✓ OK working nowHelp desk replied within 48hrs suggesting delete the Mag and then download. Went to Ipad ( 3) and the "processing" it was stuck in had gone and so just downloaded the Mag again and all good. Processed straight away and can view. This is my first tablet so finding it unusual reading on the tablet rather than the actual paper magazine but its crystal clear. So giving it 4 stars to start with..Version: 1.4.2

High quality pictures and video content along with all those interesting articles, news and tidbits from the world of science and technology. ✓ Focus reviewI have read the January edition and downloaded the free December issue. I have enjoyed the magazine in paper form before and in general find it a satisfactory read. The e-copy is fairly easy to navigate and easier to dot about within the mag than the paper one. My broadband speed is too slow for the video content and test my patience with the stopping and starting. It can take ten minutes or more to view a three minute video. The photographs are particularly stunning in e-format although I can see what the panning does, and I quite like the way content in some pages is bought up by tapping the infor buttons. It makes the info easier to absorb. I didn't realise quite what size the files would be and so I won't be keeping the mags on my iPad for long. However I guess I can always download them again free rather than fill up the recycling as of old. Alan.Version: 1.4.3
✓ Love itI've been a fan of Focus magazine for years and it has inspired several of my short stories and a couple of my novels, as well as informing a great deal more of what I do. The iPad version, however, is simply THE BEST and I love it. It's interactive, the photos are superb and the articles and features beautifully balance information with readability. ✓ Magazine is good - app is clunkyI've enjoyed Focus for many years and been a digital subscriber since the app first appeared. Happy to say the mag is still great value and, while the level seems to be pitched at the average 16 year old, it does lead me on to searching for stuff on the web. I'm sorry to say the app is not as good now as the initial release was and it's very unreliable..Version: 5.6.0
✓ Used to love it.I used to love this app when it was the old style where it was just like a magazine where you turn the pages then zoom in to read the articles. But it’s nothing like that anymore and there doesn’t seem to be as many articles as before. Sorry to say I have ended my subscription for this reason..Version: 5.4.1

✓ Zoom doesn't work...Beautiful app! The only thing that really bothers me is images where you should be able to pinch with fingers to zoom in on the image, doesn't work for me. ✓ Excellent magazine well designed for the iPadSubscriber of the print copy for several years so I have a slight bias. However this app version is extremely well made with lots of thought in how to put the articles together. The articles are always of a high quality and are very informative without patronising the reader. The clever use of links to video and audio whilst reading an article work really well often expanding on the content that is available. I used to lookup much of what I read in the magazine before to find out more on a subject, now this is more fluid as you are on the iPad. Top tip..... The iPad version is free if you subscribe to the print copy, so best of both worlds..Version: 1.4.3

✓ Great MagazineThe app does exactly what it is supposed to, its a portable for downloading and storing the iPad version of the magazine. It would be nice to have a search function built in, but I am not aware of any other mag-app doing this either. I have long enjoyed the Focus magazine and the iPad version is excellent. It allows me to have a lot of back issues with me when I travel, it allows video to be incorporated in to the magazine and it allows immediate access to the hyperlinks. I would like to be able to have more of the back issues that I had subscribed for and I would also like to see the advertising that appears in the printed version as there are some really cool toys to buy!.Version: 1.4.1

Add to that a customer service (specifically online account maintenance software that doesn't want to accept US addresses) and iTunes is the only way of getting it without phoning the UK, cheap to do but still a hassle. ✓ Keeping AheadI have been a subscriber of the magazine for a while and then moved slowly towards new technological heights when I was given an iPad. Despite my initial resistance to this new (?) fangled idea (resistance causes confusion, not the inherent difficultly or nature of the idea) I am now loving it. There are some extra touches that are very good, such as the additional functionality on the mega pixel pictures, which really enhance the magazine. I have also used various articles and pictures in the classroom despite the fact I teach 7 and 8 years olds! They did not react with disinterested and polite, far away smiles as I expected, but with excitement and enthusiasm instead. If you get excited everyday by the scientific wonders surrounding us, then this app will fuel the fires of your curiosity and knowledge. Easily deserving of 5 stars..Version: 1.4.2
