✓ Best phonics app by farI have been looking for a decent phonics app for my daughter who is struggling with phonics at school. This one is head and shoulders above the others we tried. We are both Looking forward to the release of phonics 2!.Version: 1.2
✓ Lots of fun and good for 4 year olds' It's lots of fun, I especially liked shooting the bombs at the ships and the people walking the plank. And I liked doing 't', and 'w' and all the letters that they got. Now I'm going to do no.2!' That's the review from my 4.5 year old, who really loved this and paid such close attention to the games and phonic content..Version: 1.4
✓ Update - Fantastic Phonic FunNow installed on and working great on our iPad3. Lovely introduction to Phonics. Bright graphics and engaging narrative style draws children in. Phonics are a very important learning tool for my girls and they love the Pirate phonics game..Version: 1.1
✓ Best Phonics AppWe have downloaded many phonics / reading based apps, most of which are not worth their money. This app teaches well, and captures my child's attention for long periods of time. The characters are great, and some of the mini games are particularly good, especially the unlocking the chest game which really got her thinking about how words are made up of phonics. ✓ Great phonics appMy 4 year old boy loves this app and returns to it time after time. Easy to use, clear speech and lots of different ways to teach the same phonics. He particularly likes firing at the ships and walking the plank! Great work from Unit11 and very impressed with their customer service following an issue with opening the app initially. Also have their times table app which my 7 year old loves to use..Version: 1.1

✓ Good UK phonicsThis is basic phonics so you might make the same mistake as me and buy it when your child is well beyond the single letter phonic sounds. Also, the accent of the voice over makes sound pronunciation incorrect. For example, “bath” is pronounced “barth”. I wish that the dialogue changed colour so the child could read along to the text..Version: 2.1

✓ No sound at firstWe didn’t have sound at first but you just need to make sure your phone isn’t on silent mode and it works fine - on I phone make sure the button on the left hand side of phone isn’t on silent :).Version: 2.1

✓ Pirate phonicsExceptional, brilliant, wonderful. I have used this app with children aged 2 to 10 years and they have all loved it whether it was a big challenge for those totally new to letters or fluent readers who just loved firing the cannons!! I have especially trialled it with children who have significant learning delays, such as Down Syndrome, and they have all loved it, picked up what to do readily and it has held their interest as the tasks are short and varied. Can't praise it highly enough - I work as an educational psychologist and recommend it all the time..Version: 1.2

He enjoyed it hugely even though you will find it quite repetitive, this fact has the desired effect as the letters really stick. The final part of each section has a spelling test which is really excellent and really pushes the child to think about how to break words down..Version: 1.1

✓ Need more!This is the best phonics practice app I have yet found. My daughter loves the story line and stays engaged for almost an hour at a time. I like the consistency and structured development. The gamisation really works, though I would like to see it developed further. Most of all, though, I just want more content! More islands, more exercises to go up to more complex levels. Matt if you read your reviews I am looking forward to Episode 2 with £1.49 burning a hole in my pocket..Version: 1.1
