✓ I wanted to like this appI’m still on the hunt for a good daily devotional app. This one has great reviews but I literally couldn’t get through the Day 2 devotional as it felt completely full of shallow fluff and nothing of substance. I don’t need to read 6 paragraphs about how Jesus is the essence of the dirt, the flowers, the mountains, a newborn baby’s breath, and I just need to take life step by step, day by day, and enjoy life. This is literally like marshmallows- overly sweet, unnecessary, and not sustaining. I want to ingest something nutritious that feeds my soul- food for thought. Something that grows my understanding and spirituality. Also, why is “he” (as in God), never capitalized?? And what is the New Passion Translation that literally makes less sense than NIV? ✓ GlitchesThere is a glitch in the program and I can't seem to return to the main menu once I am on certain devotionals. The icon to expand the devotional text sits on top of the icon to return. It means I have to uninstall and reinstall to return to the main menu. I also had some trouble finding devotionals I had purchased. The first 30 days worked great though. Glitch occurred when I went to buy additional content. Beautiful images remind me of the scriptures I have been reflecting on though and I love to use them for my phone wallpapers to keep me reflecting on them throughout my days..UnhushedVersion: 2.5.1

✓ No longer worksOver the past month, the app has opened 1 in 10 times. I’ve deleted and re-loaded the app at least once a day. Tried the “App Support” icon in the App Store listing and was sent to the developers website. Tried logging in and apparently had forgotten my password. Asked to reset the password and never received the email that I was told would be sent. Very questionable support for an app I pay for and get to use every tenth time I open it. ✓ Great devotionals, app needs improvementLove the devotionals! They're great. However, to be an app I'm paying for, there are lots of glitches that need to be fixed. I bought the subscription a few days ago after the trial. Currently it shows my renewal date is in September. So did I pay for a year or for 9 months? My devo's don't refresh correctly either. It's still showing "13 hours" until today's (December 20th) shows up... the trial layout of the app was much better compared to this version. I can't even figure out how to navigate. ✓ Stellar Design, Disappointing ContentI've been combing the App Store for good devotional apps. Most are geared towards middle-aged women or middle schoolers. DVO is the first one that seems to be the most competently designed 'all-purpose' devotional app. The free trial (which I appreciate) will reveal that. What the free trial will also reveal is the lack of quality writing. I am (hopefully) no devotional snob, but the writing style in this app seems to be caught somewhere between text message from your youth pastor and Christian bookstore greeting card. Platitudes, all caps, restating the obvious, repetitiveness. Desert Fathers this is not. I'm not sure what the editing process is like at Pocket Fuel, but it could use some work. I do not mean to demean the efforts of the team, just that the writing style was a turn off for me in an otherwise beautiful app..VicLabsVersion: 2.5.3

✓ The DVO app is brokenBe very careful when you download this app. While the content is good, the app itself is broken is many ways and has several flaws. The Today view widget doesn't work and only displays black squares in place of that day's devotional preview. The reminder you set in settings doesn't work. And you can't even send diagnostics to their support because the email form within the app doesn't work. I tried to give this app a chance and even consult with their support team but I haven't heard anything in over a week from them. Even if I'm only going to spend 99 cents, I want the app to be flawless. This one has too many bugs and a huge lack of support for fixing problems. Dissapointing guys. I have shared the insights with my friends, it has brought me to significant repentance over sin in my heart, it has fuelled my ever struggling prayer life. At other times it runs deeply counter to what the bible actually says and teaches heresy. There are a lot of new age influences here. Approach with wisdom. Pray for God’s discernment. If anything surprises you, check the bible to see if it lines up. Know how to separate the wheat from the chaff and you’ll find some amazing, nourishing wheat. ✓ APPLE,You really need to have a better QC team, this developer has released an app that DOES NOT FUNCTION, as it won't even open. The first one was glitchy, but to release an update that will not open, for many people and myself included and we pay a monthly fee for this? What's wrong here. Closing fact is that there should be no reason for a developer to host an outside checkout where he/she/they can get away with charging a monthly fee for an app that will not work, will not answer any emails for help - better said there's no communication at all. my mother set up with this app after a stressful break in her life, and while it has helped her, It's a shame she's left with unanswered emails regarding the continuing cycle of app crashes and data loss this app brings with it. I too witnessed it within minutes of downloading it on my iPhone 5. Despite its pretty use of modern colored vector shapes in Illustrator and scripted typefaces, her crashes as well as mine, keep the experience frustrating. They continue to ignore her request for support - the most important part of any subscription service, and because of this I'd say this app fails behind it's pretty little blue light. ✓ Delighted and then disappointedBest devotional ever. I tell all my friends! I have subscribed for almost 3 years. I am disappointed in the readings over this last year. The author writes too often about her personal crisis with health, career, and money. She is so young to be trying to give life examples constantly. There is not enough substance to each reading to be helpful to my spiritual needs on a daily basis. I don’t enjoy a brief introduction to a topic series and then read “more tomorrow “. I would rather pay a bit more to have a topic more developed and some Biblical content deciphered. I believe the author has valuable Biblical information to share. I have learned so much when the Hebrew meanings are defined. That gives me a whole different perspective to the Bible verses. I believe the author reads wonderful books and skillfully uses those authors’ quotes in her writing . The author is a beautiful writer. I do not enjoy the poetry as a devotional. ✓ Absolutely notWell I was surprised that the app itself was free, the first day was lackluster and all it did was give a scripture reference then talked ALL about the application and people who made it (husband and wife team) and all it offers a that was day one of the daily devotional... the NEXT DAY, today...
