✓ Easy to use, flexibility in editingUpdate: I've used this app for four years now and still consider it top of the line. The advanced edit allows you to cut out middle sections of a recording easily. It's visual too - easy to go right to the problem area based on height of audio spikes. Speaking and comments are usually narrow bands compared to the wide bands when music or vocals are located in your recording. I use this app to record vocal tracks for sound qualifying. It is a one step process to convert a recording to MP3 format. It sends the MP3 as an email attachment to easily share with others. I like the feature that allows you to trim a recording and save to a new file. Great for cutting out conversations prior or after a vocal recording or just selecting a section of the music to focus on when practicing or sharing with others. Moving recordings to a folder involves checking a box, then move to folder to separate from recordings organized by date recorded or imported. Importing from Dropbox is easy and allows access between IPhone, IPad and desktop computers. I upgraded to the paid version and thought it was a true bargain. I've paid for other recording apps and quit using them because this app is the best..Version: 3.2.2
✓ More than 70hours recordedMore than 30 different occasions I’ve had the opportunity to use this Voice Record Pro App. I still have not discovered or utilised all of the many clearly explained functions and options with in the app functions. From the start of my recording needs, the basics like recording, saving, changing title names and sending to other devices through the AirDrop feature is easily and clearly explained. The delete function, the edit function and the save options are all clearly defined. The various recording options are all clearly defined. On my four different devices I can transfer, copy, save, rename, edit, bookmark and then send also to various other locations off the device itself. I do also use a few other recording apps but this is the best by far and has been my favourite so far. I have now been using Voice Record Pro App over the last eight months from my Apple devices . ✓ Professional, Versatile & FreeIt has everything I need. For a small app it has some useful fundamental basic features you need on the fly such as trimming and id3 tags, level sound meter with adjustable input gain. You can save as WAV, MP3 and MP4. It’s all you need really. There’s also numerous easy ways to save it, and transfer it over to PC so you can edit it more via more advanced software. The whole presentation also looks very professional and slick, the adverts are just small static unobtrusives one below (well it wouldn’t make sense if a loud commercial suddenly played first if you had to record something live quick, or whilst you’re trying to record a quick music demo (or something) now would it, lol). Anyway this has been the perfect app for recording my music and session jams. If I think of a good melody in my head I can now just pick this up anywhere and quickly record it (so I don’t forget) with simple ease. I so hope that any future updates are good ones, and not make the app over bloated, and also that they keep keep this free and keep the adverts to a minimum. I highly recommend this..Version: 3.3.6

✓ Voice Record ProI never give five star rating but this app is great. In November 2013 I purchased the upgraded voice record Pro. I did this because I was so impressed with this application. It works flawlessly, it is adaptable to many different types of recording situations. It’s audio engine can re-calibrate for any situation that exist at the time you need to record. You can record for various lengths of fixed times to prevent creating massive files. You can pause, re-start recording and then saved to anywhere. Features like bookmarking, editing, custom file names, etc. I especially like the ability to record while my iPhone as the screen closed and locked. ✓ Use it for recording podcastsI’ve been using voice record pro for a year and 1/2 now when recording my podcast Talking Codswallop. Excellent quality, you can arrange the levels and record low, medium or high depending on your situation. So easy to use & you can easily sync it up with Dropbox etc to transfer the audio files easily. Converting your audio from wav to MP3 is as simple as clicking a button. ✓ Professional and near perfect appI've been looking for a high quality voice recorder which this app is. Easy and intuitive to learn. Numerous export and import options, hifi and lowfi recording choices, editing, trimming and effects, handy input gain control, familiar VU meter. Few little issues when iPhone locked and pause not working while recording. Dec 17 did a long recording when the phone rang and the battery soon went dead. Couldn't find the recording. Checked the help menu which said I wasn't connected to the internet when I was. Tried to send feedback but app said 'not working try again later' so I'm still none the wiser. ✓ How do I sync recordings?I have this app on both iPhone and iPad. I would like to use the iPhone version but there doesn’t seem to be any way of syncing the two, and it’s not always convenient to carry the iPad. I’ve tried asking in Google but the only solutions seem to be about Voice Memos, which do sync, not Voice Record Pro. I’m not great at finding things out for myself; I have checked that the right things are turned on in Settings on both devices, but I can’t view on my phone the recordings made on iPad. ✓ The best free audio recording app, hands downDayana’s free version either holds up to or out-performs many of the paid audio recording apps I’ve used. It crushes all of the free ones without a doubt. The presentation of the app is very far