The Fast Metabolism Diet for Negative User Reviews

Don’t waste your moneyThis app once purchased just seems to be a marketing option to buy the book. The food options are horrible and half of the options are very hard to find. Maybe if you frequently hunt your own food with all the wild game choices. 😑 I’m also not sure when lunch meat became a healthy option. And don’t get me started on the breakfast. Fish for breakfast? Also This is outdated. Egg whites are not healthy. Do your research. If you eat a balanced diet everyday then you do not need to eat 2 days carbs 2 days protein 2 days fat. That is ridiculous. I want my money back..Version: 2.9.3

Very frustrating appYou can’t adjust the time on the app. The selector is just blank. I actually spent so long trying to figure out the app that I missed breakfast. The default is 7:30 wake up time but I get up at 5:30 and can’t adjust the time. If I try and just pretend it’s the right time and enter it anyway I get error msgs. What a waste of time..Version: 2.21.1

App is OK for the priceI’ve gone back to this diet multiple times but this is the first time I’ve used the app. I’ve completed 3 weeks of the diet using the app as a guide on my water intake, weight loss and an easy guide on what to eat on which days. I’d say for the price, the app is ok. I would like a way to be able to add my own recipes as I don’t always make the Fast Metabolism Diet Recipes that are options in the app. And I also agree with others that for fruit, I would like to be able to pick more than one type of fruit. I also would like to be able to add more weeks as I plan on using the app after the initial 4 weeks is up..Version: 2.19

Terrible AppThis is a money maker for the diet. The app is very poorly designed. For example if you adjust the timing of a meal or snack the following meals don’t automatically align. Plus you can’t copy days timing, you have to go into each one and adjust them. I have to get up at 5:30am and it has me eating dinner at 3pm. Also when you export to make a food list for grocery shopping the list come out on many pages(wasteful) and does not group fruits and veggies based on the recipes you pick. Buy this app if you are really desperate and can’t figure out the book, but my guess is you will quit using it after a month once you get the rhythm of the diet..Version: 2.19

Recipes?Where are the recipes? I bought the hard cover cookbook and many of the recipes are not an option in the meal choices for each phase. And some of the recipes in the choices section are not in the book. How do I make a proper selection when the book and app don't jive? Kind of disappointed. If this issue is fixed, I may change my rating..Version: 2.9.3

NEEDS TO BE IPAD COMPATIBLE!I love to use my ipad for everything and its not very convenient when the app stays small like I’m on my phone and doesn’t turn upright when I stand my ipad up. Other than that its ok, I prefer using the book still, just because of this. There are more options on the app than in the book, and you can just google for the recipes. Would be nice if the app included them..Version: 2.9.3

Not accurate and up to dateThis app has such great potential, but it is not updated regularly with current FMD guidelines! That’s highly frustrating when can make planning so easy! I also don’t like that when you click on the meal map it takes you back to the first day if that week instead of the day you’re on. It would get 5 stars from me if it were kept current!.Version: 2.9.3

Incomplete!I cannot find the water tracker. It is not at the bottom of the "My Day" as it states in the notes. The foods available to add in your daily meals is very incomplete. Foods listed in the book are not available to track in your daily food tracker. This app needs a lot of work. I just wasted $3..Version: 2.4

Used to be goodThis app used to be good but has not been updated (visually and information) since it was developed. Long overdue for a more modern look and feel with color schemes that are readable. Some parts of the app are illegible due to the poor choice in background colors and corresponding fonts..Version: 2.21.8

GlitchesGreat app, good companion to Haylie Pomeroy's book but the app still needs work. 1. Portion size is off for many items, especially for snacks and protein. We are hoping this is fixed soon! But if you are relying on the app for the diet, you may be disappointed 2. There's no way to record a menu item except by individual ingredient. So, if you are making one of the book's recipes, it can't be recorded in the app as such, unless you log it as unplanned. It would be great if there was a way to put ingredients into a function and record one serving of that item. 3. If you use both an iPad and an iPhone, the app doesn't share data. So using my iPad at home doesn't allow me to record or look up my plan on my iPhone when I'm out. A link by user when logged in would be great. Looking forward to improvements! Thanks.Version: 1.2.1

