Suggester : Chords and Scales for Positive User Reviews

Brilliant!A very good app indeed. Saves me a lot of wasted time previewing chords. This is a brilliant app that easily inspires new chord variations that can be used in GarageBand-Smart instruments. Well done boys. Hope to see some strings built in with the next update..Version: 1.0

UsefulI find this app useful for writing stuff like backing tracks, and other stuff. I wish you could have other instruments/instrument effects, Like the piano and electric piano, so it’s be something like guitar, distortion guitar, chorus guitar, etc. I also wish that instead of hitting just chords, you could add individual notes to your song. So If I wanna transition between chords for instance , emadd9 and Cmaj7, in between those chords I could add a few individual notes, probably e-d-g-a-c. Also there’s a few scales not on here like melodic minor and it’s modes, and a few harmonic minor modes too. Last thing is that you probably wanna use more complex poly chords. Let’s say I have an am/d poly chord, (which is really an with a d note as the bass) I could use a chord instead of just the note d, so it could be am/dm7, or something like that. So basically what I’m getting at is that we should get the chance to combine 2 (or more) completely different chords.Version: 7.2.3

This thing rocksStraightforward, easy, creative. Build your song here. Laugh, cry, profit..Version: 12.12.2

Wonderful, however..I really wish you had the diagrams to go along with the chords, at least for the piano and the guitar, I always have to switch back and forth between apps, which is quite a nuisance...Version: 6.0

Perfect in a small bandMost starting bands have different musical knowledge, this can really help you get other members up to speed on chord progressions and scales without much knowledge. They can simply hear what sounds good along with what's possible in the scale. I use it a lot for experimenting and jamming with my friends :D.Version: 2.0

Tried them all keep coming back to this appThis is a very useful app. I’ve tried all the chords apps available and several are good but for useability, I keep coming back to this app. I would like to see a few additional features. Please add the ability to arpeggiate a section instead of just everything, can be added in the edit tab. Also some rhythm options would be great. Again could be added per part from edit, where you change timing. Inversions would be nice. Great app..Version: 12.9.0

Simple, Helpful, PerfectAs someone who typically thinks of a melody at the most inopportune times, Suggester has become invaluable to me. It allows me to get down those melodies I would otherwise have lost. It’s easy to use and crucial for me as a songwriter..Version: 7.2.3

Ridiculously awesome appThere might be other similar apps out there but the care put in the user experience really stands out. I am a professional music composer and this supports brilliantly my work. Congratulations! Great job. I bought the desktop app I was amazed then I downloaded the iPad app. I was a bit disappointed that I had to pay 20 more dollars but what can I say…it worth it..Version: 12.12.2

Your chord progression companionThere are not many apps that's worth shelling $5 out for in in-app purchases but this is definitely one that's worth every dime! Great for those after a handy chord progression generator. Great work developer/s! Would love for an option to easily backup/restore all the data:).Version: 1.3

SuggesterJust wanted to say Thanks for that great App! It's an amazing sophisticated simple tool! What I like the most here that it doesn't tell you what you should do, but gives you everything right in front of you. Just pick your scale and then choose what's within but still you have to do it yourself! And that is the best for real creative musicians! Again massive Thanks! Regards.Version: 1.9.9

Incredibly usefulGives me such inspiration to sketch jazz progressions especially. Brilliant! Is there a way to lengthen the time of a chord. Like, hold it for longer? Devs replied..yes you can..thank you !.Version: 7.2.2

Perfect songwriting companion!Amazing app! Tells me what the most appropriate chords are for my chosen scale and allows me to build a great chord progression. Makes for the perfect app while I'm on the train! I can just place the chords in a sequencer app and write songs on the go. Highly recommended!!!.Version: 1.0

Great app for songwritingMy go to app for figuring out chord progressions. Really useful app for composition. Love how easy it is to locate and use complex chords.Version: 12.8.0

Great!!!This is pretty cool, only thing I would add is the ability to put all different inversions/arpeggios in as you please such as something simple like CEGC, bSically the ability to alter the chord as tou please, a small thing but would be awesome......unless you can and I've missed it?.Version: 1.6

Review review reviewThis app is great. I couldn't even play guitar before I got it..After using it I was able to play blistering lead breaks and I composed 6 number one songs. Girls laugh at my jokes and people take me seriously now. Buy this app.Version: 3.1.2

A musician's dream.I would definitely recommend this app: great work devs. Will buy soon..Version: 1.9.9

The best of all chord apps,I’ve been using Suggester on iOS & my Mac for a year & now with the AUv3 format it is clearly worth more than every penny. No other app offers this easy to use & comprehensive palette of extended (jazzy or classical sounding) chords, their functions & the ability to modulate keys & borrow chords from other scales & modes. Highly recommended..Version: 9.0.1

Helpful for musiciansIt's a really good app for people who don't know how to work out scales and stuff. However it does't tell how to play them and stuff but that's fine because that not what I brought the app for. What I brought it for was working chords of scales and mixing them together Which this app dose perfectly !.Version: 1.9.5

