IFretless Guitar for Positive User Reviews

AwesomeA genuine instrument in its own right. There will be tracks recorded using this. Brilliant..Version: 2.5

Beautiful appWith so many keenly priced music apps out there, it's getting harder to find diamonds like this. If you're a musician and own an ipad, you owe it to yourself to check this out. IAPs are cheap and it's a very playable instrument. Like most of my ipad instruments, I still crave a way of controlling velocity more fully while playing, but that's more a limitation of ios devices than ifretless. The developer is pretty active on forums and will no doubt continue to update his apps. Audiobus and midi control of other apps makes this a no-brainer..Version: 2.6

Expressive, Beautiful & SoulfulWow ! Sounds are so expressive and soothing. I have lot of guitar patches for animoog, thumbjam and lot of others but nothing compares to expressive style of this one. Amazing !!!.Version: 3.7.2

Inter app audio please? This is such a useful and brilliant sounding music tool. Much like the oustanding ifretless bass and sax it would be perfect with IAA support. if this is already in the works then please disregard, otherwise great work. I love the ifretless series and would purchase many more new instruments if made available. ifretless violin or trumpet maybe? :).Version: 2.9.2

Great Instrument, Killer MIDI Controller!A killer apps for beginner and pro musicians alike! (This review was original written for iFretless Guitar but the Bass and Sax versions are very similar with some instrument specific enhancement so I will just use this in all three reviews.) The iFrelless Guitar is truly an amazing app, one of my top 10 most used music apps on my iOS devices, and I have hundreds of them!! I think the app would be great for: Budding musicians who wants to start sounding good from the start go and meanwhile learning and exploring the Guitar fretboard layout and how it relates to the piano keyboard. It is also great for learning and practising the different scale, modal and chord shapes for the guitar. (Been trying to convince the developer into adding a scale overlay to aid learning...would be even more awesome as a learning tool then. :)) Guitarists(and Bassists) who wants to have a realistic and great sounding onboard guitar instrument on their iOS, as well as a familiar fretboard interface to play and control other music apps like BS16-i, Sampletank, and hundreds of other synthesiser apps with. Keybaord players who wants to add good guitar sounds to their arsenal, while being able to finely control all their sounds with the best pitch bending and velocity sensing(plus a CC touch controller pad) on the iOS. The onboard guitar instruments sound great(you can have three guitars playing together), and while the onboard effects are quite good, you can even use Audiobus to output the sounds to effect apps like JamUp, Amplitube...etc to create your very own custom sounds. The developer has painstakingly layered and programmed the sound samples so that the instruments sound really responsive and realistic. Hands down the best sounding guitar soloing app on the iOS. (though it lets you play power chords concurrently as well!) Where it really shines for me though is it's playing surface. No distraction with buttons and the likes. Pitch bending is absolutely awesome and definitely (the best)one of it's kind. Period. The control feels natural and intuitive and once you have learnt the basic scale pattern you can play in all keys easily(unlike the piano keyboard) and there are different tuning options to pick from. An optional touchpad can be activated to control any CC's you want(e.g.: timbre, filters, volume...etc). Velocity sensitivity is the best I have seen on any iOS app and while this still has some room to improve, this is more a limitation on the iOS and the developer is ready to pounce on any new technological possibilities to improve the app as soon as they become available. With coreMIDI, you can use iFretless to control and play the hundreds of other music apps. One fun thing I have recently done is to use iFretless to control a good GM Soundfont hosted in BS16-i and viola, not only instantly I have 128 new instruments to play from, I also have a 81 key drum pad that is velocity sensitive, bendable and CC controllable! It works really well with Sampletank too having hundreds of acoustic, orchestral and synthesized sounds. Great as it is as an instrument, I find the iFretless series has helped me greatly with my learning BOTH the guitar and the keyboard as well. With the colours of the strings denoting the black and white piano keys it allows me to explore the different scales and modes and translate what I know from the Guitar to the Keyboard and vice versa. You can also turn on the Key Labels so you know what you are playing if you get lost(which can happen as you are playing a 9 x 9 fretboard! A scale and mode overlay would be very helpful in this aspect and I have been emailing the developer Hans Anderson who is very helpful and responsive and he said that he was trying to get musicians to get away from the "scale" mindset and explore the other new sound territories and hence he had decided to leave that out for now but would keep his mind open about adding it later. While this is very true as I have found myself playing in surprising new ways, I think it is still good to have the option and allows a smooth and easier entry for new users. After all, it would be best to first learn the rules, THEN learn how to break them. :) Other potential areas to improve would be easier assess to the option screen and it's interface, a "Polyphonic" mode to allow multiple notes to be played on the same string, more customizable note range(0-127), allowing other chord types to be played easily, having different MIDI channels for the chord output from the main, and a scale overlay with large number so scale and mode types for easier learning. These are by no mean the apps' shortcoming but rather just represent my wish list. :)) When I first got the app, I was hoping that iFretless would behave like my real guitar, but now I am almost wishing that my guitar would start to behave more like iFretless! My hat off to Hans Anderson and his team for creating such an expressive and playable instrument. Clearly he cares a lot for his apps and would be committed to continue improving it. :) Get the app, explore it a bit, learn the basic scale patterns(start from C-easy with the string colour), and you will be absolutely amazed at how realistic and expressive a Pro level music app can sound!.Version: 2.10.3