Great Companion appWish there were a couple more options, like a search bar for quickly finding an ingredient. Would love if there was an app for the recipes too that I could tap to quickly see how to make on my screen..Version: 2.7

Update it pleaseThis app needs an (and should be forced to) update. This is a pretty strict way of eating and IF this app was updated, it would be awesome. I used this app years ago and it was helpful but so much has changed and there have been discoveries that things are not correct. For such a market that makes a lot of money from the followers, Haylie should make sure this happens..Version: 2.20

Could be less buggyThis is a great app to use while on the diet but very frustrating because the latest update is so buggy. The water intake is prepopulated everyday and I have to clear it out. When changing the time and meals on the daily plan, you have to scroll to refresh of close and come back in. Sometimes you don’t even see the time scroll to be able to change the time on your meals. It’s got great potential, but needs to be stabilized..Version: 2.21.1

This could be so goodThis app could be a really good tool to support people on this lifestyle. If Haylie put as much effort in this app as she does selling those replacement meals this would be brilliant but at the moment it feels like it was created by 5 year old. Basic things not working like being able to change meal times..Version: 2.21.2

JUST OKAY...The App works well, but doesn’t sync between devices. So while you can download it to your phone and pad, etc. your data is only retained on the version that you used to enter it. The App also is not up to date (and it seems they have no plans to update it based on an email inquiry I made) to incorporate changes made to the plan by its founder. So annoying to use the App, but also have to use printouts from the website or Facebook page in order to apply the current plan data..Version: 2.18

Not too impressedSo far not too impressed with the app. It needs the recipes from the cookbook so I don't have to put each individual ingredient for the garden meatballs. Also the jambalaya has 3 proteins yet you can only select one on P1. I put in to start on January 2, 2017, which is in 4 days and the app has today as December 29, 2017. This app needs some updating if you want people to use it regularly. Especially since we had to pay for the app..Version: 2.9.3

Food List glitchIn the food list there are a number of tabs (animal protein, grains, fruits, etc) There is one tab entitled "All" so you should see the total list. However, it just goes to "animal protein". It worked once when aI first got the app and I thought it was working with the latest update - but I see that it has reverted to the glitch. I even re-installed today but no help. I hate when apps are put out without proper testing. The book is just as bad..Version: 1.3

Simply incompleteThe app asks you your current weight and your goal weight but does nothing with the information. Especially where needed most. If you need to lose more than 20 pounds the diet require you increase your protein by multiplying .5. However the app doesn’t account for this at all. The grocery list is also a joke. I usually choose the same meals to save money. However no matter how many times you input a food item. If it is a one serving recipe it will only add the ingredients for one serving to your grocery list. The pros: It’s pretty. Reminds you want to eat Reminds you when to eat but that’s where the benefits end..Version: 2.9.3

BugsI agree that the app is inconsistent with the book. I am setting my meal plan up to be the same as the book but tHe app asks for items like a fruit to be added on certain that is not included in the books meal plan. I also was unable to add certain meals for phase 3 on the day I wanted. I added a phase specific recipe on the first day of the correct phase but it would not allow me to add it on the next day (leftovers) for the second day of the same phase. Small glitches in the meal planning all throughout which is annoying because in the book it speaks the the importance of sticking to the specific foods for the most effective response. If the phase does not call for fruit for 2 days but the app notifies that it is a required item this is again an inconsistency that needs to be fixed. It's a great idea especially the grocery list but there are a lot of bugs to be worked out yet and it doesn't look like there have been any recent updates to address the problems..Version: 2.9

