Online Customer Service not the bestI always love shopping online with John Lewis. Their delivery service is brilliant and arrangements when things are out of stock and you need to source things at a store are second to none. This is especially true at Christmas time and the front end app is brilliant at initiating this. The only things that lets things down in my experience has been the customer service (in particular the Chat service) when things go wrong and you need to return things. That is when it all unravels. Smooth shopping experienceI went into John Lewis Cambridge to return an unwanted gift and look at mattress toppers while in the store. The gift returns process was quick and painless. I was given a JL / Waitrose gift card in exchange, which was fine by me. I went up to the floor for mattress toppers and found a large range of samples together with a very helpful assistant who explained that the one we liked had to be ordered online. When we got home I used the link that the assistant had emailed me to locate the exact item. I simply included the gift card as part payment, added the remaining amount and the all was done. Lack of serviceBeen a John Lewis shopper for years. On Saturday and Sunday their app said my cards were not good. Called. Waited 12 minutes and finally got someone. Was putting in my order and then asked for my £5 off discount she told me that was online. Told her online was not working properly and she hung up on me!!! Nice service!!! Put my order thru this morning. Seems they finally fixed their computer system. But when you have a big sale weekend there should be someone to take care of computer errors and not have to wait days!!!.Version: 7.19.0

The design is clear and stylish allowing users to quickly navigate to their desired section. Each product item page has a high quality gallery of images as well as a brief description. The main home page is unique in that users can shop from the newest arrivals, by departments or by product offers which shows deals that are offered with the purchase of a select item whether it be a free or discounted piece of merchandise. Bad service for an orderIn plenty of time (fortunately) for a birthday present of Apple AirPods. E mail states that these were sent out for delivery on 29th Jan. On Feb 8th I got an email stating that they were being refunded. Why? I spoke to a pleasant chap at your service desk (his home probably). I await the refund, but in the meantime I have had to reorder and to avoid the same thing happening again and the present not getting there, the recipient now has to go and collect his present from a nearly nearby store in Highbury. so, although I love John Lewis and support at every opportunity, I am really unhappy with your system that has a massive glitch in it. Shopping a pleasureSimply put - excellent products at decent prices compared to other stores , fast efficient dispatch and well packaged against damage. I managed to order items that I wanted that were out of stock on line by emailing a store (Stratford) via the app which shows what stock of items is held in branches and they are sending the items direct to me. The lady who phoned me to arrange this was very friendly and efficient. I rarely bother leaving reviews but I thought John Lewis deserved it. Children’s wearLovely to see some beautiful pieces and good prices (for my 5 and 7 year old) but I’m looking for my two eldest daughters and I’m afraid I’ve had to go elsewhere as just not ‘trendy’ enough ... looking for a knitwear and you have the John Lewis own at a great price but style not for a 10 or 11 year old ... the only other one that would have been fine was a ridiculous price of £85. Fan for one hot mother!The high temperatures here in Northern Ireland have been breaking all records, hence I have been melting! My daughter lives in Edinburgh and kindly said she was purchase me a fan and get it delivered to Northern Ireland. Although the fan she wished to buy was ‘sold out’ on line at your website a friend informed her that John Lewis run a scheme whereby you complete a form and various John Lewis stores are searched for said item. Well it worked like a dream, your Newcastle store had the fan and 2 days later, I was in possession of my new best friend! My Mr Meaco! Cannot thank you enough! Reliable, fast and secureAnother quick purchase facilitated by a good website and easy navigation between the goods on offer and the checkout. JL were great when an item which proved to be faulty, was exchanged without quibble at the Trafford Centre in May of this year. Customer after sales services has been exemplary and the reason why we return to JL time and again. Please reinstate our free coffees and cake as our monthly rewards though.... it used to encourage us to travel for nearly an hour to our nearest store and after our “treat” we invariably made purchases!.Version: 6.41.1

Boots and Harrods take noteEdit: nevermind...I’ve smashed my phone, new phone to be purchased and app downloaded again. Boots still need your help though... Edit: disappointed you stop supporting older phones, some people like to keep using their perfectly functioning products while they still work perfectly well. However it was a great app when I could use it, please, please help Boots sort theirs, how have they got it so wrong!! This is a great app for browsing and shopping on your phone, it is quick to search, compare, select and buy products. Click and collect chargeI ordered the set of two plate covers (£4) to be collected from my Solihull store. I ordered quickly and before I realised I had been charged £2 for Collection Instore. I have never been charged fir collection before and I could have bought them Instore for £4. I have now had to pay an extra £2. If I walked another 50 yds past the Collection point I could have bought them off the shelf for £4. As I am disabled it was less walking for me to park outside Collection and pick up from Collection rather than walk around the store This is not good customer service JL and I shall be ringing Customer Services..Version: 5.23.0