Very greatBuild beautifully and effective.Version: 12.12.2

Would love ableton linkExcellent chord app, would love to see ableton link added and start stop working from audiobus as the timing is out with other apps, they are the only things missing otherwise great app.Version: 5.4

Great composition toolThis app is a great way of exploring chords associated with a key, for creating a song. It allows building a song with chord structure and hearing the result. It highlights all the chords that will work chromatically with the chosen key, and has ability to hear the options before and during selection process. Very flexible in the way that you use the app, to develop your required texture..Version: 7.2.2

AwesomeOnly complaint is not being able to mix the minors together, lots of artists mix the natural minor with the harmonic in terms of chord progressions. In the recommended chords lost there should just be a small section called harmonic minor equivalents which shows the diatonic chords in the various minor scales. Cheers though for an awesome app!!.Version: 1.5

Stellar tool for composingLove it.Version: 14.1.10

Great support from the developer!Loving the app. Noticed an issue when exporting to MIDI with repeat sections and within a very few days there was a new release to fix the issue. Fantastic! Thanks, Mathieu - keep up the good work..Version: 9.7.1

Better than ever!Chord suggester was great to start with and has only improved. Great layout and work flow, excellent related chords/scales setup. MIDI export and more. I've downloaded a fair few of these apps and this is the one, absolute magic for song writing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.Version: 3.0

Underrated yet powerfulAnd now we have au3 support ... Good work 😀.Version: 9.0.1

Excellent composition and chord learning appReally like this. Pick your key and get advice on how to build progressions based on the key and associated chords. Easy to transpose to other keys and the options to spice up the progressions are great. Listen to it and change to get the song spot on. Great for guitarist to check chord progression and options of chords ie 7ths, 9ths sus2 add 9 etc etc. Also for the key chosen it will show the tonics you have or for non scale chords things like secondary dominants eg V7/II which is great as I haven't seen this in any other app to date. Easy to use and I'm told hendrix chord & harmonic minor scale to come..Version: 1.2

Precisely what I was looking forI'm a producer who has spent more time learning sound design & sound engineering than I have classical training. Although I turn to the piano to compose I can find calling up suitable chord progressions daunting on a tight timescale. This app is now highly likely the first thing I will turn to now. It's design & layout couldn't be more ideal; little touches like the arpeggiate function are so very welcome. I'm not exaggerating when I say this could be one of my best musical investments. I'll be interested to see how the MacOS version sits beside an open Logic Pro X window. In short, I genuinely recommend this..Version: 5.2

Blown awayJust downloaded and after using it for 5 min I am AMAZED. No excuse to not write songs. Choose a chord progression, create a sweet tune, and add some lyrics, and hit record! Is it possible to record over the chords by connecting the app to my iPhone voice recorder?.Version: 6.2.2

Perfect!I've been messing around on Ableton for years now, and have produced a couple tracks - but it took a long time because I don't have a musical background at all. The hardest part for me has always been writing my own melodies and hooks. This app is a great find! Hopefully I can start making tracks faster now! Thank you!.Version: 2.3

Great Simple Way to Save IdeasI love how simple and clean this is. Sometimes I’ll hear a little riff or a pretty chord while I’m out and want to incoporate it into something. This app is a great way to compose progression ideas on the fly. If you don’t have extensive musical theory it’s also setup in a way that you can just fiddle with it and figure it out by ear pretty quickly, so great for untraditional musicians. The only downside is there’s no easy place to write notes/lyrics while listening to your chords..Version: 7.1

Almost perfect5 stars for functionality. The only chord progression application that uses Roman numeral notation 100% correctly and doesn’t limit you to diatonic chords, plus lets you enter inversions, altered bass notes, the whole ball of wax. Perfect export to FL Studio Mobile, and midi. Interface needs a couple things. Ability to collapse sections, and start play from middle of progression. Also, some longer notes would be better if they would sustain to the end. But those are minor quibbles. Best chord progression app out there..Version: 5.5

Cool butWhere are 11 and 13th chords?.Version: 1.5

Love this appI love trying out ideas with this tool.Version: 10.1.2

Extremely good and well worth the price of the IAP.I downloaded this app some time ago but I didn’t use it and I was about to uninstall it as I had forgotten what it was for. Instead of doing that I took a look at the app and a couple of You Tube videos, and I realised that it was something very useful that I had been looking for without realising that I already had it. For £7.99 I’ve got a very useful app which works with most of my iOS synths, and I have quite a few. In fact I tried running an arpeggiator app between Suggester and a synth app, and it worked like a dream so if an app will accept midi input, it will probably work with Suggester. My knowledge of music theory is very limited, in fact it’s close to non existent. I understand the C Major scale and can pick out a simple melody on a keyboard, especially in C Major Pentatonic, but I’m hardly another Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson or Jordan Rudess. I use Captan Chords on my PC with Reason as my DAW of choice, and this is fairly close to Captain Chords but for iOS devices. It took me a few minutes to work out how to change note lengths and alter the timing of rests, but within the first hour of using it, I had set it up in Audiobus 3 and recorded a track using BeatHawk and Cubasis. This is an excellent app for the musically illiterate who, like me, want to be able to make music but have never had the opportunity to learn the conventional way. Some people will sneer of course, because they are elitist idiots who won’t accept that computers and apps are a legitimate way to produce music. I’ve heard their snide comments many times and have learned to ignore them..Version: 7.2.1