AmazingReally impressed, blows GarageBand smart instruments away on quality of sound, performance, sensitivity and feel.Version: 2.6

Great guitar app for an experimentalistI love what I am seeing with ifretless guitar, sounds great too. It's my favorite guitar app for noise composition. Thanks for the awesome support too..Version: 2.8

Lap Steel / Dobro Tunings?Bought the bundle after messing around with Bass Guitar One. I’m enjoying them all. Thank you! Wishlist: Add open tunings with 6th, 7th and 9th extensions to make the apps more awesome!.Version: 3.7.7

PLEASE UPGRADE MECome on guys…it can’t be that hard as the rest of the suite is up today date. This app is a god one too!.Version: 3.7.7

It’s a Midi Controller With Touch Sensitivity!!!I already loved this app before I new it could control other apps and allow touch sensitivity when playing those apps. This app and the other iFretless apps are the only apps currently on an iPad that offer touch sensitivity when using the touch screen. All other synths require an external controller to access touch sensitivity. If you want to have this feature without having to hook your iPad to an external controller then this is the app you need..Version: 3.7.7

Sweet! While other apps stagnate, the iFretless apps just keep growing and getting better. Very nice sounds and music are just a download away. While it is certainly capable, I don't see myself using this like a guitar too much, but an instrument of it's own unique and delicious flavor. It is very adept at evolving drones, for example (try sliding your fingers up and down independently on two or three strings). Special effects, yes, and great for hammer-on/pull-off arpeggios. This one is going to stay on my iPad, without a doubt..Version: 3.7.3

Great. Needs beatsGreat. Needs drum machine beats.Version: 3.7.7

Dear Mani Consulting Limited Company!Once again thanks for the beautiful iFretless apps, they are amongst my favorites and I CANNOT wait for this one to become AUv3 too. It is fantastic and could really use an update. I do hope you will consider the idea of being able to play the strings of the guitar (and for iFretless Bass too) without playing ANY frets. Garage Band used to have this functionality before, not sure if it still has. Essentially, playing the strings from the right side would trigger the sound of the string itself without it being pressed on a fret. I’m sorry if I am not explaining this in the best way, I’m not a native English speaker but I hope you understand me. This is really one of the few things missing on the iFretless apps. The other one i’d really appreciate (especially for phone users) would be a way to lock the rotation of the UI of the AUV3 as for example AUM forces iPhone users into portrait mode which is not ideal for iFretless apps. If I lock my rotation, Ifretless becomes unusable as a screen controller. This isn’t such a big deal, but being able to lock the rotation of the AU would also allow us to grab the phone “upside down” as if it was an actual guitar (having the screen pointed outwards from the user essentially), which imo is amazing. The reason why I know this is because on ApeMatrix (since UI works differently) this can be done, and it is by far my favorite way of playing iFretless apps. Wonderful company! Keep up the AMAZING APPS!!! 🔥🔥.Version: 3.7.7

Nice controllerI like this .... But I'd really appreciate a Scale selector ( key and type) and some corresponding markers on the 'fret board'. Besides learning new scales it would help me as I seem to get disoriented on the iPad's screen. Otherwise it's a great idea!.Version: 2.9

Yeah, you should get it, if...If you are looking for an expressive playable software guitar. iFretless bass is my favorite of this collection and I use the bass app for clean guitar parts due to it’s flexibility. This app is still great and you can run it through other amps and efx besides the ones that came with the app. The quality of this collection of apps is such that one should get the entire collection. With some practice, very good and convincing music can be made!👍🏾.Version: 3.7.7

Can the recordings be longer than 30 secondsIt’s pretty I love the Strats and being able to slide and vibrato and bend notes but the recordings are only 30 seconds long and would be cools if they could be limitless in length..Version: 3.7.7

Wrong placement in AudiobusHello there and thanks for your iFretless Guitar. Found one bug: in Audiobus the iFretless guitar appears at the output and not at the input as it has to be. The iFretless Bass does not have this problem. Please check and correct it!.Version: 1.0

What a lot you can do!This is a really great, versatile app with lots of functionality. I've been using this with Audiobus connected to my ThumbJam app and I'm getting some really great sounds. Top marks!.Version: 2.9.2
