✓ Superb little game!It's as simple as sliding blocks around to put ice cubes in wooden holes, but it can be tantalisingly difficult. It's a lovely-looking game, with a beautifully smooth and simple interface (I particularly love the wood look, it fits the simplicity of the concept). It's very easy to pick up and very easy to get hooked - "just one more game" has kept me up later than I'd intended on several occasions! It takes the classic "things slide until they stop" game mechanism and transforms it into a unique and original experience. The levels themselves start simple and quickly build into more complex arrangements. Each level takes a fair few minutes to complete ensuring a lot of play time from this game. It gets quite hard and as it gets harder it seems to need more trial and error. But then I start to get it and it's great. The application name is ridiculous, yes it's a puzzle game. That much is obvious. But it has no /flair/. It's about as creative as naming a business "Company ltd" or a retail store "Clothes and co". The home screen icon is a problem too, being far too detailed. While this makes a great large icon, the home screen one has far too many tiny details and no real focus. Long before I got through the free puzzle levels, I realized Puzzle Retreat was a Keeper and decided to purchase the additional Puzzle Packs. I'm on a tight fixed income so when I buy something it must offer a true bang for my buck — and Puzzle Retreat definitely has the IT factor. This is one of my favorite games. As you progress through the levels, they get a little tougher as new game objects are added. Some puzzles look deceptively simple, but can drive you crazy as you work through the solution — what a great workout for your grey matter!