from perfect... however, with a rework of the ui and some slight functional adjustments, I’d be willing to bet this app would sell like gangbusters in the App Store if it were up for something less than ten. ✓ Almost perfect!I’ve been using this app for years and have hardly scratched the surface of all its features. Everything’s available for free and you only pay if you want to get rid of the little ad banner at the bottom (but it’s not in the way at all). I’ve just discovered (after labouring for hours by hand) that the app does transcription as well! It seems to produce a stream of consciousness style (but then speaking naturally without punctuation, it would!). Having an issue with it timing out but I love this app so much, I’ll persevere and if it’s a bug I’ll forgive it and just keep it for high quality easy iPad recording. ✓ Great for bird songsI wanted something to record birdsongs to help ID the various concert-presenters in my yard. Very easy to go from install to recording in few easy steps. Was able to record and ID a grey catbird who performs nightly free concerts in our front yard. Exceptional sound clarity (probably owing more to 7S-plus mic). The virtual anaolog display makes it easy to see if it is picking up the sound that you want it to. I was able to edit the length to crop to just the part I wanted. Also able to pause the recording while waiting for loud car to pass. There was no noise on the recording (like an analog might) to indicate where I paused & resumed..Version: 3.6.2
✓ Very satisfied with this app!I’ve been dabbling in a masters program, listening to acoustic recordings for surveys and data collection. Those were recorded with more appropriate state of the art field equipment. I use Voice Record Pro to capture bird sounds on the go, as I hear things that I want to document, investigate more deeply, or use as a reference for what I’m hearing in my study recordings. This little phone app is quite impressive. I particularly appreciate how the gain settings can help pick up far sounds that I am barely hearing. ✓ Used to work on Apple Watch, but not any more.Been using the app for the last 12months and it’s been great. I used it mainly for audio recordings on my Apple Watch and it’s worked perfectly until March 2020. Now the recording will start correctly when I press “record” on the watch, but then it randomly stops recording for some reason. Perhaps the developer needs to fix this bug? ✓ Love the app... But want to knowI am basically using app for recording while driving with my gps and Bluetooth speaker. Can you tell me is it possible to receive voice directions from gps, while recording? I thought maybe the app would pause itself while receiving either gps directions or phone calls and then resume once the messages has been received. Please let me know is this possible and if so, how do I do it? I love the app and hope this can be done. I spend a lot of time in my car driving and want to be able to record while doing so. ✓ Great App with one annoyanceThe app is great, we use it for all our voice over auditions & work, however one annoyance is if you want to save your voice clip to your phone it only saves it as a movie/video, whereas it gives you the option of save as audio or movie to dropbox and other clouds etc, so why cant it just save to my phone as a standard audio clip? ✓ Happy customerI use it for a few things - mostly learning lines and recoding musical sketches/ideas -oh and my sons’ gigs. Quality-wise it’s easily good enough for keeping a record of parts and tempos rather than accurate sound quality but the recordings are good enough for me to enjoy recreationally on a phone’s speakers or headphones. ✓ Is there a problem atm?I love this app (hence rating and review) But today... It suddenly will stop recording audio mid take. Silence detection is off. Also being unpredictable on playback. One recording attempt was of silence. Another stopped as I started. Odd... Please look into this! Latest IOS / iphone XR THE REVIEW I use this when strumming about on my various mandolin family instruments - or even grabbing vocal ideas. It's so immediate - the quality far outstrips (it lets you record in a format and quality of your choice) the standard ios app which I hitherto used. Did consider getting the little rode mics at some point... Oh and I like how I can save the more interesting results to the cloud on a button press. I don't use the effects. It's the weak area as you don't seem to be able to preview how they'll sound and it is mixed straight to the file. I'd rather that was more "non destructive" and applied later. After I finished working really hard on it I listened to it and it sounded good until this awful beeping noise came on. It happens twice in the recording and it beeps out the part of the recording. Please help because I need this for the parade and without some of those recordings, some things won’t make sense. (The parade is a contest and the theme is movies. ✓ Voice recordI’am a lifelong musician and have been the recording person for every session since 1970 that I’ve played with. Reel to Real - cassettes- multitracks recorders- Digital decks. Just as a backup I downloaded your FREE app and started just leaving the phone wherever I could find a nitch in the session. I don’t know how this app works but y’all must have put magic mixer monkeys from George Martin’s garage in there cause the recording is usually perfect ! Press the button and your off. The added feature of date and time is great also! Ok point in case, we have a large studio that we meet at and have improvisational jams in the wee hours. We have the state of the art and vintage gear to record with. We had a 35 minute jam that we had to listen to, we