Good but not greatFor $3 this app needs some simple but essential updates. It's helpful that is lists exactly the foods you can eat in each phase. But it could use: (1) a search button so you can type in the food you are looking for rather than having to scroll, (2) it should say in the food lists how much you are supposed to eat (1 cup fruits etc) rather than after you have completed the entry for each meal, (3) there is no chart showing your weight loss progress! Isn't that why we are doing this?! Again while this is a helpful app for the foods you're supposed to eat per phase and meal, there are some serious shortcomings, especially considering it's $3. It would help to take a look at some of the free apps - my plate and my fitness pal for instance - to make this app better. I hope the developers update this app soon..Version: 2.9.3

Needs finishing,Though the root is there this app needs a severe amount of work to make it a seamless one for the user. There has been some tardiness in its creation. Having said that it is a helpful reminder of what you can eat in the different stages, especially if you're on the go and trying to get your head around the do and the don'ts, a way of keeping track of food and water intake. I am glad I purchased it but disappointed at the quality. When you open it, it doesn't automatically open for you on the day you're starting but the first day of the week so- if you're on day 7/Sunday ( assuming you started on Monday) you have to scroll 7 times to the right to get to the correct day. It's as if a senseless person designed it. C'mon HP, you deserve to give paying customers a better standard - you're charging them £2.99..Version: 2.9.3

A Few GlitchesI find that the quantities are off on the app. According to the book if a serving size was 2 ozs then the app was showing 6 ozs. Some serving sizes don't even show up on the app particularly for some meat. But the other stuff and reminders are very useful!.Version: 1.1

App opens on the last day - annoyingI have done FMD before and doing it again this month. Just annoying that I opens up on the last day - so I have to keep pressing the arrow back to manually return to the right day. It would be nice to have a calendar to just select the specific day/date to jump to..Version: 2.21.9

Handy as resource but limitedUpdated: I like the general concept of this app and use it to cue my choices and prompts me on timing. However, it's a bit limited and has some quirks. For example, when adding food to your menu you can add only one fruit or meat per meal or snack. Often I have a variety and am frustrated that I can't record my true intake. You can add multiple vegetables, which I often do. Another limitation is that is assumes you are doing the diet as per the book, and not a modified phase version (as Pomroy suggests you can) or the maintenance "Phase 4". It would be great to be able to continue to use the app once you've "graduated" to maintaining a healthy weight. On the plus side, I like the lists, the ability to adjust your meal time based on when you get up that day (my schedule is erratic) and the integrated grocery list. The app is worth owning but it could be vastly improved with a few tweaks..Version: 2.9.2

Badly badly badly needs an update!!!I use this to log in my water. That’s what is good for. The food list needs to be updated, the portion size are frequently incorrect. If you use 2 types of protein or fat, you can’t include thatZ only one choice allowed. No search button, inconvenient way to scroll to look for food. As a paid App, it should be taken care of. Wouldn’t recommend it at this point, so the owners will do smth about it.Version: 2.9.3

DO NOT BUY - Incomplete listsApp is useless. The food lists are incomplete. Can't search the food list. Just terrible app..Version: 2.9.2

Helpful BUT needs to stay updatedThis app is very helpful to anybody following the FMD diet. However, esp because since it's a paid app, it needs to be updated and maintained. If you are following the 'free' FMD group on Facebook, there are numerous alerts of the inconveniences or inconsistencies on the app. Please update the app. For instance, when making a fruit smoothie, you should be able to pick two or more fruits in the fruit pull down, not just one-same for the other pull downs. There should be a more convenient way to set the time of your meals. The recipes should have active links. Where is a listing for the nut milks in Phase 3? I was only able to find coconut milk. Serving sizes should be noted when looking at the pull down, not after you log it..Version: 2.9.3