Useful appThis is very useful when studying music as well as composing your own music. You can hear what each chord sounds like and it will suggest to you what chord to choose. All chords for a certain key are grouped together. I find this app useful when studying sheet music as I can hear each chord and it tells me what notes are used to create the cord. I hope to write my own music..Version: 1.5

Best chord progression appAmazing work!! I like to switch up chords and go into different keys and this app makes it happen..Version: 9.0.3

Totally awesome! So many things you can do with this... For instance, add as instrument in BeatMaker on midi channel 1. Add a bunch of chords. Now, add a new pad instrument. By default it will also be on channel 1. Go to Suggester and put a chord into midi learn. Pop back out to the pad instrument and hit a pad. That pad will now play the chord. With a bit more effort, you can also have the chords play on any other internal or external instrument. You get much better chord duration this way, among other things. My only suggestion is to make octave assignment configurable per chord. BRAVO!.Version: 7.1

Fabulous app, unlock is priceyI loved this app, it gave me a great tool to come up with some sweet progressions the interface is nice and the options to change instrument is a great idea, adding a few more instruments would be good. The upgrade is quite expensive so my five star rating would be due if that changes.Version: 1.8.1

Great app with room for improvementBest app for composing chord progressions. Where it could use improvement is on entering the rhythms, it’s a bit tedious. Also someway to pick which chord you start from on playback would be great. If you are working on a long progression it can be tiresome to have to hear the entire part you’re working on over and over just to see what minor rhythm changes will sound like. Though it should be said that w/ the pro version you can just use Suggester as an auv3 midi controller and just punch in the rhythms yourself within a daw. Still very useful app that is totally worth the iap price to upgrade to pro..Version: 11.0.2

AwesomeIntuitive, informative, everything someone who wants to build chord sequences needs. Current chord selection is great but could do more!! Thank you!!.Version: 4.3

Best music writing app for all platformsI cannot say much more than that. This is the best music writing app on all platforms. I’m not talking DAWS or effects or this or that. I am talking about writing, arranging, finding chords. If you are weak in music theory but can hear your song in your head, this is a must. Great for learning and growing. And it seems better than the last time I used it. As well, I got the message it’s been expanded basically to all platforms. I started with iOS (iPad, iPhone) BUT I will be buying for desktop. More than likely eventually OSX and Windows version. Please support this developer. This is so much better than anything out there. So full of value. I can basically write a whole song and than export the near final version, and use another DAW for the “flavouring” thank you!.Version: 14.1.2

Good!!! (but missing one key feature)This app really helps me transcribe ideas in my head. Very useful for situations that don’t allow access to a piano, or guitar. The only downside is that there seems to be now feature that allows you to use triplets without using a 3/4 or 6/8 time signature. While polyrhythms and compound signatures are cool, it would be nice to be able to use triplets in 4/4 time..Version: 6.5.3

Great App!Excellent for coming up with chord progressions when you are away from your instrument. A great benefit to any musician!.Version: 1.5.1

The choice tool for linking your instruments toI’m grateful development on this app is perpetual, especially lately when it comes how the overall song structure is made and kept. You not only have all the basic chord options you’d expect but options for voicing, inversions, bass note, etc. For the most part it’s straightforward with a light learning curve when it comes to building your song structure. All I can think of now as a request is for the AU preferences to stay consistently saved since I always have to change them when loading it up (no bass note, preview note length, default note length, etc) Thank you for this app!.Version: 10.3

Edit: the app works, and is usefulUpdate: I contacted the developer, and after a very quick response time, he cleared up the issue and now I am happy to say the app works as intended. Thanks Dev!.Version: 14.1.10

Had it for yearsIt just keeps getting better!.Version: 13.3.1

Great appJust the right tool for quick idea sketches. Would b nice to have more control over how to listen back to sequences, but ideal as a sketchbook to work on ideas quickly when pushed for time.Version: 2.0

Incredible songwriting toolExcellent on iPhone, iPad and Mac.Version: 12.6.0

So helpful!!!! Thank you!!!I don’t know very much about music theory and this app was such a lifesaver! I used to have to spend hours at a time looking up the chords in different keys and playing them until I could find something that worked well, but with this app all I have to do is press a few buttons. What used to take me hours is now taking minutes. Thank you so much!.Version: 10.1.1