gather to listen and realize that the kick drum mic and the Bass mic were basically off and the room mic was too high. Not a great recording, we were sad ! So just as a thought I said I recorded it with “ VOICE RECORD PRO” ! We hooked up my phone and everyone was stunned, the mix was near perfect and sounded great! The only curious downside I’ve encountered is that for some reason, trying to open a file I’ve received from someone else who created an audio file(.m4a) in the same app on their iPad, returns an error and won’t open it : s’up wid dat !? ✓ Still the best recorder after 3 years and 2GB of useThis app has been created with an expertise eye on the recording process but equally the file management process, something you can’t say many apps do. Creating folders, renaming titles, colour coding, saving to all cloud solutions and also permitting importing to the app are all indispensable. From a recording standpoint you can record in whatever format (WAV, mp3 etc), trim recording, add a fade in/out, add reverb and even add artwork to your final iteration of a song. I also use it for creating the audio version of my blog posts for accessibility reasons and the sound is crystal clear. The best, best app out there, please don’t go away! ✓ Nearly perfectI’ve had this app on an iPhone since it was first launched and used it for recording vacation reports and travel logs. It was great. But. Outside of slow cloud based exports my only other option was to convert files to mp4 and put in camera roll. Then export this to pc and convert back to mp3. For this reason I stopped using the app and found a new one with better direct export functionality. I’ve now found a workaround using a usb insert that files can export too. So I am back and happy using the app. I really like the online effect options but I don’t like that these can’t be set before the recording has started and also b they are not remembered from one recording to an other. This is a weird setup. I would like to use the limiter on all recordings but have to go through the setup procedure for it once I am recording live. If however you wanted to use this app in conjunction with the Apple Watch there are some complex settings that need to be set. The Apple Watch likes to go to sleep that’s the first set back. Also in order for the app to stay alive the watch can never sleep, that doesn’t work. What you can do by default is set the app to run on the watch but have the a on the paired iPhone now the iPhone is the recorder not the watch. It works if the watch goes to sleep. The thing is the app appears on the face of the watch, if you push the crown and go back to the watch face the app stops. Past that it’s still the best..Version: 3.3.6

✓ Pause works FINE for mePause n stop work fine. I noticed a ‘top’ review from someone said it didn’t work for them so that is the first thing I tried after install. (turns out I installed it years ago and my old recordings are still there!). I ran multiple tests and it worked fine. BUT note that unlike in Apples voice record app, it takes TWO clicks to start recording. The first just let’s you set the recording parameters, the second starts recording. Visual feedback makes it clear to me when it is and is not recording. Oh and the silence detection works fine too, BUT you do have to set the silence volume threshold appropriately, and you must do that WHILE recording. ✓ Great way to capture musicYou know how sometimes a catchy tune that you’ve never heard before just pops into your head and you’re sure it’s a snippet of what you could make into a great song? This is the perfect way to capture it. I used to run to the piano and bust out my sheet music and a pencil and try to write out the notes before I forgot it, but this is much better. Now I just open up this app, hit “record” and hum or sing away. You can do as many takes as you want. You can add notes to each take. You can send a take to a producer, colleague, or e-mail it to yourself so you can upload it to your computer and put it in your track. It is very versatile. When it’s on Advanced the sound quality is really good, I wouldn’t say it’s great, but it’s much better than other apps I’ve tried to use so it’s great for singers to hear what they really sound like. ✓ Allows Super-Long RecordingGreat app for your super-long business meetings, general audio gathering and my songwriting. Got this app back in 2015. I accidentally left it on while recording. Did not realize it until 7-1/2 hours later. I stopped the recording which was totally saved even though my iPhone had been sleeping during all of that time. This was without turning on the silence detector. The result was a perfectly working 217MB MP4 audio file. Are you listening, Maxwell Smart? As far as I know, the recording time might not even be limited. The feature set on this app is great including audio sampling selectivity and file formats. Sound files can be moved without needing to go online or use cloud. Files are automatically named by date and time down to the second but you can edit file names. ✓ I love using this appIt is so flexible in it’s operating modes, it’s editing functions, it’s variable sensitivity to automatically pause during silence if required and so much more. I happily paid for the ad-free version and I’m always recommending this app to everyone who sends me a voice message using the standard iOS app. One particular reason is because I have my phone enter standby mode after 5mins so I’m always having to stop what I’m doing to unlock the phone to continue playing the messages (something that used to drive me to distraction when recording long messages myself before switching apps). A couple of family members were unconvinced and I rate this app so highly