HP 15C Calculator for Positive User Reviews

Just love this AppThe HP 15C was the best calculator of its time and this app allows it live on forever..... Thanks HP for maintaining the app..Version: 2.1.2

Great appLove it. Can’t find the real thing at a reasonable price so this is a welcome stand-in. Five stars for you! I just discovered a bug this morning, though. The inverse trig functions ignore the degrees/radians/grads setting and always return an answer in radians..Version: 2.3.2

Perfect! v2.0.1I don't have the key click sound issue reported by other user (my device is iPhone 4, iOS 5.1). Settings work perfectly, turning sound on and off as it should be. The version number is wrong as usernickname mentions, still showing v1.1 in about. The manual is working now, but it could be better if we had a search tool to locate subjects through a key word as we can do by reading in pdf files. Despite those points I mentioned above, for me the app as is deserves the 5 stars. I have an old real 11C calculator that has more than 30 years old, still working fine, and my only complaint was that it could not be with me all the time. Now, this problem was solved with this 15C version in my iPhone and I am very happy. Thank you so much!.Version: 2.0.1

Request for Function: Copy & PasteLove the calculator—it takes me back to my engineering school days. My one gripe is that there does not seem to be a way to copy a result for use in another program. That makes this difficult to use this with all the other programs on the iPhone/iPad. Implement at least a copy function and I’ll give it 5 stars..Version: 2.1.2

Data ScientistWe need an iOS compatible upgrades from HP soon!! I've used HP calculators most of my life, since my first HP67 in 1980. I still have it. I have many others: 34C, 11C, 12C, 15C, 41CV, 48GX. No other calculator type, has ever surpassed the HP family. EVER. I prefer to use the real ones only occasionally now, because there are no more replacement parts. However, The emulators for the iPhone are so nice to have and I use them regularly, and they're all in my pocket on the iPhone 6s+. Phone size is about the actual size of the real machines too. I love em. HP needs to update the 12 and 15 soon though. Apple says they are not compatible with future versions of iOS. Other developers are keeping up with their HP emulators, some of which are very nice. I think HP would have a profitable business unit if they took seriously bringing these great little computing machines back to life in the whole family of reasonably priced emulators. However, for now, is be grateful if they would just ensure their existing emulators are compatible with future iOS versions. Kindest Regards,.Version: 2.0.1

Such a great calculatorStill a great calculator, with the added nostalgia for those who used the original. Thank you for updating to 64 bit and for getting to work with IOS 11..Version: 2.1.2

Now virtually perfectThe key-click control actually has to be changed in your phone's Settings menu , not from within the app itself; that's fine. At least the horrible key clicks can now be turned off. The slight tweaks to the look are good. I'm glad to has CLR X on the portrait-mode keyboard; I would have preferred BSP, but CLR X is ok. Now, this app is just excellent. This is an essential app for me..Version: 2.0.1

Thanks for the 64-bit update! Awesome! Thanks for updating this app To support 64-bit HP!! I actually deleted it on Tuesday after updating to iOS 11 as it was no Longer working. But now that it is again, it’s back on my iPhone! Simply the best RPN calculator!.Version: 2.1.2

Five stars for retro look, 3 for valueLike the RPN fan that I am, I bought this. I don't regret it but it really is overpriced. I feel like I paid $10 for the calculator and $5 for the pretty graphics. But that is not a complaint. You may wish to also consider PCalc and other great RPN calculators on the App Store but be sure they are programmable if you need that..Version: 2.0.1

Works well on iPadOS 13.1.2With so many recent negative reviews related to iOS 13, I’ve never tried on 13 until this holiday season (December 2019). HP did not update the version number nor the date but just for the record, this app actually works well on iPhone iOS 13 and iPad iPadOS 13.1.2 Excellent job HP calc, as usual. Very happy holidays! p.s. This app runs blazing fast if you happen to have an original HP-15C to compare with :-).Version: 2.1.2

Don't let my iPhone 15C die!Apple has been informing me "This app will not work with future versions of iOS." please update the app. I'm not ready to give up RPN, but I'm also not ready to carry my 15C with me as a separate device. 5 star rating applies only until I lose my app..Version: 2.0.1

