guitarist. But the way the theory is presented in Guitar Techniques is painless. Little bits at a time, at your own speed. I Think that anyone wanting to learn some music theory along side the TAB method that this is a great "Text Book" for that..Version: 4.4

Awesome publicationI remember the first time reading this magazine at the Borders magazine rack - and picking up my only print copy for $15! Now on the iPad for $40 a year? There is so much guitar lesson content in each issue. I am a professional guitarist and teacher, and it takes me a while to get through most of an issue. It's a great difficulty level for the more advanced student wanting to get a very broad skill-set and familiarity with the instrument. I would enjoy if the slight blues/rock default tendency were toned down a bit and more acoustic and different world styles were brought in more often. But each magazine issue leaves you more satisfied than 90% of the guitar "books" that are out there. And big props for including the left hand fingering on most of the standard notation. Would be better if they included position markings as well, for those trying to wean themselves off of tab. That fifth star would be if they add in a more interactive music player, with slow-down capability, and the ability to zoom in on the tab when in the player..Version: 3.1.6

Best guitar magazineThe best magazine. Definitely subscribe to it. 10/10 Great articles and you will learn a lot From the magazine. Great teachers. Subscription price worth every cent..Version: 6.0.17

Brilliant MagI love this mag out of all the ones on the circuit. So easy to follow. Bags of content. Keep up the good work.Version: 4.9.1

The best no BS straight down to business Guitar TechniquesI’ve purchased all guitar mags and even though we all look at the ads most of them are beefed up ads with no real content. This mag is the best one out there I know of. Every issue is packed with loads of guitar riffs and techniques. I’d have to say this is the best guitar mag for any guitar player..Version: 5.2.3

Mr CThis is an amazing magazine. I pay 3 times the amount for the paper version and the cd but this format is so much simpler and as easily accessible. You can read and listen to it anywhere you are (so portable). With the links included everything is so easy to view..Version: 3.7.2

Awesome magazineThe British know how to do magazines. Guitar Techniques is well written, contains lots of informative lessons, and the videos bring it all together. I'm glad it's on News Stand because it's much cheaper and easier to get to here on my iPad..Version: 3.8.3

Love itGreat app except it crashes a bit and has to be reopened. Like the interactive capabilities and varied lessons . Great app to have.Version: 5.2.2

Great magazine on IPadThis is by far the best guitar magazine app..Version: 3.6

You just made this app GREAT!!!At long last, you get all the benefits of the regular mag! I love that you can finally get an audio clip for the tab. I will renew my subscription for this..Version: 2.0.2

The BEST guitar magazine. The best guitar magazine in the world, is made much more convenient and easier to read and access all audio and video files by this app. I just love it, and truly use it daily to learn, get inspired, and motivate myself to practice..Version: 6.4

Best guitar mag everWhenever I head to my local bookstore and check out the new issues of all the guitar magazines they're all 90% fluff and 10% actual content. This magazine is the exact opposite. There are so many amazing lessons in every issue. From theory to fully tabbed songs to practice licks and phrases. I love the playable tab and videos that are incorporated in the issues now. Also the price point is much more friendly through newsstand. It's a win all around. If you love playing the guitar do yourself a favor and pick it up. The one criticism I have is purely selfish on my part. I'm still a beginner and it does feel like the magazine is generally geared more towards advanced lessons. I'd like a touch more material for people starting out..Version: 3.8.3

Great digital magazineI think the content and magazine layout is superb. The digital version works well in that you have everything always with you, in that you can read the articles, and play the example tracks at the same time. One thing that would be nice, is to have a backing track version of all the samples we are learning. Oh and maybe a few more interview features with different guitarist. But I do think this is s great magazine, keep rocking..Version: 4.4.1

Guitar Techniques MagI've been receiving this excellent magazine via post for quite some time and have recently tried it digitally on my iPAD! My understanding is that the only problem with doing it digitally is that you won't get your hands on the excellent CD's that are included with post deliveries. This Mag does what it promises, there is a real variety of Music Styles, also at varying degrees of ability for the reader, there is also even enough to keep the Seasoned Pro Musician challenged throughout this Masterpiece Educational Magazine. The Slogan they use "WE'LL MAKE YOU A BETTER PLAYER", it really shows that these guys mean what they say! I love this Mag and highly recommend it for all players....Version: 2.0