I paid the price of the ad-free version for them (and they are now recommending it to others themselves). It’s price is in a the mid-range of the average apps I buy but it’s worth it. One more thing, I mentioned that the basic iOS voice recorder is irritating but I was delighted to find it is so very simple to convert from that app to this it’s almost seamless playback from the time it’s opened there to the time it’s played back here. Converting between many formats is just as easy. I especially appreciate the rich features because iOS basically has very few useful features on the native apps, especially iOS voice recorder, which has no features at all except record/stop/and play. Mostly I use it to record business meetings or any event where someone is speaking and i want to capture it. It doesn’t matter how close or far away i am, the quality is always good. I also record live music at church just by turning my recorder on, sitting the phone down and forget about it. Playback sounds like it did when I was sitting there live. ✓ I’ve looked at them all and this is number 1 (with one close 2nd)I’ve seen every audio recording software on the UK store whilst looking for a fast and effective tool for recording my soon to be ex wife to deter her from verbal abuse and spurious allegation and to give me a record in case of litigation as I’m still living in the house pending divorce. So you can be sure that my need has great importance for me. Voice Record Pro has such a wide spectrum coverage of facilities from 3D Touch fast start recording to, through reconstructed data in case of battery failure, to tag editing and notes addition. Wow what a software! The recordings are clear in all environments. The playback is easy and convenient. The downloading options make backing up simple whatever your preferred repository (I use WiFi to PC). I cannot sing the software’s praises highly enough. There is only one other that has my needs covered so effectively and even then it misses on the notes and tags side (though it does have instant start recording which this doesn’t). I won’t mention it’s name in this review so as not to detract from Voice Record Pro but the keen to seek could find it by knowing the price which as of Aug ‘22 is £8.99. The ability to trim and add effects easily is brilliant. Simple interface making it very intuitive. By far the best app I've used. The only thing I've not managed to work out yet is the noise reduction functionality. Every time I try, the sound goes all weird. I'm sure it's just me not understanding it. Minor issue though as the sound quality is pretty good anyway. Feature request: One thing I would like added is the ability adjust the trim by inputting a value. It's really awkward trying to drag the trim points precisely as they are so small and jump about. Also, can you add the ability to export to the standard music library in an iPhone. Use it for guitar and piano where the source is analogue and you want to capture all the other live sounds in background. The interface is superb, the screen has a lovely warm retro glow that brings back happy memories of of my old tape decks from the 70s. The upload facility to iCloud is great for editing later. ✓ Feature suggestionFirst of all, we love this app! We are a live multi piece working performing band and like to rough record our gigs for later review. We been using this app along with an IRig interface taking a line out directly from the main board. After a gig, I import the audio in mp3 format direct to Dropbox that the rest of the band has access to play back. The feature suggestion I would like to see is in the import process, it could import with the gain control settings that used on playback. No matter what you set it to, the mp3 import is flat exactly how it was recorded. Sometimes the level from the board is set to low during record process and need to be tweaked up. The app cannot do that as far as I can tell. We been working around it by taking the file after import and using other software to bring up the level and re-saving. ✓ Less than an hour convinced me!I write songs, I play in bands and after committing far too many song ideas to Apple’s Music Memos and then losing them due to some bug in the iCloud syncing I needed another tool. Found this and after using it to record a rehearsal, edit it, send the files out to bandmates, and archive them in Dropbox I paid to lose the ads. Didn’t need to but I wanted to reward the developers for doing such a great job. There are lots of tools and settings but if you have any recording savvy at all you’ll be at home in no time. I love the VU meters, beautifully rendered with even subtle shadowing of the needles - ahhh, the halcyon days of reel to reel recording on the old Akai. I even imported some bits recorded in Apple’s Voice Memos that I used in a pinch, easy as. If you’re a musician or sound engineer this app rocks!.Version: 3.5.3
✓ Incredible options - years of improvementsUpdate: although my original review (below) was very positive, at that time the app had less features. It now has the ability to import from iPhones Music Library as well as many other sources. In addition there have been regular updates over the years. It has so many features now that it has become the only audio recording app I need, and I often import audio into it from other sources so that I can take it advantage of its many features. It an indispensable tool for anyone serious about audio recording. Original (outdated) review: I've used at least five different recording/audio apps and this has become my favorite because it has so many options for exporting and editing and recording. Truly impressive! However there is one thing Hokusai can do that vrp cannot: import files from the iPhone's Music Library. It would also be nice to be able to record while other apps output sound, but I suspect that can't be done. Great app that's well worth the $!.Version: 3.6.3