Latency issu with iPad Air 3I am running iPad OS 13.6.1 and while constructing chord there was noticeable latency between when I touch the chord and when the device produces a sound. I tested it on my Xs Max and there was no latency whatsoever. I restarted my iPad and still there was this annoying delay that I did not know before. Waiting for the fix soon. This is a great app for songwriters though..Version: 10.3

NiceCould you add the harmonic minor scale?.Version: 1.8.1

Very useful songwriting tool.At first I felt a little overwhelmed with all the choices and how hard it seemed to sculpt a chord progression out of this app. After a little bit of practice with it I can’t say enough how great this is. You have most chord combinations possible with their inversions. The metronome and loop button allow you to practice different vocal melodies over the main idea of the song. And finally when you’re done you can easily export the midi data to use in your DAW for any project. Definitely recommend this app to anyone in a rut with their song writing..Version: 9.7.1

Great!Great app! I've written some fantastic songs using it. It would great if an option was available to change the chord positions ( root, first inversion, second inversion ect)..Version: 1.2

Fantastic ApplicationPersonally I struggle with playing instruments, I do love composing tho. If you ever wanted to hear how chords sound next to one another without having to play them, this is the app for you. I have assembled many songs using this application with very little effort. Once I have the progression. I take it in my DAW (Logic X) and that's where you truly discover the power and time saving of this app.. Chord changes that you would never think of are possible because of this app. Go ahead and get it. You will not be disappointed..Version: 4.2

Just Plain UsefulThis app is just plain useful. I have been making noises which occasionally resemble music for about the last forty years or so and I have never got on with music theory, until very recently and this app has a great deal to do with it! I now almost get it and - I hope -my material has improved/ is improving because of it. So thank you to the developer for the comprehensive nature of the contents of the app..Version: 7.1

Best chord assist on iOS.I’ve tried them all. This is the best. Needs a latching option and a way to have chords hold for longer than a whole note in song mode... or better yet, a clock divider after Link in. Then you could set it to /4 or something for slower chord changes when driving an arp. Right now you have to bind song chords to midi notes and sequence the progression outside of app. But still, this is a very powerful tool. The best bonus feature? You can use it in that floating side window thing on an iPad!.Version: 6.2.2

Excellent App!Excellent app that has helped me save so much time. Being able to compose chord progressions when I'm not in the studio then emailing myself the MIDI files is priceless..Version: 1.4

AwesomeI really like using this app. The one thing I wish it had was a function where you can build chords and scales from scratch and then let the app tell you what they are or are close to..Version: 6.2.1

Works great, but the sound is too silent. Please fix the sound issue. I can barely hear the chords on my phone speaker, even with the sound turned all the way up..Version: 5.5

Great App! So helpful! It took me a little while and some communication with the programmer to realize the potential of this app. Now I think it is awesome! Previously I didn’t understand how easy it to find a great rhythm and chord progression. Then I realized that you can sort of jam with it. I select a scale, look at all the chords associated with that scale, and sort of tap around until on them till I find something that sounds good. Then I add those to the song. Then I change the rhythm around. That’s one way. Another way is to hang out on one chord for some beats, adding in sus, aug or dim here and there with rythms as well. Totally cool. Export, control devices, learn piano chords, all kinds of stuff. The only thing is you have to calculate the rythm to fit a time signature yourself, esp if you export. But not being limited to time signatures has advantages and takes music to a new level..Version: 9.1

GreatThis app has really expanded my chord vocabulary and helped me to write and develop new songs with my saxophone. This is a great investment and songwriting tool..Version: 7.2.3

The fastest full version purchase I’ve ever madeThink of it less as paying for an app and more as paying money for a robust, accessible, easily navigable dictionary of every dumb music theory concept you forgot the name of until you saw it in a list, along with tons of others that you never even thought to use but want to try now. I felt like I was cheating on a test. Like I’d found a forbidden tome of knowledge. It is every music enthusiast with a terrible memory’s dream come true. Also it exports midi and has ableton live intergration truly you cannot go wrong!.Version: 12.4.5

Great tool, still have limitationsLoved the app. Since i'm a jazz player, this tool still have limitations. Can you add in the "add" ,"omitted", "sus"..etc... as an option to the chord? just like the one you did with "voicing"? I play alot of chords like "9sus4", "7(o5)", "9b5(13)", "add9sus4" , "Maj7b5",... and alot more of those jazz chords. This tool would be so powerful if this problem solved. (Sorry for my bad English).Version: 6.4.3

Really usefulThe best Chords helping app ever !.Version: 1.5.2

BrilliantVery educational and useful. Thanks so much!.Version: 9.2

The Ultimate Chord AssistantI'm relatively new to music and just started using this app, and it's led me into a world of music I thought was beyond my reach. So far, so brilliantly good!.Version: 3.2

Less is not moreI was evaluating this app, and thinking I would buy the full version. Then an update arrived and took away midi out...unless I pay up. Less is not more. I may still buy this, but I can't help feeling a little peeved. Nic.Version: 5.1

