Touch and Learn - Emotions for Negative User Reviews

Real faces and people...My son needed to identify emotions and this software provides a good start. some of the photos did not match the emotion as well as I would have liked, especially when two or three would fit the emotion you were looking for. Thank you.Version: 2.0

GoodMy son has autism so I thought this would be good for him as we are learning about emotions. The picture are really good quality, but some can be a little confusing for example some are almost the same I even had trouble distinguishing between them. However he does enjoy it and does help learn the different emotions!.Version: 2.0

Black screenJust bought the app from Apple Store for my 3 year old. All we see is black screen although we can hear sounds. Tried removing it and downloading again, the result was the same - no picture! Help!.Version: 2.0

Frustrated by new version! 😞Just upgraded to a newer iPhone & sadly my apps didn't make the transition. I really liked the original version because it allowed me to individualize the program to my different clients by targeting specific emotions for each one. I just spent 5 minutes trying to remember how to access the settings screen-when I went back to get a clue from the App Store info re: the app, that's when I found out you had "improved" it. Now I'll have to try to find another app that will work-but what I especially liked about your app was the realistic photos. Could you please reconsider what was suggested by one of the other reviewers & offer two versions. That would be a way to meet the needs of your varied consumers. If you do upgrade again to incorporate two versions, could you please consider having only one good/clear face out of the four that really best matches the targeted emotion? It makes scoring/data collection much more valid when there is less chance of two or more possible correct responses. Thanks so much for listening to our feedback. 😊.Version: 2.0

Can't customize!Though there is the customization feature, whenever I attempt to turn off certain concepts to test only a few at a time, the program crashes. I've tried reloading it twice. Please fix this bug...I really want to use this with my students with pragmatic language difficulties!.Version: 1.0

Give me the sentences!Ok. I am an 11 yr old female. We got this so that we could customize it. It was great... Til u took out the sentences. Can there at least be a option to have it on please??.Version: 2.0

EhMore than one picture to display similar emotions is fine with me, and having each picture represent more than one emotion is also acceptable. I do not like, though, when there is not more than one correct answer choice. Very frustrating for me and my students alike..Version: 2.0

Disappointed :(Very disappointed with the current update. Some emotions are hard for me to figure out let alone the age group this app is designed for. Hope you bring back the better descriptions for what they need to do eg "point at the sad boy". Also I liked the fact you had teenagers, man, woman, child..Version: 2.0

Label emotions"smiling" is not an emotion. I'm not sure if some if the others are either..Version: 2.0

A bit confusingI intended to use this app for work purposes with children. The current version has a number panels that would be confusing for the age range of children it is intended for. I agree with the previous reviews that a variety of ages and simplified instructions would make this app much more useable with young children..Version: 2.0

Black box covers part of photosIf you have the sound off and the readable words on, the words are right in the middle of the four pictures and surrounded by a black box that covers to much of the pictures. A child with autism might not be able to determine what the rest of each of the pictures look like even if they just saw it in the last set. It would be helpful to have the word underneath the four pictures so it is not blocking any part of the photos..Version: 2.0

Good idea..But fix it please! As soon as I customized it the app stopped working. I was so excited about this! I turned it so it only covered mad, sad, and happy to start out with a student who is working on the goal of recognizing emotions. When I finished customizing I started the app and it closed. It will not start at all now beyond the opening screen. Please see what you can do..Version: 1.0

Great, but crashesThis program is great.....BUT, it crashes when the nouns are turned off...in fact the only thing that works is the nouns portion. Frustrating because my daughter was learning so much from this app.....Version: 1.0

2 starsMy brother has autism and I got this app for him. What I don't understand is that it only goes sideways and doesn't ask you what emotion it is. So now, it's pretty much worthless and doesnt help at all..Version: 2.0

