Diabetes Tracker by MyNetDiary for Negative User Reviews

Good but room for improvementI've been using this for over a year and it was the best app I could find at the time, but it's still not perfect. You can enter food, blood glucose, insulin and exercise in detail, which has helped me to manage my Type 1 diabetes. Many of the foods are from the UK and US but you can enter new foods and create recipes. However, this can be a bit time-consuming and frustrating. The PhotoFood function can be quite picky about what it will and won't accept, but there seem to be few checks on the manual entering of data, so you have to trust other users. It can be hard to find similar food on the app when eating out because ingredients aren't listed. The bar code scanner doesn't work very well, and the search function can be touchy too. I also wish it was easier to see overall trends - the interaction of BSL, food and insulin over time. I've emailed the support team a couple of times and they seem to take suggestions on board, so hopefully it will improve. I don't think it's worth a monthly fee at the moment because users seem to do most of the work, but I'll continue using the standard version..Version: 4.13

Shady CompanyI purchased the full version of this app for $9.99 in 2013. And the full version of their regular version for $3.99 in 2012. This was before premium subscriptions became a thing that everyone is doing to bleed their customers dry. The problem is, they took away the ability to import recipes from the web, which was in the versions I purchased and made that a premium subscription only benefit, despite paying for the full version that included that. At the time, $10 for an app was a lot. I’ve emailed them several times and was ignored completely. As if that weren’t enough, to add a recipe, you can’t paste a list of the ingredients, you have to search and add each one individually. So a few simple recipes can eat up my valuable time. This kind of business practice is deplorable. As a small business owner that prides myself of excellent customer service, I find the company’s ethics distasteful. There are too many other similarly priced apps that can do this job just as well. I would look closer at one of those..Version: 8.96

RubbishApp says it is suitable for gestational diabetes but it really isn't. When setting it up it asks for your target weight. Being pregnant and a healthy BMI I don't want to lose weight but it doesn't let you skip this. I am meant to eat 200cals extra per day but it doesn't allow this to be added to the target calories. My gestational diabetes is controlled by diet only and knowing how many carbs is in a food item is crucial and yet it doesn't tell you the amount of carbs when doing a food search. I am not interested in calories, if I wanted to diet I would use My Fitness Pal which is far superior. Biggest waste of money I have ever spent and would give it 0 stars if I could..Version: 4.41

D carbs not considering fibreTo be valuable for diabetics on insulin, D carbs need to consider the fibre and deduct from the total carbs. I paid for the diabetes version but D carbs not valuable until fixed. Till then save your money and use free version.Version: 8.15

Love it, with big reservationsI bought the premium version especially for the meal planner - but the meal planner is SO impractical &?hard to use. For one thing, you can’t copy a recipe (or a food) from Monday’s plan into Friday’s plan, even in the same week. You have to go through the same steps as though entering the recipe (or food)for the 1st time, over & over again. This is a major waste of time. Strangely, once you LOG the plan to the dashboard, THEN you can copy any recipe (or food, or any whole or part day’s entries) to any other day,,, but then it isn’t in the planner - this makes the planner obsolete in terms of further planning, checking macros, etc. There are other features of the dashboard log that aren’t available in the planner: you can’t reorder foods in a particular meal, for example. The same holds true for the whole weekly plan. You can’t lift a meal or a day of meals and paste it to a different week. But you CAN do this on the dashboard. In the planner, you can copy a whole weekly meal plan, but not parts of it. Who copies a whole week of menus without varying them? I’m just planning my meals on the dashboard & editing them, like I did before I paid for the planner! Also the “How To” videos are nearly impossible to learn from. They move at a very quick pace and often the screen shots are at a distance, so you can’t see them well or pause the video to figure out a particular transaction. I hope the planner AND the planner-teaching-videos get improved..Version: 8.83

Some false advertisingThey advertise that you can sync your diabetic data with an online website, but after you finish downloading their ridiculously priced $10 app, it's only then that you find out that it's another $9 PER month to use their website to sync your data. I ONLY bought this app so that I could sync it with a website and not have to always squint at my iphone screen. Scammers..Version: 3.60

SyncTakes ages to sync steps and calories from fit bit.Version: 7.84

Where’s the dotCan’t put the dot anymore. Example: you put 2,5 and can’t save. You have to put 2 or 3. Frustrating.Version: 5.45

Can’t Emil BG results anymoreYou used to (back in January of 2018) be able to email yourself blood glucose reports. They took that option away. Now you have to pay the monthly or yearly fee. Very disappointed I loved this app..Version: 6.44

