Beethoven’s 9th Symphony for Negative User Reviews

Great concept, flawed executionDG has conceptually developed a marvelous idea, packaging everything a music lover needs: different performances, video, analyses, and score-tracking. Unfortunately, with the last being the primary focus in this app, the developers have dropped the ball with its off-beat and unnecessarily punctuated real-time score-tracking graphics. And for whatever rhythmic clarification it provides, the jitteriness is so severe that one can't even ignore it to enjoy the overall product. In contrast, the Glenn Gould Goldberg app is a far more usable, though much simpler, example of a similar idea. But here's an encouraging first step to something wonderful years down the road..Version: 1.0.0

Why only 2 minutes?I love music. Why only 2 minutes of music!? I wasted 2GB on this app for just 2 minutes of music?! SERIOUSLY!!!!!! That is why I deleted this app because its only 2 minutes and it consumes 2 GB of my Device..Version: 1.0.0

Still crashes within secondsDespite the 2.0.1 update on 20th November, this app still crashes. Code review and testing must improve. It will only receive 1 star until I can run the thing!.Version: 2.0.1

MisleadingSample of app only - no functionality - removed!.Version: 2.0.5

Looks good...but...This looks like a fantastic app. Just not sure it's worth the $9.99 price tag attached!.Version: 1.0.0

Beethoven's 9thI paid for this app, but it would not download. What should I do? Help?.Version: 2.0.12

More informative note neededI purchased "The Orchestra" app when it first appeared. This outstanding app requires 1.92Gb download which takes a long time! The note on the Beethoven app reveals that it has only a 2 minute sample from each featured conductor. This is so all the features could be enabled for instant purchase. They neglected to say this requires a download of 1.55Gb for your two minute samples. Since it is built on the same platform as The Orchestra, I would hope they could build on that instead of requiring full download for the 2 minute samples. Other than that, this is an outstanding contribution to the enjoyment of classical music. Had I known it required that ,large a download I would not have ordered the sample..Version: 1.1.3

BugsThe application comes dead when I press conductor's window. To make the money worth, please fix it as soon as possible..Version: 2.0.7

Not so great..Would've been nice to know you only get a couple of minutes of the symphony before clearing 3gb of space..Version: 1.0.0

Wonderful app but too bigLove the music, and the accompanying score. Video of Bernstein's version is wonderful too. But this comes at a price of a very large app. Sadly, I can no longer update this - latest update is 1.8 Gb, requiring more free space than I have available on my iPad. A shame..Version: 2.0.1

Dissatisfied with bugs / customer serviceAnother owner of the original Beethoven 9 app. Found a major bug in the app and contacted support. Was told touchpress no longer owned the app and to contact Amphio. Did so, and It’s been almost two weeks with no reply! Do not buy this app as the new company obviously does not care about support, which is a shame as the app itself use to work perfectly and was pure joy!.Version: 2.0.8

RipoffDon't buy this app. They will take your money and provide nothing but the teaser. The in app purchase provides NOTHING, no more music, Nothing..Version: 1.0.2

Give us your money! To be fair I've only used the app for two minutes. But within that two minutes of exploring it had already asked me to spend $17.99 twice. Not a good first experience thanks to greedy app developers..Version: 1.1.1

$$ stealerDoesn't actually let you restore your past purchase of the full version. If you bought it before the ios update, be prepared to buy it again and again and again to get it to work.Version: 2.0.12

Great app, albeit a little priceyThis app is exceptionally well developed, and it will be of interest to serious (classical) music lovers. Yes, there is no question that the full version (or, rather, the in-app upgrade) is pretty steep, though. It would be worth it to me if there was more content (i.e., additional symphonies). I like to support app developers--particularly those that do high quality work--but this is a bit excessive. That said, I am always amazed by the comments complaining about a "teaser" or a "sample," and then claiming that this wasn't clear "up front." Sorry, but it couldn't be stated any more clearly in the the very short description of the app..Version: 1.0.0

Does not work with Airplay 2...Great application for understanding orchestration and comparing different performances of Beethonen’s 9th, but the music cannot be streamed to Airplay 2 devices, so I’m left with listening with the iPad or iPhone microphones or wired earphones, B luetooth devices. A real downer for those who still appreciate Hi-Fi rendering....Version: 2.0.11

No support for old paid appCustomers who bought the paid app which is no longer supported were supposed to be migrated to this app. It is nice to see such an offer but the developers don’t seem to honour it. I tried to contact the developers multiple times over the past months but have not received any reply. Perhaps this review will make them listen?.Version: 2.0.8

Data Hog and Preview OnlyAfter deleting scores of my apps to use it, I find there is nothing on it except advertising for the real app. Disappointing..Version: 1.0.0

Misleading, not cool Apple.I ended up clearing at least 3 GB from my advice to make room for this app... And all you get is 2 lousy minutes?!?nWith an option to buy the whole app for $14?!? Really?!? What a waste of time... Incredibly misleading. Will think twice before I download the next Editor's Choice..Version: 1.0.0

Bought this a few years back......now locked out..Version: 2.0.12

Not an app. Just a very limited trialThis is not an app it's just a preview of the real app. This app has no real content even if the full app seems to be amazing. But I don't want to buy the full app after feeling scammed..Version: 1.0.0

Cannot download full scoreTwice I have tried to download the full score (this is an add-on) and all that I get is the spinning gear of death. I guess I will request a refund when I receive the charge from Apple. I would rate this as a no-star if I could..Version: 2.0.8

CrapDon't waste your time. Downloading this huge app only to get 2 minutes before being asked to pay. Misleading..Version: 1.0.0

Space HogI have more than 400 apps on my iPad, and this one takes up the second largest amount of space of any of them. For an app that I only very occasionally use, that is unacceptable, so I will reluctantly delete it as soon as I write this review. The developers need to find a way to compress this app so that it is not so space greedy. If that happens, I would like to download it again. Oh, and the extreme space usage is with the free version. I can only imagine if I had the paid upgrade..Version: 2.0.4

Broken? It just won't download for me no matter how much space I clear...I have 3.5 gb left but it's not enough?.Version: 1.0.0

Excellent concept! If you check "In App Purchases" you'd know it's not the full "experience" as they call it. It's an excellent idea but the music playback stutters at times even on my iPad 4th generation. My big concern based on when this app was released is that the developer isn't or doesn't know how to fix it. I can only give two star since the stuttering ruins the atmosphere created when listening to one of of the greatest pieces of music ever written..Version: 1.0.0