ConfusingGreat photos, but the combinations of the 4 choices is often confusing, and there are action words given as names of emotions. For example, on one page the stimulus word was "smiling" (action, not emotion) and three of the pictures showed someone smiling, yet there was only one correct answer. In another example, one page used the word "focused" for a certain picture, then on the very next page, used the same picture for the word "curious". This would be fine if they were actually synonymous, but not so much! Let's face it, we use these apps with low-functioning or very young children who are easily confused. The stimulus items and the picture choices need to be more clear. It would also be great to incorporate synonyms in this app, as many children get stuck on "happy", "sad", and "mad" and really need to expand their vocabulary..Version: 2.0

Emotions and other feelingsI, too, did not like the way you had to go through the app to find the picture/feelings that you want to student's to identify for a specific book, connection, or prior connection for introducing literacy books to small groups of children. The pictures are great; but, need to be assimilated so that they can be chosen to match the teaching and content for students. V. Martin, Literacy teacher.Version: 1.0

Purchased- no sound 😞Tried all my volume controls and no sound.Version: 3.0

Shows promiseI am an SLP who tried this app with a few children with autism. They had all tried Autism Xpress which uses cartoons and I wanted to check for carry over. I would like it if there was an option for emotions only. Customization was confusing or just didn't work.Version: 1.0

Helpful, but some quirksThis is a great app for not only students on the autism spectrum, but also for ELLs (English Language Learners, for the lay people out there). However, you have to fix several issues, such as a baby being identified as a boy when you can't really discern the gender in the picture, and the girl who is smiling with her hands on each side of her face not being considered "happy," and the picture of the smiling boy in the same photo with a girl being a correct choice for "pick the smiling boy.". I agree with a previous reviewer that if you focused on the emotion only, rather than throwing gender and age into the mix, it would be a better app. Regardless, remove the confusion and you folks have a five star app!.Version: 1.0

RRichFrom an education point of view I was disappointed in this app. The layout is very busy with the pictures taking up the whole screen. When it asks to identify a picture there is often several that you could choose but it will only respond as correct on one. This is frustrating. I felt the language used was also not appropriate, using terms such as kid and referring to a boy and toddler when there are two baby pictures on the page and you can't tell if they are boys or not. This app has great potential I just don't think it's quite there yet..Version: 1.0

Good concept...needs better questions thoughReally love the idea of this app, and so far seems to work fine. I just have issues with many of the questions being unclear with the photo choices. Like point to the smiling girl, and there are 2 but only one is correct, or point to the woman that is concentrating, and there are 2 correct answers but one looks like she has a migraine, not concentrating. Or point to the bored kid, and looks like 2 could be bored, silly boy... Baby/toddler differences etc... This would be a Great app if the questions and the photos could be a bit clearer. Can not use it with my students as is..Version: 1.0

Not helpfulNot helpful.Version: 3.0

Old version usefulThe old app was better. My daughter learned more from it because it had more to offer. Could you have two different apps, one with just emotions and one with everything? Maybe add even more into the everything app?.Version: 2.0

Great app but frustrating that it keeps freezing! This is a great idea and brilliant that it is customisable but I am having problems with the screen freezing when I try to edit the sounds. Frustrating as it is potentially a really good app. Please fix!.Version: 1.0

Learning Experience? Heck no!Of all the apps I have ever purchased or downloaded in my entire life, this is by far the worst one I have ever seen. The pictures are repetitive, the voice is annoying, and some of the feelings don't really go with the picture most of the time. For example, when the voice asked for something "silly", all the pictures have someone smiling. In the end, the app showed that the answer was the little girl who looked rather frustrated than silly. But it's not just that; there are also times when it comes down to two pictures for smiling and I just guess and get it right 50/50 of the time. If both are smiling, I would just pick one and hope for the best. That is the biggest letdown of the app. At the beginning of downloading this app, I expected myself, an autistic 16 year old, to get further knowledge on feelings. But, in the end, it was just an awful mess that could be better off made by a 7 year old. Please, spare your time and DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP!!.Version: 2.0

Please put the full sentences back!I am a teacher for hearing impaired children. Before the update, I used the app to teach not only the emotions, but a listening exercise for plurals and descriptive words. With the current version, having only one word is too difficult for my students to hear and it does not help with the contextual processing. Please change it back!.Version: 2.0