The Original Engineering CalculatorHP created an actual emulator of the ROM of the original HP-15C. Therefore, guaranteed to be faithful emulation of the original! As is the case with the other HP Voyager series calculators. Excellent! My only wish is that HP would release the HP-16C computer scientist calculator as well so I can complete my collection!.Version: 2.3.4

Very Nice!Seems to emulate 15C functions perfectly, but I have not yet checked out programming capabilities. For those that find the key clicking annoying, it can be disabled by going into your iDevice settings, scroll down until you see "15C", and the first option is to enable/disable the key clicks..Version: 2.0.1

I love It July 2015I put the date I purchased it here since I know there must be a lot of versions. I have tried every RPN calculator out there. I like this one the best. The horizontal is a perfect rendition of the classic calculator. In Vertical the choices were made perfectly. A reciprocal key and a square root key are the only functions. Both of these are handy for quick calculations I make in vertical mode. Also the keyboard area is not cluttered with ads or even settings. To change the FIX for digits you must go horizontal. The elegance and simplicity are ideal..Version: 2.0.1

The best oneI've tried several of these by different developers. This is by far the best one. It works exactly like my 15c. Well worth the money. I'm using it on an iPhone 6 Plus. The graphics are beautiful. I turned off the clicking sound..Version: 2.0.1

My fave calculator!Thank you for bringing back my fave calculator from the 32-bit grave!! I still have the hardware model from the 80’s that I continue to use (just get new batteries every 10 years or so), but I love having this one on my iPad and phone. Much appreciated!!!.Version: 2.1.2

Works well but could do with a bit more supportI’ve been using this app for at least 10 years and was happy to pay a higher price for it as it genuinely has the look of the older 11C/15C. It continues to work well but it could do with an occasional update to keep up with latest iOS releases. Recommended..Version: 2.3.4

Need a way to remove shadow effect from displayLove the app, just as I love my (still working) real HP15c. But there should be a way to remove the "shadows" from the numerical display in the app. In the real world, the shadow is a real 3D effect, and can be controlled by moving the calc with respect to ones eyes or the light source. Obviously this is not possible with the app, and to me just results in lowering the legibility of the display. There should be an option to turn off the shadowing..Version: 2.0.1

Excellent!Great to have an HP 15C again. I've been really bummed since my original calculator crashed. The layout is perfect on the iPad and the "keys" are perfect for large hands. Note: you have to hold the iPad in landscape orientation to get the full 15C layout shown on the left above (with trig functions, etc.). If the iPad is held in the portrait orientation, you only get the basic arithmetic operations (shown above on the right). It's not immediately obvious at first how to switch the visual modes..Version: 2.0.1

Thanks for the 64 bit updateThis is my go-to calculator app on my iPhone and iPad. I was expecting to have to find something else once I realized it didn’t work on the late beta software. At home I grab my hardware 15C for most things, this is the next best option. Thanks for updating it!.Version: 2.1.2

To use on iOS 12, delete & ReinstallUpdated to iOS 12 and it stopped working. I deleted it and powered down iPhone. Restarted and re-installed and it works again..Version: 2.1.2

Perfect now! Thanks, HP, for fixing the two issues another user reported! This is fantastic! My actual 15C I use almost every day, despite it being almost 30 years old. This app brings a smile to my face every time I open it..Version: 2.0.1

More iPhone 11 issues.Love this app. Used a 15-C getting 2 engineering degrees in my distant past. In addition to the display misalignments reported reported on the iPhone 11 by other users, with this latest update, the “flip” function no longer works when trying to return to landscape mode after pressing the “15-C” logo at top left..Version: 2.3.2

Now for iOS 11Thus now works on iOS 11. Don't be scared off by old reviews. HP has finally updated the app to work on current devices (circa 2017). It works great - just like my old 15C from my college days. If you like to use RPN logic - buy this app..Version: 2.1.2

Numbers are not in calculator display windowI just upgraded to the iPhone 12 Pro Max with iOS 14.2. The numbers now show up below the calculator display window. This problem did not happen with the iPhone 11 Pro Max running the same iOS. Otherwise the calculator appears to be working normally. Please fix this bug..Version: 2.3.2