Helpful but.....Having recently started I opted to try the app rather than using paper to plan. It is very helpful in creating a plan for the day despite its relative simplicity. BUT as many have noted there are some simple fixes that are needed such as choosing your start date other than today which would make it far more user friendly. MOST IMPORTANTLY, in today's technology there is absolutely no reason it cannot be synched between a phone and iPad given one has to pay for it. Please fix this.....Version: 2.9.3

UnimpressedThis app is nothing different than the book. The food lists are not updated as they are updated for the FMD plan. The worst part of it all is that in this digital age, this app does not sync across devices, making it almost useless. Please please please add an update to allow this to sync across multiple devices. Without this function this app is just a waste of money..Version: 2.9.3

Inconsistent with the bookThe fat quantites are very off - if I key in a recipe from the book - egg and toast with tomato and red onion - all options match the portion size in the recipe but the 1/4 tsp olive oil becomes 3 tbs. If I choose fats - olives - the recommended serving is 1/4 cup approx 5 gram of fat If I choose olive oil the recommendation is 3 TBS about 45 grams of fat - over 900 times as much While the book recommends a high qty of fat this is beyond reasonable or safe given this is for one meal and does not include the fat inherent in eggs or other proteins. If I made this choice for 3 meals - my fat for this one category would be recommened at over 9 tbs - more than 1/2 cup of fat. The snacks also have fat plus the protein choices have fat. I one just follows the book the fat in the sample day plans is substantially less. In fact most recipes in phase 3 have less than a tbs of fat. The food lists are in poor order with peppers under Yellow peppers, Green Peppers, Italian Peppers or Red peppers but nothing under Peppers which is what most people would look for. With no search option it is more difficult than necessary to find items. Also according to the book portion sizes should be increased by 1/2 portion for each 20 lbs being released. If I have 60 lbs to release this actually is calculated as if I have 40 lbs to lose. And according to the book i should have a serviing of 12 oz of fish double the 20 lbs to lose amount of 6 oz. The book gives specific instructions to add 1/2 serving size for every 20 lbs. It is very inconsistent. The concepts in the book.Version: 2.9

VC Ont.I found the app totally inadequate. The information is inconsistent with the book; the food choices are limited; no access to the meal recipes; and tracking my own recipes was almost impossible. I deleted the app. after three days - waste of money - I want a refund..Version: 2.4

Updates pleaseI love this app and use it everyday but do get frustrated that it has not been updated to reflect the latest changes and corrections. I think more people would buy if it was accurate. 😀😀.Version: 2.9.2

Needs an updateBeen using the app for 18 months and it has made the FMD sooo much easier, but it’s time for an update. Foods have been added to the program, some quantities have changed and the app has remained static. The publisher needs to work with the author to get the app back to fully complimenting the program..Version: 2.9.3

No metric option. No thanks! Also the UI is so hard to navigate..Version: 2.21.1

So frustrating to useI keep a night owl schedule which has me going to bed at 4 am and getting up a little after noon. My first meal would be 1 pm but the app doesn’t allow that. I shifted times earlier in order to plan, but the app uses my device’s clock time to show the meal it thinks I should be having instead of the one I’m actually at. So, at 1 pm when I would be having my first meal, it will only show the snack I’m supposed to have at 3 (noon start is latest it will allow for breakfast). I’d just like to enter meals by sequence without a set time. Doing the actual planning is also very frustrating. The app has little flexibility and is hard to use so I’ve decided to delete it and go back to my notecard and Excel strategy for meal planning..Version: 2.21.9

Not Veggie FriendlyThe app does not allow you to indicate you are vegetarian and includes no vegetarian meal suggestions. it is possible to turn off the meats but you have to do each individually and there are a lot. Also, the diet itself will have you eating nothing but egg whites for two days a week due to limited veggie protein sources in "phase II"..Version: 2.2