Don’t buyI was shocked that the app just track what you enter manually not using the watch to measure with this price. Too priced for no added value, need to refund..Version: 5.45

Don’t waste your moneyWhen you see items in the database that are out of date and wrong they simply tell you that it’s in the database and it never gets updated which makes the database worthless for anyone that tracks nutrition. Additionally food companies don’t put all nutrition on the label and the makers of this app seem to lack the required level of intelligence to populate the missing information which makes the features that you are paying for a complete waste of money, you could therefore use the free version and end up with the same benefits. I am cancelling payment to this application and I strongly suggest that everyone follow suit. This irritates me so much that I give it a zero star rating!!!.Version: 8.35

Mynetdiary DI bought this app and it worked on both the iPad and iPhone Now it only works on the iPhone . I am truly disappointed as it is useless on the iPad even though it still loads. Save your time and money if you want the iPad functionality.in fairness they advertise that it only works on the iPhone now..Version: 4.41

Mo' money needed to speak to usOk. Would be a good app if reporting a bug didn't require you to upgrade to a monthly or yearly subscription, even if even after paying $10 (in this case, it crashes when trying to scan a food ups code). The charts are good and the UI is ok. But is it worth the $10? I'm not convinced (there are free apps that do a good job without the all the fluffy bells and whistles). What I was really hoping for was a stable, hassle-free and functional app. I guess 1 out of 3 ain't bad..Version: 4.20

Pretty Good But ....I really like this app but caution if using it for gestational diabetes, do not follow the weight/nutrition advice. Those with GD can still use it for tracking carbs and blood sugar levels, insulin, exercise and water intake etc which it’s really great at it’s just not tailored to give correct calorie and nutrition advice for women in different stages of pregnancy..Version: 5.45

Mr.It's not always accurate (nutritional values or food names) and the reporting table could be better formatted or have more options, but the app does it's job..Version: 4.85

Long time user - do not like new interfaceNew interface is clunky, too complex. Too easy to enter data and accidentally delete it. Reminders and buggy. Keeps adding 24 hours to target times causing reminders not to trigger. I am using my iPhone alarm to set reminders to test BGL after meals. Labels used to sort current to to the top and usual near it. Now there are a lot more labels but not sorted usefully so find what you want is a pain. Glucose Buddy did the same thing a few months back.... took a perfectly good useful app and trashed the interface. Am currently using the Classic option but data entry still clunky Hopefully these guys will fix this - the list of useful diabetes trackers like this one is short - This one and GB used to be among the best..Version: 6.24

Used to be good but swollen with brandsI have used this software for a couple of years in which it has declined severely. The main problem is all the home made foods have been replaced by thousands if brands from many countries - many you will never see. The result is I can't enter basic home made food - try a ham sandwich - 50 brands, little description, and no way of knowing what is closest to what you have eaten. Software almost useless as a result. Bye..Version: 4.20

DisappointedAlthough I use this app every day, which I think is good in itself, I am disappointed with the fact that it does not work with my fit bit (only the iPhone watch) unless I upgrade again, - which was not explained BEFORE I upgraded to the diabetes module, and tried to connect the two..Version: 4.85

Need to accommodate IF usersI love this app, and have been using a version since it first came out. I am not diabetic, but switched to this version when I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic several years ago. Knowing I had a family history, I wanted to be proactive, and this app gave me the tools to do that. The numbers of foods in the system is helpful, and it’s made a difference in the way I view eating. But… I’ve switched to intermittent fasting about 6 months ago, and only eat once a day, with a fairly late window. This has made a marked improvement in my A1C and I’m now much healthier in many ways. I know this will be my eating plan going forward. I tried several of the IF apps, but they’re all fairly rigid, and I don’t need the coaching and support in an app, so this app is still my “go to” tracker. If it would stop nagging me to log my breakfast first thing in the morning, I’d be very happy. Adding some settings to accommodate IF would make this the perfect app!!.Version: 8.49

Good appBut never got the bar code scanner to work! Pity it would save so much time!.Version: 4.0

Cumbersome and over-engineeredFor those who are insulin dependent, this app may be more useful, but for a pre-diabetic or someone who does not take medication for diabetes, this app is difficult to use, non-intuitive, and overburdened with useless features. If simple blood sugar tracking is your objective, the Glucose Companion app is a much better use of your time. I do not recommend this app..Version: 3.60

Nice appWork to do, over all 65% Better integration with Apple Watch an reporting Needed.Version: 5.14
