Simple is excellent!Straightforward app for logging exercise, sets, reps & weight. Informative stats shown at the end. I use this to log my circuits and strength training and love it. An option to log exercises as bodyweight and an option to log an exercise for time (eg a 60s plank) would make it a 5-Star app for me, but either way it's still a great app and I've tried MANY!.Version: 1.5.3

AwesomeAfter going through a bunch of workout trackers, this one is my favourite. I often do exercises that many workout apps don't have or have different names for. Gym Hero doesn't presume names and you could call a push-up an oblique chesticle growth mechanism and the app will allow it! Brilliant! Gym junkyGreat app. Easy to use. Just needs a couple of modifications. 1. Needs to show exercise list in alphabetic order. 2. Once selected an exercise it shows you the reps n weight of your last workout, but only for the first set. Fix these and I'll give it 5 stars. Just used it again n noticed another problem. When u select a workout you've previously done. BACK N BICEPS. When you've finished it adds in all the exercises you didn't do. Much better than iFitness ProGreat, simple app for setting up and tracking your workouts. Its workout setup simplicity compares favorably to iFitness Pro's tedious process. If you know what you want to do (say, a routine or protocol you're wanting to try), Gym Hero will let you set it up very efficiently, very close to using a notepad. Subsequent workouts autofill and allow for adjustments. The only improvement I can think of right now is having the workout end time calendar autofill an hour after you establish your start time. I don't use Runkeeper, so I won't comment on its integration. A simple timer would be a nice addition. Give this one a try and then give the developers a donation - well deserved!.Version: 1.6.2

Great before, Even better now.This app helped me finally get serious about the gym. Tracking my progress is a must and this is the simplest, easiest way to do it. Obviously, in a busy gym, using an app is more convenient than carrying around a notebook, but too many fitness trackers feel like they require a course in database management to operate quickly. Not so here. Reps, lbs., sets - They all get entered quickly so you stay focused on putting up better numbers; not on putting those numbers in your phone. The timer is great for tracking rest times and it's big enough to use for planks or other stuff when you can't see a clock or a watch. Sync or export to an outside account, or don't. What matters is that this is the best way to record what numbers you need to beat the next time you lift. Time at the gym is for working out, not messing around on your phone. A live message box popped up while on the page and Jannis personally helped me resolve the issue in no time (user error on my part). Fantastic App!Have been using GymHero for about 10 months now and I have to say it just keeps getting better and better. I've purchased the full pack which is great for stats. Fitty.co gives a great overview of all the workouts I've been doing, and the graphs are really nice. Once all your workouts are in here and you follow a program (ie you don't freestyle each of your workouts) then this is the app for you. Simple and effectiveThis app has everything you need if you already know what you're doing in the gym. It doesn't provide exercises for you, you create all of your own, but i like this method because many exercises are not included in other apps. The system of inputing workouts and having the option to finish them or make them a planned future workout is fantastic. I wish graphs could be free because none of the other pro version perks are worth much and i wont spend $4 for graphs, but i do appreciate the absence of ads. 3+ Years using this appThe simplicity of this app makes this app good. It is easy to navigate through the app. You can create your own custom workouts and easily log them. I also like that this app tells you how much workouts you've logged. This app goes even further to remember how much you lifted last time and what body parts you've exercised the most over the years. Need better automationThis app has definitely improved my workouts however there a few things that could definitely be improved. When you record a set the reps and weight auto-fill revert always to last time's workout. That is not good, it should auto-fill based on the last set that you just performed. Too much adjusting in the middle of the workout. Also, when adding exercises to your workout why doesn't it auto-fill based on what you type? Why should I always go through the looooong exercise list. Another thing that bugs me is that when you pre-fill the exercises from a previous workout it should allow you to re-order the exercises in any way you want. You don't always follow the same sequence. The reports section gives you graph bars that do not contain any detail. It is hard to see detail differences while comparing graphs. You could press a bar and it can pop-up details. Also it is targeted towards weight training ONLY. Why not allow recording cardio? Body builders love their cardio or at least it is part of the workout. It's left out. Overall the best app for recording workouts and be able to push yourself..Version: 1.9.14

Crashes a lot on XSI’ve used the app for a few years now. I love the simplicity. The only issue I’ve had is it does crash a good bit. It especially happens when you are building your workout and adding sets quickly. It has always crashed some, but with the XS it is constant. Great appUncomplicated workout journal. Perfect for the gym and using this free app is just fine to preload reps and weight you intend to do. I figure that's the main intent of this app, so it gets 5 stars. If I want to be picky, I wish it was HIIT friendly. HIIT workouts don't have reps per sé. You do as many as you can in a certain amount of time, THEN you log in how many reps you did. Sets is pretty much pointless for me to document when doing HIIT workouts. Nothing to document HOURS, MINUTES, and SECONDS; only a dash before the lbs tab, but the numbers don't match up to at least rig it to look like time. If it had that ability, it'd be worth it to buy the Pro or Ultimate pack. Timer, stats, etc would be necessary for me. I guess it's back to the drawing board to find a great journal that's as customizable as this app and without the extra added workout videos I don't need and find annoying..Version: 1.7.1

By far the best application for strength training record and keepingI looked long and hard before I found this app – one that would allow me to keep records while performing weight training and aerobic exercise work. It took all the drudgery out of repetitive entry for workout after work out, set after set. It let's me focus on what I wanted to the in gym-workout. Being able to export, create custom exercises, and leave notes about my workout I couldn't find another application that could do this; or do it this well. Best of all, it seems to be that the application developers care about what features you want – they were interested in my comments before I paid for all the bells and whistles – it's totally worth it..Version: 1.7.4

Great app!I have been a long time user of Weightmania online. It has the ability to enter your work out information from your iPhone also, which is then synced back to the desktop version. But their user interface on the iPhone app is absolutely horrendous to use. Gym Hero is awesome! Easy to set up, easy to use the gym with shaking hands from the exercise. Easily access the information from your last work out so that you can set new targets. Nice reporting capabilities and the ability to export to a CSV file is great. I paid the full $6.99 to get all the features. Have never paid that much for any app and I'm extremely happy with the value that I received. I wonder if I can become a rep for the company – because my show it to my buddies of the gym, everyone's going to want to buy it. I would like to see the ability to add additional body parts to the list of body parts associated with the exercises. For example, they only have "arms" as a body part type where I would like to see biceps, triceps, brachioradialis, and other customizable options. I will for these suggestions to the developers and see if they take action on it. But based on other user's comments they seem to be very responsive. Don't delay – buy it today!.Version: 1.9.14

Best gym app I could find!This is exactly what I needed. And you can tell the developer(s) are working hard to give the users what they want. I still use an iPhone 3G and some of the input is a little slow, but I'm guessing those with newer phones won't have problems. One thing I would add to this app to make it even better: You can do the same type of workout over and over by giving it a name and then saving it, which is very convenient. I would add that if you are, for example, doing the "back" workout, maybe there should be a button to quickly see the last back workout you did and the notes to see if you want to keep all the same weight and reps or if you want to step up. In a similar vein, and this is further along down the road, an option for data and charts (nothing fancy) to see your progress would be nice! Great app. UPDATE from 5 minutes after writing this review. All the improvements I suggested are already available in the stuff you can purchase in the app. Usually I won't even pay 99 cents for an app on my phone, but the 6.99 that it costs for the extra stuff is well worth it.