Much improved versionWorks on the new IOS 11, and the key stroke-to-sound latency issue on the old app is fixed. For those like me who can’t use any other calculator, it’s worth springing for!.Version: 2.1.2

IPhone XS Max iOS 13.5.1I have the Limited Edition HP 15C which my third one which has an updated processor. I also have this HP App which has a bug in the basic portrait calculator in which the display number is in the bottom edge of the LCD display rather than in the LCD display. Otherwise great App that I use a lot when I don’t have my HP 15C with me. Regards, Martin Basil.Version: 2.3.2

App is true to the original, latest update caused display issuesI don’t know whether it’s related to an iOS update, the latest (2.3.2) app update, or a setting on my phone (iPhone 11, 13.3.1), but the font size has been reduced on both the landscape and portrait views and the display numerals’ location has been moved out of the display area on the portrait view. Please update the app or advise potential causes and solutions to this problem. Thank you!.Version: 2.3.2

Love my 15CGreat app! Best emulation of the 15C I have found. A little overpriced, but to those of us who have grown up with the finest calculator ever made (in my opinion), it is worth it. An update is overdue that would allow turning off the key click within the app. I know the ringer switch does silence the app, but I find it a nuisance to have to switch it on and off every time I use the calculator. Also would be nice to take advantage of the additional real estate offered by the iPhone 5..Version: 2.0.1

Display BugI use this all the time. I have a physical 11C I’ve had a very long time. They are my favorite calculators. With version 2.3.2 in the portrait (simple calculator) view on my iPhone 11 Pro Max the numbers do not appear in the display window but rather lower and to the right..Version: 2.3.2

32 bit app, get with it HPI paid a significant price for this app. Now with iOS 10.3 I can see it is a 32 bit app and that it will be discontinued in future versions of the operating system. Get with it HP! It's time for an update!!! Thanks, HP! The update is appreciated!.Version: 2.1.2

Quality app - great graphicsI found this app to be wonderful. At first I was frustrated with it as it would not switch to landscape mode which is were most of the functions become available. Found I had to switch off rotation lock to get the app to work in landscape mode! Love the look of this app, great quality graphics! And I love RPN calculators. Expensive app, but then all HP products are expensive..Version: 2.1.2

Good app. Needs tweaking. The app is good though a little bit pricey when considering that there are far more powerful calculator apps that are less expensive. (HP is preying on the sentimental engineer who misses their HP15C) The following improvements will be appreciated: 1) Expand options behind the "Menu" icon to include the following: a) Link to App developer support. (How hard would that be?) b) A switch to turn off key press sound feedback so that the user doesn't annoy their co-workers or people trying to study in a library. c) Turn off the blinking after providing the calculated answer given after using a programmed set of functions. (The blinking answer keeps blinking at you and it annoys the blinking blinking out of the user).Version: 2.0.1

Nice to haveI’ve always liked this series of calculator. This one duplicates all the functions of the original. A plus is that as it’s on my phone, it’s always with me. A minus is that on my phone, an iPhone X, the keys are somewhat smaller than the original, and as it’s a touchscreen, it’s easier to accidentally hit the adjacent key, than on the original HP calculator. All-in-all, a very worthwhile tool to have..Version: 2.1.2

Hp15CThis is a great app for one of the best calculators ever made. Pricey for an app but cheap compared to buying on of the real things. Many are complaining about the clicking of the keys and rightfully so. However, just go into the iphone Settings, scroll down to the HP15C program and there is a setting to turn this off..Version: 2.0.1

I love it!I was given an HP11C about 30 years ago whilst at college. Whilst RPN takes a bit of getting used to once I got comfortable with it the ease of completing complex calculations is extraordinary. I still have that 11C but these days I keep it safe at home. I was so pleased to find that I could replicate it, plus a few extras, with this app. Even better, you get the manual as well which I have long since misplaced. For me, they are the best calculators ever made by a some margin!.Version: 2.0.1