Great instructionBeen playing for 30 plus years and still find something to take with me from every issue...love the iPad version! only is that I could download audio and keep it as an audio file away from wifi!.Version: 3.7.2

Great. Just GREAT, :-)I'm a fan of the mag on iPad. Instant play lessons. And it stops that six foot high pile of magazines I have in the corner of my room getting any higher..Version: 3.6

Great contentReally enjoy my subscription that I've had for a year. Only feature that I would enjoy more is having the ability to mix jamup pro or other iOS guitar effect processor in with backing track in magazine..Version: 3.6

Great Magazine!I wish I could have some links to replace the CDs....Version: 2.1

Guitar Techniques ForeverThere is no better monthly magazine for enthusiasts. No other publisher provides the consistency and quality of content as GT..Version: 3.6

Great appThis is a great app. It allows you to display the magazines clearly one page per screen and has features with audio and video but I’m much more interactive than buying the magazine on paper. Back numbers are also available. All in all just great..Version: 5.2.3

Get ItReally good perfect with audio. To the guy with no sound turn your mute off !.Version: 2.1

Fantastic App5 stars all the way!! Killer content, love that the sound bites and jam tracks are built into the articles. Great job!!.Version: 5.2.3

Best by FarThe best magazine by far if you're on the learning guitar path and, particularly, if you're interested in learning about different and varied genres of guitar music. Massive amount of new material to get through each month..Version: 5.2.3

Great mag great appI am a pro player and I always find a ton of stuff that is either new or has a different perspective and something that I already knew and also great exercises..Version: 3.6.5

Must haveBrilliant mag, I was always kind of against digital mags as I've had physical copies for years but now I've been converted. This digital mag is a must have for guitarists, I'm reading via iPad and the quality is outstanding, and it's cheaper than the physical version. Couldn't recommend enough, these guys are top quality, professional, musicians and all transcriptions & scores cannot be faulted. You'd be a fool not to subscribe..Version: 3.7.2

Great ideas and content. One of my fav mags and especially awesome on iPad..Version: 5.2.3

Love it'sIt's awesome, just a small complaint....either make the cover larger or list the content more completely. I hadn't picked up last month yet until I saw at the newsstand Robben Ford and John Squire were both inside. I bought the digital issue immediately after I got home....Version: 3.6

Great Publication Print and DigitalRecently started reading the print version and was thrilled to learn about the digital version with some cool audio and video features. They have made upgrades and appear to listen to readers needs. Pretty cool overall..Version: 3.6

It's awesomeThis is a great magezine.Version: 3.1.8

Much better than in printWish this was in this format 10 years ago but eh it didn't exist. Good work.Version: 3.8.1

FantasticGreat magazine ideal for guitarists at any level..Version: 3.6.5

Best way to take lessons, best guitar magThis is the best guitar mag omg I can't believe I only have to pay 5$ a month...less! then that, a copy of this magazine goes for about 20$ on here a copy is only 3.99 bottom-line 5/5 stars.Version: 3.6

FantasticAll the audio and video worked perfect, a real pleasure. Though offline none of this works, that is to be expected given the limited memory of these devices. A feature I would really like to see is the ability to save a particular backing track into the music folder, for easy reference. This is probably the only disadvantage over the hardcopy version with CD..Version: 2.1

Great Instruction ToolI'm a digital user, god knows I carry enough paper and other stuff into work every day. This magazine helps bridge a gap in my learning and changing in a positive way. Good articles and instruction techniques..Version: 3.8.1

Latest update doesn't workApp freezes. This is on the 8.4.1 iOS iPad gen 4. I've used the app for over a year. Removing the app, restarting, and reinstall seemed to solve the problem.Version: 4.2.1

I love the audio and video featuresGuitar Techniques is a great monthly online subscription, I find myself reading from cover to cover and playing along with the song transcriptions backups and lessons with audio and videos. The ability to resize the screen while concentrating on a part or to hear the part played with full backing track is invaluable to me for keeping up my playing chops and learning new techniques. I had been buying the newsstand magazine until I discovered the iPad version, now that I subscribe to the online version I can keep a large amount of the magazines on my iPad or archive my collection and call them back up when I need to look at them again. I save space when I am on airplane trips across country as I can use my iPad for an amp and play along with the magazine through headphones wherever I am..Version: 4.4