I’m telepathicFor me buying on line is rare, so when I got the notification it was in, great, go pay, collect or delivery, collect, normally you have a selection of places, so phone c/support, asking if it can be delivered at the store, as I’m going help, answer someone will call you back between 2 and 6, it’s only about 1, but you can, but no address, then I’m thinking , delivered, I can charge it up and take it in, phoned back to cancel the phone back, I was then told collect in store, they will charge it and talk you though it for £5 ,fine,go to pay, the phone back calls, can i help you,checked with her, and payed. Easier to use the app than negotiate the “all new” local store.Easy to use website. Good quality products. Not totally sure about the Anyday line. Worried that it may be poor quality as there’s a huge difference in the prices for similar items. Just as an aside, I went into a John Lewis store for the first time a couple of weeks ago since the beginning of The first COVID lockdown. I nearly had a breakdown. What have you done to the Cambridge store? I couldn’t find anything. It’s all moved. Too much makeup space. Usual routes blocked off. Always a pleasure when dealing with John LewisJust ordered some Xmas gifts and was looking for towels for me. Unfortunately all the towel sets had one item missing so kept cancelling rest of the towels. After I paid I found out I had also paid for just 2 hand towels. Just a 2 minute phone call and they have cancelled towels and started the refund. Same in store the staff are just so helpful especially on the kitchen utensils section where I bought a number of Le Creusant items but never noticed the coffee maker had a little black spot on so I bought the wrong colour. Again were really helpful explaining the orange coffee maker actually had a yellow sticker, they were not out of stock. Same lady served me three times that week and remembered me. Fab app and kitchen drawer idea is perfect!I love everything about this app and I especially love the kitchen drawer idea! No more looking girl receipts at home or accidentally arriving in store with the wrong receipt! It’s all saved in your kitchen drawer ready when you need it! App is super easy to use and unlike some other apps items don’t disappear from your basket if you happen to have to leave them for a while and go and do something else. Absolutely useless app and crashing all the timeUpdate to my previous review I’m getting a message that it needs IOS 13 to run. Unable to update offerI ordered a laptop with a 2 yr guarantee and the next day got an email of offers including that this machine now had a 3 yr guarantee. I immediately phoned and after some time holding was informed that this would be passed to the customer service team who would call me back. The laptop arrived, left up opened. After 5 days with no call back another call, again helpful immediate person, who said I should have had a call, and helpfully suggested I stay on hold while they followed it up. Eventually they came back and confirmed my only option to get the additional year guarantee was to return the laptop and reorder it. Intuitive, aesthetically pleasing, and makes shopping funReally like the seamless design; the website is clunky and for some reason has trouble loading on both my laptop and my phone. The app is much easier to navigate and the product photos are sharper and truer to life (basing this on the photos of the Egyptian cotton towels, where the colours show up very differently to on the website, and the app’s images of the ones I own look much more like them than the website’s). Seems so easy… most of the time, but….Easy to shop with JL, as long as the items in stock in the warehouse. More challenging I’ve found if you buy remotely from a store, when the warehouse hasn’t any stock. In one recent incident I had to purchase from a store and they failed to wrap the item well enough and it arrived at damaged. The only way to return it was to visit a store… that’s a 50 mile round for me! All because a store sent me my item, but didn’t put it a box, as apparently stores don’t have boxes to pack items in. Normally good but!I like John Lewis and use them for electronic purchases for their 5 year warranty. This proved useful as my 3 year old tv broke down. I notified tech support and they elected a repair company who deemed the tv beyond economic repair. I was ages and I mean ages 1hr 42 minutes to be precise on my last call, waiting on the phone for someone to answer. It was 10 minutes to 9 pm (they close lines at 9) and they couldn’t help. I had made some 1/2 calls previously before calling again early in the morning. Useless if you want to purchase onlineNice to browse but rejects any orders for security check reasons. Customer services claim it is a system failure. No indication on the web informing customers of this problem. Appears all online ordering is now completed automatically and when things go wrong customer services can only help by manually taking customer details using a phone. Problems since recent updateHave always loved using this app but since the recent update a couple of days ago it’s proving somewhat challenging. The closure of John Lewis Peterborough storeI like many many other people was shocked & felt betrayed that the Peterborough John Lewis store did not reopen after the COVID-19 lockdown having only just had millions of pounds spent on refurbishment. My house is full of items purchased from this store from furnishings TVs clothing Christmas items carpets curtains bedding holidays perfume makeup etc as is the case with many other people I know. I dislike intensely bring forced to purchase online & for most items have taken my business elsewhere I am saddened that we no longer have the option of meandering around our store purchasing items that I hadn’t gone in for I guess our beloved John Lewis no longer values it’s loyal customers..Version: 6.41.1