✓ Still LOVING This AppI’m pretty sure I already gave this app a glowing review, but I just want to reiterate how brilliant it is. I am not a professional (or amateur) musician or the like, but use it to record memos to myself or certain convos. I also used it to secretly record my EX going crazy/angry/screaming on me (legal in my state)! Which really helped with divorce negotiations! The app is ridiculously easy to use, I don’t get the negative reviews, but I would guess they weren’t patient or they screwed up and want to blame someone! ✓ Stunning sound qualityI downloaded this app, thinking that there might be an occasion on which I would need to record a short message. Then my music recording system broke down, so I set my iPad on the piano and gave this app a try. The beautiful sound on the playback was a truly pleasant surprise. ✓ There is an updated versionI have downloaded a different updated version of this App ‘Voice Pro 7’ I notice it has a new dark mode. This app is well designed and surprisingly comprehensive. In file handling it is impressive. I don’t know about their customer service, that another reviewer mentioned. The app works fine on my iPhone X and Apple watch 4. It has saved files to Drop Box and emailed them. For me Apple watch apps are important. The watch app is also capable and well designed. ✓ What happened to WAV?I have used this app for some time to record audio bird vocalizations to upload to my eBird account. The app was recommended by Cornell University for this purpose and it is very easy to use. I am extremely disappointed to discover that Voice Record Pro no longer offers the option to record using the WAV format that is required for eBird audio submissions. I will no longer use the app or recommend it to other birders..Version: 3.6.8

✓ UpdateI wrote a review asking for features that have been largely implemented. So I know they listen. Unfortunately, there is no way to contact the creators to get support. So leaving a review is the only way it seems we can communicate. This is still my go-to recording app, but I have a need for a new feature. I need to be able to start and stop recording from a connected cable or Bluetooth button. I am going to start using it to record my Bass, and I need to be able to start and stop the recording without having to tap the screen. Sometimes the phone isn’t within arm’s reach or I need to be able to start and stop more quickly. If I could connect a foot switch up to control the recording, that would be so useful..Version: 3.4.6

✓ Great for recording band rehearsalsThe fact that this app was so good in its free version made me feel guilty for not buying it, so I did. It has solved so many problems and added the ultimate convenience for recording band rehearsals. For years I’ve been using a Zoom recorder which needed a battery and either had to be set up in the middle of the room or used with an external microphone so I could control it from behind the drums. This app on my iPad with a horrible cheap external mic in the Lighting port pointing into the room has made the Zoom redundant. My iPad is next to me and I can control the recording level to produce great quality reference recordings during rehearsals. Cloud upload is the icing on the cake and this app has given my iPad another use and reduce the clutter of setting up for a rehearsal. Worth every penny..Version: 3.6.8
✓ Actually amazingThis somehow FREE app is actually really awesome. This is, for the record, the second five star review I’ve ever left for a free app on the App Store. The only other one was for Clash of Clans like 4 years. I only leave reviews if an app is exceptionally good or bad, and this is one of the highest tier free apps I’ve ever come across. Compression is really good, even through my phone’s crappy mic the music from my guitar still sounds... not anywhere near true professional levels, but still beyond amateur levels even WITH decent microphones. Like it actually sound really, really clean, crisp, and well-balanced. This is, of course, taking into consideration it is a FREE app. But it is still well worth downloading, and if you hook a really nice speaker up to your phone or PC/laptop and use this app... ✓ Good App & Great Customer SupportHave been using this app to record vocal parts during our choir practices and have been very pleased. Occasionally, when editing the parts, I would encounter a problem that prevented me from editing further....tried contacting support via email without really expecting a response...to my pleasant surprise, I received an acknowledgement and request for problem files within 15 mins of sending the mail. Got a response back that they could reproduce the issue and were working on a fix....a day later, cause was identified and communicated to me. ✓ Dependable once againI tried to edit the review I left earlier but was unable to. I had reported instances of recording in church that resulted in absolutely no sound. Well, after deleting Voice Record Pro from my iPhone 6s Plus and reinstalling, I am happy to report flawless recordings for the past few months. I think I'll try out version 7 Full, now that confidence has been restored. There is one problem, though, that I hope a future update will fix. Instagram is unable to upload an MP4 video exported from VRP. Something wrong with the "wrapper". It repeatedly fails to upload and clones the MP4 in Camera Roll every time it fails. My workaround is to open the MP4 in iOS iMovie and export to Camera Roll. Instagram will then accept the video..Version: 3.3.8