Great valueI was a subscriber to the magazine before the app and love having it delivered every month, now with the app I have all the issues stored here online. Such great value with all access and a lifetime of awesome information this is a must have for any guitarist at any level of any style. And trust me after subscribing you will be a guitarist of every style anyway, this app keeps me busy every weekend..Version: 4.9.5

Great digital mag. This is a great magazine and the digital version makes it a lot more affordable. I like how they have added audio. It would be cool if you could download the tracks though..Version: 3.6.5

Music tab and backingI'm very impressed by the videos and articles, just need a bigger iPad.Version: 3.8.3

I respect this publicationI really enjoy the writing; the articles are well-written, focused, and relevant. The lessons - what this mag is ALL about - run through all difficulty levels, and always push my competency level. I look forward to each new edition. I hope that Future stays on the cutting edge with tablet mags. I would like to "see" the backing tracks and example sounds on their originating pages, and not have to flip to a new screen to control them (especially the small examples.). I can see a full page display of a piece of music as appropriate, with a moving placeholder, but the tiny, one-liners... not so much. Keep up the good work!.Version: 3.6

AwesomeSuch a great mag. Love and learn so much from it. Huge fan.Version: 4.9.5

Much Love! This is the best technical guitar magazine in the world. So glad it's digitalized. I would love to see the rest of the back issues with audio someday, but I have a lot of technique to learn from the ones that do, so I am doing just fine..Version: 3.8.1

Best Guitar Magazine 👍Guitar Techniques is full of guitar tuition. Just about every lick or song has a link to see the music and hear how it should be played so learning is very easy. Now GT has video for some lessons as well. The magazine is mostly articles and lots of licks and songs for everyone from beginner to advanced. I have tried them all and the only one I continue to have a subscription for is Guitar Techniques. If you want to keep learning new licks and songs month after month then you should subscribe to this magazine. Update: Guitar Techniques just raised their subscription price and it is still worth every penny..Version: 4.6

A little more content please. As a reader of guitar techniques and guitarist in magazine form I really like this format, the tabs have an audio accompaniment with both backing track and full version, what's not to like ? Only one small moan from me is since the sister mag Guitarist has dropped the theory section I would love it to be included in Guitar Techniques, it's a feature I miss from both magazines. Please Future bring it back , it has helped me enormously..Version: 3.6

Great magazineGreat iPad magazine. The guys are really working at getting the electronic version on parr or better than the physical one. Maybe give us the option to download audio and video for offline use? Keep the updates coming..Version: 3.6

I like itI like the Blues, so I guess it works for me - I subscribed - happy.Version: 3.8.1

It’s a great app only a few improvesGuitar Pro .gpx files needed to download. And the backing tracks to be able to be downloaded all separately. Don’t fear people sharing they can’t share it all. It’s useful for us who play and pay and it’s creates buzz so we say get the magazine it’s great they give you in mag like you do now and they also give you gpx files with all their good tab and backing tracks are awesome. Just an extra few nuggets. You do a great job. Keep it up. Bravo 👏🏻.Version: 6.0.17

Guitar TechniquesThis has really improved over time to become an excellent tutor and practice tool. It contains a huge amount of resources in each issue covering a wide range of genres and ability levels..Version: 4.2.901

AmazingBest guitar magazine I've seen around. They have a lot of content and tabs for how to actually improve and learn guitar rather than just telling you to play cliche jazz licks til your brain turns to mush. Keep up the great work.Version: 4.2.1

Not free, not goodNot only is it not free, it is just a PDF style version of the magazine. Go take a look at GUITARIST, and others that have designed interactive mags that utilize the power of the iOS-- video reviews, lessons, etc. With this trash, you would still have to buy the print version to get the actual lessons, demos, etc. Take this off the shelf until you are actually giving us an electronic mag. GT itself is awesome-- let's get an equally good, interactive version, and I will be the first to subscribe!.Version: 1.0

Great !Much better than print & CD. Much easier to use. Gets you back into playing rather than piling up the mags on the shelf..Version: 3.6