My favorite music app… one small thingI would love the option to switch time signatures within a song (even if it’s just between sections) - that’s the only real issue. Other than that this is my favorite music app and there’s a reason I’ve used it for years!.Version: 14.1.0

I LOVE this app!!This app is so awesome for creating more interesting music compositions from the suggested chords. I have been using this for my songwriting and it has helped tremendously. I do wish there was an undo button because sometimes I’ll change something and wish I hadn’t and an undo option would be so nice! This app is great and I highly recommend it if your new to music theory or still learning advanced chord structures. Major time saver and easy to use. Thank you for making this app!!.Version: 8.3.1

Wonderful!Awesome app for writing songs on the go. Would love to be able to transpose individual chords by an octave..Version: 1.5

Helpful composition toolVery simple, easy to use interface that does what it says on the tin. Useful for sketches of chord progressions that can then be developed in sequencers or using pencil and paper. The only thing missing is a description of the additional features if you decided you want to pay for the Pro version (or I haven't found the button for it yet!) Keep up the good work..Version: 1.5.2

Great for trying out your ideasThis app is a great way to try out you ideas for harmonic progressions. It’s convenient because you can use it on your mobile device or Mac anywhere you go, on the spot. Consequently, you can record your ideas when inspiration strikes. Later, you can work them out and transfer your ideas to other tools for refinement. It’s a fabulous tool more musicians should use..Version: 10.3

BrilliantBest app for creative composing … period!.Version: 12.4.2

Great app, but one thing...This really is a great suggestion app. It makes sense for general use. but i am not getting any sound through midi support in Audiobus. no matter which app i run it through it does not control the synth. Am i over assuming what its interaction with Audiobus would be? I dont really want to hear general midi piano. I want to hear the synth app im using..Version: 6.1.1

One of the few developers I’m happy I patronizedThe steady development and the amazing LACK of updates that break anything has made this my favorite developer to date. Always adding, never taking, never extorting, never making a new version or changing the name to wring more money out of me, and I couldn’t be more impressed. Thank you Mathieu..Version: 9.0.1

Super Functional AppThis app is super helpful for designing chord progressions or just learning a bit about music theory. I love being able to alter chords on a whim and the variety offered is actually insane. I'm excited to try the new version. The guitar feature already has me really excited!.Version: 14.1.11

Great tool for chords and harmoniesGreat tool for chords and harmonies. Been using the original Suggester since 2018 for original compositions as well as working out transcriptions. This new version Suggester 2 is a nice upgrade and imports the old version files. Excellent response from support as well..Version: 14.1.10

No Interval numbering optionI’ve asked the developer to include an option to view the notes in each chord as numbers. For example, The C major chord - C E G can also be seen as 1 3 5. I like this app a lot which is why I support it but this option is invaluable and would be greatly appreciated..Version: 6.4.1

Best Chord Suggester and I’ve tried them allWith its ability to endlessly and easily provide common to complex chord progressions and then export them to midi files this is a must for musicians ( ands it’s never crashed or lost a single project in 3 years) 6 stars..Version: 12.4.1

Best tool everReally easy to use and great for coming up with good chord progressions looked at loads of apps before choosing this one and defiantly made the right choice! It even shows you all the notes in the key you've chosen so you can take it to your computer and get to work great.Version: 1.8.1

Only one requestI love this app, it helps me outline chords before I write music. I especially like that you can export as midi. And that you can change the note length to create rhythms is very helpful too so if I have a rhythm in my head I don’t forget it. Also I love that you can separate into sections and loop each section or the whole thing! My only request would be to add 6ths to the possible chords because if I’m thinking of using a 6th I can’t hear it as part of the progression! Other than that this is my go to app every time I’m writing a song..Version: 5.4.1

YayExcellent app. Brilliantly executed, well designed, extremely intuitive. Thank you for taking the time to build this app. I will be making a purchase of the full version to allow myself to save more than one series of progressions. Thanks again and keep up the good work..Version: 1.9.5

PerfectWish for more instruments like bass or synth.Version: 1.5.1

Great app, get it.I’ve been using this app on my iPads and macOS as well, for over 6 months. It’s very good, frequent updates, does what it’s supposed to do, flawlessly and efficiently. Love it very much..Version: 6.4.1

Amazing app but could do with more scales!Amazing app! It’s really made it easy to quickly “sketch down” a progression while it’s fresh in my mind which is great for people who are on the go. It would be great if a few more scales were added including the modes of the melodic minor, harmonic minor etc... such as Lydian dominant, altered scale, Ukrainian minor etc... just a suggestion!.Version: 7.1

Great appI would highly recommend this app. Well layout and easy to follow Great work We give new chord progression ideas, voicings and extended chords. 10/10.Version: 12.9.0

Top quality.Awesome app. So glad to see PC version released. If purchased here can we have access to PC? Thank you.Version: 14.1.0