Missing a lot of utilitiesMissing: - ability to add meals from the recipe book, the blog or save our own recipes for easy data entry - Copying meals from one week to the next could also be an easy tool - Importing meals from the menu planner into the menu diary with one easy function would make this app easier to work with - ability to enter decimals in weight. The difference between 10.9 and 10.1 could be relevant to some - helps keep track - easier access to change wake up time, I gave up entering the correct time for my breakfast as I may wake up at 5:30 some days and 9:00 on others. When I have early breakfasts it tells me I can’t enter a me before wake up time, and I still have to figure how to enter wake up times for the week. - Ability to enter workouts and workout notes - Functioning ability to export diet data with preferred email service or iCloud/Google cloud transfer - currently is telling me my phone is not setup to sent email which is BS cause I LIVE on email. - When one HAS the book and the cookbook, in paper copy - ability to import food maps and recipes from them..Version: 2.9.3

New updated app is all about moneyWe have used this app successfully until recently. Tech support finally made it more useful by eliminating the need to uncheck previous meal plans and water intake when starting over so that there was no loss of the meal plan...consequently, we recommended it to everyone we met that was looking for help with their diet needs. It was great! However, this all disappeared with the latest updated version. Now, it’s all about the money...join their club, pay membership fees, purchase expensive products, etc. Guess what...now tech support ignores requests for help to clear previous checks and water consumption unless a full reset is done that eliminates all previous information including previous meals. In the past, we have purchased all books associated with the Fast Metabolism Diet and have been pleased. Now, it appears that Ms Pomroy’s organization is only concerned with selling products, books and memberships...the apparent concern for the consumer seems to have disappeared..Version: 2.21.2

Food lists seriously outdated!I would give this 5 stars but for the fact that the food lists are way outdated compared to the book. The app is easy to use and would be very helpful if the lists were updated. I mean, that’s the whole reason behind the app, to save time looking all this stuff up in the book! UPDATE THE APP ALREADY!!!!!.Version: 2.9.3

Recipes neededThis is a good app, but will be a great app once the recipes from the book are added!.Version: 1.3

Good but needs work! This is a great tool to help you plan out meals especially on the fly, when you don't have the book handy. I work nights though and the meal map timing, the way it is set up, is super frustrating! It is always changing the times on me because it doesn't understand my 3pm wake up time and when there is a time error it just won't let you move on! Very annoying but the grocery list and food list sections are godsends when it comes to planning!.Version: 2.4

This app is useless except for planningMy husband and I are doing this diet. We read the book. We downloaded the app to facilitate things. We’ve been very frustrated with it. Really, all it’s good for is meal planning, and that is absolutely it, and even if that’s all you’re using it for you’ll be frustrated. Pros: water tracker, planning times/foods for meals. Cons: 1) You’re not really “tracking” your food if you can’t enter everything that you eat, even if it’s something that’s not supposed to be there. There should be some way of entering foods that are either off-limits or out of phase. (Side note: I’m pretty sure you can email your data to the company so they can analyze what you’re eating…what good is that when you cannot truly track things?) 2) In that same vein, it doesn’t let you track your portions. That’s fine if you’re someone trying to lose 20 pounds or less (1 portion), but as she says in the book, if you’re trying to lose more than that, you will need to increase your portion sizes. Well…you can’t track portion sizes here. I have many more gripes with it but those are the biggest. I do think this is a good way of eating so far, so I give the diet a hesitant thumbs up (only in week one) but this app needs some work..Version: 2.21.11

Not the best diet appBut it's the only one for the FMD program. Having the master food list on my phone is very usefull when I'm grocery shopping. The ability to plan my meals would be very helpful if it was more flexible. You can only select one fruit / grain / protien for each category. So if you are making chilli, there is no way of entering it in to the app properly, because you can't customize the foods . You are limited to the foods on the master list. This means that your meal map won't make any sense when you look back on them, unless you know that white beans, ground turkey, and zucchini is Turkey Chili. Not to mention that the grocery list is incomplete because not all the ingredients are included..Version: 1.1