Great magazine great appFirst let me say I also get the paper edition of the magazine delivered to my house and I use the app as a companion for that. But I love it. I look forward to it coming each month, although it is always a few months behind I suppose because it comes from England. Anyway I think the magazine is extraordinary. You could study each one for months or maybe years. Also, unlike the previous reviewers, I have never had problem with the backing tracks or the sound..Version: 4.4.1

Great example of digital / print 'win-win'I get both formats and they work really well together. The range and quality of content is fantastic. The grading of pieces by ability is very helpful and there is ALWAYS something I can learn from each issue - my level being somewhere between 'moderate' and 'intermediate'. One suggestion for improvement. Occasionally, when there is a jam piece demonstrating different styles within a broader genre, they can put several styles onto one audio track. This makes it difficult to find a particular style that may be hidden in the middle of the track. It would be better if each style were given a separate track. More of a suggestion than a gripe. Overall a great product and - as it says on the front - it will make you a better player!!!.Version: 4.4.1

Digital userGetting used to digital edition. 98% great. When playing examples, the pause button at bottom disappears until you tap it again. Wastes time in replaying to learn phrases. Can you fix this? Also would love a slowdown feature in updates to the app. Otherwise, I'm so impressed by what you generate each month!.Version: 3.8.1

Great mag, now with audio!Original review below. Now it has the audio tracks I've now subscribed. Fantastic value for money mag Would love to subscribe to this mag, but has none of the audio that come on the cover mount CD. I gather this is due to "ongoing copyright issues". Hopefully this will be resolved soon, and when it is, I'll be subscribing..Version: 2.1

GTLove this app, very easy to read and play along with..Version: 4.2.9

If You Are Serious!I just discovered this magazine. I am so impressed. If you are a guitarist at any level, this will make you better, if you practice. The videos, the jam tracks, the analysis and the fun you will have makes it a must have for all guitarists!.Version: 5.6.3

Great magazineGreat magazine and app - I look forward to it every month, my only suggestion for iOS is to be able to loop the exercises so I don't have to keep swiping to rewind. But great happy to subscribe for some time to come - well worth the money and a great challenge to "attempt" to get it all done and tried in a month (some exercises are pretty challenging!!!.Version: 4.9.1

Bassman42Great magazine. Use it everyday for a portion of my practice sessions. Mitch Dalton’s column is very funny and right on point..Version: 6.0.17

Great TeachingsI really like the way they teach you how to play, not just tones. it is a great magazine to learn from..Version: 5.6.3

GreatI recommend this to anyone who wants to improve- learn why you are playing what you are playing. The one time I had to contact the developers the response was excellent. All styles covered but the emphasis is towards blues rock.Version: 5.2.2

Just dandyDoes exactly what it says. Only 4 stars because I'd like more video and it'd be brilliant to have all the sounds for back issues. Isn't there an archive I can access. Having fallen for the back issues ad I discovered that loads of them don't have associated sounds ... Feel a bit scammed !.Version: 4.9.5

GT is the best Guitar Mag!Guitar Techniques is the best instructional magazine published in English. (Young Guitar Japan is also great, but obviously is in Japanese). In the US, Guitar Player is mostly fluff, and Guitar World thinks so poorly of its audience that it doesn't even print music above TAB. GT is loaded with licks, lessons, and full songs from cover to cover. The app provides playback and occasional video for each example. Its an amazing learning tool! I would love to see a desktop OS X version of the app - so we can read it on the big screen :).Version: 5.2.3

Raised the barAfter 45 years of playing I've become bored with 99% of the "educational" material available, finding most to be "quick buck" rehashes of stuff that's been repeatedly cloned (and if that sounded redundant- it was supposed to). Guitar Techniques, however, seems to find a fresh twist in almost everything they present. A bonus is rather than dumping endless repetitions of licks on us, their material has a point to it and a focus - but without being limited to a single style. Well worth the very reasonable price, even to us "old dogs" who think we've been buried under every possible page of tab that could possibly ever be published! Highly recommended!.Version: 3.6.5

I had my worries at first but it's brilliantI used to subscribe to the magazines before but I thought I'd try the digital version on my IPad. I also bought all the back issues which I thought were good value. Initially I couldn't get any sound from my IPad but the guys at GT showed me how to get over the 'IPad sound glitch' and lo and behold great sound. Totally pleased. Now I have to get round on how to slow down the music for practising the solos..Version: 4.6