Excellent. Well done and thank you!I am very enthusiastic about this app. Great for student song writers who aren't at their instrument. Good for ear training and copying progressions from songs. And free! If they start charging a couple of dollars it will be worth it. got to go try some new ideas on Suggester.....Version: 1.5

BrilliantIve had this app for a couple of years, and never really used it. But recently rediscovered it and now im using it pretty much everyday. Love being able to write a great song sketch and then dump it via midi directly into my DAW..Version: 7.2.3

Khurmiful excellent app, helps me a lot with my musicOne has to buy the full version for £3, and after that enjoy the app. Easy to use and so far the best app in it's type I've come across..Version: 7.3.1

Deserves more praiseWhat a fab little app, really impressed in the intuitive way you can build ideas and vary chords. Very clever. Mr developer: i wouldn't listen too much the requests for different arp/performance settings and such because this is not a DAW and has great value in the other things it provides What I might request is the ability to group progressions and modulate to different keys within a document (maybe even suggesting keys in the same format as the chords)...also, guitar chord diagrams would be a great addition Thanks!.Version: 2.1.4

GreatGreat app does just what I want for creating chord vamps to jam along with. Let's me build my own. My only suggestion would be to improve or give more options to the guitar sound. Will be sticking to piano and vibes for the time being. Paying for the more advanced chords and minor keys seems fair..Version: 2.0

Love this app!!This is really a great tool to use for all skill levels. For myself one of the great things is it’s helping me to have a better understanding of chords- training my ear and also to easily put together a song without having to sit at a piano. You can create a song while on a subway train and by the time you arrive home you can sit down at the piano and play. It suggests chords for you so even someone who has zero knowledge of music can create. Truly a great app and I highly recommend it !.Version: 9.4

Just what I needed !Great for putting ideas together. Worth the upgrade to the unlocked version..Version: 1.5.2

BrilliantWhat a great bit of kit! I’ve been looking for something like this to explore playing over chords in jazz and it works very well!.Version: 6.6.1

Fantastic for sketching chord progressions.I find this invaluable, especially for someone like me with, with my rudimentary keyboard skills. I can now try things on the fly, learn new chords, transmit the progression as a midi file over Bluetooth, drop it my DAW and further modify it. Love it..Version: 9.7.1

ExcellentThis is a wonderful resource. The interface is nice and clean. I especially like that the notes of each chord are displayed prominently. Great work!.Version: 2.1.6

Mind blowingThis app is the best music app ever hands down. I’m a ,suicidal producer and I always wanted to play some sounds that I heard in my mind but I didn’t know how to achieve them until I find this app. I mean my production sounds improved so much that even the pro are asking me to share some chords selection with them. So please if you want to sound professional in your sound I’ll definitely recommend this app..Version: 9.2

Slick but scale modes are missingThis app is fantastic in terms of it’s organisation and is intuitive to use. Majority of the melodic minor, harmonic major & minor modes are missing. Hope they will all be included in an update..Version: 10.4.4

Great appVery useful for new guitarists learning how to song write and create progressions.Version: 1.9.5

Very useful songwriting toolEasy to use and navigate. Good way to start off songs. The ability to export the MIDI file is very useful. As a professional music producer I find this a very useful tool..Version: 14.0.1

Great App!Ability to input melody would make this great app even greater like that of Hookpad of Hooktheory. 😊.Version: 5.1

Really useful for composing and theoryThis is probably the most useful chord app for writing songs and exploring chord substitutions. Wish List: 1. Option to include sections with all the inversions of the triad and 7th chords so I don’t have to click through the gui to add inversions. 2. Keyboard to modify the chords - add or subtract notes or spread notes through the keyboard. 3. Horizontal rather vertical chord player. (This might be difficult given the current design.) 4. Drop down from an open state to see all the available saved files..Version: 14.1.0

Love itIf you are a song writer you gotta get this. Love it.Version: 1.5

Almost everything I want out of such an app! This is a great app for the most part. I use it to write progressions in my down time on my bus commute, and it’s great for that! I have a couple of thoughts on features that I think would make this even better: 1. When altering a chord in an existing chord structure, it’d be awesome if we could change the root not and not just the chord itself. There are work-arounds for this, but it would be a much cleaner way. 2. It would be amazing if we could transpose a composition! This is literally the only reason I almost give this 4 stars instead of 5. (Or does his feature exist and I can’t find it?) Anyway, thanks for this great app, I use it all the time!.Version: 7.4

Make beautiful musicNow you can include rich complex chords to your own compositions and pick better progressions. All the notes of the chord are listed and its really helped my study of music. I keep my ipad by my keyboard and can choose any number of variations and nuances to support my playing just by sampling the logical or harmonic alternatives. My wife can't believe the sounds I'm producing now - I'm finally learning those 'killer chords'!.Version: 5.1

AmazingDoes great chords and progressions. Just as advertised!.Version: 6.6.2

If you can’t play.....Then this is the app for you. So many different chords to choose from in so many different variations. Want different inversions? You got it. Want a different bass note? You got it. Different octaves; it has those too. And it’s a freemium app; try the free version and if you want more buy it. Plus it works in AUM with the loop function back you don’t have to write out the whole song; loop the chords till you have what you need. Great buy!.Version: 9.7.1