Buying good, customer service’s shockingI’m not going to go into details but when I telephoned customer services I explained that when checking my order status, the order didn’t exist. I was told to contact my bank. I asked if there was a reason for the order not being completed and the female said JL rejected payment. Then surely if JL rejected payment then its JL I would need to speak to. The female said, and I quote “ this is customer service, I’m sorry you don’t like it but that’s what you have to do, so I’m finished with you now so that’s the end good bye” and hung up on me. Wow! Online shopping reviewFor all positive purchases- very easy . Only thing I was unsure of, which has now been clarified with recent transaction. Was I had a gift voucher given to me . However the item I purchased was not suitable. But was over the price of vouchers so paid part card . Card transaction was credited. The other amount a mere £3 was credited to my account. I had no way visible to see this credit on my John Lewis card details on the app , or anywhere I looked. To my pleasure the amount credited to my account was taken off my recent online order. Enjoying the app, more than instoreSad to say the Peterborough store closed. Therefore I was really looking forward to shopping in the Cambridge store last Saturday, when there was a promotional day. The service or lack of it was dreadful. On a number of occasions sales assistants were nowhere to be seen. Firstly I asked an assistant where the Erica Davies collaboration coats were, yes they were on display, looking great, no VM to indicate they were the coats! No, they were not nearby either. I mean that’s common sense to me place the goods near the display, or am I missing something? The assistant said she hadn’t seen them on the shop floor either and said there might be some in the stockroom she wasn’t sure. Then we wanted to buy a lipstick from Hourglass and there was nobody manning an impressive concession. We had to ask a very ‘overworked’ young girl who knew nothing about Hourglass as she was from Le Labo! She hadn’t had a break, clearly exhausted and did her best. What’s gone wrong? If you have a promotional day- throw everything you have at it! Over-staff the event, give great Customer Service. Not everyone likes buying on-line. Easy ShoppingLuckily, I live very close to a Partnership store where my John Lewis orders can be delivered to and collected from. An easy service to use with helpful and friendly partners. Gift, clothes and home shopping has never been easier. The range of brands on offer provides more choice than my local town centre so I am aware of the quality of everything before I see an item; haven’t returned anything due to quality reasons. Next day delivery, free for a spend of £50 plus adds to the sense of an easy shop, to my local store means no missed deliveries or carelessly left packages. I enjoy the security this service offers. Returns are also easy and reliable. The parcel taken back to the store a little bit of admin and an email to say your return is being processed. Refund normally hits bank within seven days. Christmas shopping even easier. Browse the store and add to basket. Leave in basket overnight, just in case. . ., then continue to checkout when ready. Email to confirm purchases. I find this a great way to budget. Amount I want to spend planned then basket adjusted as necessary; perfect. A great service, quality brands, easy website, delivery secure, returns simple, refund’s reliable. So simple to shop 7yrs worth of receiptsI have had this app since day one along with the John Lewis reward card. I find shopping so easy on the app via iPhone or iPad and as I have a reward card all my receipts are stored since 2010!!! To look back and check on items when ordered, make and model and order again or check warranty’s is fabulous. Ordering for collection has improved no longer need to drive to Waitrose in next town as local Coop is now a pick up point. Love the option of being emailed when something is back in stock and love the option to save favourites to refer back to when planning room changes..Version: 7.4.0

The Best and the Worst of timesWhere else can you receive the best customer and quality service on the British High Street, in 2024 ? Admittedly, it is getting harder to actually see one of John Lewis Partners as they all look now like customers. Once upon a time they were distinguishable and extremely helpful; while some walked the floor with their clip boards. Sadly, those days are long gone and so are the Partners. Automation is now the buzz word, flash your Partnership Card over the terminal and hopefully in months to come rewards fall through your old fashioned letter box at home…ah those who are iPhone savvy, their rewards pop up there as notifications . We old timers, like the proper way, meeting Partners and seeing the products in their beautiful surroundings it’s called a SHOP! A plea., let the customers; touch, see, feel . . . the goods, in a shop surrounding where there are actual LIVE , helping Partners. If you need to cull more of the faceless , the unseen managers hidden in their homes since Covid times obliterate them not the partner workers..Version: 7.55.0

