✓ Better as a coffee table book?This is a very informative app about P.S. Architecture, but it should be said that very little of the houses can actually be seen from the street. I found it most useful for providing a guide to finding and exploring some of the nicer neighborhoods. Made for a pleasant though slightly disappointing afternoon..Version: 1.2
✓ No Illuminated Mid-Century TourBought this to do illuminated mid-century modern tour at night based on promo material. Not only is there no special illuminated tour as advertised but many of the buildings on the tour are inexplicably not reviewed on the app. That makes no sense. The reviews of the buildings that are covered are pretty good but how they can leave out so many key buildings on Palm Canyon Dr. is crazy..Version: 1.2
✓ Not worth the money and honestly uselessI bought this app on the premise that I could use it to tour the residences. However, I found on arrival to the main roads, I was not allowed to enter the roads the properties were on since they were private roads. Other issues: - Barely any movie star properties listed. - the app says videos - of four properties I wanted to look at only 1 had a video and that was less than 1:30mins! - not enough photos. Each property only seems to have 4 photos. I thought for the size of the app and the price paid there would be way more than 4. - when doing the tours, when you select a house it should allow you to press the directions link which should in turn allow you to choose to get directions... It doesn't - much shorter list of known residences than I expected e.g. searching could not find Elvis or Bing Crosby... - when running the tours mode small thumbnails of houses are shown. However you cannot select these to go to the residence detail. The only way to do it is to select start tour....Version: 1.2
✓ Squirrels without wifiGigantic app, so find a coffee shop with wifi for download. App is well designed and has good information on the buildings it features. Not a complete MCM survey, though. Worse, the map feature, which is critical for an efficient tour, doesn't work well in some parts of town. We had limited time in town and too much time was spent nursing the app..Version: 1.2

✓ Purchase before travelingYes this program does download but it takes a very long time, perhaps hours depending on the download speed. Once downloaded it is an excellent introduction to the topic, even if the program is a little buggy. Functionality is good, but it would have been nice to be able to go from thumbnail pictures or map location icons directly to the detailed descriptions of the properties. We did not use this as a real time tour guide. With some planning ahead, patience and fast network internet access this might be possible..Version: 1.2

✓ Horribly unstable, but content is goodIt gets only three stars because it is HORRIBLY unstable. Using it with an iPad Mini on wifi or a iPhone 4S on 4G - it CONSTANTLY crashes. This is made worse by the fact that if you are in the middle of one of the apps "tours" you have to start all over. And as you go forward to try and find your spot… it crashes again. That being said, the content is excellent. Just wish it was possible to actually take one of the apps "tours" to completion..Version: 1.1
✓ Waste of 4.99Navigation feature doesn’t work in app and won’t transfer to maps. You have to copy and paste each individual address. Basically I bought this so I wouldn’t have to build a custom route…. And I ended up doing it anyway. This app led to more fights and close call traffic accidents then it’s worth. Also SUPER irritated that on several of the houses the info cuts off mid sentence, what’s up with that? It is also supposed to tell you the best way to see the houses, this is especially important for the ones up the canyon. But all you see is driveways, fences or gates. ✓ It's good... conceptually.I was really excited when I picked up the brochure for this tour and saw there was an app -- it seemed the app would provide a tour of these amazing buildings, but in reality, it just shows the locations and detail. There is no route, it's up to you to connect the dots. Each stop is numbered, and each features a great write-up with a recorded description (loved that part), but the audio stops when it's backgrounded! My wife was navigating and had to continuously copy the address into Google maps because this app only supports exporting each address into Apple Maps, which for whatever reason was not providing turn-by-turn directions. One other gripe is that a couple of the locations are on private roads / driveways. While it would be great to see them, I'm not up for trespassing. Overall, this app has great potential, but it seems half-baked, and if it weren't for the decent photos and audio, I wouldn't say it was worth the $5 ($7CAD). Either way, I'm sure the developers can find a way to trim it down from the 1GB size..Version: 1.8

✓ Get the $5 Paper oneI took a chance despite the poor reviews that this would be fixed since Modernism week is only 2 weeks away. WRONG. I downloaded it the first day and in 3 days, it has never worked. Same as the others where the screen says "waiting for updates" after it took 2 hours to load onto my computer (at the Ace where the wifi is fine). Go to the visitors center and get the $5 map. The structure of the app and the quality of the photos is very good, but the overall impression due to the errors is not. ✓ It could have been so much better!I bought this to take a self-guided tour of modernist homes in Palm Springs. The information, photos, and recorded narratives were great. Unfortunately, there are some serious shortcomings that made the app difficult to use for navigation. The driving directions, when used through the app, cause the GPS sound not to work, so it requires a person to navigate in addition to the driver. I set up a Favorites Tour, which seemed like a great idea, but although the app asked for location tracking, it didn’t use that information to put the tour in a sequence that made sense for my current location. As far as apps go, this one was expensive and I expected better performance..Version: 1.8