Well-designed and easy to use!Downloaded it, played with it, purchased it. Worth it for the way it lets you play and around experiment with chords and progressions. The export MIDI feature is handy if you’re working in a DAW as well. People complaining that all the features aren’t available for free are silly. Once you mess with the app, experience the intuitive interface, and realize how much time It can save you, you’ll be screaming SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!.Version: 12.14.0

Great but I have a suggestion ;)I wish in future you guys make it possible to pick chords without closing/hiding already selected chords... so you don’t have to go back and forth guessing how they will sound in sequence . (Basically have a possibility to preview already selected chords and the one that we are adding) That feature will make this app flawless. Good luck, and thanks to dev/s for hard work!.Version: 6.0

Great! From a musicianThis is perfect for what I am after. I am a music producer, been musical all my life, and this is perfect to show a list of related chords on the screen that I can tap away and see what order emotionally works for my next piece (there is suggestion I see in there too). This is exactly what I was looking out for. It's quick, and clear to use. I compared to a couple of others and this was just clear and that's all I wanted. Quick access to related chords I could hear. Bought the full version immediately. Well done guys. Highly recommend.Version: 3.1.2

OpusThe developer continues to enhance this great music theory and musically creative app on a regular basis 🙏🙏🏿. I will summarize...you can condense two or three years of music theory into your work flow with this app . The app facilitates coherent expansive possibilities for chord progressions with control of note length ,voicing , even arppegiation and so rapidly assists in developing a robust basis for composition and also gives the ability to explore more adventurous chordal structures . This app facilitates rapid advances in work flow for those with some music theory and those who don’t. It’s easy to use I use this app to experiment with chord substitutions , most of which I don’t currently know so can’t play...this aspect adds novel feeling during composition. Well worth the price for any composer in-fact cheaper than a few greasy chips..a kebab and a smelly taxi home . 🙏🙏🏿👍🎩🦄.Version: 12.2.2

AwesomeSuper nice !.Version: 5.5

How to write a million dollar songJust download this app and if you’ve got the music in you, you will open up a world of song creation... without years of music theory. I’ve downloaded several similar apps and this app showcases the most beautiful and complex chords you will ever work with. It’s almost like having a professional songwriter plant the seeds of creativity into your fingers. This will be the last chord progression app I ever buy..Version: 6.2

MagnificentThis app has all the features you could dream of to help you deal with chords. It is a wonderful learning companion for beginners who want to master the complexities of chord names and variations. More advanced players and composers will enjoy the power and flexibility of all its amazing creative tools. I would give 6 stars if I could !.Version: 12.11.3

Amazing App!!!This is an amazing app! I have leaned a lot about chords from using it. But it would be great if there was some way to save progression patterns like the Classic Progressions section. If I see a pattern I like somewhere in the wild it would nice to be able to save it without having to make a whole new document. Otherwise it’s a perfect app!.Version: 12.12.2

Great AppVery useful for when you don’t have a keyboard or want to learn more about the different types of chords. I’ve used it to make a few beats and it’s helped me write some songs. Definitely worth the $$$.Version: 9.5.4

YESOH MY WHERE was this app all my lifeeee.Version: 7.2.1

UsefulImpressive, well thought out app but I was quite surprised that I couldn't change the time signature. If that could be considered in an upgrade it would be more useful to me. Thanks..Version: 4.2

Buy immediately! As a typical amateur muso’ I know bits of theory and have read much which I didn’t really absorb. This app has turned theory into practice, I hear and I finally understand. Secondary dominants, leading tone, tri tone subs etc., all right there. Could we have ii/? to go with the V/? That may be an illiterate question, but I’m getting there. Brilliant app, buy > upgrade > experiment > understand (or don’t)..Version: 14.1.0

TranspositionThe ability to shift chords up or down an octave would have added greater depth when previewing / looping riffs..Version: 1.6

Great App !It’s a great app and taught me a lot about chords , progressions etc. Only thing I’ve noticed and unless this is just me, but when I play the same keys of the chord on Logic Pro X, Logic displays a different chord to Suggester. Why is that ?.Version: 6.4.3

ExcellentThis is a great app for composition. Easy to use and fun to try out new progressions..Version: 2.0

Awesome! This app is great! So easy to string some chords together and perfect for those moments when you can't quite figure out the last chord in your progression is..Version: 1.9.5

Great appGreat app, very good at keeping consistent updates which is great and overall a very useful app would recommend for anyone doing anything music orientated.Version: 2.5

Super Creative AppWether you are a chord genius or novice, this app is very useful for experimenting with different chord sequences. Quick and easy, it boosts your general knowledge of chords. However I would like to be able to select the bass note for each chord, and maybe even the length it is held down for (half/twice as long etc), and then i'd give it a well earned full 5*s.Version: 1.8.1

