✓ Great with one exceptionI just got the Ion piano to go with this app. I've never played a piano before and have found this app to be a great way to learn already. I will say though that the ability to scrub through the videos would be a massive improvement to the experience. I get lost quickly and I'd love to just jump back to anywhere in the videos. Also, it would be great to slow down the sheet music to lower than 60 bpm. Otherwise, great app..Version: 1.5
✓ My 11-year-old son is learning.I bought the piano with a Groupon for $50 and my son has been playing and practicing a few days a week. He already has several songs memorized. It's intimidating when you start, but with a little practice it gets easier. It definitely needs more songs, though..Version: 1.5

✓ I like it, but.....A great little app mindful of Yamaha's magnetic strip music and illuminated keys. Only downside for me is when I paused the tutorial when I hit play again it goes back to the start of that tutorial again. As I say it may just be me. ✓ REVIEW FROM A TALENTLESS GUYFirst off, I'm not the programmer of this ap writing my own review, I'm found this ap surfing the iTunes store. I have absolutely no talent for music and little rhythm. And yet I'm playing a couple songs now with the aid of this ap! Really, it demistifies what seems a really complicated thing and makes it doable for someone, like me, who has 10 thumbs. ✓ Music at your finger tipsI'm no musician and I have tried other learn the piano where the keys light up which are good but this guy shows you how and where best to place your fingers so no more guessing. Nice steady pace. For a real beginner I found it good but if your more talented this might not be for you..Version: 1.3

✓ Great concept and works well, but...Using it with the Ion keyboard works beautifully. It's very cool to see and hear the teacher say "these keys" and those keys light up on the keyboard as he plays them. The keyboard has two on-board speakers through which you hear the piano and the teacher, and the sound reacts to how much pressure you put on the keys. Pretty sophisticated for such an inexpensive product! The problem, for me, is the instruction. I have zero experience with piano and it would help to be able to slowly roll the instruction backwards to repeat just one segment… hand placement for a chord, for example. As it is now, you can stop/freeze the image on the iPad screen, and hit the play button to continue, but you can't "slow rewind"… it has to start from the beginning. Another problem for me… It's hard enough to learn the chords, but the finger placement is shown how it should be, but then adapted to fit the 15-key keyboard, making it very confusing. Another problem is the teacher. I like him and his easy-going manner, but he should have read from a script, or at least notes. He appears to be "winging it", because of all the times he corrects himself. (Why didn't they just edit out the bloopers?) All-in-all it's a brilliant concept and implementation, but the instruction is not well thought out. In any case, it beats trying to learn from a book..Version: 1.5

✓ Excellent that can be used on any midi pianoThis app was my first venture into learning piano and I think it is excellent. I've been able to play all songs both following the excellent videos by Scott "Piano Guy" and the sheet music. I started withe iON Piano Apprentice (small size is excellent for taking it with you) but then migrated to the Yamaha EZ220 where the sheet music part of the app works (no audio for the tutorials, but by this time I don't need them). Point to note is that the Piano Guy teaches "lead sheet" style playing with left hand chords and right hand melody - as opposed to Garage Band (also free) which is really left hand root and right hand chord. It plays on older iPODs an PADs and is free so nothing to lose. Regarding the iON Piano - it has its limitations but is compact and can work with other iTune apps that for teaching music notation..Version: 1.5