Superb vintage calculator emulationThis is HP at its best. HP engineers created these unique RPN calculators. They are literally unique since no other major manufacturer used or uses RPN, thinking their customers are too lazy or unintelligent to learn how to use it. HP should be rewarded for creating the 15C and 12C apps. These are iconic brilliant tools worthy of their place in the pantheon of innovative human calculating machines. The manual alone is a gem, included in the app. HP wrote the best instruction manuals of any company around. Each example function illustrated by a real world computation based on physics or business needs, is literally a pleasure to read and work through. These are so easy to program you can get genuine time saving use out of these calculators. The real world versions are 10 times or more the cost of these apps. So stop complaining about cost and enjoy. Thank you HP..Version: 2.1.2

Needs an update for iPhone 5The landscape mode on iPhone 5 does not use all screen real estate. The title bar with time and so on is unnecessary and takes up valuable space. The screen also does not use all the iPhone 5s space leaving two black bars on the side. Another waste. Needs an update to make it a real FULL SCREEN APP on iPhone 5..Version: 2.0.1

Almost as good as the real thingStill my favorite calculator of all time--since freshman year in 1985, anyway, and my 15c stills work perfectly. But this app is the next best thing, for when I'm not in my office. One star off for the $15 price though. (To the people complaining about the clicking, go to the iPad/iPhone settings and there is a preference for the 15c where you can turn off the clicks, set rotation lock, etc.).Version: 2.0.1

Best Calculator everIve been using the 15C since the early ‘80’s. This app has been a welcomed addition. RPN is a habit and once mastered, you can’t use a normal calculator. Thanks for this app. Been using it for years now.Version: 2.3.2

64-bit SupportFinally added 64-bit support the day after iOS 11 came out! Thank you..Version: 2.1.2

Screen issuesI've used this app for years and years. The latest version, combined with the latest iPhone update shows the screen entries off center from the calculator screen when in the vertical mode. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this??..Version: 2.3.2

Awesome calculator app! This is the only calculator app I turn to!.Version: 2.1.2

Does not workOriginally worked on iphone 5 but i have upgraded to iphone xr and app does not run.Version: 2.1.2

Another Retired Old UserHas worked great through numerous versions of iOS now 15.1. Would love an upgrade to enable cutting and pasting for entering and saving numbers. Still have my old HP, used it with a pencil and paper. Now it would be better to cut and paste numbers to and from other programs. It’s a great calculator, could be better..Version: 2.3.4

Needs software update.I recently received a message that this version of the app will not be supported on future iOS releases. I hope HP will continue to support it and come out with an update soon. I'm currently using iOS 10.3. It's a great calculator otherwise..Version: 2.0.1

Back up to dateA few improvements over the older version, not least of which is the quieter key click sounds. I was dreading the thought of losing the 15c, I can upgrade to iOS 11, now..Version: 2.1.2

Thanks for updating to 64 bit and iOS11Much appreciated, would have missed using the HP 15c greatly..Version: 2.1.2

64 bit HP 15C!!Thank goodness it’s here! The app is awesome. The original calculator is the awesome progenitor (I still have it from the early eighties and I love it: it continues to work.) It is the best scientific hand calculator ever made and the app is true to the originals functionality and works great on the iPhone!.Version: 2.1.2

HP calculator enthusiastThis is a superb emulation of the original Hewlett-Packard HP 15C calculator. I should know. I had an HP 15C when it was new. It took me through physics and calculus in college and the start of my engineering career. Regretfully a trip though the washer and dryer in the pocket of a jacket killed that calculator. I have bought and used other calculators but the 15C has always remained my favorite. When I saw this app, and it was made by Hewlett-Packard, I did not hesitate to purchase it. Reports the the app does not work with the latest iOS are out of date. Hewlett-Packard updated the app and it works flawlessly. As of this review I am using iOS 12.1.4..Version: 2.1.2

HP 15C Limited EditionAfter installing app I was surprised that there was no trig or programming but the calculator switches to all features mode when rotated from portrait to landscape. The manual displays nicely too. I was puzzled by limited edition and discovered HP has reissued the 15C hardware recently and is available for ordering as of June 2012..Version: 2.0.1

Sturdy and trustworthyThis is the best RPN calculator bar none. Yes, there have been copycats of the original 12c and 15c but they all try to improve upon something that is already perfect in my books. The only thing I miss is the feel of the original physical devices..Version: 2.0.1