Loving John Lewis but…Really disappointing to see new styling of website, the John Lewis green colour was so distinctive and has replaced with an unattractive beige. Items are displayed like bargain basement products. Information about the product is lower down beyond alternative products. It’s visually unpleasant and messy. Why change a thing that was so good! It looks tawdry and doesn’t tempt. Even cheaper stores like ikea look elegant and tempting and are super clear about the product information. You compete with the white company but their website makes their products look so much better than yours, and yet you have many better products- it’s a shame you display them so unattractively. My Go To StoreI like the design of the website. It is clear, informative and easy to use. Thank goodness for JL. When I go to our local John Lewis Store staff, though noticeably not as many these days, are well informed and extremely helpful which enables me to make a decision about a purchase. I have to confess I like to see and feel products before making a purchase. I will be regarded as being old fashioned, but I think this approach is less wasteful and certainly less time consuming. Some time ago I visited JL Liverpool after 5pm. The service was excellent. I tried on, and bought items that I would not have seen, which were brought to my attention by the staff. My favourite storeJohn Lewis and Waitrose. What would we ever do without them. It’s not often these days where the customer is always right, but John Lewis is a welcome exception. The staff are always friendly and go the extra mile for you. The stores, and I’m including Waitrose as well, are always spotless and welcoming, and the Christmas decorations at John Lewis are second to none . Love John Lewis! But need to package breakables betterJohn Lewis is one of my favourite online stores - great choice, easy shopping, fast delivery etc. But a few times when I’ve ordered breakable items (glassware, crockery) it’s arrived broken. The JL customer service for this is amazing - no quibble replacements but if you package stuff better in the first place you won’t have to replace things :-) I had a ceramic Orla Kiely breadbin arrived smashed, then the replacement the same issue. Third time lucky! Then 6 Royal Dalton beer glasses - all 6 were smashed. Replacement was fine. Had some Leon plates delivered, one was missing so they were rattling around in the box but remarkably, not smashed. I had a Waitrose garden plant pot arrive smashed too! Gorgeous things at your fingertipsI simply love john john lewis. Every thing they sell is first class. There is only one problem, I'm spoiled for choice. I have been a customer for decades, and I have always been pleased with their very high standard of service and products, also, the ability to adapt to various situations, ie changes in fashion, pandemics, shortages, trends and fads. Whether you buy in store or online, with delivery or Click and Collect, it’s fast and easy. Returns are one of the best trouble free experiences I have experienced. Easy to use yet disappointingThe app is fairly easy to use. I had a voucher in the rewards which wasn’t so easy to access. I assumed (which I know I shouldn’t) that the payment method would allow access to my rewards and vouchers. Alas no. I now know I need to copy any reward codes before I get to payment area. A little annoying as I had to come out of my almost complete basket payment page, find the voucher which wasn’t easy as a first time user, then start over to get to the payment. It felt as though the company didn’t really want me to access the vouchers they gave me as an incentive..Version: 7.51.0

Fantastic companyI have shopped both for Business purposes and personal from John Lewis for 20 years, not having a John Lewis in our Town and the closet is a 30 to 40 min drive away I do a lot of on line buying. Their after care is exemplary never have I had any problems at all, and in this day and age it’s nice to hear a voice at the other end of the phone. I always buy anything electrical from John Lewis as they have a great guarantee and lots of their prices are cheaper than main stream stores, it’s a pleasure to do Business with them..Version: 7.30.1

Good but so annoyingI really like the ease of use….can merrily browse and pop thinks into you basket, BUT when you get to the till, more often than not (more so for sale items) your shopping basket has been robbed! Such an annoying feature. If I was in the store and put something in my basket and 10 mins later was at the till, I expect the items to still be in my basket. Not so online, in your basket seems to mean nothing until you go to the checkout. Happened so many times puts you off shopping on the app. Please JL, sort this out and at least give your customers a chance, if it’s in my basket it should be held for me for a certain period of time, otherwise you go round in circles, finding a replacement item only to find a different item in you basket has also now been swiped and no longer available!.Version: 7.26.0