FreethosVery useful app for composing chord progressions on the go. Mac app is good, but would be even better if it intergrated as a DAW plugin..Version: 10.1.1

PotentialThis app has great potential but it does not incorporate variation as to how the chords are played. The arpeggio function plays just a single style; real musicians vary how they play chords. You cannot just strum the guitar with one single pattern; this is what this app does. I like how it gives the user options of sequencing chords though. Give users more playing styles chordally and or through arpeggio styles and this app would fly. Not yet 5 stars but good..Version: 1.7

BrilliantJust wrote some chords using this app to a dnb track i have been working on. Heavy, works a treat and does everything i need to compose as i am not musically gifted. MIDI export is a great feature too. And its FREE!.Version: 1.5.1

Perfect for chord suggestions and a well made app!Great app! Runs smoothly, has a great tutorial to get you started, and it’s perfect for chord suggestions!.Version: 7.4

Thank youTo the person who made this app, I salute thee! I wish I could be a small African bush monkey, chilling in a cave where all my jungle friends and I could be together...Version: 1.5.2

THIS IS MAGICI love this app, normally it would take me some time to write complimentary chords but since finding this it’s a cakewalk, it really helps you find the best sounding chords for your project and saves so much time in the process. Really let’s me focus on creating rather than theory. Recommend highly A++ Edit: please add ability play chords while you listen to the ones you’ve already chosen! Not sure what’s involved in that but it would be great to hear what you already have and AND pick at the same time! Still a fantastic app!.Version: 6.5.3

Wow!This app is amazing. I’m creating and learning at the same time..Version: 12.9.0

Great WorkI enjoy this app a lot for many reasons here are a few: One - It’s easy to create ambient and other genre progressions. Two - It’s super easy to import and export files to other devices/applications. Three - If you have a music theory background this what happens when chord progression theory and automation have a child. Four - Having the full application is totally worth it, every feature is needed and wanted. Five - the developer(s) are always updating and giving more features..Version: 9.5.2

Good price, useful featuresFor the money, this is a powerful tool if you already have a solid basic knowledge of music theory. It could use a guitar chord option, but I have other software that can do that..Version: 9.2

Love this app.Great design and content. Well worth it..Version: 6.0

BrilliantLove the amount of chords to choose from in this app! Great for finding chords to go with a vocal melody. Thank you for creating this gem :-) The only thing I would add is the option to define how long each chord lasts, at the moment they seem to change every 2 beats so if I want a chord to last for a whole bar I have to put it in twice and I can't do chords that only last for a crotchet length. Other than that I love it..Version: 1.9

Great, simple, bug-free appGreat songwriting tool for working out progressions. Also has a good tutorial making using the app easy.Version: 4.2

Very helpful appLove the simplistic nature of the design..Version: 6.4.4

I approveFree version is leagues ahead of other similar apps I've tried, I will be purchasing the free version within the hour..Version: 6.3.2

The bestThanks for your hard work on this apps. It is great and very useful. The sound quality of chord is good too ..Version: 1.2

Hard to fault.Along with "Guide Track", this songwriting aid is very useful. Does what it's supposed to do. A good writers block tool...if such a thing exists? The £4 upgrade gains access to a gazillion more chords. Worthy of 4*..Version: 3.1.6

Great potential...what a great app! .....now we just need midi clock out and possibly to choose the arpeggio. Please Please Please.... There's always one thing missing...can this be the first app to have all you need!.Version: 3.0

Really good app, minor issuesI really like the spirit of this app and its simplicity. Having the ability to sketch out chord progressions while standing on the subway is invaluable. A few things I would like to be improved. Having the ability to set how many times a section should repeat would make song building easier. Some scales are just incorrect, for example the C minor blues scale is spelled as C D# E# F# G A# rather than the more universally common C Eb F Gb G Bb. The difference is substantial: the second note in the scale is a minor third, not a sharp second; the last note a flat seven not a sharp sixth, etc. I believe most people think about the notes that way, unless I’ve been living under a rock. Similarly, certain chords are spelled with weird enharmonics, for example when in C major, the A7 (as secondary dominant) is spelled A Db E G, but we all know that the second note is a major third, i.e., a C, not a flat four (!). That’s just plain wrong..Version: 6.5.2

Esoteric made practicalIntuitive and easy way to tap very esoteric theory, right before your ears and eyes. Find families of chords in any number of scales and modes. Then hear subtle variations on piano playback to help sketch a song. Even though I’m guitar player, still very useful. Hats off to the developer!.Version: 6.6.2

Highly recommendedVery good app. My only suggestion is to add more automatic voicing, ie descending bassline and minimise finger movement, ascending top note, etc..Version: 7.1

Good StuffThis is a great app. I love it..Version: 5.5

Great toolI am a music teacher who writes orchestra arrangements of trad fiddle tunes. This app is a great tool for injecting fresh sounds into my charts..Version: 1.5
